1341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Behaviours of gamblers you dislike. on: September 13, 2023, 06:48:47 PM
What is the one behaviour you noticed in a gambler and  you dislike it? You don't need to have a reason for disliking it but you just do.

As for me I dislike when gamblers complain of their losses, meanwhile you hear them complain when they are getting winnings.

What about you, what do you dislike ?

I dislike it when a gambler becomes addicted. Most times they try to argue with you when you point 👉 it out to them that this thing is becoming addictive.

I don't like the habit of continuous staking after about 4 straight loss.
Once you've lost consistently on a game, it best advised you relax for a while and re-strategies.

I also dislike the habit of a gambler telling people to play a certain game, that your sure it will be a win when they didn't ask you for it. Because most times the results always comes out negative, so if you have any game your sure, please most times keep it to yourself until somebody ask for a game from you before you share with what you have.
1342  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: This is How to Avoid Plagiarism on: September 13, 2023, 06:10:08 PM

The best way for you not to plagiarized is to make sure, you write everything on your own, instead of plagiarizing, why not just give a reference to the original owner of the content you might be referring to.
1343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the new Apple toys & Invest in Bitcoin, history always repeat itself. on: September 13, 2023, 08:14:00 AM

I don't do this often but if my post can save a soul from making the wrong decision, it would be worth the effort. We're in September which is the period which Apple flood the market with their new toys and people make the mistakes of throwing away money every year on these items. Why would anyone buy something that'll be devalued in about 12 months time because around this time next year Apple will be releasing a new set of devices and an upgrade of what will be released this year. Instead of buying those devices now, you can use that money for something more reasonable by investing that money in Bitcoin. The price of Bitcoin is low currently which is another reason to make use of this opportunity to invest in Bitcoin.

Those that bought bitcoin and ignored the latest iphone during the period those previous model above (in the image) were launched have made a better financial decision and anybody thinking of getting the new iphone when you already have a perfectly working phone should rethink that decision and invest the money in buying Bitcoin. You'll be getting around BTC0.031 +/-  which will be worth more in the future than the amount you'll spend to buy it while that new Iphone will lose value in the next 12 months. if you really what to get something relating to apple then buy their stocks instead of the devices (that's another means of diversifying your portfolio, if you think you already have enough Bitcoin secured for the future).

Just imagine the profits that would have been if those that bought the new iphone during the release date of those model above bought bitcoin instead. Avoid making same mistakes and choose bitcoin.

I agree with the OP, I've tried the look at the features of the new Apple device and the previous one, I've seen that there is no much difference really.
So if you already have iPhone 14, I don't see the need in getting latest version of 15. Especially when the one you're using hasn't gone bad.
So it's at best you invest that money,, especially on bitcoin because there will be certainly  a return in investment after a while. But for the iPhone,  immediately you get that device, it will start to diminish in value as the months counts.
1344  Economy / Economics / Re: G20 Presidency [Summit] on: September 12, 2023, 02:59:14 PM
G20 at a glance;

Quote
The G20 is a multilateral cooperation forum consisting of 19 major countries and the European Union (EU). The G20 represents more than 60% of the world's population, 75% of global trade and 80% of the world's GDP. The G20 members consist of South Africa, United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Russia, France, China, Turkey and the European Union.

this time the host of the G20 is Indonesia. but Indonesia is in a bit of trouble because the US threatens to boycott the G20 if Russia is invited

Code:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/us-russia-g20-meetings-boycott-b2052636.html
https://www.reuters.com/world/yellen-says-russia-should-be-expelled-g20-us-may-boycott-some-meetings-2022-04-06/

Quote
"President Biden's made it clear... that it cannot be business as usual for Russia in any of the financial institutions," Yellen said.

"He's asked that Russia be removed from the G20, and I've made clear to my colleagues in (presidency holder) Indonesia that we will not be participating in a number of meetings if the Russians are there."

I'm curious about what steps the Indonesian government should take to melt the hearts of the US, because this is an important meeting for the future of the global economy.

Besides that, Indonesia will definitely be embarrassed in front of the world, if the G20 meeting which will be held in Bali, Indonesia is canceled.
"

this is a hard nut to crack by Indonesian government, considering the fact that the two countries are on serious loggerheads with each other at this point in time.
I'm pretty sure they U.S will make do with their plans to boycott the summit.

If the summit is cancelled, then it is a much better option because it gives the next host much time to come up with the best option on how to handle this situation.
Indonesian shouldn't feel embarrassed, because it's not their fault, this is more like this clash of the titans and Indonesia is caught in-between the devil and the deep blue sea.
1345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of advice is worth giving such people? on: September 12, 2023, 10:22:20 AM
I have read some painful stories online about Bitcoin fans that lost their Bitcoin to hacks more than once and how they gave up because of the hacks, this made me curious about people on the forum, I will like to ask you guys how many times you have lost Bitcoin to hacks or your own mistakes, and why are you still not giving up.

Can you keep buying bitcoin if you have already get hacked like twice or more in the past?

Like a story about an American who lost his love for Bitcoin because of the hacks, I believe it's because of his own carelessness though, because you can't leave your wallet on a bench outside your home and not expect someone to steal it, and you come out and say your wallet was stolen by a thief, like what do expect?

What advice is worth passing out to people who have lost their Bitcoin more than once and are on the hedge of giving up?

Exposing your Bitcoin wallet to be hacked twice is something not funny. Your Bitcoin wallet is like a Bank vault, it should be guarded with utmost importance and should be your top secret.
It's more like exposing your financial activities for hackers to penetrate through.

Being a Bitcoin enthusiast, nothing will discouraged me from still investing in bitcoin even if I have previously lost it before ( though I'm sure, I'm not going to find myself in that kind of situation).

So for people that have lost their bitcoin before, I would advise they always protect their wallets details for hackers not to penetrate, they shouldn't keep themselves vulnerable for hackers. That way, I'm sure they will enjoy their Bitcoin investment in a long run.
1346  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You can get played by anybody on: September 11, 2023, 07:44:23 PM
So are you telling me that if the real Elon Musk or Vitalik account on Twitter ask you to provide your seed phrase to them for some checkups or freebies you will not think twice? Simply because the request is coming from the real Elon or Vitalik account?

People need to wake the hell up, Vitalik created Ethereum, and because of this he won't dare ask me to provide my seed phrase, hell NO,  what the hell is wrong with people?

Apart from the fact that it's hackers at play here, even if the real people ask for your private key you will give them? It seems many people don't even understand crypto.

Satoshi can not wake up today on the forum and send me message to provide my bitcoin wallet key, I will tell him to fu*k off, because this is the right way to protect my fund.

I am really sorry that many people lost their funds to hackers who hacked vitalik account on Twitter but we need to discuss this, it's for your own good when people on here tell to stop seeking for free stuffs, because if it's free you are the product.

The best ways to stay safe in crypto space now is to just DCA, stake if you want and enjoy your life, nothing comes easily anymore, there is no free stuffs in the world, those who want to give up free stuffs want something else too.

1. Avoid clicking links and claiming freebies online, most especially giveaways on social media.
2. Do not hook up your wallet to websites you don't know.

3. Air drops are not even safe too, most from social media are scam, if you are a Airdrop fan, please dedicated a separate wallet for Airdrops only.

I as a person stay the hell away from every freebies and that includes airdrops too, because even if they are legit the amount isn't going to be much anyway, why waste your time? Hackers are increasing their standards every day, make sure you are increasing yours as well, even Vitalik Buterin and Satoshi himself is not safe, if you get messages from them, even if it's the real them, and they ask for your key, my brother and sisters RUN.

Internet scammer are getting sophisticated day by day with their online scams.
The other day, a friend of my was sent a message on Facebook, immediately she clicked the link sent, her Facebook log in details where changed. She couldn't access her account anymore. The next day, the person that hacked the account started asking for money from her friends on her Facebook account, this is a habit she doesn't indulge in.

So everybody should be mindful of scammers especially on social media, It will save you greatly for being cautious.
1347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 11, 2023, 02:14:11 PM
First Mason Greenwood and now Antony... Manchester United are really unlucky to deal with this kind of problems as well. There are even memes out on the internet related to these news. It is just interesting to see this kind of incidents in the same team recently. As far as I know Greenwood is in the clear now too.

I hope the Red Devils don't have incidents like this anymore in the future. They should be able to just concentrate on their game to improve from now on. Because things aren't going on well for them these days. The players should be prevented from being demoralized.

I feel Manchester United should do more to protect the interest of their players, when Greenwood had his issues, UNITED would have done more to shield the young man, whatever issue he had with his supposed girlfriend was something they could have settled in-house, not letting things to escalate that far.

I read somewhere that Antony weekly wages where suspended, pending the outcome of investigation. I feel they should do more in protecting the image of their player's and not letting them go through media trials. I believe UNITED wouldn't support any evil deeds by any player but they should do more in settling some of this issues in-house
1348  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: September 11, 2023, 08:30:03 AM
We live in a society where people have different views about something and these views could be drawn based on different constituent like personal sentiment, religion, ideology and experience. And speaking of gamble there are those that view it as an irresponsible activity to embark on and whoever is into it is tag as irresponsible guy, for some it beyond being irresponsible but a sin something that is evil,  while some others out of an ugly experience of a loved one that got ruined by it due to extreme addiction.

These factors has made a number of gamblers to keep their gambling habit a secret doing all they could not to let friends and family  know they gamble. And it does seem like they ain't proud of what they're doing.

But why continue in what you're not proud of by keeping it secret cause maybe you're worried about what people may say, how their thoughts about your person might change. Or how you might loose ties with someone you hold dear to. And many other reasons that follows.

Those that keep their gambling habit a secret is it that they're not proud of what they are doing?.

For countries that have laws that made gambling legal, it has some speculative age bracket given to it before you can start gambling. It is believed that at that age, your kind of reasoning should be matured, because for any decision you take, it's believe your well informed.
People's opinions will only be secondary. As a gambler, I'm conscious of myself, I discuss my gambling activities to my cycle of friends and I don't see anyone admonishing me, because I play responsible.
1349  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: ARE THEY MAKING MONEY FROM FLOOD? on: September 10, 2023, 05:48:07 PM
Are they profiting from floods? I don't understand why we face this flood issue every year. Growing up, I knew there was an annual flood, but it wasn't as disastrous as the 2012 one, which claimed many lives and properties. After that, there was the 2022 flood, and now we're hearing about another one to come this 2023. What has changed that we're experiencing floods again this year? I'm aware that a substantial amount of money is allocated to states affected by floods. I believe that influential individuals benefit from it, while only a small portion goes to the actual flood victims.

This is a serious issue because everyone now wants to move to areas where they don't experience floods. The landowners are increasing their rent in those flood-free areas. Acquiring land there is now outrageously expensive

For those of us living in these areas, you should know how troubled we all are during this period because we're all thinking about where to stay if things get worse this year. It's an experience I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, especially considering the cost of living. Naija which way. It is well.

What has caused the increase in disastrous floods, and can't the government do something to mitigate the issue?

Sincerely flood has been one big issue affecting my people from the Niger Delta and other  parts of the country. In 2012 the impact of the flood disaster on my people was second to none, their House's, their agricultural produce, the animals in the bushes everything was ravaged by the flood impact.
Goodluck Jonathan was the president then, heaven and earth where promised to the affected people and a huge amount of money was released for rehabilitation of those affected local governments and state governments.

Trust me with our abrakatabra set of politicians, those funds released Never got to the grassroots especially those greatly affected till date.

Trust me international bodies every now and then always send relief funds for disaster management yet, this funds ends up in the pockets of private individuals. So in answering your question, yes some persons are making money from the flood disaster though flood is a natural disaster.
1350  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Texas bitcoin miners halt operations to save energy during heat wave on: September 08, 2023, 03:20:58 PM
Bitcoin miners in Texas (Riot Blockchain, Argo Blockchain and Core Scientific) have suspended operations and answered the call to conserve energy and spare the Lone Star State’s fragile power grid as demand has soared during an intense heat wave.
“There are over 1,000 megawatts worth of Bitcoin mining load that responded to ERCOTs conservation request by turning off their machines to conserve energy for the grid.” Lee Bratcher, president of Texas Blockchain Council told Bloomberg.

more details: https://nypost.com/2022/07/13/texas-bitcoin-miners-halt-operations-to-save-energy-amid-heat-wave/

My own question is, are there laws available for miner to generate their own electricity just so that they could power the mining farms?
Because given the amount of energy been consumed by mining firms, it is best advised they generate their electricity so the Texas government could conserve energy for the rest of the people.
1351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two years ago today, El Salvador adopted Bitcoin as legal tender on: September 08, 2023, 02:40:16 PM
Today makes it two years since El Salvador made bitcoin a legal tender in the country. Since the adoption of bitcoin in that country. The president of the country Nayib Bukele has accumulated about 2381BTC which he has spent $101 million for the purchase with an average purchase price of $43,357. The price is down by 40% which the BTC price now worths $61 million today.

Even as this is happening, the president is not compelled or pressured to sell them off, but still optimistic about the future of bitcoin and will likely love to add more to the bitcoin savings until a target 100,000 BTC by 2024 is met. Will this approach, confidence and doggedness by the president of El Salvador make other countries to follow his footsteps. No one has loved and gave much confidence in bitcoin as a government like him, and I admire and respect him for that a lot. We hope other countries leaders will follow and trail on his path.

https://bitkan.com/learn/how-much-bitcoin-does-el-salvador-own-in-2023-the-risks-16511

The approach to which bitcoin is being adopted by the Government should be commended, I can say the President is a man with foresight. Government of some countries are busy putting restrictions here and there on bitcoin, but here is a man that is very optimistic about the future of his country and has decided to invest such huge amount on Bitcoin and is even ready to do more.
This singler act will encourage citizens education and adoption of bitcoin significantly in the country.

1352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jakarta is in a pollution emergency, Is it caused by crypto mining? on: September 07, 2023, 10:40:32 AM
Indonesia, especially Jakarta is in a pollution emergency, Many say that this is caused by steam power plants where the fuel is coal. And, sadly I heard also on my social media local that this pollution is also caused by crypto-mining, I debated and rejected it opinion because crypto-mining in Indonesia is not much like other countries where their air is still clean today.

So what do you though, is crypto mining become a big problem of pollution?

Pollution is one health hazard that is affecting the WORLD. However you didn't specify the kind of pollution you guys are experiencing If it's, carbon emissions, noise pollution or gas direct emission.

However I still don't believe whatever pollution you guys are experiencing is caused by crypto mining, because the capacity of the crypto mine in Jakarta is not that huge to prompt that kind of pollution you are describing.
1353  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting the Right Information About Bitcoin and Don't Be Misguided! on: September 07, 2023, 10:08:42 AM
Bitcoin is gradually spreading like wildfire worldwide. However, there are still numerous obstacles hindering its widespread adoption. While many tend to blame the government, it's disheartening to realize that the lack of sound financial advice or expertise is also a significant issue. People often disseminate incorrect information without understanding the inherent risks and complexities of finance. Crypto illiteracy is a major hurdle affecting Bitcoin's global use. Some individuals has already digested the wrong ideas about Bitcoin and this can affect its adoption rate. In my experiences, when I've asked people about Bitcoin, they've often provided vague descriptions, indicating that despite hearing about Bitcoin, many still don't fully comprehend what it truly is.

Bitcoin holds the potential to aid countries with stagnant economic growth and has opened up new vistas of financial freedom for them. I remember sometime ago, before I came to understand Bitcoin in full. I encountered someone who claimed they could teach me to make $100 daily just by investing in Bitcoin. While this offer seemed tempting, I, with my limited Bitcoin experience, decided to conduct my own research. I discovered that Bitcoin isn't a get-rich-quick scheme and anyone promising such short term gain is likely trying to exploit you for their own gain. Profits in Bitcoin are earned gradually and require patience. Those introducing people to Bitcoin should provide the full picture rather than just highlighting the positives, which can tarnish Bitcoin's reputation when things go wrong. this isn't right.

Every successful Bitcoin investors will tell you that risks are an integral part of the journey to success. If you're considering trading, you should acknowledge that success might not be guaranteed. Don't be deceived by individuals on social media who claim to have foolproof trading or investment strategies. Even the best traders experience losses at times, but with each loss, they gain valuable lessons.

While telling others about Bitcoin, you have to remember that not everyone will adopt to using Bitcoin, so don't force someone into investing. Those who've tried it have shared positive experiences. It's unfortunate that some people had the chance to invest in Bitcoin but were discouraged due to their limited knowledge. While seeking financial advice from others isn't a bad idea, it's crucial to be discerning about the information you accept and act upon. Having incorrect information can negatively impact your Bitcoin experience. Always remember FINANCE AND RISK works together. "Do Your Own Research (DYOR) and don't be deceived.

It really of utmost importance that people need to know that Bitcoin is not a quick money making scheme just as you rightly said, outside the fact that people see bitcoin as an investment, it also advisable to let people know that bitcoin is also an asset, that has lots of value's, just the way you have real estate. All you need is the right information and education and how apply it.

You talked about crypto illiteracy, sincerely that is one aspect that has held some people down on how to go about crypto, because they are skeptical and don't really know how to approach the crypto industry especially for those of them from developing nations, I'm saying so because I can relate.

In Bitcoin trading, it is always advised you learn more on the risk factors involved, so you can know how to navigate the market and manage your risk so you won't run into losses. Don't go with the notion of "no risk no reward mindset", when you can actually avoid risk. Though it doesn't mean you won't incur losses as trader.
1354  Economy / Economics / Re: CBDCs are created for unemployment purpose on: September 06, 2023, 04:50:50 PM
Government of various nations are having their own CBDCs currency, the whole thing is that the those coins are Government controlled. If this CBDCs are that reliable, just maybe that can replace fiat but it won't be that easy because CBDCs are not that used currently.
Don't be surprised that commercial Banks might still find a loophole to be at the centre of attraction if this concept is fully optimize.
1355  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The danger of blaming everything on politics on: September 04, 2023, 06:06:10 PM
Hello my country people. I hope say we dey push forward even though our country no too dey give us joy? Well, make we no give up... las las we go dey ok.

I take eye observe say we dey feel too comfortable blaming everything for we country on politicians. Person go thief, them catch am, him go blame politician and government wey no provide job. Fine girl go leave to learn handwork go dey do olosho and at the end, she go blame politicians and government. Even some papa them wey born full house when them no get work still dey blame politicians and government. Before now me self follow for this habit but recently, something just touch my mind say e be like that pattern no make sense at all. E dey make people lazy and irresponsible!

Even though our politicians and government no too try, that one no mean say them go chop blame for every bad thing wey happen and even wrong decision and choices people make. Even inside this our country wey no keep face well, e get people wey still dey meet up for their dreams so make we dey try to adjust and push on.

Some of the way we fit dey push forward for our country now na :
1. Planning well with our resources and time
2. Finding something legit and giving it your very best
3. No shame to hustle even if it means starting small.

This one na my views, my people how una see am?

My brother watin U talk make sense but e get one or two things way I go like point out for you.
As a citizen of a country, there are lots of basic things way government to suppose set in place, for citizens to strive.
1: ELECTRICITY.
Government supposed generate electricity for SMEs and multinational Business to grow, if MTN tell you how much them dey waste on top diesel because there is no sustainable electricity u go shock.  If that your hair Babber tell you how much him dey waste on fuel everyday, because say light no dey, u go shout. Now ask yourself how much dem dey gain.

2: UNEMPLOYMENT AND UNDEREMPLOYMENT.
I believe say, this particular matter we can all relate.
Person go spend years for school, when him finish him go come still go service and come back,  yet no job. Job way person go try see, them go wan under pay the person.  Because say industries no dey, to employ, Government no wan even hear anything about youth empowerment and growth. Meanwhile for other country, once you no get work, e get social support system way go dey pay till you find job.

Guy make I stop here, because If say make i list the problems way government don put people, we no go finish am. So brother no blame us say we dey always call government, because na them dey incharge of our money to use run the system.
1356  Economy / Economics / Re: What has really been behind china's economy on: September 04, 2023, 05:29:42 PM
I want you to think outside the box. Maybe they're able to maintain their status afloat even if it's known that the majority is suffering from the global crisis. But it's possible that even with the side motion of their economy, they're able to control what's going to come in and out with the media since their government is controlled by the CCP. So, data and numbers can be modified and they're only allowed to project what's good inside and outside the country.

For example: THE FALL OF EVERGRANDE: A CASE STUDY OF CHINA’S FINANCIAL TURMOIL IN 2022 AND THE IMPLICATION TO CHINA-BOUND INTERNATIONAL CAPITAL IN 2023 AND BEYOND

That incident surely have a big impact to their economy and probably they're tailoring it as if nothing is negatively happening to them and they're in control. But it can't also be denied that during the covid-19 pandemic height, they're able to spread their investments since majority of the stocks from that time were low. Well, go back to the first sentence of what I've said.

I can agree with you about the fact that, china would want to control whatever that is going out on the media space, but you can as well point out to the fact that, they have lots of companies owned by Chinese in other countries that are doing very well, in my country for instance, there are lot's of Chinese companies doing very well, for instance is EECC, a frontline construction giant in my country, that is just one out of a lot, some are also into oil and gas. So to large extent, this investments are generating a lot to the growth of their GDP,
1357  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: STRIKE: Stock home with food, medicines NLC tells Nigerians. on: September 04, 2023, 04:59:42 PM
My brother, Omo the matter just tire me. I don even hear say telecommunication services self go shutdown for this two days. NLC should come up with a comprehensive plan on how to tackle Government policies that are affecting the people, there are lots of things NLC is not fighting for, they've remained docile as State Governor's are dealing with civil servants, as regards promotions, payment of gratuities of pensioners, implementation of minimum wages and whole lot more of things. This incessant strike almost everytime is not helping the matter, they went on strike not too long ago, what did they achieve, nothing.
Now they coming up with another strike again, whenever NLC is aready to fight for the common Man, we will know, but for now, they are just playing to the Gallery.
1358  Economy / Economics / What has really been behind china's economy on: September 04, 2023, 03:26:53 PM
Sometimes as a rational thinker,  I've tried to wrap my head around how China has been able to sustain their economy with an estimated GDP growth of 3.00 percent and per CAPITAL  GDP of 18187.98 USD, Especially owing to the fact that, they have to much people heavily dependent on her economy and population of over 1.400 billion people.

I see a lot of countries with much lesser population struggling to sustain their economy at this point,  with global inflation, the after effect of COVID-19 other multi-dimensional economic problems. Because I can remember vividly that China,  are one of the highest hit of COVID-19 but yet they are still waxing stronger economically.

The other day,  Pawal7777 was talking about recession hitting CANADA, and that's how other countries are having one difficulty here and there economically. So my point is, what economical indices is china adopting to keep their economy afloat?

What is really going on with Canada? Is it really that bad as the internet says?
If so, what's the best way to profit from the (alleged?) recestision? Shorting CAD, TSX, or both? Or maybe it's all already priced in?

I don't really agree with some of this speculations, because the Canadian economy is still one of the best in the world, as even more U.S citizens prefer to migrate to Canada due to how favourable it is over there. if the economy is that  gloomy maybe we would have seen more outcry but wanting to Equate it to that of third world country, is something I will find it had to agree.

There is really no specific way to benefit in a recession, because it comes very hard on your pocket. Economists always find it hard to deal with recession, because it comes with inflations and other multiplier effect on the economy.
But you do well, to invest in Bitcoin, and also you could diversify your  source of income, just so that you can beat the recession.
