13381  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Some very 'bad' news on s19 shipments. on: August 12, 2020, 09:34:14 PM
My control boards finally arrived, although the delay was a few weeks later than usual.

It looks like the Bitmain store is no longer "under maintenance" and furthermore, most of the repair parts are back in stock. Not sure if I would trust that, though.

Thanks for update

I may order some boards today.

13383  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Release S17E custom firmware on: August 11, 2020, 11:36:57 PM
the nice thing is it readjusts so it you set to 75% and it is too hot they go upwards towards 100% and get there mid day then drop down to 75% when the sun sets.

the oem firmware is too aggressive.

so they run very near 100% 24/7

so the oem fans will wear out faster and waste power . it saves more then you think since four fans use close to 100+ watts at full speed.

so far i don't see ill effects from setting fans at 75% or 80% or 90%

as for 1680 vs 1690 vs 1695

testing will tell.

the stock gear is pushing 1730mv at or close to 100% fans.

it is not hashing faster
it hashes a fraction less then the new firmware set at 1680

the stock gear in a warm room like mine can not speed fans to cool better because fans are full spped on it.

so the stock gear downclocks  freq in order to cool it.

if it were really cold like 0c outside the stock firmware would be okay.

right now i bumped the new firmware to just a bit more volts 1695mv. so far the new gear is cooler and hashes higher then the old gear.

as long as it does not drop off 1695mv seems better.

now tomorrow it will get hot. So I will check and see if the 1695 is too high.

I can not change freq yet.  so I have not tried super low volts like 1625 or 1600

I also want to do 24-36 hour tests. so the 1695mv test has about twenty four more hours to go.

I would like to try highest setting I can do maybe 1700mv.

I would like to try lowest setting I can do maybe 1600mv.

As for fans maybe 60% in the winter with maybe 1675mv but that will not be anytime soon.
13384  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia has developed covid-19 vaccine. on: August 11, 2020, 09:37:50 PM
When I was reading the news, these were the key points:

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said a locally developed vaccine for Covid-19 has been given regulatory approval after less than two months of testing on humans.

Amid fears that safety could have been compromised, the World Health Organization (WHO) urged Russia last week to follow international guidelines for producing a vaccine against Covid-19.

Currently, the Russian vaccine is not among the WHO's list of six vaccines that have reached phase three clinical trials, which involve more widespread testing in humans.

Russian scientists said early-stage trials of the vaccine had been completed and the results were a success.

The Russian vaccine uses adapted strains of the adenovirus, a virus that usually causes the common cold, to trigger an immune response.

But the vaccine's approval by Russian regulators comes before the completion of a larger study involving thousands of people, known as a phase-three trial.

You can read the full news from the link below
BBC News - Coronavirus: Putin says vaccine has been approved for use
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-53735718

I would trust a word coming from Putin's mouth. Trusting Russians is just plain stupid.  These people say one thing, think another and do yet another, all while being half drunk.  Most are moral and ethical degenerates.

They can have it.

Wow I have more than 1 Russian friend that is not a moral or ethical degenerate.

That said they are no further ahead than a few other countries. No one has tested 10,000 people for 6 months which is a bare minimum to even declare it is 'safe'

Shipments Of 20,000 Fake IDs From China Seized By Feds Ahead Of Election"

https://www.zerohedge.com/political/shipments-20000-fake-ids-china-seized-feds-ahead-election

Russia working with Republicans = credible threat justifying years of investigation in spite of total lack of evidence.

China working with Democrats = INCONCEIVABLE!

He is on point.

This means fake proof is available to the left and the right.

So this means voter fraud is now an equal opportunity for the left and the right.

So this means it would be easy for either side to vote two or three times.

So if Trump wins then Biden can claim voter fraud just as easily as Trump can claim voter fraud if Biden wins.

So I guess this bet will be a push since they will both easily fight the result by claiming the other side purchased Chinese id's to vote two or three times.

I have not read all the rules so what happens if either side fights the results due to the fake Chinese id's

Seems to me either side can fight this election with ease now due too these fake id's popping up all over.

IIRC 2000 Florida was the key and was under 1000 votes.
These 20000 id's could have made the difference since either side can get them.
13386  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 11, 2020, 08:25:48 PM
Sub $11,000 tonight?

I’m not bothered as long as we don’t go back to 4 figures. Bit of volatility isn’t bad at this price.

Actually since I am hodling to at least Nov 1 or 50k price.

I would love 💗 💕 to see a strong drop to 8888.

The problem is it is going to go over 13000 very soon. Much more likely to see the 13000 price

before we see 8888.

The big move comes sept 21 to oct 14.

if covid spikes like mad from the usa school kids catching it the  fud will rise like mad. the election retoric will go up and over the top. causing the left and the right to fear the other side winning.

and people that have a lot to lose will want lots of btc and crypto coins to flee to.
13387  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 11, 2020, 08:17:25 PM
A crash is possible if USA Russia and China all agree to out law it.

Considering it is becoming increasing legal throughout the world for banks to hold and deal in btc I find this an impossibility.

that is why the word “if” was used in my statement.

not the word “when”

13388  Economy / Collectibles / Re: What to do with absurdly valuable physical bitcoins ? on: August 11, 2020, 02:48:11 PM
What are ppl doing if they have BTC in physical coins and want to raise funds ? Redemption seems like vandalism and sale is impractical for the bigger denominations.

As I understand a coin sealed with say 1 btc it can be stolen by the builder/loader of the coin.

So if this is always true peeling the loaded btc seems to be a good option.

Now if you purchased an empty coin and loaded it then put it into safe keeping you would be okay.

I was going to buy a lessor item and was discussing the how to of loading the coin with  Miner Jones. So He mentions I can self load some doge coins and or have him load some doge coins.

Since I have 2,000,000 doge and wanted to give a 1,000,000 loaded coin to my partner buysolar I had an interest in this.

I know miner jones is good, but if doge went to $1.00 from its current $0.0035 price. The coin would go from 3500 to 1,000,000

Even if it went from $0.0035 to $0.10. it would be worth $100,000.

So peeling a coin that you did not load becomes pretty tempting.
13389  Other / Archival / Re: Why are these posts necessary? on: August 11, 2020, 01:58:38 PM
Additional post count, nothing else.

As they can delete the post instead of posting "Deleted".

wrong.  Many sections make you wait for 24 hours.

The poster may simply erase the post leave a  .   or mark delete. and then forget to clean it up.

So it can be for keeping post count high.  And it can be due to board rules not allowing a delete.

Could you please alter your post to reflect it is not fully correct.

As for what sections do this.  Marketplace does it.

and they do it to all ranks. newbie to legend

13391  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The fastest way to download blockchain data in csv format on: August 11, 2020, 01:02:01 PM
Hi,

I wonder how to download bitcoin data to csv files. I would like to get all blocks, transactions in csv files. What is the fastest way to achieve this?
I heard about bitcoin-etl and blocksci. Is it possible with both of them ?

It is a pretty big file I would think you need to spilt it into smaller ones.

this is a pdf of blocksci white paper

https://arxiv.org/pdf/1709.02489.pdf

do you read it? it may give you some insight to your question.
13392  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Release S17E custom firmware on: August 11, 2020, 12:28:46 AM
on the storm end we are fully back to normal. i packed the generators into storage. cleaned the brush and branches and can move on to helping wife recover from last winters (covid-19?) damage.

we are now making appointments to a ear nose throat doctor 👩‍⚕️ to address her 7.5 month long post nasal drip. which has hindered full lung recovery from what ever she had back in jan 2020.

i have been pretty much overwhelmed this year.

personal health
wifes health
covid-19 shutdowns = this affects all of us
george floyd = black lives matter protesters this affect some of us.
large tropcial storm= mostly north eastern usa.

been quite an interesting year.

new info 08/11/2020

So it got smoking hot again and results were the old original bitmain firmware crashed

so for a hot spot the t17e is a real saver.

the settings of 1690mv and 85% fan save power and prevent over heating of t17e gear.

hashrate just about the same. but do favor the new mod.
errors just about the same.     but do favor the new mod.
rejects just about the same.    but do favor the new mod.

this mod allows fan settings of 85, 90, 100%.  There are more choices I only tested three of them listed.
this mod allows volt settings of 1680mv,1690mv. There are more choices I only tested 2 of them.

It looks like NJ is over the storm damage from last week. I will contact thierry4wd about freq settings

thierry4d asked me to test 1695mv and 75% fan.

I will get back later.

you know if we hit a pair of long blocks we could get very close to 0.0

it is nice to see this. lets do it again.

edit :

1 more block to go.

13399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase: Increasing ETC deposit confirmation time to ~ 2 weeks on: August 10, 2020, 12:28:18 AM
So basically the problem is pretty simple. It is gpu mineable and does not have a big enough share of the worlds gpus. So it can be attacked.

the only gpu coin with a large share of the gpu hash is eth.

the only defense for etc is shutting chain down and freezing the blockchain.

ltc and doge are safe as they merge mine and have way more then 50% of the asic gear that mines it.

btc is safe as it has more then 50% of the asic gear that mines it.

bch
bsv have a defense move to protect from huge  amount of btc gear shifting to them. they can do a fast track difficulty change which kind of hinders the desire to attack them.

xmr is safe as it has more then 50% of the cpu hash. the developers do try to protect the network.

reality is only one gpu coin can work unless developers have other tricks up their sleeves.

I think etc is doomed as the developers simply dont care to protect the coin.
13400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 09, 2020, 11:59:30 PM
Hey Phil... did I see you mention recently that you are still mining XMR?  If so, can I assume you are doing so with CPUs not GPUs?  Mining calculators indicate GPU-mining of XMR at a loss, even given it's recent price increase so I assume you are using other methods.  If using CPUs, would you mind sharing which you are using and their results?

i have two thread rippers

3960x.  does 22-24k

3970x.  does 27-29k

i have four amd 9 3900x. they do 11k each.

the six rigs all have two gpus.  some 5500xt some 5700xt some 1660 some 1660ti a 1080ti

these all mine xmr and eth at nicehash and i convert to btc.

they dont make much money as they are in my home. power is high,  but in the winter they will heat the house and power is cheaper.  I also can sell a rig or two down the road.

frankly i have been really tied up this year with a ton of real world 🌍 problems.

literally started  on new years eve. wife and i got sick maybe covid-19 maybe not.

she turned into double pneumonia and is still struggling with lung damage and an endless post nasal drip.

going on eight months.
then the lockdown
then the storm less week

I am having trouble keeping up with crypto and real world shit.

but at least gear is making money 💵😀!

Wife has just done some xrays a cat scan and sputum tests.

the good is no active infections. some lung scarring but good oxidation into blood.

next step is new treatments for her post nasal drip.
