Where did all these hashes come from???

If you are hashing and your pool has no mandatory fee, make sure you donate!!

If you are one of the new people at http://ebt.crypto-pool.fr, then welcome and set up a donation ASAP. I'm not the operator, but they have kept the pool open during some very lean weeks.

Mintcoin has nice goals, but that can't change the fact that EBT got them earlier. Go with EBT.. soon it will be among the best!

There are only 250 million coins total, so very rare compared to mint, and it's trading just a little higher than Mint right now. Amazingly cheap and easy to mine PoS coin.

You'd be insane not to get some EBT.

In terms of profitability, on paper it is just as profitable to mine EBT as it is to mine Mint, if not more so. The only difference is that the mintpal exchange works very well so Mint coin trades with a volume that allows for a lot of liquidity (i.e., you are practically guaranteed a buyer or seller for any quantity at the market rate).

As a corollary, good luck on buying significant amounts of EBT. One medium-sized purchase will send the prices very far northward.

Man what you wanne tell us  transparency is wrong. and if there is JUST 1% why to hide?
hink they sold it, why not tell us?
why start a new coin SHC under a different account. I asked the DEV there if he is hendo.
he answered that he isnt, why all this shaddy things and no answers?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=460037.4240
here you see why premimne yes or no is important
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=464476.1400

You are a kind like sevoque on the panda thread

I'm just saying that people put too much focus on the premine. If a coin is good, then the community can support it without the original developers. If they are pump and dumpers, then they will dump early and it won't have a long term effect on the value.

Also, they developed the coin and made a premine. What they do with the premine is their prerogative. That's the free market. People mined knowing the stats and took a chance. This coin happened to become valuable, so now everyone is worried about the premine. If the developers already rewarded themselves for starting this coin, then good for them. But if so, they probably dumped too soon.

Everything would be fine if you guys
would show us your actual share of the premine

Who cares about the premine? All this coin needs is KGW implemented.

A good dev team shows as much transparency as possible

1% isn't much to be transparent about.

I'd rather see a client update.

[edit]

Plenty of people have mined nearly 1% of worthless coins. They only complain about premines of valuable coins, instead of just being happy about the value. What the devs do with the premine has much less to do with the value of a coin than the hashes it draws.

The latter could be greatly improved for 42 with a client update.

What do these people mean by "getting out" of a coin? Are they going to dump?

It would be pretty naive to dump at this point. You have to look at market fundamentals, and I mean BASICS...which I'm not going to go into.

I should make another 2 week time capsule and store the hashes in the BEER blockchain again, for fun.
1369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Doge coin is bad on: February 18, 2014, 01:22:25 AM
These innumerable discussion board rants by bitcoin investors are undoubtedly a consequence of a misguided belief that altcoins somehow hurt the value of bitcoin.

This notion is wrong. Here's why: To buy an altcoin, altcoin investors generally need to acquire bitcoin first. Every new altcoin is thus a new product that can be bought with bitcoin, increasing its demand.

In conclusion, your premise is stupid. Your arguments are not valid. And your rant is counterproductive to your own interests.
1370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Doge coin is bad on: February 18, 2014, 01:17:13 AM
I didn't read your analysis, but I assure you it is wrong.

Just like money has no "intrinsic value", coins have no "intrinsic badness" or "intrinsic goodness".

Your premise is stupid.
1371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *Game on: February 16, 2014, 11:59:19 PM
Seriously guys, the wallet is not in good shape. I usually open it every couple of days and for hours there's just no active connection. I've already all the nodes posted in these threads.

I am just using the nodes listed on the announce page, it takes a while sometimes, but it always syncs for me.  But yes, it will sit there for 10 minutes looking like it is doing nothing before it does sometimes.  I don't know, been hearing a lot of complaints of this though so if there is a legit problem hopefully the dev is on it.

I'm not mining mint, but I am following it closely. I should say that there is something wrong. It's probably not the wallet because the p2p code is the same as for most other coins (although I haven't looked at Mint's code yet). But when I give the client the full list of nodes in MintCoin.conf, it can't connect to any. It finally connects to a pool in China and can sink from there.

I think that this set of symptoms can only come from two sources:

1. DDOS attack, where the conf nodes listed in the topic post are specifically targeted.
2. Everyone has the same conf file copied from the topic post and all of the nodes in the list are maxed out (i.e. maxconnections=100). It then takes the client some time to stumble on working peers.

In my experience, Mint's behavior in syncing is just barely better than dying coins, so it might be a good idea to address this problem sooner rather than later.
1372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *Game on: February 16, 2014, 04:56:46 AM
My wallet can't get any active connections. The debug log says the client has tried every host in the example conf, has connected to a few and then has been dropped.

Is there a DoS attack afoot?

[edit]

I got one good connection here: 115.28.129.207, which is a Chinese pool listed on the topic post.

haha nice, you've been supportive since we started... nice call

It wasn't luck. My analysis is frozen in the beercoin blockchain.

One thing I didn't mention therein is that your response to the money supply confusion was quick and decisive, so I knew buying was a safe bet at that point.

What is beercoin? and what do you mean it was frozen?

"What is beercoin" is a good question because there were several, but only one is alive:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=436419.0

(I should say that it will probably never rise to the prominence it should because the 5% premine is a little excessive.)

By frozen, I mean that SHA512 hashes of my analysis are recorded in these transactions:

7eb2c0a21fbb0fecce11ccb63d39d978a0369c8918b22476afe6836e423e8787
e4ea5224d79c62d337bd7a2e008f7e33b7f5d2f357b6a6d8a9602feb448bd39a

As promised, I will release the messages to which the hashes within those transactions correspond in about 2 weeks.

What should I be thinking?

Here is the beercoin transaction ID of the transaction where I put the SHA512 hash, as a comment, of what you should be thinking:

7eb2c0a21fbb0fecce11ccb63d39d978a0369c8918b22476afe6836e423e8787

Here's the hash:

923ec4567865733ba5e4b917ce92a745cde5f966dd02a83b39eee713b85d4ffaea7a0a9e7346119 f1b9a250ddeb29814c8f1d084056d5aa40fc2470a1cb69d4d

In a couple of weeks, I'll give the message that the hash corresponds to. I chose to store the hash in the beercoin blockchain because it's the only wallet I have right now that takes comments. Unfortunately, no one has put up a block explorer for beercoin. If you want to verify the transaction ID, you'll have to download the beercoin wallet. Also, in case you doubt the ability of SHA512 to resist birthday attack, you should realize that bitcoin transactions are hashed SHA256.

I dont really understand - is there something hinting at a large premine??

0.42 premine / 1.36 current supply = 30.88235294117647 % Shocked

That number was obviously much higher when it was being dumped and/or given to sketchbag sites like 42Dice.

Even higher if some of those buy/sell orders are proven to be counterfiet coins.

Has anyone seen their 42 deposit triple itself lately ? Roll Eyes

Ever since mine did, I can't help but wonder...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=246679.msg4651738#msg4651738

That only works out to a 1% premine if you count 42 coins tho; also.. the triple deposit. Thats.. odd??? I cant see how that can be explained?

I can explain it. Except for the math on the first line, everything you just responded to is bullshit.

Also <= 1% premine is relatively conservative at the moment. Hippietech has an agenda. I wouldn't trust anything he says at this point. A rational, truthful, person would have moved on by now. He got his 42dice investment back yet he is still here, spewing nonsense. That reeks of a hidden agenda.

The most obvious explanation is that he probably has a favorite "limited supply" coin somewhere and operates under the misconception that the value of 42 (or any other alt) influences the value of his own favorite.
1379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 42 | + | + super rare + | + | + | + only 42 coins to be mined + | + | + | on: February 15, 2014, 03:02:54 AM

Total Supply is 1.36

So right now the buy orders above 150 BTC / [42] account for about 10% of the total supply of 42.

Think about that, kids.

I thought about it and concluded nothing. What should I be thinking?

And its only 4% now.

You need me to tell you what to think? Well, I'm not going to.
1380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ★★ EBT Coin - Crypto Assistance! Added to Pmtocoins!! ★★ on: February 14, 2014, 09:38:59 AM

Have a little patient. EBT is one of the few coins that isn't hyped pumped and dumped and thats good as it is.

If you are looking for fast money right now than you are certainly wrong with EBT.  EBT is doing quite fine so far in my opinion  and is an investment in a possible future value more than many other coins.

You can take the chance and mine as long as it's below the radar with a chance of a very nice value to a much later time or you can give up right away and believe it will die.

I for one love those coins that haven't value now but may get attention later. I lose my power cost in the case it really dies.. well that risk I am willing to take. It's not the only coin I mine so a total lose won't have much impact ..however on the other hand when it gains attraction the return can be really really great. Smiley

This about sums it up.
