141  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Whats the point of 'dust' payments? Does anyone really need to send microcents? on: June 15, 2013, 04:33:24 PM
SBeing able to send arbitrarily small amounts have tons of uses here are some I could think of right off the bat.
Voting schemes, ironically: anti spam measures for account creation, verifiable data where certain amounts have meaning between two or more people. The blockchain has many uses other than a currency ledger.
Instead of banning dust, a way to have "litenodes" that only have unspent outputs instead of the full history, and then measures to compound dust.

Edit: when you say, fractions of a cent, keep in mind you're referring to an exchange rate which is over 50x the value it was at two years ago.

I agree with you, but what if people used other altcurrencies as these dust transactions and satisfy quite a few sides.
142  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: new obvious scam http://merlinsmagicbitcoins.com/ on: June 15, 2013, 04:01:37 PM
It is as much of a scam as those grenade/hot potato games. If people want to risk their earned bitcoins in hope of someone else coming along after you and doing the same, then let them. Most people are smart and don't start doing this sort of thing though. Go ahead and join if you want to join a ponzi scheme.

http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx to report if you are being extorted and in the US. Go to FBI.gov and you can find that page yourself if you prefer to do that.

Wow, this pizza guy can't do math at all..
If you loose money gambling, it isn't anyone's fault but your own, don't blame it on the owner of the site because he makes some profit.
Props to the creator of the site for refunding people for late payments.

152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New US-based ASIC Bitcoin Mining Hardware Manufacturer - ASIC Technologies on: June 12, 2013, 01:43:33 AM
Right now, signs point to scam, show some actual credentials and proof that you are working on these miners as well as actual contact information and I as well as others might consider pre-ordering. If you are a legit group, you need to give people enough information that they can get their money back if you fail to deliver or bail.
153  Economy / Gambling / Re: Offical Launch of PhenixPoker.com on: June 11, 2013, 04:50:28 AM
Having issues logging into the site, you really need some instructions on how to login for the first time, it seems a bit complicated. Giving me some sort of error on login after figuring out that I had to enter a password on the authenticator site.

Seems like a government would have no problem attacking a cryptocoin then.
155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How about a dedicated Beggers forum? on: June 10, 2013, 10:28:00 AM
Haha, I think there should be one so that all the beggars can move to there and the rest of the community can ignore them.

These faster and smaller chips will likely be even more expensive than ASIC's.

We do need a decentralized exchange on a network such as Tor eventually though.
