1381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Markit manipulation in China or ... on: January 24, 2017, 04:33:58 PM
And we're still holding strong, how's that grab you?  China has a lot of influence on bitcoin (I think), but this is a global thing.  There's only so far that goes.

I still wonder what the real numbers are as far as how many users/buyers there are geographically.  That info doesn't seem to be very available.

That info is available and always has been.

http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/

Look under the column labeled "Volume". Here's a hint, the two at the top with all the volume, BTC China and OKCoin, are in China.

Here's an image of the current Bitcoin globe.

1382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does a President Trump mean for Bitcoin? on: January 24, 2017, 01:05:44 AM
Trump said he would bring dollars and industries back to USA.

If he does so, the chinese will be affected and the yuan will fall, and most other currencies will fall too.

Then people will go Bitcoin to protect their wealth, and BTC price will rise

There already is a correlaction between the devaluation of the chinese money

Yes. Americans will still trust in the dollar, and with the Fed raising interest rates, will be happy to keep their savings in dollars. But people in other countries, especially autocracies like China, will be looking to get their money out, especially as they devalue.

Lol, like they have a choice xD
Let's get real, btc isn't gonna replace dollars...
Not now, not tomorrow. It just won't.

Also consider that if Trump continues to apply his lips to the ass of Putin. Does things like reverse the Obama sanctions, this could make BTC an attractive heade for Eastern Europe. Personally I think that Trump/Puting with make a new Glasnost  and our new Exxon CEO Sec of State and complete the 500 billion artic. deal. Putin, Exxon and probably Trump get much richer. Cooperation on Isis is a likely scenario. Or something involving Crimea or UKraine. These are just my opinions and I might be completely wrong. The Russian economy needs a injection of cash. Stock options and capital appreciation  could make a few more billionaires Trump bad for the US and the world and mgiht be a boon for BTC.

Who thinks that Trump cant wait to use the military somewhere in the world.

If I had to choose between Trump or Clinton for who would use the military first, I would choose Clinton. Trump would only start a military action if it was good for his business.
1383  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you had a time machine, what would you say to satoshi? on: January 23, 2017, 08:22:23 PM
Give me the private keys to your million premined bitcoins or I'll shoot you in the face.
I'm afraid this might actually have happened. Without the time machine of course. This is satoshi's last post on Bitcointalk. Does this look like someone who voluntarily decided to stop posting? Or does this look like someone who had something bad happen to him?

Hum, interesting find. No, it certainly doesn't look like someone that decided to stop posting voluntarily. It looks like someone that will return shortly with updates to the discussed problem. My joke above may be more fact than fiction. But why eliminate Satoshi? No one had any expection that bitcoin would become more than another cypherpunk toy at that point. I think it's more likely he got in a car accident or some other fatal accident and never came back. It is curious that he gave his alert keys to Andresen just before he left though. Maybe Andresen killed him and took his coin stash? jk
1384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Markit manipulation in China or ... on: January 23, 2017, 04:49:53 PM

The Chinese are not bothered with all these Western opinions on anti-competitive regulations and so forth..

Yeah, but western people are concerned about it, hence this thread. China is holding back bitcoin adoption because the more people read about Chinese domination of bitcoin, Chinese market manipulation, Chinese government interference etc etc, the less likely they are to adopt it.

It is only worth getting into cryptocurrency if it is genuinely decentralised.

If it is going to be centralised, then you are better off with a centralised currency controlled by your OWN govt, whom you can vote out, rather than a centralised currency controlled by an opaque authoritarian govt on the other side of the world over which you have no control at all.

You can forget that argument dude. It doesn't work here. The people on this forum don't see that it's better to have currency controlled by a freely elected government. They would much prefer some psycho with a personal agenda (like Mark Karpeles) control their financial future.
1385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Markit manipulation in China or ... on: January 23, 2017, 04:35:50 PM
There's no such thing as "markit" manipulation. If you don't believe me I'll have my bots chop your fucking head off.

There is no creation without a mastermind or someone with the bigger picture
What about the big bang theory?

If the Bible is a book of facts, then let us look at these "facts".

As your bible states:
"God creates Adam and Eve"
Adam and Eve have Children
These children grow into adults and have their own children.

As you need both male and female to produce children.... Adam and Eve's family commit incest.

I always thought that their children were Cain and Abel. How did they reproduce?

Adam and Eve had many children. Eve probably lived 400 to 600 years or more. Adam lived well over 900 years. At one child a year, that was 400 or 500 for Eve. If Adam took other wives, that may have been many more.

When you consider that these children might have started having children at age 20 - they were almost as healthy as Adam and Eve - look at how fast the world could fill up in just a couple hundred years.

Cool

So Adam may have had many wives.... if Adam and Eve were the original 2... then they had to have had children which Adam could then take for wives....

So you admit the story of Adam and Eve is about incest.

Thanks BADecker for admitting religion and the bible is corrupt.

LOL! You are so funny.

Where did Eve come from? She was made from a rib that was taken from Adam's body. Incest is nothing. You simply avoid looking at perfection and near perfection because you are so corrupt.

Incest didn't become wrong until after the Great Flood of Noah's day. The reason for making it "illegal" was the failure, the devolution, of the human race into something that barely approximated the perfection of pre-flood times.

But you, all you want to do is continue into deeper depravity. That's why you try to continually make God and the Bible out to be bad. Well, go ahead. Become more depraved. It will bring about your demise, and nobody will miss you.

Cool

I think I'll pass on introducing you to my daughters. I'd kind of like them to have pubic hair before they become pregnant.

I bet when you introduce people to your wife and sister there's only one girl standing there, right?
1387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in the year 2100 on: January 23, 2017, 06:52:52 AM
the year 2100 is still very long, I think 83 years more difficult in the prediction, we all know the technology is evolving very rapidly, what we are experiencing now is not occurred to 90 years ago, but my estimate, the year 2100 bitcoin the earth will be destroyed.

It's not just incest. Religious leaders agree that Mary was between 11-14 years old when she gave birth to the carpenter extraordinaire (Jesus) so pedophilia is a Christian tradition. I wonder if she had her pubes when she gave birth. At least the midwife didn't have to shave her first.

With a history like that it's no wonder so many Christians are perverts.

Maybe they all just kept fucking Eve until she had a girl baby. LOL

Don't try to make sense of the Bible. It's not a particularly well written book.

You should all leave him alone. Greg Maxwell just wants to get the band back together again.

On IRC, I've witnessed him posting the most unusual response to a question about IBD using chainwork instead of height and not using the header timestamp. He just seemed to start singing, "Give me a head with hair, long beautiful hair Shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen. Give me down to there, hair, shoulder length or longer. Here baby, there, momma, everywhere, daddy, daddy, hair".

No one really understood what he was talking about.

1393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does a President Trump mean for Bitcoin? on: January 20, 2017, 11:01:21 PM
For all those who hoped that Trump would say something (positive) to bitcoin until the inauguration today, must be disappointed now. He didn't.
I am no longer very positive about Trump and Bitcoin.

ROFL

Yes, he should have included it in his inaugural swearing in ceremony, "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States of Bitcoin, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend Bitcoin and the Constitution of the United States.

The Bible is the best information we have. It is records, faithfully copied and handed down over thousands of years. The faithfulness of the Bible is shown by the Dead Sea Scrolls. The people who wrote the Bible did it because something miraculous was happening to them and in their lives. The Bible is the best record of the past that we have.

Neal Adams talks about and has made videos about the Pangea of the earth, and that the earth was divide over millions of years, into the continents that exist now. However, he doesn't have any factual basis for the time that he says it took. From Genesis 10:25
Quote
Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.

Cool

Science is the best information we have, not something some people wrote in Constantinipole if the 4th century AD.

It's funny that people want to trust things written in a book by poorly educated superstitious tribal people thousands of years ago but they don't trust things in a book written by well educated people that are still alive and can be questioned.
It's funny only at first glance. Really not very funny that in today's world so many crazy people. I think that most people who say that believe in God just follow the fashion for faith in God.

You might enjoy the comparison of intelligence to Christianity in countries.

The intelligence scores came from work carried out earlier this decade by Richard Lynn, a British psychologist, and Tatu Vanhanen, a Finnish political scientist, who analysed IQ studies from 113 countries, and from subsequent work by Jelte Wicherts, a Dutch psychologist.

Countries are ranked highest to lowest national IQ score.

1397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have we reached peak tribalism? on: January 20, 2017, 04:46:54 PM
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. As far as fixing the problem? How does one fix human nature? Calculating the biological component of Bitcoin was Satoshi's biggest failure.
Ahm curious as ta what you meant by that second sentence there 'bout the biological component.

OP, ya dam rite 'bout the tribalism, but itsa like dat evverwhere, even in tha workplace an'even in tha smallest of tribes. Ain't goin' away anytime soon less'n we collectively crawl our tribal asses back inta tha sea, evilootionarilly speakin'.  An' even then we'll still jist be killin' each otha inna water.

The human element. People are unpredictable.

On the contrary, People are predictable. When Bitcoin started out, the creator was anonymous and then he/she/they abandoned the project, when Gavin was approached by the government. Gavin came to the forefront and received a little bit of power and this went to his head.

The project became to big for him, and he left the scene. He underestimated his support and wanted to come back, but he was not welcomed with open arms. He then started a competing fork, to take back the power. < hostile takeover > but this failed.

So, what is not predictable? Money / power / greed / jealousy / anger / fear are all human factors in this whole experiment. Can we blame these guys? I guess not. Do we accept them back with open arms? Yes, I think we should accept any contribution that would be deemed positive for Bitcoin development.

Will the people making that decision, allow for them to get a foot in the door? No, I doubt it.

Surprise, we are all human after all. ^smile^ B.t.w OP, good topic.

Well then Satoshi definitely failed because bitcoin requires trust. Sending non-reversible money to a business without the ability to pull the money back from a fraudulent business requires trust.  Money / power / greed / jealousy / anger / fear =/= trust
1398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is BTC being developed? on: January 19, 2017, 09:52:16 PM
The ideas posted here are all what people say are blockstream's ideals. Some people like to think they are misled.

You could argue that Bitcoin's system of decentralisation does not have to extend to the development, just the network. So if blockstream comes out with an update, it's solely the network's choice to move over to them.

With regarding the other hard forks - If Bitcoin core was a hard fork, would you have chosen them over the diverse selection of supposedly better (depends on your view) forks.

When blockstream becomes a non-profit and gives back the almost $100 million dollars of VC money I'll take back what I said about them.  Other than performing the above, their ideals are pretty self evident.

1399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is BTC being developed? on: January 19, 2017, 09:13:48 PM
How is BTC being developed?

Poorly and slowly.

So, what's in your opinion in case to make the developing progress be better and faster instead of poorly and slowly?
I understand that bitcoin development require many agreement from devs teams, miners and users that called consensus just like mentioned above. We can't say it will easy due to we don't have any leader and decentralized system if bitcoin, that what makes it interesting. You may share your thoughts to inform us.

Most of the key devs that were devoting their lives to it have moved on to other projects, Chinese miners are controlling development (like block size), getting consensus has proven to be all but impossible, devs are not paid so their motivation is lacking which has led them to work on other projects like lightening, blockstream, etc. It's really a multitude of problems with the system that even other open source projects don't have and I think it's because money is directly involved. People work on Linux distros out of love and care about the project. People work on Bitcoin for cold hard cash and they've proven that time and time again.
i agree with you sir. due to lack of motivation like payment for there hardwork, they try to go other project. whether or not they love what they are doing as long as it compensate them enough.. if only they are being paid right, enough and satisfying, then it will motivate them to do more innovations and developments that would really help the bitcoin community in the near future.

It's not like I'm ungrateful for their work. I understand the need to eat. I just don't think the devs working on Bitcoin see beyond their ability to use Bitcoin for wealth and peer recognition. Bitcoin just doesn't seem to attract the same kind of personalities that Linux does.

Have I missed something? I thought some of these developers were working for MIT & Blockstream to specifically work on Bitcoin? I thought they worked on Bitcoin full-time? How would investors feel, if they are moving onto other projects and not concentrating on Bitcoin? Interesting, I would like to know, what the motivations were for people to invest in Blockstream, if it was not for development of Bitcoin related projects. ^hmmmmm^

Source :> http://www.wsj.com/articles/bitcoin-startup-blockstream-raises-55-million-in-funding-round-1454518655

Bitcoin was developed by Satoshi to allow payments to be sent from one party to another without the need for a trusted third party. It wasn't designed to make developers or third parties rich. Side chains, lightening network, smart contracts, Casascius coins, or any of the other third party crap isn't Bitcoin. Many key devs have jumped ship to work on things that Bitcoin doesn't need only to line their own pockets.

I wonder if someday porn and other illegal things

Sorry, in Your Jurisdiction adult sites are illegal?

There are many jurisdictions where pornography is illegal. You better know where your customers are from or you may find yourself extradited for a felony.

United Kingdom
Adult pornography that falls under the Government's classification of "extreme pornography" is illegal to possess as of January 26, 2009, carrying a three-year prison sentence.

Indonesia
The legal situation in Indonesia tightened sharply in 2008 with the passing of the Bill against Pornography and Pornoaction. Law books of Indonesia KUHP (Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Pidana) article number 282 says that "it is forbidden to spread pornographic content".

Hong Kong
Pursuant to the Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles Ordinance (Cap 390), it is an offence to publish an obscene article. Publication covers distribution, circulation, selling, hiring, giving, or lending the obscene article. Distribution by email would fall within the definition of distribution, as would the placing of an obscene article on a web site. It should also be noted that distribution does not require any element of financial gain to be present. The penalty for this offence is up to three years imprisonment and a fine of up to HK$1,000,000.

Gaza Strip
Hamas authorities of the Gaza Strip began blocking Internet porn sites in late May 2008.

Philippines
Since January 14, 2017, several porn sites including Pornhub and XVideos has been blocked in the Philippines by President Rodrigo Duterte as part of the Republic Act 9775.

Russia
In early 2015, the Roskomnadzor has blocked over 100 porn sites, making it illegal to view in Russia. Two more websites PornHub and YouPorn were blocked in Russia in September 2016.

There are many more but you get the picture.
