1361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Great way to make Bitcoin! on: April 20, 2017, 05:29:25 PM
Making bitcoin when you started was so hard. Like me I'am newbie, but I was not stop until I was earn bitcoins. For me joining to signature campaign is one of the great way to earn bitcoin.
Well there are some users here also a newbie but they earn more compared to other old members here maybe they are not active here and focus only in trading or some online jobs to earn bitcoins

That's right. They are is not really a newbie. I believe who talk about trading in this forum,
but her rank is newbie, it's not a really newbie but their is a profesional trader who join in this forum.
Yes, trading is the best way to make Bitcoin than investing, gambling and mining.

More like that is an alt-account of someone who is already a veteran of this forum who is probably farming accounts or just plainly making new accounts for himself.

About trading, it could be profitable, if you know what you are doing.
1362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Secret, Dangerous World of Venezuelan Bitcoin Mining on: April 20, 2017, 05:17:04 PM
Quote
Alberto, meanwhile, based on his own account, is earning more than $1,200 a day mining bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies.

If he manages to do that his electric bill would be enormous. And not in terms of usd but of KW.
With the government unable to provide 24/7 service I doubt he would be left alone mining with that kind of gear.

In maximum a month police would be at his door.

I expect he has the miners distributed across many sites to disguise the electricity use. According to that article he is taking huge precautions - living in a poor neighbourhood that doesn't get raided, wearing old clothes, keeping a low profile. It also said he had about a dozen relatives he is supporting, and I guess in return he is getting them to keep the miners on their premises.

Poor neighborhoods are the most raided. Also the one where power is cut more often.

You need 100 S9 for that income. How did he managed to get close to 300 000 dollars to buy that equipment?

Something is pretty fishy about this story.

This was obviously a while ago, so it is not entirely unlikely. If he came in early when they were still mining with CPU's and GPU's then he would

have been mining a load of coins with a much lower difficulty factor. Some people "steal" electricity and mine with much higher profits than

people that have to pay utility bills.  Wink

That is the reward for early adopters of bitcoins. You earn from being one of the first people to trust it and you profit because it was quite easy to get one, but at the time they were mining it the prices were really low so that means they were not really profiting much at the time they did it.
1363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Reason Bitcoin will always be #1 on: April 20, 2017, 04:54:46 PM
Is because the name "Bitcoin" is the best name for a crypto-currency.

No other name will be as good.
Bitcoin will always be a number one for me. I got a money, one of my source of income. Easily to earn, I became a hardworking student. It changed my life, my beliefs was also changed. I become eager to earn more money and to save my money or bitcoin. I became economical, industrious, and persevere.

That's really great to hear that someone has been changed by bitcoins. I commend your for being a working student and you are earning from cryptocurrencies. However, for now bitcoins can be said to be the undisputed number one cryptocurrency, but there are quite a lot of problems that has not been solve which could really break it.
1364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dear Satoshi Nakamoto on: April 20, 2017, 04:45:35 PM
Dear Satoshi Nakamoto I would like to know your opinion about all the blocksize bitcoin drama.
Blocksize drama will not over for sure and all these spam attacks on bitcoin network can't last long because it will cost so much for attackers. When all this attacks will be over, there will be no any problem regarding mempool being full with unconfirmed transactions and rise in transactions fees.  Wink
Yes,many such dramas would continue even in future trying to split bitcoin and fill their pockets. But as usual, all such attempts would fail and bitcoin would last long as the king of crypto coins.

Can't say that much for bitcoins, unless we do something about the problems with bitcoins then we can't really scale to bigger heights. Look at it this way, if bitcoins will take forever to confirm at low costs then that would really be a turn off to the new users especially merchants who would want to wait for 1 confirmation atleas.
1365  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC doing good after this big dump on: April 17, 2017, 02:27:20 PM
Earlier this month I have made a prediction of Litecoin going through the $15-$20 levels in the coming months, and I still stand by that. In that regard, I share some of iamnotback's optimistic stance regarding Litecoin. However, I am also aware of the fact that Litecoin is a coin that adds absolutely nothing to the real world beside it functioning as a speculative investment opportunity. So yes, once the hype is over, Litecoin will tank and go back to far lower levels, where it will remain stagnant for a long period of time (typical Litecoin behaviour). The hype around Litecoin will last until Segwit activation has been cancelled (due to pools dropping support), or Segwit being activated (which results in the hype to fade away when people realize that Litecoin is still the same obsolete coin).

As of right now the coin that's going obsolete is bitcoin because it's simply too hard to change, and this is a positive trait in itself but not if you are aiming for real everyday usage, which is where LTC with segwit and LN kicks in.

Cryptos are useful in making certain payments like paying for a VPN. If nothing changes, we'll see $1 fees in BTC. Who is going to pay things like those type of subscriptions with BTC when you got LTC? get real. BTC will stay a hodlers coin as long as the necessary changes don't happen.

What is the closest thing we have to a scalable BTC? LTC. Becuase they are the same, so you can easily port code, so BTC development isn't wasted in testnet and can be ported in a real ecosystem.

I see LN development moving to LTC because without segwit you are developing in crippled mode.

So do the fucking math.

Of course, this is all subjected to our miner overlords which can decide to stop signaling for segwit at any time, this is the gamble side of this move. You either sell before the last days in case Jihan does a trick (risking going to the moon after "segwit activated" news hit the press) or you hold through (risking that Jihan shorts after ruining segwit activation). Good luck.

the thing you don't understand is that bitcoin does NOT need scaling right now. there simply isn't enough transactions to fill the 1 megabyte blocks yet.
you have fallen for the public scam called "Spam Attack". when there are thousands of useless transactions being sent out and even miners who are filling the blocks with junk you see full blocks and a big mempool but in reality the number of transactions is not that big.

i suggest you start looking for evidences and proofs and then use your own judgement to make a conclusion instead of reading some propaganda on the forum or elsewhere and repeating it.

and litecoin is just a gateway for bitcoin. SegWit and LN will be tested in real world instead of a testnet with no use and if it was successful it will be activated on bitcoin too and if not then we try fixing it and if not successful we will finally move on and litecoin will die. (better LTC than BTC).

p.s. just FYI miners are our employees. their opinion matters but they are no more than a small part of the whole bitcoin. it is the community who can not decide what they want otherwise if we reach a consensus we can easily force their hands.

Im not falling for shit, look at the facts. Im aware of Roger Ver's spam attacks, in any case, it's a matter of time BTC fees and speed become a problem for (again) usages like buying VPN or whatever, let alone seeing people using it in OTC in shops.

Without segwit and LN mainstream usage is impossible. When will BTC get segwit? Never with 95% consensus, so UASF is the only way, and we all know that's a bumpy road. It's yet to be seen how it's resolved. Meanwhile, LTC can have a smooth transition to massive scaling without needing UASF or anything controversial because it's getting miner support, so that's the place to be.

Of course you can wake up with a crash at any day because miners control the price, but that's a part of the gamble.

What is almost guaranteed is, BTC will not smoothly get segwit, so I expect big price swings in the process (if a UASF ever happens)

This is really why other coins are gaining traction. People are now seeing the inherent problem with bitcoins and we can't solve it since no one wants to give way. Bitcoin's only edge now is the amount of users it has now and that it was the first cryptocurrency that got this far.
1366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Impulse gambling on: April 15, 2017, 03:10:09 AM
Anyone else here impulse gamble?

After a bad day of trading, I sometimes hit the dice and try to go positive. Most of the time I end up losing even more. I can't control it.

I've been there. Quite a lot of times. I also lose more when I do this and just end up losing a lot more than I lost in trading or on my sports betting. Dice is a killer really. You are better off just doing a yolo bet and wage all of your bankroll in one go and see what happens. I also can't control it sometimes, maybe the trick is not think about it since that's what I do when I lose.
1367  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are signature campaigns really working for gambling sites? on: April 15, 2017, 03:07:57 AM
I really wonder this. I never clicked a signature ad and am wondering if it works for gambling sites. I need to be enlightened in this topic, because it looks like a waste of money to me.
Believe me, they are working just fine, even better than some people might expect.

You don't need to click every signature. It is enough that you see them, that way you'll learn name of the service sig is promoting.
From my experience I can tell you: I discussed many times new or interesting service I found via signatures.
I learned about many casinos, promotions, ICO project or services that way. The mere fact that they are around is enough.

Yeah, people tend to remember the product or service they see in the ads that makes them subconsciously choose that product for their own use. Come to think of it, I used a lot of services I have seen here on the forum just because I see them on people's signatures and avatar.
1368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to Win using martingale system? on: April 14, 2017, 01:05:08 PM
Yes the luck is still following me, i made a cashout at 0.5 profit
http://www.imagebam.com/image/506028543240446

start at zero again on another dice site, its faster than before
http://prntscr.com/evzlpr

 Grin

Congrats dude! which site were you gambling on and with [1]how much bankroll you started?
martingale is risky be careful! i have lost too much coins martingaling my bets.
[1]His profit from the screenshot is 0.5 BTC and all his balance is 1.5BTC Do you still need to ask again how much bankroll he started? Wink
Did he really used martingale? He is using big bankroll which not many people want do that.
Yeah he has used a big bankroll. With martingale strategy big bankroll is required to avoid loss. The same is not effective when you play with small amount. At times even this won't work effective, it too depends upon the luck factor which always plays big on the gambling than any strategies.

Even with big bank rolls you will likely just lose all of those in he long run. The system really requires you to have UNLIMITED BANKROLL which no one has! Because it assumes that the bankroll should be able to pay any long losing streak. You will likely run in to a long losing streak regardless of what chance you set.
1369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What gambling method are you using for Dice? on: April 14, 2017, 01:01:30 PM
I think the most popular gambling method in Dice game is martingale, I usually use that when I gamble and sometimes I win a considerable amount of money. But, I know it would not bring me long term success so I am just contented when I win for some time and I know luck is the main factor to win as there is no method what will work in the long run as long as that house edge is present.

Yeah that is the most popular, I've been using it for quite some time and never did I really profit from using it. So I would say that it is not effective even for a single bit. So I advice anyone to avoid it. You'll likely just lose your money than really earn from it. It's really a flawed system though it is easily understood that is why it is popular.

1371  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: bitcoin dice casinos. Is it profitable to have such casino? on: April 14, 2017, 12:50:52 PM
Hello,

I saw that there are so many bitcoin dice gambling sites and new ones starting each day.
So my question is if owning such site is profitable?
How much starting capital would be needed to start dice gambling site?
Yes, It is very profitable but you need a lot of funds because that is very expensive business because you need to secure that no one can hack your site and get all of your money and your gambling site should be unique for gamblers go to your site because that is the most important the gamblers that is going to your site.
Yes it really take a lot of money to start a bitcoin dice site because you will need money for to make your site an established site and without that investment the site will die out like  number of casinos whose owners do not have money and are unable to support their service.
yes that is also right but sometimes if he will not have money for running the casino then it is ok we will take care of that casino and will pay you some extra money.

Having enough bankroll is one of the most important part of having a casino. If you don't have a bankroll big enough to sustain it then you'll likely close down immediately because someone just won a big amount of money from one bet. Anyway, casino owners can always ask for investments.
1372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to spot a gambler addicted? on: April 14, 2017, 12:45:34 PM
A gambling addict is always busy gambling. If he is so pre occupied even though there's not that much to do at all, he's probably just busy gambling.

Well the logic is there, spotting an addicted gambler is easy that way. Most of them are busy gambling and doesn't have enough time for other things. But there are addicted gamblers that aren't that busy, they may be doing some other things but they keep on thinking about their first bet for this day after their work.
I don't think that we can consider a gambler thinking about gambling during their work without gambling since addiction in gambling leads a person to gamble more which causes them to lack their time to other activities. In this case, a person that has control doing no gambling but thinking about it can not be consider as gambling addicted.

It might be addicted gambler but still he is responsible because he know that he don't have something to gamble if he is not going to work. There are people that are working for gambling. I consider them to be an addicted one, because why they do have to think about gambling and instead of focusing to their work, they are thinking other things.

Well you can still consider him as an addict since he has some sort of habit he can't break like this. He still thinks that gambling is part of his life and he need to work for him to gamble something. That's part of being an addict, but it is just a low form, I think. Maybe he should just set some sort of limit instead.
1373  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What keeps you coming back??? on: April 14, 2017, 12:39:31 PM
I do not gamble to much but it always seems that when I do, I take the loss big time.  For example, I have lost over 3 BTC in the BustaBit game online.  It is fun and I like to play but I always get greedy with it.  I have won about 2.2 BTC back, but I lost more than what I have won.  For some odd reason, I keep coming back over and over.  I do not know why I do it, why do you?
The reason why we come back are to come back our money if we lose but if we win they wants to make more money or more profit.

It's not really the gambling site that makes us come back but our own greediness and the actual want for gambling or easy money. I find it also puzzling because i don't consider myself a gambling addict and i don't have that much interest in gambling all out. People lose a lot but that doesn't lessen the urge for them to gamble. Perhaps these people find something more in gambling other than money though it's really hard to know other reasons

Greed is a hard enemy to fend off. A gambler must really exercise extreme control t prevent himself from gambling until he losses everything. That is the problem with addicted gamblers, they don't know when to stop and they always think they can get back their losses which just gets them more buried in losses.
1374  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are signature campaigns really working for gambling sites? on: April 14, 2017, 12:33:18 PM
I really wonder this. I never clicked a signature ad and am wondering if it works for gambling sites. I need to be enlightened in this topic, because it looks like a waste of money to me.
I think signature campaigns are working for the site yes, advertising strategy of the site developers and admins to spread their site off to different and many bitcoins users in this forum.Signature campaigns really do help the sites to get more players and get well knowned and it will never ever a waste of money

Yeah, and the good thing about advertising here is that people use bitcoins and they get to encourage them to use it in whatever site signature campaigns are advertising, be it gambling, services, ICOs and other like services that get advertised on signature campaigns.
1375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Worst mistake in gambling on: April 14, 2017, 12:27:36 PM
What are some the more idiotic and stupid mistakes that you know you shouldn't have made but did anyway. Yes this includes other none gambling stuff like sending btc to the wrong address. I'm interested to find out the stupid things other people do.  Roll Eyes
Betting maximum amount in any chance of winning is my worst decision in terms of gambling.I mostly deposit about 0.2- 0.4 bitcoins and play at max bets at 90% chance and aim to win the 10% of my balance and its shit.Im winning first 2 or 3 max bets and when im really comfortable in my last bet then i got bust.
I've never made such a mistakes by sending bitcoins to the wrong address. One among the major mistakes that I made while gambling is the betting on a wrong name thinking of a different player. The same caused me to loss around 0.3 btc in a single event.

That can happened, it happened to me once. Good thing it was just 7mbtc and nothing really significant. Betting on the wrong side is also common, when I was still using martin gale on nba, I sometimes get confused and cause me the game. I once bet 0.6 on an NBA game and lost because I got confused.
1376  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you choose casino to play? on: April 14, 2017, 12:09:52 PM
Well, so many casino has a very good record, as directdice, primedice, and much more. that you have to do to select is, by seeing forget. when you play in a gambling site, and it does make you so comfortable, because the number of ads, or a nightmare, perhaps it was not the right choice. maybe you should find a comfortable place for yourself, because everyone has a different idea about it.
seems we're just a like. I'm also finding a good casino with a very high reputation to play on because there's a lot of casino that didnt have that reputation and some of them are scam mostly in bankroll investment. and i've also tried playing in a lot of casino websites and there's a list of the top 10 bitcoin gambling site who has a good reputation and good feedback about them. it's on google.

It is a good criteria for choosing a casino. Well I think it is the most important one, as you will most likely have problems if you play on casinos that don't have a good reputation and then you'd be complaining that they cheated your or they ran away with your money. That's common in small casinos that just started.
1377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Inspiration on: April 14, 2017, 11:56:23 AM
my purpose in gambling is not for fun but for the money even though I didn't really expect much of a gamble because I know getting money from gambling is very difficult. I don't quite understand my inspiration to play gambling maybe because I need the income to meet my needs aside from work.

My purpose is fun though. I tried doing it for money but in the end I just really had a hard time getting back my losses and in the end I got buried in more losses. So I think you should really reconsider your thoughts about gambling. You should not really play for profits.
1378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How did you started to gamble? What was your beginning like? on: April 14, 2017, 11:19:21 AM
unfortunately in my 2 years of gambling in casino I never won a cent and always go home with nothing to bring. Sad

how the hell do you gamble for 2 years and never come with something home?

you obviously didn't follow your moms advice then  Cheesy

you only followed it one way through, you cut losses when you lose, but if you want to win you need to cut wins too
the more you play after you're in plus it means you're getting closer to losing

you need to know when to stop even when you're winning

I've never brought home much too. More losses than winnings most of the time, the best I brought home was a measly 10% of my original deposit. That's all I can get from it. Guess my luck seems worse than others most of the time. Wish I can get a chance to even double my money whenever I play.

Damn, that's tough luck

I won around 150$ on a free 5$ registration bet in a casino nearby recently   Cheesy
*fruits*

What were you playing?

Playing dice for sure. I always do get greedy and try my luck at it and never do win in the end. Sometimes I have doubled my money already but in the end I got really greedy and bet everything on a single bet at 90% chance and bam. Everything was gone. The lesson I learned from it though, is to know when to walk away.
1379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: what is definition gambling in your mind? on: April 14, 2017, 11:14:26 AM
In order to call something gambling, 2 requirements must be met:

1. Putting money at stake on order to make more money

2. Having negative expected value

Many people like to say that trading is just gambling, or buying Bitcoin is a gambling, but if it's impossible to prove that expected value is negative, then you can't call it gambling. This is the main difference between gambling and investing/trading. Gambling is also usually instant, but not necessarily.
Well, the positive thing is to look always at the bright side, never on the downside. Everything has risks always, and that's what can challenge us the most. The difference is that money is at stake. Some people want to gamble to earn profits, and that's what everyone wants.

In life we do indeed have plenty of gambles, we even gamble everyday without knowing it. Think about it, we try to live our lives in hopes we can have a better one, that's a gamble right there. Haven't you guys thought of, what if my life doesn't get better? What are the odds of it getting better?
1380  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What did you buy for money won? on: April 14, 2017, 11:06:55 AM
To be honest, I basically haven't won anything.

I tend to bet on probability games more than anything else, which means that I end up losing overall, but I don't play with too much money.

If you spend the money outside of gambling it'd basically just be spending loads of money since you'll just lose more money later.

I feel your pain, bro! I haven't won anything serious every since I started gambling. I once won 0.015 bitcoins and I spent it on steam games so that's what I did with it, aside from that I've not won ever to be able to spend something on it. I wish I can win about 10 btc, but that's just wishful thinking.
