Is the Onix update the only one that is required for the system to operate for the foreseeable future ? (Going dark for a couple of months now)

Evan has said he's now concentrating on InstaTX - he works fast. You might be OK for a month.

Enjoy your off-grid time! What are you being sent down for?  Grin

do we have to update the masternodes? does not sound like it in the announcement

Yes you have to update your Masternodes. Feel free to take your time about it though!  Grin

Pools will have to update every months or once the enforcement is switched on the MN payments will increase automatically?

The changing reward splits are coded in, so they just need to update before Hammerfall, not every month.

I imagine there will be further updates needed for other reasons though - InstanTX etc.

It would be good to have a collated list of potential masternode hosts - including the private ones on the list here.

I don't know if I want to continue with Amazon. I've taken my masternode down and I'm scared to put it back up because I just get charges flying straight into my bank account from nowhere.

I really have no clue how to predict what they're going to charge me - even though I'm on the so called "free tier".

I've moved all but one of mine (other reasons for keeping that one there) off Amazon and onto a provider with a sensible 500GB monthly bandwidth and better hardware specs. Fixed monthly cost, no surprises.

I completely understand how to generate the raw transaction from the transaction ID. And the newest version does not change a thing. What happened was, there's about 200 mining payment inputs, all gathered together for that meager total. So the raw transaction is massive and it simply will never be accepted with the console line limited how it is. What I need is an alternate way of entering, that gets around line length limitations. Anyone?

I can PM a pastebin link to anyone that wants to have a go. Or I can just put the link here if that's acceptable.

OK, for future reference, consolidate all your micropayments bit by bit into a single lump in one address within your wallet before trying to send it anywhere. I'm amazed the qt client let you try and send it in the first place. Anything over 5000 bytes it should just tell you to get stuffed.  Smiley

Do you still see the amount you tried to send in your balance, or has it disappeared into limbo? If it's still there, do what I just suggested, if it's in limbo, delete everything in your .darkcoin folder except the wallet.dat file and fire up the wallet again, see if that helps.

If those don't work, try using the darkcoind daemon instead.

Close your qt client if it's running, open a terminal in the directory with darkcoind in, and type
Code:
./darkcoind
followed by:
Code:
./darkcoind sendrawtransaction <62kb hex crap>

Is DRK planned to be part of the blocknet ?  Shocked Shocked Shocked

Looks like the sort of garbage a croak gobbler would fall for.

I have a transaction that has been being broadcasted for 6 days now without any takers. How long must I wait to have the program give the coins back and tell me the transaction was a failure since I was cheap with TX fees? Or how do I eliminate the transaction while the program is not running? Or is there a node I can add that will accept my meager TX offering?

Basically the amount is less than 0.15 DRK and I only paid 0.00033 DRK for TX fees. I have stopped and started the program many time. And I have checked the log, and I see it making an effort.

Would this help you? https://darkcointalk.org/threads/frozen-transactions-why-it-happens-and-how-to-fix-it.1649/

I've managed to hit a roadblock...

I deleted the peers.dat, put some addnodes in the conf file, did the rescan, then waited while another computer on a different network caught up with the blocks. With the 60kb+ raw transaction saved, I tried to send it again on the other computer, but I noticed the commandline can not be as long as I need. So what I need to know is how to split it up, redirect it in, or pipe it in with a commandline.  Hopefully someone can help me out while I try to figure it out as well.

 Huh

Just cut and paste it in. It can be longer than the length of the box, if you're talking about the qt client. You could paste the complete works of Marcel Proust in there if you wanted.

It will not take it all. I've tried over and over. The raw transaction is 62,254 bytes all it will accept is 32,748 bytes. I've just noticed I'm only using v0.9.13.15, I will update to the latest and try again.

example:

getrawtransaction 52123febc4f61fe384252a64ee7daebabc3cabae97b7954b90aa70232794d5f0

0100000001a09c05d6f32801adc8592ed17214b88d8cfd643448d6cfa5fadd1a0c4b34cdf400000 0006b483045022071be3697934aa53ed86f217b34531e3f4f0ecb6c41df8f221f536e5005621ee4 022100fe06e286452a3cdecb8fecd67f05d8d7b9357759c9cf86f7500d2aaf2e12b757012103abb 9442be150b2499450c29f76880430ee1959b3c419b3dbb8f5289a34cf70ceffffffff01605af405 000000001976a914edf6e6c268f77059c701fee4c05276af662fbed988ac00000000

Blue bit is what you need to paste in. How are you ending up with something 62KB in size?

Yet I recently came to the conclusion that BTC market is still a huge FIAT drain. A black hole where "normal people" put their FIAT money in order to let most or even all of it disappear.

My guess is, that by now, there are more people involved in this game than the number of the mined Bitcoins.
And that means that average people (excluding the lucky early adopters and wealthy midterm investors) should not be able to buy a full coin by now if exchanges were used to simply buy and sell coins. The market must be leaking fiat like a spaghetti strainer. The most skilled trader are sucking out all the fresh fiat which arrives into the market from the average people and then some more (hence the strong downward trend).
Most of the traders aren't keeping their gains in BTC (as they should) but periodically withdrawing it in FIAT. They enter the market with X fiat (or alternatively some BTC they bought a lot earlier) and leave with X+Y fiat but negligible to zero (or less than their initial) BTC.

And I don't see this changing any time soon.
When FIAT inflation will really take effect, they will just starve for even more FIAT and sell any BTC they held.

Interesting analysis.  Grin

Who in the community provides masternode setup services still? I'm looking to make a list

Also, is there a good guide somewhere?
Question to the community? Based on this post I'm thinking there is a need for people like Mangled Blue and others that offer this service to help increase Masternode count to reach goal of Evan Duffield(3000 Masternodes). My son has the skills to setup MN's and also has web dev experience. We have talked about setting up a website to offer this (MN setup/shares) service. Website being a place users could go to monitor MN status and Huh other services. Not to downplay great service like Elerbeth's site but more user/customer specific. Thoughts?

Nothing at all wrong with your plan. Advertise, sell shares (maybe don't call them shares, some jurisdictions have all sorts of legal crap you need to be careful of) and offer a monitoring service. Pulling the MN info from a running daemon or out of the blockchain is reasonably straightforward.

Gold ?? - monkey hammered by an endless supply overleavered paper shorts

That loaded deck can't last any longer than the rest of the house of cards. I think the stackers will have their day, possibly sooner than many expect.

I dont mean to step on any toes, just enquiring...are people involved in drk getting promo videos done? Reason I ask is that I brought it up previously and didnt get an answer (think other things happened around the same time and my post might of got lost in the traffic). It would be great if they were 100% finished intime for the Instant TX. I think this would be more powerful than any of these b-rated writeups on obscure websites that nobody has heard off.

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy me too! yes i have the new latest wallet, and the message i wrote comes from that anfter the encryption

Do as I or innergy suggested, the warning should go away.  It's your wallet.dat file that needs to be updated replaced with a new one. Wink
1395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW and Darksend | Instant TX on: October 15, 2014, 12:59:52 PM
Sorry guys maybe is a stupid question but i downloaded the wallet 0.10.14.1 and put my darks in then i encrypted it, now everytime i start the wallet it says "warning there is incompatibility with RC4+ wallet due to larger keypool. it only effects encrypted wallets but can caouse a loss of data in rare situations. please create a new wallet and move the fund from this"

Huh Huh Huh what to do?

Rename your wallet.dat file to something else, fire up the new wallet again so it generates a new wallet.dat file, copy the new DRK address, close the wallet, rename the wallet.dat to something else, rename the first one back to wallet.dat, fire up the wallet again, send your balance to the new address, close the wallet, rename old wallet.dat again, rename the new one back to wallet.dat, fire up the wallet again, all is well.

Faster to do then to type!

edit: or do what innergy said, that will let you keep the existing address.

forexminute is there to sell ad space, like the rest of the cryptoblogs. Only a month ago 'Yashu Gola' and his 'deep ethical values' was accusing the DRK devs of all manner of scammery - complete drivel, lies, defamation and libel. The whole cryptognat scene is shiftless, clueless and worthless.

We need an insider at the FT.  Cheesy

we need someone to do a youtube guide.

I'll pay 50DRK from the bounty fund for a cold/hot remote setup video from scratch  Grin

Most of the volume Mintpal ever had was generated by their own bots. They sold up either because they had fucked up and realised they couldn't cover their short trades, or there simply wasn't enough profit left for them in it. Credit where it's due, they may have been crooked, but they weren't idiots.

Along comes an idiot: Alex@Moolah. Just as crooked, but not nearly as smart. Buys Mintpal for a hefty chunk, too stupid to see that all that volume was imaginary, and doesn't have the team to run it, at all as it turns out, never mind with the profits the previous crooks were raking in by shorting every dunce who left a balance on there, with their own money.

Hilarity ensues.  Grin

Silver lining - DRK is clearly the cryptocurrency of choice for criminals. Can't get a better recommendation than that.  Wink

I hope you're not advocating the criminals laundering their ill gotten gains through DRK?

If you are, I might have to stock up during the forthcoming fire sale.

I'm not advocating anything, but I think that's exactly what we're seeing. Let's face it, DRK is the right tool for the job. Buy it cheap while you can.
