1361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's 10000 TH network is extremely vulnerable on: January 08, 2014, 04:59:32 PM
The more hashing power you are producing the more expensive it costs when you pass a certain level of stability.

I think if it could be done they would have done it, no point in waiting this long.
1362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Generating addresses offline with BitcoinQt on: January 08, 2014, 04:56:01 PM
You can generate your own private keys using this command in Terminal:

Quote
echo -n 'sausage' | sha256sum

This returns the private key:
Quote
30caae2fcb7c34ecadfddc45e0a27e9103bd7cfc87730d7818cc096b1266a683

Then you can get the Public key from Bitaddress under the Wallet Details tab.

Just be sure to replace 'sausage' with your own RaNd0Mp@ZZpHraZ3! that no one knows.

Free Market FTW!
1364  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC hits 5,000 in 2014 on: January 07, 2014, 06:20:53 PM
Definitely seems like 2014 is going to be a big year for BTC
1365  Economy / Speculation / Re: I bought all my bitcoin over $1,000 on: January 07, 2014, 06:00:26 PM
Forget about how much Fiat you paid and just be happy you have some coins.

It's not about the Fiat anymore, it's about the Bitcoin.
1366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name the 0.0001 BTC unit - 1st POLL on: January 06, 2014, 05:39:27 PM
Bitcoin/Bit/Satoshi is the way to go. Each range of 4 decimal places will cover 10,000 units, which is easy to remember, and the names are easy to say. And look at this beautiful little thing below. You can express this whole naming scheme in two lines!

1 Bitcoin = 10,000 Bits
1 Bit = 10,000 Satoshis

Simplicity. Marketability. Roll-off-the-tongue-ness.

+1

We have a winner?

+1 for Bits and Satoshis
1367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name the 0.0001 BTC unit - 1st POLL on: January 06, 2014, 05:29:43 PM
I didn't vote because there wasn't an option for "Don't name it at all."

I am seriously opposed to all naming and converting of Bitcoin decimals to other formats other than simply 0.0001 BTC (Point Zero Zero Zero ONE BTC) or ONE TEN THOUSANDTH of a Bitcoin. It really helps put into perspective the value of the amount being offered and eliminates any confusion.

When you start saying millibits, billybits, bips and all this mess then people will disagree. How hard is it to understand that 1 Bitcoin has 1 Million Bits? Why should we name 5000 Bits something and name 10000 Bits something else?

It would make more sense to call 0.00000001 BTC a BIT, but there is already a name in honor of Satoshi.

So if anything, 0.0001 should be called 10,000 Satoshis which sounds way cooler than anything else on the list.
1368  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: OMG boost your mining speed!!! lmao (scam inside) on: January 06, 2014, 04:36:05 PM
Yeah that makes sense because it's the software that does all the mining not the hardware. You could probably install bitcoinminerbooster on a usb miner and get 100 ghs.  Tongue
1369  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New TOS of CEX.IO on: January 06, 2014, 04:33:10 PM
That is a strange use of wording. Are they referring to actively trading on their site and submitting buy/sell orders? Withdrawals are not published publicly on the site so that doesn't make sense.
1370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Taiwan’s Government Says No To Bitcoin ATMs on: January 06, 2014, 04:23:32 PM
Should probably ban Arcades too because tickets and prizes are not currency, neither are video games.
1371  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: Will the Bitcoin Price Hit $10,000 in 2014? on: January 02, 2014, 04:55:38 PM
I'm going with 1 because I believe in the possibility. I think a few grand is likely but we'll see. Go BTC!

1375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin does not work for porn on: December 31, 2013, 04:05:31 AM
Sell yearly subscriptions? You do bring up a good point about recurring payments, but even recurring payments don't work if the person doesn't have any money.
1376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Bitcoin dealers' wearing yellow trousers and orange shoes on: December 30, 2013, 03:44:35 AM
Or how about a T-shirt with a giant Bitcoin Logo on both sides that says "I sell Bitcoin"
1377  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Not] Good price at CEX.io on: December 29, 2013, 06:07:40 PM
It's pretty cheap now... It's like people overestimated the decline due to difficulty increase and panic sold all their holdings. I've never seen it this low before and the difficulty didn't rise THAT much.  Huh
1378  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will BTC reach 1Million per coin? on: December 29, 2013, 03:53:28 AM
Probably about the same time this thread is created for the 1 millionth time. We're getting close...  Undecided

Hey it's a free market right? Let the best product win and let the people decide.
