1361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I was shocked that my Neighbor also used bitcoin as mode of payment on: June 07, 2023, 06:41:20 AM
Good for your neighbor, you can ask them if they did their research before setting up their bitcoin payment option and if a single customer would be enough to keep such payment option up considering they would be paying fees to withdraw the bitcoin to your local currency.
Or if they plan to hodl the bitcoins gotten.

1362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beginners Should Avoid Leveraged Tokens Trading on: June 06, 2023, 04:54:33 PM
Beginners have no business using leverage while trading or playing around with futures. It is very easy to have your share vanish while trading if you do not know what you are doing.

If you are not absolutely sure of what you are doing then avoid putting money into it.

1363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Illuminate this tiny brain of mine because I am focused. on: June 06, 2023, 04:41:34 PM
What is a security?
A security in finance is any asset or financial instrument that represents some value in an industry and gives its holder some form of ownership.
For example if you invest in a stock or share of a company you own a percentage of the company, making the share a security

How can they tell which token or coin is security and which is not?
On research the best answer I got is that they consider which crypto is sufficiently decentralized and determines that it is not a security. I can only think that decentralized projects cannot give ownership cause there is no central point of control.

How will these exchanges know what they did wrong if there is nothing that proves that a particular token is security?
No clue. They declare more crypto tokens to be securities at intervals and exchanges can easily fault their regulations unknowingly. Or maybe they send a memo as at when they make it official, we can only speculate.

1364  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: A Non-Custodial wallet, Atomic Wallet, being compromised on: June 06, 2023, 07:42:00 AM
Yes. Internally, locally... What is the difference? The point is that the seed phrase and private keys are created, stored and accessible by your wallet software.
The slight difference is that on one end it is stored in their logs and any breach on their side can access it or the software themselves can easily steal your private keys and on the other hand it is not stored in their data logs but on the user's wallet file and not directly accessible to them.

There is always a risk when dealing with soft-wares even those that are open source, but is is much safer choosing one which is open source and reputable.

1365  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you learned about open and close source wallet? on: June 05, 2023, 02:07:56 PM
Following up the discussions on the issue many users are talking about how they have used Atomic wallet for years without any issues, this is the perspective of many Bitcoin enthusiast; they value the long standing "reputation" over evidence against it, so if a wallet like Trust wallet has existed for a long time with little issues millions would still use it despite the warnings against it.
This is same with Coinomi and Atomic wallet.

And the most important thing is an open source wallet doesn't mean the security is 100% safe.
The user shares some (a whole lot) responsibility in keeping their assets safe. It being open source allows you to be able to verify what security they use, how they generate and store seedphrases...
A user might not be able to do this themselves but can do research on discoveries about the wallet.

1366  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can this fix a Problematic block in Bitcoin Core? on: June 05, 2023, 08:50:55 AM
You will have to provide some more information like what sort of error you can notice and if it is in your candidate block or one already confirmed on the blockchain.

The blockchain is immutable, meaning it is not subject to change. You cannot make changes to a block that has already been confirmed and added to the chain, if there is any malicious activity going on, using consensus the malicious chain can be abandoned and everyone would continue with the genuine one.

1367  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: A Non-Custodial wallet, Atomic Wallet, being compromised on: June 05, 2023, 08:33:14 AM
Every wallet stores customer seeds and private keys internally; it cannot function differently.
This is incorrect, electrum does not store your private keys, it is stored on your wallet file locally (on your device) and encrypted with your password.
Closed source wallets could be doing it differently and keeping logs of private keys, (we would never know) which a hacker can access if they breach their security, which you cannot verify either.

1368  Other / Meta / Re: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) on: June 05, 2023, 08:17:48 AM
Guys, dont forget to use a"/reset" command.
Thank you for this. I had run the character limit command for some days now and did not notice any change in the character limit, although I did not pay much attention to it at the time.

Just headed over here now to seek a solution to it and saw your reply straight away.

1369  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] whirlwind.money | Redefining Mixing | Signature Campaign ~Up to $150/week on: June 04, 2023, 06:28:08 PM
I don't even think that this campaign is open for senior members because OP said it is CFNP but can only consider applicants that is a former CM member in the nearest future, which implies that only former CM participants can apply.
Hhampuz said it is open to both former CM applicants and prominent members;
We still consider applications so make sure to drop yours if you are a prominent member or a previous chipmixer participant.

TBH, I am still not certain about the relationship between  1xbit and 1xbet here in the forum. 1xbet seems to be genuine site unlike scam 1xbit. I could be wrong also.
They are both apparently owned by the same company (1xCorp N.V.), with 1xBet being the parent brand and 1xBit the knock off. If they are related it is safe to assume that 1xBet is a scam as well which operates their scam activities through 1xBit

Could it be that the celebrities are not aware of their scam activities if they really scam.
Outside this forum you rarely hear talk of 1xBit being a scam and the link between them is not amplified, they pay review sites to whitewash their image.
AFAIK 1xBEt have not run a signature campaign here.

1371  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Loan business here how on: June 04, 2023, 04:05:20 PM
Any adivece ?
To run a lending service you need to build your reputation and be as professional as possible in your service. There is already quite a few lenders on the forum with high reputation, competing with them is a challenge, more so for an unknown newbie.

How much i can earn ?
Depends on your interest %, it ranges for different services. And how many people actually use your service.

Should i ask collateral always ?
If you are asking this question then do so. Appraising those requesting a loan to determine who to offer a no collateral loan and who not to would complicate your service, you might also not be able to recover from the loss of a defaulted loan.

1372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆 The Emirates FA Cup - Season 2022/2023 on: June 03, 2023, 07:38:18 PM
Predictable win for the financial doping cheats with 115 pending charges against them...
I would have said you are a sore loser but you are a Liverpool fan and did not technically lose today. And it was a predictable win, City were not at their best tonight or Manchester United know how to keep them off their fluid game which they have used to lethal consequence though out the season.

Another expected win for them on June 1oth, but the game of football is full of pleasant surprises, just maybe we have one of those moments next weekend.

1373  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Outdated Electrum Wallet: My Experience. on: June 03, 2023, 04:00:36 PM
Updating your electrum wallet is not a sensitive issue that needs to be done all the time, you canwork with older versions of electrum in your air-gapped device comfortably without the need to switch to the latest version. Updating your wallet probably brought it back to sync with the latest block and as such displayed the accurate amount of bitcoins in it.

You can take some more precaution just to be sure like sweeping the funds to a different wallet which may be offline, try clearing your hard disk to check for any bugs or malwares.

1374  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: First time and how I got interested on it on: June 03, 2023, 01:56:31 PM
This year is my third year anniversary in  Bitcoin, but I'm not perfect to invest, but I will try my best to learn more and to acquire more  knowledge, and learn how to invest.
You were introduced to Bitcoin in late 2021 and from then to now is less than 2 years, you were also not interested in bitcoin at the time so it took you a couple of months to try it out. Give yourself a target of a month or two to get to understand the basics of security and wallet, and then maybe another month to study the market, DCA strategy and best places to buy. At the end of this experiment you would be a better investor and be able to buy and safely store your bitcoins.

Do not rush the process, pick a time-frame that is comfortable for you.

1375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: $90,000 all in bet on: June 02, 2023, 07:57:51 PM
It seems a little dodge that you decide to post about this on the forum and not as a reply in the French football discussion board [1] but as a thread of its own in the gambling board.

It is a risky bet and taking risks like this is one way to run through your stake capital very fast, except you have a pretty big bank and can spare a little bit of loss here and there.
The game is in the 55 minute and 2 goals have been scored so far, still enough time for your prediction to be reached.

1376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it a mistake to make a separate Bitcoin channel on YouTube? on: June 02, 2023, 02:12:14 PM
My target audience is van dwellers, and others living offgrid, and who are considering Bitcoin as a form of saving and wealth protection.
Is this not too small a niche to target? The way I see it you are narrowing down the potential target audience a bit too much and that could affect the type of contents you push out or optimization strategies you use.

For the type of channel you are considering you should not expect massive traction or views as @stompix pointed out you can just focus on doing what you like and improving the quality of your contents, eventually you would get some audience, particularly those who are tired of the repetitive nonsense available online now purely designed to be as sensational as possible.
You will never know how it would turn out until you try.

1377  Other / Meta / Re: Are there proper template for ban appeals? on: June 01, 2023, 07:52:39 PM
If you are banned

Your ban message may have an email address which you can email. If not, then appeals are unlikely to be accepted.
You can send an email to that email with reasons you should be unbanned.

For creating a ban appeal thread, ensure you maintain a single thread alone and do not make any posts outside meta. Any post outside of there would count as a ban evasion, for example, it is best you edit this thread to your appeal thread when you have gotten your response or create another one and not reply here again.

Are there specific template for a certain ban like for ban evasion, spamming, etc.
None AFAIK. You cannot even appeal a ban evasion, only the reason for the initial ban.

1378  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning]: New Bandit Stealer targeting crypto wallets on: June 01, 2023, 06:06:32 AM
So the principle hasn't change, they are dropping their dropper on emails and those who are looking for crack softwares. It could also spread and carry out in Youtube wherein there is a link that supposedly download a free softwares.
Another reminder not to click on random links or to react to unsolicited messages regardless of the source. Importantly, protect your personal information in order not to be a target of hackers if your email falls into their hands.

1379  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: offline air-gapped electrum on: June 01, 2023, 05:57:50 AM
All makes sense now, the offline wallet always can be 'zero' because its only job is to sign transactions.  It does nothing else.
Yes, it can possibly not be in sync with the blockchain cause it is offline. It just signs transactions.

Restore the wallet in an online device using the "Master Public Key". This new wallet (actually it's a same wallet) is your watch-only wallet. You can check balance, get addresses, create transactions. Everything except sign and broadcasting a transaction.
Online watch-only wallets are used to broadcast transactions. It can do everything except signing the transaction, cause you need the master private key to do that.
Offline air-gapped wallets cannot broadcast transactions.

1380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Transaction Accelerator. Does it Work or Just Another Hype? on: May 31, 2023, 02:03:24 PM
It's something you can do yourself by placing another transaction with a much higher fee than the one that's stuck on the network, I don't see any need to use Bitcoin transaction accelerators if you really understand how the blockchain functions.
You are referring to CPFP ~ Child Pays For Parent, which involves spending some of the unconfirmed transaction outputs so the miner has to confirm the parent transaction and the new one. You have to use an attractive (expensive) enough fee to compel a miner to include both transactions in their block. This is not a better alternative to a free service where you just have to submit your txid.

I have used the ViaBTC accelerator in the past and it works, but it was so magical to me at that time because I don't know much about how Bitcoin works, but today I have finally understood that a lower transaction fee is why your Bitcoin is stuck in the network.
ViaBTC does not increase the transaction fee paid, it includes the transaction into their candidate block for confirmation.
