I thought they both did a good job and were able to articulate their positions well. I think the way forward lands somewhere in the middle and the solution needs to consider miners, users, and developers.
There were 2 things that shocked me about the chat... Roger saying that not spending BTC gives it it's value, and Johnny saying that he only uses Bitcoin once a month.

Has anyone set up their own external GPU rig? I've been looking into DIYing it but don't have any experience with builds. I'm still hoping to get a decent GPU to create some vanity addresses.
im sure its exactly the same as setting up a gpu mining rig.. but i dunno why you would want to spend money setting up a rig to create vanity addresses. ?? I have 2 vanity rigs going 24/7 and they have been for the last 3 years. Although I do it mainly to generate sequential vanity addresses for my Minted Seat coins.

Bitcoin cannot be ideal money. Economists know this because money stable in value needs to be able to expand and contract with its underlying economy.
1) Why do you believe the goal of Bitcoin is to become ideal money? 2) Do you know people who got involved in Bitcoin because it was going to be stable in value?

@OgNasty How many of the photos from the book do you plan to make into bitpics?
There are 54 photos total from the book. I plan to produce each one in the form of a bitpic. They will be made available for purchase through bitpic.org utilizing a custom branded NastyShop in the coming weeks. Until then, I may continue to auction them one at a time here, so long as there is sufficient demand. The retail price is looking likely to be set in the neighborhood of $85 + 0.03 BTC + shipping, varying based on the size of the bitpic.

The bitcoin can be regulated, but not outlawed.
I think you have that backwards.

How about the option that is gets approved and the approval causes a selloff due to the well known Wall Street adage, "buy the rumor, sell the news."

I do recommend that people keep their precious metal coins in their airtites while using these frames, as they are not air tight and can cause silver to tarnish.

Good reply! Just wanted to raise the concern ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) No worries. Someone had to ask. Another reason I brainstormed the idea for this project was because I wanted folks to have an opportunity to see some of the amazing photography in the Mining Pools book, without having to first purchase it.

What would happen if I made an exact copy using the picture from the mining book? Is there anything protecting this property being exclusive?
I'd love to see what sort of quality you could produce by taking pictures from the book, and what image you'd use for a border... Obviously that would be an awful quality forgery. Not to mention you wouldn't be able to get your hands on an untampered hologram or my signature and the costs involved in engraving something like this are fairly prohibitive (my engraving machine alone retails for over $5,000 and 3rd party engraving services cost more than you'd be able to sell the product for, not to mention the security concerns associated there). However, I do have a paid licensing agreement with photonresearch, and he is a professional photographer that would likely file a lawsuit against you if you were able to reproduce the images with any sort of quality, which I suspect you couldn't.

The first planned series will feature 54 photos from the Bitcoin Mining Pools book which is available for purchase in the NastyShop. Each bitpic will be exclusive, meaning the picture will not be reused on another bitpic. Features:- Professional photograph printed on aluminum sheet
- Engraved public/private sequentially numbered vanity keys secured with tamper evident hologram
- 0.01 BTC loaded onto public address
- QR code linking to the bitpic's profile page
- Dedicated website and bitpic analyzer - bitpic.org
- Autographed and numbered in gold pen by OgNasty

Nope. That user actually complained to me about the size of his last payout. I let him know that I do not pay for multiple posts in the same hour, and hope that will reduce the behavior.

How much to buy one and be sent no hosting?
I'm also curious about this.
