I dont have my computer right now, but as soon as I do, I'll check it out.

Yeah. dd-wrt already has this, so what are you wanting that is different? Bitcoin? Oh. The OP said "bucks" so I didn't think Bitcoin was what he was asking for. I guess I should have assumed since this is bitcointalk

Why keep this secret? Open source is good for projects like this.

Next release. CarbonCoin where the value is based on your carbon footprint for the wasted electricity.

I always hated megaupload, but it sucks that its government action that took them down

I've tried 1.105 (1.125 is default) and it even doesn't work with 750(850 is stock)/300. GPU stops responding.
When you are tweaking for undervolting, your goal is higher MH/s/ wattJ, not highest MH/s. Get a watt meter if you are serious about this.

That stupid site doesn't prove anything. The web server and both DNS servers were off the network for a while. When you said it was down, I connected to it just fine and so did dfe. I also did an nslookup and it returned just fine, so I don't know why you were having problems. Maybe they fixed whatever the problem was in the 3 hours between your post and mine.

Excellent. I originally thought solo would better, but my hashrates for the pool are so much higher than my ones going solo; by my calculations, I should be making around 400 a day until the reward drops. and 400 a day is going to be worth how many cents? How much did the electricity cost?

mine bank does not. i have keep my computer free from virus. like any other person should do.
oh boy, more of "I NEVER SAW THIS THEREFORE IT NEVER HAPPENS". there's a lot of things people should do. but do everyone do it? no. not everyone is a pro when it comes to computers, and people are especially vulnerable to social engineering attacks. what's so bad about adding an extra layer of security? This isn't your project. if you don't like this change, you're free to start your own fork. the source code in on github. im trying to get you to spoon feed me, because this stuff is just sooo stupid, that you have to realise what you are doing.
not sure if serious. then i read the text below your avatar. now you're on my ignore list evolution will eliminate week species. computer retards -> week species. Dude. Can you change a transmission? Can you build a house? Can you perform open heart surgery? Some people are better at some shit than other shit. You are being ridiculous. no but i don't have to. if people can't handle it themselves, they should pay for it. but if they can't handle money securely they should starve to dead. EDIT: or pay for insurance sigh...

I'm glad to see discussion about these proposals. It's always nice to have working code now, but considering we are building the currency of the future, lets take time and make sure we do it right.
I'm still not sure which proposal I like the best.
Is either proposal easier for a client to manage? It looks like both require the client to keep track of the script since it is not in the blockchain. Is this correct? Is there a potential to "lose" the script, or can it be recovered in some way?

Let's put it clear for everyone then:
PIP 11: It's already in the protocol but we need support from everyone (GUIs, webpages) to arbitrary-sized addresses sich as this one: 1TM1TTodZRiGNY23hgEW4QLroBW5By2gF1FQBwst7BEGPvS3gVh6PuqF5yNPtLFFFy71NzC2bZEX7mU jMJAb8wh6tPVpQeMCcu68F
PIP 16/17: They're too similar the more I read them. It requires protocol changes but they will allow to have regular-sized addresses which redeems the money with several signatures instead of a single one. It also allows much more complex transactions while the address stays the same size. It allows space savings in the block chain.
We can have escrow right now with PIP 11 (it just needs GUI support), but not secure multisig-by-default wallets, as DeathAndTaxes says.
why would i have multisig wallets? more keys to keep secret, is just stupid! the only real world use of multisigs is escrows, for which there is no need for small good looking addresses. this is just plain stupidity! Real banks do this. When you try to send funds, your phone gets a text and then you have to validate it from the phone. This isn't stupid at all. It means that an attacker has to control both your computer and phone which is way harder for them to do.

Ever since cgminer got an rpc interface, I've wanted a reliable way to monitor my miners. I started off building a quick and dirty python script, but quickly realized that I was reinventing the wheel. There are already lots of different (open source) tools for monitoring networks. Most all of them already include email notifications and nifty graphs.
If we build tools that provide an SMNP interface for cgminer, we can use any of these tools pretty easily. Its also simple enough to just use netcat, but I think a more structured interface would be better.
One of the problems is there are lots of tools. I've experimented with a few, but haven't really enjoyed any of them. I guess this is why people have been writing custom tools.
Nagios is a pain to configure (although NConf makes it easier) and doesn't have graphs. I was also getting lots of false positives.
I've just started playing with Zabbix, but its configuration is very complex. I think I just need to learn it a little better. Once its configured, it looks really nice.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what monitoring software is be good to use? I want to watch CPU, Network, GPUs, etc. Email notifications for numbers being out of bounds or services going offline are a must. Prowl/SMS/carrier pigeons aren't necessary, but would be nifty.
EDIT: If you are using a custom script, could you please share your code?
EDIT: Zabbix configuration was frustrating, so I've switched back to Nagios (configured with NConf) and Cacti with NPC (so that theres one web interface to look at).

Why so many trollcoins being announced?

The closed source part is only for protection and frankly i dont understand why some of you in here support people destroying things created by others. If you dont like an alt coin then simply dont use it. If its a scam only for some guy to get rich let people know. This doesnt give the right to anyone to demolish something created by someone else.
I don't support destroying things. I support building things in a way that others can't destroy. Closed source is not the way to do this. Closed source gives you a false sense of security and nothing more.

Used to be at least 50; now it's more like 40 (probably because of Ozcoin's now-gone 10 LTC bonus per block.) But with every CPU I use for it, I get a minimum hashrate of 50KH/s, and a max of about 56. Still, there are miners with 100+ KH/s in the pool I use, so I think that solo is a bad option for a lot of us.
What kind of CPUs are you using? The highest hashrate listed on the hardware comparison is the PS3 with 34. https://github.com/coblee/litecoin/wiki/Mining-hardware-comparison

Has anyone used litecoin somewhere besides an exchange? Are there any online merchants or services that use them?
I think the idea of a GPU-hostile coin is interesting, but it doesn't seem to actually do anything more or better than bitcoin can.
The only thing that is "nice" is the shorter block times so I can get my coins to an exchange faster and this isn't really what should be called an improvement.

This sounds like another scamcoin to me. The decision for a closed source client is the result of the multiple attacks on alternative coins. I am sure you all have figured this out by now.
This is incredibly dumb. You think closed source is secure? You don't happen to use Internet Explorer do you?
