13421  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is now a good time? on: October 01, 2014, 05:24:02 PM
Price to get in compared to months ago is a decent amount lower.  Always  do your own math and dont invest more then you can lose.

Personally i think its a good time to buy if you are holding long term.  But that is one opinion.
13422  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: faucet and nodes what are they? on: October 01, 2014, 05:20:54 PM
faucet is to run a giveaway
used by altcoin owners to run giveaway and let people join this
or you can say its a kind of advertising method

they make money by selling advertising space on faucet site

Okay which is good because we premined our altcoin for giveaways. So then I would need a faucet next

I would think twice about premine.  If you look at coins most premined fail.  If you do a launch and announce time with open to all you give it a better chance long term.
13423  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie, decided against mining, where is safest place to buy coins with visa on: October 01, 2014, 05:17:43 PM
started making an account with circle until they asked for my birth date and social security number

Assuming you are in US most will want this becuse of know your customer laws.

You can do localbitcoins without it, but you will pay a higher price.

Personally i suggest setting up a coinbase and have a bank account just for bitcoins.
13424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How do you determine which Pool is best for you on: September 30, 2014, 11:57:57 PM
I determine by best pay on scrypt.  With you using a graphics card i highly suggest you to change from straight scrypt as it cant compete against asics.
13425  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: faucet and nodes what are they? on: September 30, 2014, 11:51:57 PM
okay so if i wanted to give out coins on my coin i would need a faucet for that because we have premined for an exchange or more members using the wallet. the nodes we have a few connected to the coin as it was.

A faucet would only be needed if you are trying make money off others using your website to pay them.

You should be able to pay a transmission fee on most coins and it will be sent through nodes.
13426  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Changing IP Remotely on: September 30, 2014, 11:48:14 PM
I will be living abroad where the internet connection is not fast. I will have computers connected to the internet where I am currently living here that I will remotely connect to. I often need to change my IP address by first changing the MAC Address on my router and then power cycling the router and modem. Since my internet connection will go down after I change the MAC Address remotely, is there a product or solution that can still power cycle both the modem and router after the MAC Address has been changed which usually takes about one minute?

Can you use something such as team viewer on a pc?   What purpose is the changing of MAC address remotely done for?
13427  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which mining do you prefer? Cloud mining or Hardware Mining? on: September 30, 2014, 08:28:31 PM
Cloud is much cheaper but you must trust the producer.

Yes that is a risk but can be just as risky as purchasing from the wrong hardware (Vapourware) provider IMO

Not only the vaporware but cost.  I still am able to do cheaper hosting myself then I can get off cloud.  I do not have vat, have lots of room, and decent priced electricity.  I'm lucky to have all those things but cloud is not always cheaper.

And comparing a cloud that can not change pools etc really is not same as having access to hardware and selecting pool or rental site of your choice.
13428  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Requesting Some Direction: Where to find an ALL INCLUSIVE Beginners Guide on: September 30, 2014, 08:24:29 PM
Wiki of course and bitcoin.org!

Thank you for the reply!

Yes, definitely those two, but I was looking for more of a "User Manual" which is probably impossible to create without some large budget.

Sadly it is hard to cover all things.   With investing, mining, safe holding, etc all really are broad and a expert view in all will be hard to come by sadly.  And with things such as mining if you did write a book it would change a lot even after writing.

The wiki is a good idea.  But all inclusive sadly i think will be impossible.
13429  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stuck in Yerevan, Armenia with Bitcoins. Please help me sell ~700USD worth on: September 30, 2014, 06:23:56 PM
Have you thought about using credit card and sell when you are done?   I would guess you are going to do the bank/wire transfer and i think it will take a few days.  You might be lucky if you have a western union or something like that then you can do exchange quicker.
13430  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why don't miners... on: September 30, 2014, 06:02:41 PM
This would be great if offered by everyone.  With getting house rate and not business rates I personally don't have any options like this.

If I did the biggest problem would be the variance I cannot predict whole year as I don't know watts i will be using for mining each month.  I have added more then i thought so I would have came up short.
13431  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining still profitable? on: September 30, 2014, 05:56:46 PM
I can't find any hardware currently available that has a good chance to ROI. Any bitcoin miners that approach 1J/GH are already dead. Even the ones that are decent (e.g. Antminers) are way overpriced.

Scrypt mining is harder to predict given the less-than-predictable LTC difficulty increases...but I have to believe that with KNC shipping Titans now, that has to go up too, maybe even faster than BTC difficulty. And I can't find any Scrypt miners that are profitable either given 10% increases in difficulty. Some EBay auctions are absolutely ridiculous--thousands of dollars for 28 MHs miners. I wouldn't pay more than $10 per MH now, and there just isn't anything out there that is close to being able to ROI. Preorders (Volcano, etc.) are very risky.

TL;DR...no.

Why don't you try LTCgear which is $5.5/Mhash including a full year of free hosting? No hardware at home and still cheap hashrate with weekly payouts.

I like having the hardware in hand.  With renting out Scrypt i have been able to make more the regular payouts no secret there. With that free hosting o a year I don't think you own the hardware.  That is a huge con.  Selling hardware at end can add some extra profit.   With "cloud" you really do a long term lease, not buying hardware.

I have been able to successfully ROI each time i trade up.  This time will be harder if bitcoin does not go back up in price.   To do a ROI i really feel you need to buy a miner priced in BTC example is S3 compared to S4 priced in dollars with current exchange rate.
13432  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Connecting Antminer S1 to a college network? on: September 30, 2014, 05:48:09 PM
I recently bought an Antminer S1, and while its coming in the mail, I'd like to figure out how to hook it up.
My college offers ethernet, but it requires special authentication (even an xbox or PS4 can't be plugged in directly). As a wifi network, the network is WPA2 Enterprise (so there's log in credentials). Can the antminer s1 connect to WPA2 Enterprise? I'm up for any ideas for getting my miner online, and that includes wifi.

Are you able to use a wifi router to do it?  Some have like extender mode where they will connect to a network and use it.

If so I would try using router to connect to college network and plugging in to router to get internet for the S1.
13433  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: faucet and nodes what are they? on: September 30, 2014, 05:43:25 PM
So like an exchange would be a faucet?

A exchange you can change coins for a different one.

A faucet is its own beast you do something on a website and get a very very small payment.  For example a site has ad's you look at it and enter your BTC address and get a VERY small payment.
13434  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which mining do you prefer? Cloud mining or Hardware Mining? on: September 30, 2014, 05:41:41 PM
I think most will prefer hardware.  I wish cloud was cheaper, I just cannot justify the prices yet when i can do it cheaper myself.
13435  Other / Meta / Re: question on: September 30, 2014, 05:40:27 PM
The dates change activity are the same for everyone.  I would say you were lucky and registered before one of these dates by a few days.

In one of the threads explaining activity it has a link to the dates for quite a while.
13436  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any other forums where I can earn coins? on: September 30, 2014, 03:41:59 AM
Letstalkbitcoin.com and bitbiz.io
Can you describe more about those forums? Can I participate on signature campaign on those forums?

Your best best is bitcointalk on signature campaign.  It is a very high traffic site.   Only thing you will have to do is raise status some.   Most campaign's have a member as lowest status to prevent a lot of things.  I would read and get to know the forums here as you do you will gradually raise to member status.
13437  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: faucet and nodes what are they? on: September 30, 2014, 12:41:36 AM
Faucet and nodes are not really the same things.   I node is used for connection of the coins network.  A faucet is a site where you do something and get a very very small reward.
13438  Economy / Services / Re: Silver Wallets Signature Campaign on: September 29, 2014, 11:39:34 PM
I am interested in doing: For HERO MEMBERS ONLY- If you would like to participate in the campaign for 90 days and commit to 150 posts you will receive a Gold Plated Design 1 individually numbered Silver Wallet. That is a $150 value and we will only produce 100 of those coins ever. We have 10 spots available and will be very picky on the people we select for this one.

I am a hero member. I tend to post in mining help, and beginners but post a little all over.  I try to be helpful in my posts.  Please let me know if I meet your requirements.  I did get to meet your company in BTC Chicago and it is a very nice looking product.
13439  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how much I can mine? on: September 29, 2014, 11:30:30 PM
If you want to mine just for fun I found it easier just to mine when I am actively using the computer. I went ahead and bought one of the USB asic miners and run it once and while. Granted you won't make a lot but hey its an interesting concept. I plan on building a raspbery pi miner and running it in my friends house. His eletrcicy is completely free so I can lead into some profit there.

Even if free electricity changes of paying off the usb sticks are slim.  At their price per gh or mh, it is a novelty at this point for fun.  Your better off going for a S3 or something newer as far as price per gh.

I would be surprised if you can pay for the stick itself let alone a RPI to run it..

Affiliate pages? Are these even allowed?

I don't think so on linked page a referral link is hidden on it's links.
