Transfer with bluetooth? Please explain more! Maybe i'm missing something but what about internet and blockchain connection? Bluetooth is not connected to the internet am i right?  Huh

You can't do a 'Send Digibytes' using Bluetooth, but you can make a transfer via Bluetooth when you 'Request Digibytes', which I'm assuming is the first building block for merchant customer charging. You first choose 'Request Digibytes', enter the requested amount, then select the checkbox for 'Accept payment via Bluetooth for more reliable processing', and, finally, the person making the payment to you scans the QR code, and, voilá, the coins are sent!

Wallet feedback is not highly developed however as there is nothing that overtly indicates a Bluetooth transfer has taken place. You can infer that it has happened nonetheless since the transaction is instantaneous but unconfirmed until included in the next block to be created in the blockchain . . . at least this is how I deduce things.

What you said about the theoretical basis of any DGB transaction is correct though - it has to be part of a block within the blockchain - and since a direct device-to-device Bluetooth transaction circumvents that fundamental requirement, it must be assumed that the Bluetooth transaction is basically cosmetic and somewhat illusory, and really doesn't exist until finally included in the next block created in the blockchain; this assumption is basically confirmed by the empirical data gathered from actually going through and monitoring the process.

DibiByte, et al., please correct me if I've got something wrong here. Also, I'd love to be able to change languages since I'd like to be able to post screenshots that everyone can understand. Thanks.

What about 2FA on desktop wallets & online webwallet? I believe the Electrum wallet supports this,Correct me if i'm wrong but would love to use it.
Anyone more info about this?

Well, you know my opinion about anything online. Kind of like hanging your money out on a clothes line with the clothes.  Cheesy

I agree about it being important to do everything possible to increase security without excessively burdening the user. 2FA is one such way. It's what some banks use. Another possibility is email confirmation, much like we see when doing a Cryptsy withdrawal. I also agree that, whatever the option, it should be integrated into the wallet itself.

By the way, I had fun the other day installing my first Android wallet on my Tab 3. After successfully sending some DGB from my laptop, things got even more fun as I installed on my Note 3 and SCANNED the QR label to make a BLUETOOTH transfer from one to the other!

The Spanish translation is top notch. Kudos to the translator.

But I'd still like to know how to change languages.

Topic about the most undervalued coin,Come over and promote Digibyte Smiley
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1002657.0

I gave you guys some ammo, now go knock it out of the park  Cool

Nice job. Great quick summary of DGB milestones.

Hard to add much by way of strict accomplishments, but testimonials, anecdotes, etc. are plentiful I'm sure, and I'll bet they're of interest to readers as well. What do you think about DGB? Why? What was it that convinced you? Etc.
1384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most undervalued coin? on: March 27, 2015, 09:25:13 PM
pesetacoin, i thought was under value too until i discovered a wallet stealer in the latest client. So, no, it's dirty and not under value. That coin doesn't deserve your money.

Wallet stealer? Sounds like a con to me. What does this look like to you? https://www.google.es/search?q=bitcoin+wallet+stealer&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=rskVVYmMB87vaq7lgWA

Care to elaborate?
1385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most undervalued coin? on: March 27, 2015, 05:48:28 PM
Everyone will say their coin is undervalued, heck I am sure the PayCoin folk are saying that too  Grin

I have been a professional SHA miner for about 2 years now and mined them all.
Anything form MZC to DGC, from TEK to DEM, I mined them all.
Only coin that is at 100,000 times undervalued is DigiByte.
DigitalCoin, I like their wallet but that's pretty much it.
Lately, trades have nearly halted on Cryptsy.... one investor bought BTC10.0 worth of DGB's though! Wink

Here's a few awesome features:
  • It'll be the fastest coin @15 seconds - Next Update Wallet 4.0 - DigiSpeed - Currently 30 secs
  • The creator of DigiShield - used by other coins for their security
  • Can be mined by nearly any algo
  • Received a $250K investment towards opening new offices
  • Focused into becoming the PayPal of cryptos.
  • Is extremely active within the BitcoinTalk community
  • Consistently delivers results and new features
  • Active developers (Jared Tate)
  • Community of enthusiastic and talented people who drive towards the coin's success
  • Has its own tipping app
  • Has a large supply meant to easily adapt to an increasingly large audience (1,000x more than Bitcoin)
  • Only a little over a year old.
  • Have a deal with retailer TofuGear Hong Kong

Get yours whilst they are cheap at around 65 sats right now; but please, go read the thread, many miners have converted entirely to DGB.
Some even no longer even own nor mine any Bitcoin!
Go read the thread, it's the largest next to Dark.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=408268.0

The OP is enlightening if you never went Wink

That's an excellent executive summary! Way to go!

I disagree with the idea that there are "hundreds" of viable alternatives to DGB. It's quite the contrary as I would say that you can count the serious contenders with the fingers of one hand, in-so-far as initial coding and basic security go anyway. However, when it comes to the real life implementation of a global payment system, that all changes, and we are left with only one contender, maybe, if we can consider a Model-T a contender next to a Mercedes.

Can you name one other developer that has made the kinds and number of useful contacts that Jared has? Can you show me another cryptographic digital currency that has consistently delivered like DigiByte has? No-one has a track record that even comes close! How about innovation? Is there even a close imitation out there trying to at least pretend they are building infrastructure around their coin? Are there any DigiShield equivalents out there where the Devs offer to help out with the individual implementations? DigiByte represents the standard in professonalism and Best Pactice in this sector. Can anyone show me anybody who is even close? What's more, DigiByte is once again offering to help other coins improve! That is leadership and DigiByte has become the undisputed leader in the field in every sense of the word.

Read DigiByte's last post carefully: as well as even better and more improved security, we're talking about Microsoft technology that improves effeciency, VISA like capacity and functionality, and built-in scalability. Who else has even had the vision, much less begun implementation?

This is much more than transaction speed, much more. This is critical mass where something takes on a life of its own and becomes what everyone else wishes they had thought of (and been able to build).
1387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investigation Complete of Instamines and Fastmines for almost every top alt coin on: March 26, 2015, 11:37:04 PM

Oh my!

A very possible big winner here that was on my short list!

It's very difficult (to not say practically impossible) to find anything against this one at all.

Nothing but positive here. Unless you can uncover something I have no clue about.  Wink

Introducing ★★DigiSpeed★★ Hard Fork

What is DigiSpeed Hard Fork v. 4.0?

DigiSpeed will allow DigiByte to match Visa in transaction carrying capacity!

1) DigiByte block timing will increase from 30 seconds to 15 seconds.
2) DigiByte block size will increase from 1 MB to 10 MB initially, with built in future increases.
3) Custom block propagation code based upon Microsoft research will dramatically increase network efficiency.
4) DigiByte transaction capacity will increase from 140 TPS to 5800 TPS (Visa averages 1736 TPS).
5) DigiByte reward will stay on track for 21 Billion DGB in 21 Years.
6) MultiShield will be improved even more to allow for even greater security (90% of 1 of DGB's 5 mining algos, plus 51% of others will be required for an attack) making MultiShield even more secure.

These changes will make DigiByte the most secure, fastest and largest transaction carrying-capacity, decentralized, POW cryptocurrency in existence.

We have already been busy the past two months behind the scenes, researching, studying and analyzing if it would be possible to expand the DigiByte network to be able to handle the average daily volume Visa handles and make these changes. We are now confident it can be done.

Please give us feedback & let us know how you can help us test these changes and prepare for the hard fork! We would love to work with others devs, including the Bitcoin core devs!

There's a minor issue with the Android wallet: if you click on your address and then 'open in browser' you are seeing a page full of ads (explorer.cryptopoolmining.com).
Another problem is, that my DGB never received my Android wallet:

http://digiexplorer.info/address/DGvgbyYNMt6MSmpug9Da514m4YpwkBXL2m

You see 999DGB incoming with over 400 confirmations. But balance is still 0 Sad

Here the same with android after every sending to my mobile, need to reset the whole blockchain.
I hope they get this fix soon.
How can you reset the blockchain on your mobile?

But I think it's not a wallet issue as I see the transaction with 1600 confirmations on the blockexplorer and it's the blockexplorer which still shows 0 balance for the receiving address. I'm really wondernig what this is Huh

Very strange. The address should show a 999 balance regardless of whether you've synced the wallet or not.

Edit: I just looked further. The "transaction" was included in an orphaned block. The original sending address should still have those 999 DGB. Check the balance and transactions of the sending address. Your DGB should still be there.

So guys, lets say hypothetically I want to move nearly 8M DGB from the exchange that they are currently on and lets say that when I attempt this, it fails because the transaction is too large. In fact it turns out that even a transaction as low as 100K DGB is too large but I did manage to pull a small amount close to 33K DGB off. I'm starting to feel a bit boxed in, 100K too big 24.9K too small?

The exchange support report the reason for this is that;
"The issues with the DGB are due to wallet fragmentation on it. There are too many small inputs in the wallet currently and it simply cannot combine them into a single transaction with 512kb in size. You can try smaller amounts - 100-200K usually go through without a hickup. We have no intention of holding your coins in any way - this issue is common to all the ctrypto currencies, as there is a working mechanism to make smaller inputs out of larger ones, but no working mechanism to reverse the process. We apologize for any inconveniences. "

Surely you don't expect me to make a few hundred 2FA transactions to retrieve my funds I ask.

not at all they say, this is what they said;

"Your best bet would be to sell the DGBs off for other currency, such as BTC for example and withdraw them - that is if you need the coins right away. Other option is to try once in a while. There is a very small turnover in the DGB wallet, which causes it to be fragmented. But when someone makes a big deposit - that usually solves the problem. Really this is an issue with all the coins in essence - it just does not happen much on the more popular ones because transactions go in and out all the time and keep the inputs refreshed."

What do you think about this guys?

Had the chance to research this further, and, more importantly, to do some testing.

excited to see how digibyte would look after 3-4 years

If you buy and hold, there's a good chance you will be a very wealthy person. If not, give it a couple more years when the block rewards drop even more.

hope youre right. but i dont see this going to 1 usd ea. it would have 21b market cap if that happens

Why not?  I think it's still far too early in the adoption of digital currencies to guess about where they will or won't be in 5 or 10 years.  But, it's entirely possible that DGB could reach $1 per coin.  It helps to put things into perspective, I live in the State of California.  Last year, the GDP for California was nearly 3 trillion USD.  If all the 21 billion DGB existed today, (which they don't), and if the value of DGB climbed to $1 per coin, the market cap for DGB would still only be 0.7% of the GDP of California.

If you add up all the current market caps of all digital currencies you'll get something near $4 billion.  Last year, there was also something like $600 million in woldwide venture capital invested in BTC and other digital currencies.  So, let's just round up to another billion, and add that to the total current market caps.  That means that there is probably somewhere around $5 billion USD invested - total - in all digital currencies and companies.  Even if you add a couple of extra billion for miscellaneous costs and investments that are not accounted for in market caps and venture capital, we can still pretty easily estimate that the total money in digital currencies today is less than $10 billion.  So, just to put that number in perspective ... all the combined money in digital currencies is around 0.3% of the GDP of just California last year.  Apple Computers made about almost $15.9 billion dollars between October to December last year (3 times all the money in digital currency).  Goldman Sachs earned about $2 billion in the fourth quarter 2014 (so in 3 months that single investment firm made 50% as much money as all the money in digital currencies).

There's no reason to go on and on with examples.  The plain and simple truth is that digital currencies are still in the very preliminary stages of adoption and, at present, they are incidental to overall economic activity.  DGB has enormous room for growth, it is part of a great new technology.

Just to add a few more numbers: last I looked, the USD M2 money supply was around 11 trillion dollars. The Euro Zone easily matches that amount. All in all, the developed world's USD equivalent money supply is somewhere in the range of 55-60 trillion USD.

21 billion is peanuts.

Oh, and then there's the inflation thing with those fiat currencies suffer from, and with one of the original reasons for investing in a cryptographically secure digital currency being the very fact that it's a hedge against that inflation, DGB could easily go to $2.00 someday, or even $5.00, or $10.00, all depending on just how much the good old greenback, et al., are debased in the coming years.

210 billion would still be peanuts.

Hey everyone, don't lose sight of the forest for the trees!!!!

Being ripped of has nothing to do with transparant coins.  Bitcoin and Litecoin are transparant for example, but the hacks happen on centralised exchanges and evil darknet markets. The more transparant a coin is, the more target it will become of hackers. Instead we should tackle the problem and i think it's time for a decentralised exchange now.

Hacks are the exception. The norm is that insiders (those that run the exchange, the paper wallet creator, what-have-you website) make off with the funds themselves, and as long as they can continue to get away with it, they will keep stealing and saying "hope you guys understand."

Transparency means accountability, as in you can't hide. Transparency means you have to identify yourself.

The stealing won't stop until we end anonymity.

Then we might as well end cash, and end the use of private property, and anything else that belongs to the individual and what one might consider anonymous. In fact, why don't we all just implant government made gps trackers into our bodies, so that the gov can see and know what we do and where we are at all times.

That's a sure way to stop stealing isn't it? /sarcasm.

Anonymity>Transparency in most occasions, unless you like getting treated as a dog bound on a leash.

So, what your saying is that you wouldn't mind buying a house and not having your name on the deed/title?

I want my name on the title, and on my stock account, and my bank account, etc., etc.

And I want a documented transaction for everything I do. Why do we use escrow if not? I want an identified person or entity on the other side of every transaction, and I want the transaction documented. That's how we make theft much more difficult and actually put people in prison when caught (and not let them 'retire' to the Caribbean).

Crypto is just a bunch of juvenile delinquents until we put it on the same plane as the rest of the world's time tested financial products. That's undeniable.

Sad indeed, but wasnt that used for illegal drug market? Thats kind of risky to begin with Tongue

I feel you though, often before adding a coin that feels 'shady' I keep second guessing myself.

Just another heist in what is becoming a very long list very fast . . . and that's because everyone refuses to even recognize the issue for fear of losing their "anonymity" (which is really only an illusion to begin with . . . most likely perpetuated by those who continue to rob the sheeple blind).

I wasn't affected. I'm not that stupid.

I am interested in taking crypto legit though, and that is what motivated my post.

Great to see you still plugging away. Whenever I want reliable mining stats, or someone asks, Whattomine is the answer.

Take care, and best regards.

Are you for real HR?

I’m not even sure what your comment implies .. suggesting we are not transparent is wrong but comparing us to a deep web drugs market is somehow missed completely.

Even if .. I just wonder how can you imagine owners of a drug market to be transparent? It’s terrible what happened and hope justice will be made. In case of DMD you can see our details on LikedIn, can talk to us here, our forum and Skype. If you lived somewhere close we could even meet in a pub for a chat.

Sorry if I misunderstood you and you just wanted to express your general view on ‘backing transparency’ with which I agree. Generally, I’m in favour of enforcement of regulations in crypto world to reduce scams which are devastating to the industry and inhibit wider adoption.

Regulations are coming and we want to endorse them. We’ll see a lot of changes in this respect by the end of the year.

Nothing particularly different about DMD. It's a generalized issue. What is it that makes this kind of unpunished thievery possible? "Anonymity" is the one word answer.

Transparency means accountability, as in you can't hide. Transparency means you have to identify yourself, and this is terribly needed everywhere, with DMD being no exception, of course.

The stealing won't stop until we end anonymity.

I also suspect that history will show that the main reason why the coins that will survive actually survived was because they took the transparency/accountability route . . .

Again, nothing DMD specific, just a very important issue common to the crypto world . . . something that will ultimately separate the men from the [what the outside world sees as juvenile delinquent] children.
