1362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: Price breaks $0.10 on Bter, Dgex on: January 22, 2014, 12:03:21 AM
Proposal:
We should establish an online "writers room", and have a weekly meeting. Day before/hours before: share possible headlines. Meet online, pick stories and delegate them. Based on interest and knowledge of the relevant issues. We will soon find out what kind of stories/articles fit who, and if we need more man/woman-power to the team.

Damelon/brooklynbtc will do "breaking news"? Hourly/daily updates. Perhaps readers should be able to choose wether to check this online, get tweets or receive a daily mail (morning or evening). This mail as an optional addition to the weekly newsletters. Some will consider it spam, others are gonna love to be in the loop, so let them choose.

As for the looks of the newsletter & site. Salsacz is asking for feedback about "friendly looks" or "corporation looks". Hash's logo was the first important step, but we are about to create a brand. We should coordinate. Newsletter/mag should have an identity of its own but still reflect how NXT is being marketed.

If we want NXT to overtake the world (as if not?), translators should get in after deadline. Chinese/Mandarin, Hindi, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, French + ? newsletter should be sent to the relevant media for further coverage of NXT.

IMO the website should definitely have an archive for former newsletter issues / articles.
nxtmag.org. I got it. Let's go. Smiley

More thoughts and feedback, people?

PS. "Friendly" and "professional" for me too…, Salsacz.

"Breaking news" would be hard for me to do, as I have a full time job. I compile the summaries in the evening with my plate on my lap. I like light reading with my meals, don't we all? Wink

I can probably do "breaking" if we define it as "check the sites about four times a day", provided we divide the sites, as there will be more and more news sources in the coming months, I think.

Weekly meeting is both a good and a fun idea.

By the way, I own nxtpages.com if it's any help. If not, it will probably become some kind of nxt directory Smiley

So what do you guys think about NEM then?  Any different?

NEM won't be able to go ahead without full source, will it?
I trust utopianfuture, though.

Nope, nothing will happen until April, I suggested he build on top of the Nxt blockchain, would be way more successful. We are going to have many clones of Nxt, and the successful ones will be on top of Nxt blockchain and able to utilize features.

Just looked at the NEM thread, and it has taken off more than I thought!
As I say, I trust utopian, and will follow that thread.

FrictionlessCoin, my question is, if more and more people begin to know that they cannot move their LXT in or out of Bter, wouldn't the price collapse soon?

If you can't move NXT into BTER either, then you can't sell it.  So the price stays the same.

I really don't know what is going on over there,  all I know is that when I fire up the NXT client,  it gets stuck sometime early January.   I don't have time to investigate, nor do I care.

I've decided that building off the NXT code base is not worth it,  so I am taking a different but better approach.

The great thing about these threads is that you discover new things.  I think we have finally discovered how to make 100% Proof of Stake secure.  Our approach is quite novel and has not been done before, so I'm really excited about delivering this!!

I think you will find that announcing things and not delivering has been done to death on these forums.

1367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEX :: descendant of NXT - Imagine Fairness! on: January 21, 2014, 11:15:28 PM
Frictionless - you've already stated that you are starting from scratch:

NEX will be working on an entirely new code base because NXT itself is not worth building a foundation on.

And yet your first post still claims to have multiple features completed:

You should edit your first post to inform everyone that the features which you claim are complete are actually not completed at all.

So basically he now has nothing but the concept anymore...

1368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 21, 2014, 11:13:25 PM
So, apparently FrictionlessCoin has given up on the NXT source altogether now.

If it was a joke,  then why spend the time to write a long essay on it?

Basically because it's beginning to look like a scam more and more.
I was really willing to think you had some good intentions.
Yet you are now going to take money for stake, which clearly is against your stated "fairness" principle. You hide the fact that you are actually receiving $100,000 at current price and are calling it "charity". When given the alternative of burning said NXT you ignore the question, now up to a total of four times.
You have used people's intellectual property and only reluctantly removed it after numerous requests.
You have stolen an idea for leveled coins from someone who posted the plan only yesterday and made it look like you were doing him a favour.

In short, in the space of not two days, your ACTIONS put the lie to your good intentions.

I sincerely warn people to be so very careful about this.

I am a NXT holder. I put that out here to at least be open where I am coming from.

Check these facts in this thread and in the others for yourself:

Great then let them destroy their NXT by sending the coins to the genesis account!
You get proof of the transaction and can issue NEX accordingly!

But don't put NXT with a market value of several thousand dollars in you pocket!

Do you honestly believe I will keep the NXT that would be received from this?

Of course not, you will cash out (most) of the one million NXT you hope to receive

Again: Let people destroy their NXT for NEX if you really believe they are worthless.

yup... you got it... cash out 1 million Nxt.  You have a problem with that?

Getting nervous sweetie? Wall of lies ("this coin is free and fair blablabla") breaking apart?

Be honest you want to be paid in NXT, that is all you want because you believe NXT is very valuable!!!

Again: Let people destroy their NXT for NEX if you really believe they are worthless.

Why don't you reply FrictionlessCoin?

Requoting this till there is an answer to a legitimate question: if Nxt really is worthless, why not let them destroy their NXT for NEX?

NXT Newsletter

Hi Pin, NxtChoice, utopianfuture, brooklynbtc, Damelon, allwelder, fmiboy +

TEXT

I have to get back to work now. Got a final deadline 01.03 but I will have more time after this week. Please post your thoughts, I will check in daily. Thank you! Smiley

Signing in!

I agree basically with what you posted. First aim is cat. 2.

A mix of information on what has been achieved (this feeds the feeling NXT is moving forward) and if possible some human interest stories.

Also giving some of the regulars on the forums a "face" will help. Putting in some characterisation on well known people helps make NXT more "human".

My summaries are basically made the same way. I purposely put in the thefts, too. Could leave them out, but it's news, too.

Is there a possibility for an archive? I like the idea that people could look back in history, even when they came months later to NXT. I have read up on the first thread by BCNext and it's great to read it knowing what we know now.

Keeping people informed of small details is good, too. Even a small hiccup on a market can be news. Generally, I am not afraid at never having news. Anything can be news.

Are we dividing tasks based on area of interest or do we do it differently?

Edit: by the way: I like "friendly" the best.

The REAL reason the value of NXT has spiked.

Pic

Coincidence?  I think not.

Cheesy

Seems legit.
1374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEX :: descendant of NXT - Imagine Fairness! on: January 21, 2014, 05:50:26 PM
I'm interested!  Smiley

NEX open source from the start. Why would anyone prefer the closed source alternative? (NXT promised the sources for January, they now say April; it will probably never be fully open source. This is too bad for serious money)

lol you haven't done your home work.   How do you think NEX is going to get their source code?

The hard way... reverse engineering it.

Anyway,  we saw underneath the covers.... it is complete garbage.

Anyone who holds Nxt coins can lose every one of it at a moments notice.

All accounts are accessible by everyone and are protected only by a password that can be brute forced by a hashcat farm.

Please explain how 256-bit encrypted accounts can be bruteforced. Do you have quantum computers? Does the NSA know about you?

Even 64bit encrypted accounts will take quite a few computing years to get brute forced. How can you make such unsubstantiated claims?

"They" are professionals...

We are professionals

See?
1375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEX :: descendant of NXT - Imagine Fairness! on: January 21, 2014, 05:12:28 PM
Tish tosh.

Hardly gentlemanly behaviour to see the idea (however great) of Level Coin, and immediately swiping it.
Your offering him a job at YOUR coin was icing on the insulting cake.

If you want to use Nxt's code, fine. That's legit. But you are keep using work done by others (video's, articles and now ideas that people are proposing themselves) to further your plans.

I more and more get the idea you are an intellectual sibling of Eric Bauman of eBaumsworld.

He also had the nasty habit of swiping stuff off the net, "because, you know, ideas and creativity are free", sticking his dreadful logo on it and using it to monetise.

He álso had the habit of basically shitting on the creators when they came to complain by telling them they were getting free advertising so they should shut up.

People like Bauman represent the worst side of the internet. They steal because they can and clothe their deeds in big words about freedom.

I had some sympathy for this project, but it's turning more and more into some weird crusade and strange project about this undefined concept of "fairness".

NXT is worth btc at the moment.
Exchanging NXT for NEX is therefore accepting money for stake.

People without NXT cannot acquire this stake.

That equals inequality. That, by your logic, equals unfair.

Are you suggesting people should buy NXT to be able to get a bigger stake?

1378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 21, 2014, 12:21:45 AM
I have good news for u dudes. They added Nxt!

Boom!
That should create some more interest :-)

The aim is to be sure it's one voter, one vote. (I hope)
I am not tech savvy enough to ascertain that within a digital environment without giving up identity.

Is there?

Nope, it looks like a fundamentally unsolvable problem.

That's why other methods are proposed, like PoS and PoW (captchas, etc.).

Maybe this will help to spark some ideas on a good voting system:

http://www.mathgoespop.com/2012/03/and-the-award-for-best-voting-system-goes-to.html

Tai Zen

An AI tech friend of mine dabbles in this kind of system and will be proposing it to municipalities in the Netherlands.
He calls it "modular voting" where you basically get a bag of votes that you can distribute over issues in a weighted system.
Thanks for that link!

I would just like to throw one thing that has been mentioned by a few people into the arena and then call it quits for the day on this topic for me:

At this moment it is not yet clear whát we will be able to vote about. If it's development of the total Nxt infrastructure, then it's hugely influential.
If it's basically relatively easy things, it isn't all that dangerous anymore.

I agree by the way that major development needs to come out of the community itself by developing features, and are not voteable topics, unless they would upset the balance of the total system (if that's even possible)
