1381  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The day mining become unprofitable! on: September 13, 2014, 11:06:09 AM
Anyway mining will always be profitable for someone (as long as bitcoin doesn't go to zero). Because whoever is doing it unprofitably will turn off their miners, boosting profits for everyone else. Eventually mining with leading edge technology in a low electricity cost area will stabilize somewhere at a comparable rate of return to other investments... i.e. 6-10%ish per year.

It is somehow true but there are more noobs in this world then you can imagine. A lot of people is mining at losses thinking they are securing the network..

1383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wow Doge is exploding right now on: September 13, 2014, 11:00:13 AM
Dogecoin hashrate spiked from 70 GH/s to 570 GH/s and keeps growing after auxPoW feature was introduced. The hashrate could soon be exactly the same as Litecoin's hashrate as pools can mine both coins without any trouble simultaneously. Which effectively makes all 51% FUDsters shut up. Now that the only advantage of Litecoin is gone, and now that it can never compete with Dogecoin's marketing advantages and huge active community, Litecoin's days are numbered. By the end of 2014 marketcaps of both will be equal, if not sooner.

Nice, it is more secure then ever.. no more 51%..
1384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin only - Done with altcoins - so much scam on: September 13, 2014, 06:34:02 AM

1385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU mining? on: September 13, 2014, 12:28:13 AM
Sadly days of GPU mining are over even if you have free electricity , better get some Asics if you are interested in mining.

Agree, GPU mining is over, was really good when scrypt asic was not around..
1386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you interested in Bitcoin because of the concept or to get rich? on: September 12, 2014, 02:43:07 PM
I dont get how bitcoin give the concept of getting rich...
1387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining gear on: September 12, 2014, 02:42:08 PM
You can use them to secure small alt coins you like when they become unprofitable with bitcoin or we can use them to attack networks like equador that think they can out hash us.

Has anyone setup a pool to attack coins?  I know it's kinda of.. not nice but it would be an interesting idea.

Attack coin is unprofitable, I dont think anyone would wanna do that right?
1388  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What can I use Bitcoin miners for other than mining? on: September 12, 2014, 02:41:30 PM
Correct me if I am wrong, anyone, but I believe you could use them for brute-force password cracking.

Since SHA256 is an encryption standard used in cryptography far more outside of Bitcoin, you could (presumably) use the hardware to brute-force and crack encrypted data/passwords that use this encryption standard.

You can only crack password with GPU.... but you can use it to heat your swimming poool..

1395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: USB scrypt miner too good to be true? on: August 24, 2014, 08:08:26 AM
Hello

I just found this usb scrypt miner a few days ago:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/I-n-stock-Litecoin-miner-USB-8G-litecoin-mining-machine-8G-for-Asic-Miner-LTC-8GH/1983456516.html

Product page says it provides 8 GH/s hashrate, so it looked a little weird for me. Spoke with the seller on skype and he confirmed
that it has such hashrate. I remain very sceptical.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Shay

Its either a scam or it is for sha-256 and not scrypt. Not worth taking the risk..

1398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bittrex killing the altcoin market? on: August 23, 2014, 01:50:24 PM
I don't understand why bittrex is to be blame when its the coin's problem? People should invest in trusted alt-coin like litecoin darkcoin Smiley
1399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt ASIC miners on: August 23, 2014, 01:46:58 PM
Where can I buy from?
I took a look at gawminers.com, zoomhash.com and minereu.com
And before I buy one, wanted to make sure, If there is any better site?

I thought of GAW Hashlet, but what stopping me is I can't point my hashing power to whatever pool I want.
So is there anything like this? where I can buy a hosted miner, but with full control on it.

Appreciate any advice, It's my first time buying one.
If anyone is wondering, my budget around 300$-500$

Thanks in advance.

Dont buy scrypt asic as it is pretty hard to ROI. Look at all the miner that is going to come which will drive difficulty up..
