I've been buying lots of hardware, trying to get less then 20$ per gigahash. So far my average is 16.90$ per gigahash. Pretty good I'm expecting return by March or April. May, if companies actually ship on time xD

What plugs from the atx connection does the hub use?
Just the 5v and common (red and black) wires?
I got a 5v 40 amp supply, trying to figure out how i connect it.

If you dont feel like talking to anyone, why would someone help you?
Nothing wrong with PMs.
I also vote cubes, those are good starter units

Take your fiat.... Buy BTC... Buy miner immediatly.
Remember, BTC is more then just an investment. It's used to transfer money around the world, instantly!
Don't touch your savings BTC, buy fresh BTC just to buy a miner with.
If you don't want to do that, then buy new BTC and hold rather then buying a miner. Either way, if you have ~3200$ right now, you can either have 4.25 BTC or an Antminer. Doesn't matter if that 3200 makes the middle step of becoming BTC briefly, either way you're buying a miner instead of BTC.

I'm all in. I have like 200$ in fiat, few thousand in BTC. I took out a 2000$ credit card cash advance back in October. That was a good plan, it tripled for me before I cashed out Got myself a nice business now because of it

Well, step one is find some mining chips with low enough power requirements to be run by a USB port. YOu're going to get 2.5 watts out of a USB 2.0 port, you might get 4.5 watts out of a 3.0 USB port.
Get a voltage regulator, to make the power to the board constant.
Grab a few resistors and capacitors to smooth out and refine the voltage.
Get another chip to hold the software for the mining chip, as well as the software for the computer to recognize it.
Program that chip so that everything works.
Solder everything together, if you dont have surface mount componants then you're going to have a big board, at least a few inches square.
Get a USB plug, attach it, and plug it into your computer.
Voila! Homemade USB Miner.

You have some maths wrong in your paper. 11kw average consumption of a house , it's more like 33. And why compare it to paypal or google? Compare that to the electricity banks consume. In my parents hometown ~ 50k they have 21 banks , 2 of them are 3 floors high and over 1000mp2 . Let's compare how energy they waste and how much the bitcoin network does.
I'm trying to get more data, that was just a first draft. I think I can also better estimate the average watts:gigahash ratio, based on what companies have shipped what amount of power. I did the original comparisons to other computing giants, I really want data on how much power Visa consumes. Banks would be nice, but I imagine they'd be hard to find.... I want the data on how much power it takes to print, store, and transfer money. If anyone can help me out, PM me, and lets get this paper more factual!

I have 87 RedFurys coming from Oaxaca, they should be shipped on the 27th. I'm looking to keep a few, sell a few, so might as well get started! I can ship them around anywhere, but I'd prefer to deal locally. I have a partner in Toronto who is also getting lots of Redfurys to sell, so if you're from the East coast then I'll connect you with him. Quick rundown of specs, these miners are 2.5 gigahashes, and consume only 2.5 watts. Plug them into a USB port, and away you go! I'm not really selling these at a competitive, large scale mining operation price, these are just for beginner miners who want to get started with something quick and easy. Pricing: 1-4: 200$ 5-9: 190$ 10+: 180$ I don't want to sell in too large bulk, like I said, these are mostly for newbies who want a simple way into mining. PM me or email me at bryanhellard@gmail.com. I live in New Westminster, but I travel between New West, Burnaby, Coquitlam, and Downtown often, so I can meet anywhere.

I am the buyer.
I am looking to buy 20 BTC worth of goods.
I'm worried that the seller may send me bad miners.
Please help us with an escrow service.

I was tired of seeing people saying how earth destroying Bitcoin is, how it sucks up so much energy, so I wrote this piece up. It's not perfect, there are a few data metrics that I'd like to change (average watts:gigahash ratio of ASICs based on hashrate delivered), but I think it's a good summary and comparison to other computing giants (Google, Facebook, Ebay...) I'm also trying to find data on Visa or Mastercard power consumption. Power consumption of a bank would be great too. After going through the power consumption, I begin speculations on the future difficulty and power requirements to keep the network going. Check it out, comment, what should I change? https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Lb_iLMmH5sIiYfGeHr9tCTnaoWjK25zDlvO0nXXgEng/edit?usp=sharing

Bump! Let's get some hardware trading!

The average Joe now will become more important over a year or 2 if he keep using his brains. Everyone starts small in Bitcoin, but that doesn't mean you won't be able to become bigger.
^^^ This. So much of this.

What do you mean, make?
Like make your own ASICs?

Boo hoo. If mining was get rich quick, everyone would be in on it. Oh look, it was advertised as get rich quick, and now everyone's in on it. We shot ourselves in the foot. Even still, its not dead. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=361566.0

I'm looking to buy a large amount of mining power this month. Maybe as high as 10 terahashes, depending on the price. KNC's, COinterras, maybe some BFL's, I'm not picky. The price just has to be right. I need hardware ASAP (Everyone knows time is money ) so I'd prefer hardware that you have in hand. Though, I am quite interested in the Cointerra first batch, so I'll wait for that. I'll do local pickup for almost anything, I can fly to you if our deal is 20k+. PM me and we can talk pricing, I have plenty of cash to spare.
