13821  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-08-16] CD - Dark Web Markets 'Processed more Bitcoin than BitPay in 2014' on: August 17, 2015, 06:08:08 AM
I think many of these people on the Dark markets, have no clue on the anonymity of Bitcoin. They use it in the wrong way and expose themselves in the process. < In my opinion it's a good thing> Let them think they are and
then catch them with the tool, they have thought, would give them protection.

Bitcoin could be a great tool in the arsenal of the government, If they know how to use it to their benefit.
13822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - why do you think people are choosing to use cyptocurrencies? on: August 17, 2015, 06:00:47 AM
Done, I think most of the questions was easy to answer. I have to say after the whole Snowden thing, I have started
to look into ways too make my life a bit more private. Foreign governments should not spy on citizens from other countries for no good reason, and it's becoming general practice now.

Bitcoin afforded me some sort of anonymity and I took it on as a experiment to see, if it was bs or real. So far it's been a great ride and I enjoyed it. ^hmf^
13823  Other / Meta / Re: Worked our ASSES off to promote Bitcoin 16 hours/ day for 2 years. Today, banned on: August 17, 2015, 05:49:40 AM
Oh Please, do not be a drama queen. State your case here, and we can discuss it. Why were you banned from the
r\Bitcoin  Huh
I have been banned from several sub-reddits before for promoting Bitcoin and I am still around doing my thing.
It's one thing promoting a concept, but there are general rules and if you do not adhere to it, you will get banned.

The Bitcoin XT people are flooding r\Bitcoin with their propaganda now and it's getting annoying now, so the mods most probably banned people who brigade the sub with Bitcoin XT stuff to make a point.

Speak your mind, but do not force yourself and your opinion onto other people. They will decide on their own, which client they want to run.

13824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When is Second Life starting to use Bitcoin? on: August 14, 2015, 05:43:24 AM
I tried Second Life, but my internet connection at the time was very bad, so it was not a good experience. They have a very healthy virtual economy going there, and it's currency <Linden> is very well established, so I doubt if they would be willing to switch to something new.

It would be less of a inconvenience if they do, because no conversion is needed when the use BTC to buy products in the real world. ^hmf^
13825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Windows 10 and Bitcoin Discussion on: August 14, 2015, 05:35:00 AM
You can always multi-boot with another version of Windows or boot up with Tails when you want to use your Bitcoin stuff. This is not a big issue, so just carry on and use Windows 10 for all other non Bitcoin related stuff.
I sometimes wonder how many of the existing versions of Windows has the same backdoors that we just do not know about.

We are all suckers to these proprietary software companies.  Huh
13826  Other / Meta / Re: Mike Hearn talking about theymos and BitcoinTalk forum policy on: August 13, 2015, 06:04:36 AM
This Bitcoin Core / XT thing is getting old now. Let's allow freedom of speech and battle out the definitions of a Alt coin, in the Alt coin section. This debate is not constructive and it's dividing the Bitcoin community. In some way this is not about Bitcoin, but who can get the biggest support and the most power.

We cannot allow a few individuals to come in and destroy everything that has been built up over more than 6 years. Bitcoin Core has been the original fork from the start, and we should acknowledge that status as a tribute to it's inventor or inventors.

Dumb ass bitcoin core is just a client to enforce rules on a network. It has been updated with new rules many times.

So technically bitcoin has been forked many times in the past. Dont be dumbass and confused with the terminology. Network will have to be updated to grow. If an altcoin has features that bitcoin can benifict from, it will be coded in and ppl can choose to accept it or not.

Calling people Dumbass or Fool will not help your cause. Let's keep this discussion civil and not get bogged down in terminology differences. The client as you stated enforce a protocol change and this cause a fork. The new hard fork could ultimately destroy the original fork and the intended route Satoshi wanted to follow, with his original code.

I am open to constructive discussion, but name calling is childish behavior and I do not waste my time with that. Let's keep this constructive and positive please and respect each other opinion on the matter.
13827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you didn't get paid for your signature, would you still care about Bitcoin? on: August 13, 2015, 05:41:44 AM
Ok, Signature Campaigners, this one is for you - how much is the fact that you can get paid in bitcoin for posting on this forum the biggest factor that keeps you involved in bitcoin?

"Free" money, right? (almost...we do give up our time.) I can earn some bitcoin without having to risk my own money, right? What have I got to lose?

How many of you have thought these sentiments and can honestly admit that if this opportunity for earning didn't exist you would not care about bitcoin?

Remember, the poll is anonymous...

well even if there is no signature campaign i still care about bitcoin, there are other ways or opportunities to earn bitcoins here aside from the signature campaign.

You're the second post in this thread, you don't need to quote me (the OP) in your response. It's implied.

I think may have asked the wrong question. Perhaps a better question would be how many of you would care about BitcoinTalk Forum without paid signatures?

Thanks for the honest replies already!

Yes, I agree. The Poll results may confuse some people. The majority of the posts seem to indicate that people care about Bitcoin and they care about the signature campaign too. If you asked the question in regards to the forum, you might have had a whole different result in the poll.

People enjoy money and they enjoy Bitcoin, but they do not necessarily worry about what platform provides this service. It just has to be fast and clean and available.

13829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Attempted Massacre using Bitcoins - Columbine Style on: August 13, 2015, 05:09:13 AM
" Lyburd, 19, is accused of spending months building up his haul, which also included dozens of expanding ‘dum dum’ bullets, CS gas and a collection of knives. "
and
" He is said to have used the digital currency Bitcoin to buy a 9mm Luger Calibre Glock gun on the ‘dark web’ "

So he bought other weapons with fiat or cards and a 9mm with Bitcoin? They just have to single out Bitcoin. ^wtf^
If people buy food with Bitcoin and it creates a fart, will Bitcoin be blamed for Air pollution too?
The media just have a way with words to make something out of nothing.

13830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's nonsense to compare bitcoin's tps with Visa/Mastercard/Paypal on: August 13, 2015, 04:58:52 AM
We do not even take into consideration, that many off-chain transactions happen on Xapo and other services like AsMoney. If you take all of these transactions on the exchanges and on services like Xapo together, you would have
a faster tps than VISA/Mastercard/Paypal.

The protocol is to Bitcoin as TCP/IP is to the internet. Loads of services can run on top of the Blockchain or on their own, so tps should not be a issue.  Roll Eyes
13831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you didn't get paid for your signature, would you still care about Bitcoin? on: August 12, 2015, 12:34:20 PM
I get between $3 to $4 USD per week from signature campaigns, hardly something to write home about. It's just enough to pay for a Happy Meal at McDonald's for my kids once a week. I talk about Bitcoin and Crypto currencies, because I am hooked to the technology, and the signature campaign earnings is a extra bonus.

We <Bitcoiners> sound like freaks and nerds, and I can talk freely here about something I am seriously hooked on like a drug. I think my kids will suffer more, if they take the signature campaigns away. ^joke^

Signature campaigns help to fund beginner Bitcoiner's and also help them to learn more and keep them committed to
the cause. If this forum takes this away from them, they will move to other forums where it's allowed. If they are only here for the money, they will waste their time and they will eventually spam and get modded and banned.  Tongue
13832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who thinks Gavin Anderson knows who Satoshi is? on: August 12, 2015, 06:05:29 AM
Gavin should have an idea, but he is not saying anything. You cannot tell me Satoshi would hand over his creation with the Alert keys, to someone he did not have a close relationship with. It's possibly the biggest technology since the internet and you just hand over the key to the guards at the gate?

Gavin and some other people know who he or she is, but they protect him or her. Secrets only stay secrets for so long, and then someone spill the beans.
13833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's create the first coin for immigrants on: August 12, 2015, 05:53:54 AM
Let's pre-mine the coin, to make a huge profit when it's all hyped up, whilst we at it. ^joking^
Why do we need to exploit these poor immigrants, they have been floating and suffering between countries and now you want to label them, by grouping their currency?

How will this coin help them? Do not tell me that it would make remittance easier, because Bitcoin already fill that function for them. If you want to create something for immigrants, you have to make it attractive for them to use it over Bitcoin and other currencies.
13834  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-08-11]247exchange.com - New Fast Process for Buying BTC with Credit Card on: August 12, 2015, 05:44:46 AM
Was the idea not to get away from Credit cards? I would never use my credit card again over the internet, if BTC was accepted everywhere. Trusting any website with your credit card details is very risky, even if you use a site like
this to buy Bitcoin.

What is the idea anyway of buying Bitcoins on credit? You have to pay for that credit anyway. It's only a question of time before credit card companies pick up on this, and start to block these sites to sabotage Bitcoin.  Roll Eyes
13835  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Would running a faucet be profitable today? on: August 12, 2015, 05:25:32 AM
If you want to be successful with this, start out with some of your own money to bump the payouts. You will have to come in with a above average payout, to gain a big user base. Once a established user base has grown, you can
get better advertisement income to substitute or replace your funding.

So at the start, you will be losing money, but as your faucet grow bigger, you will start to break even, and then start to make up the loss, and only then show a profit. The faucet scene is a science of maths.  Wink
13836  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-08-09] Ex-Goldman Director points out bitcoin opportunities ∙ IHB News™ on: August 11, 2015, 10:54:00 AM
The secret to the success in this area is that of the world’s $500 Billion international remittance market, $250 Billion is in Asia. That is a huge plus point for growth, and the fact that only 4% of Cambodia’s population is banked, 21% of Vietnam and 27% Lao and Philippines.

The serious investor would most certainly tap this market, and take on the giants like Western Union and MoneyGram. Who would think, Bitcoin could make such a big difference in that area of the world.
13837  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you think is the world’s bitcoin center? on: August 11, 2015, 09:29:25 AM
I think maybe in Japan, because the Japanese people who make bitcoin  Cheesy

This is news to me, I thought the Bitcoin protocol generates the coins. ^joke^
We do not need a single "World Bitcoin Center" This concept already failed with the Bitcoin foundation.
Let's just accept Bitcoin as a global technology without a central figure head. We all know these entities are
prone to corruption and targeted for attacks. Let the technology dictate it's own flow in the world. Free as a bird.
13838  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What will happen if we create another bitcoin? on: August 11, 2015, 09:17:56 AM
"There can only be one!" quote from Highlander ;-> Now that reveals my age, or not.
People are already trying it with Bitcoin XT and all the other Alt Coins based on the Blockchain out there. It's not a new idea.
Even the big financial institutions are getting in on the action, with the development and investment of millions of dollars into their own
copy of the blockchain technology.

Bitcoin had lots of little babies, called Alt coins. One day they will grow big and they will take over from Big Daddy.
13839  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for teenage web developer for a Bitcoin Lottery. on: August 11, 2015, 09:06:55 AM
Why only teenagers? I have worked well with a mix between old and young people on different projects before.
You are entering a tough market, with a history of scammers and cheaters. I hope your concept will have full
transparency, not like the many failed attempts we had before.

Good luck with the project, and keep it within the rules of the game. <regulation>
13840  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-08-07] Japanese court rules bitcoin not worthy of legal protections on: August 07, 2015, 01:33:14 PM
Wtf are they smoking there on that island. The fact that you cannot touch something takes nothing away from the fact that it can be valuable! This is a significant ruling in favor of Mark Karpeles and all the other people who are scamming people out of Crypto currencies.

We will see a flood of scammers flocking to Japan to operate their business from there, because they have legal protection when they run with your Bitcoin. Once again Mark is showing us the finger. ^Hmmmm^
