141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook & Google creating its own Crpytocurrency! on: February 06, 2018, 08:14:47 PM
when a company, or similarly a country, a bank, a financial firm,.... creates a new coin based on bitcoin using the blockchain technology, they are always creating a centralized token and that is a creating huge difference. it may seem like nothing in words but in reality the difference between bitcoin being decentralized and global without any kind of restrictions regarding usage whatsoever and a centralized token that a company issues is a huge one.

they can try and make their own version and many of them are doing it, but in the end it will be just another altcoin in  a sea of altcoins.

Exactly. The simple fact that they would use a blockchain does not makes it truly decentralized. In the end, these giants creating cryptocurrencies is just a way for them to create money out of thin air, something which today only banks can do, and I can forecast that it will become very common.
142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Message to all people who panic when crypto price goes down! on: February 06, 2018, 08:02:20 PM
Of course it is painful to see one owns capital shrinking so much in no time. Two weeks ago I was rich, now I am moderately wealthy. However, I went through a similar ordeal in 2014 when my little investment lost 95% of its value, becoming nothing or so, but I didn't sell. This year, that "nothing" mooned and suddenly I was rich. I've missed the chance to sell everything ATH, pity. That's it. Now it's time to take a breath a make a long walk in town or an even longer walk in the world. And patient. Panic can only hurt you.
143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you did not listen before, now is last chance to reduce your loss on: February 06, 2018, 07:56:34 PM
It would have been a very good idea to sell at 20K, since it made no sense to imagine that the parabolic rise of the price could go on forever. It would have been a good idea to sell at 14K, once it was clear the price was heading down. (I've sold a bit here, alas not enough)
It would still have been a good idea to sell at 10K, given that the risk of a collapse was rising. (I've sold a bit here, alas not enough)
Now, as BTC has tanked to 6000K in no time, losing over 70% from ATH, it's not any more a good idea to sell, ESPECIALLY if you have bought at 20K. Once you've lost 70% of your money or more it is not any more the time to "reduce loss", since the big damage is done. Better to bet on the possibility of the price to rise again. In the past it always did. It is quite likely that at some point it would do that again.
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be too big to fail? on: February 06, 2018, 05:18:31 PM
After the past few days of BTC dumping fest and the storming news about whatever institutions's crack down plans against Bitcoin, I'd be tempted to say that in fact Bitcoin is too big to NOT fail - since big powers are currently busy trying to destroy it. Let's watch the show and hope for the best...
145  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is bitcoin dangerous ? on: February 06, 2018, 05:14:56 PM
I guess that after 63 pages of thread perhaps in these past few days some of the very optimistic people will start to suspect that in fact, after all, Bitcoin may actually perhaps be a quite dangerous investment...
146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Congratulation all we touched the bottom on: February 06, 2018, 05:12:22 PM
the bottom was 0.0001 usd in 2009

Right. Cheesy
As for the OP, many thanks for sharing his illusions with us. Hoping that he's right won't change the fact that he probably isn't.
147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My advice to Bitcoin newbies: relax on: February 06, 2018, 04:23:36 PM
I guess newbies have been baptized with fire with this BTC megadump. Those who will survive this ordeal being able not to sell at a loss from now on they will know what dealing with Bitcoin sooner or later implies: the pain and the anxiety to see your money disappear overnight and for a while. Until today, the disappeared money has then later always come back, with interests.
148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin tips: Bullish and Bearish Flags on: February 06, 2018, 04:18:21 PM
So, is there still no way for us to predict the top and bottom of the trend?
No one can predict the price of bitcoin for no one controls it, also its value depend on the supply and demand. We can just have a wild guess whether it will go up or down.

You may want to give a look to the technical analysis of a lot of traders, which you can find on this website:

https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/BTCUSD/

The all differ in their conclusions, proving that it is impossible to make predictions which surely will become true, but some of the analysts seem to get it right more often than others.
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin holder's dilemma on: February 06, 2018, 04:15:54 PM
I think every bitcoin holder’s dilemma is if bitcoin will be gone in a blink. Each and every one of us will surely be terrify if bitcoin will be gone in a blink. All our efforts, hard work, sleepless nights, and precious time will fly away in the wind. All our money that we invest in bitcoin will also be gone like a thief just stole it. Imagine that you have all your money and investment in your house then it burn out by fire. Well this is our dilemma but we are hoping that this will be just dilemma and it will not happen to us.

I have been doing a lot of thinking on these same themes lately. The problem is that this risk applies to almost any class of assets - they can just disappear overnight. Hyperinflation may make your FIAT worthless, your bank may do bankrupt and make your money disappear, thieves can steal your gold or your country could make a law to seize it and as you said your house may burn down.
Now we are witnessing our crypto-portfolios evaporating very fast. Hopefully the trend will reverse.
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Oh crap! What happened to bitcoins? on: February 06, 2018, 04:12:04 PM
We always assume that the price drop is normal. What if this drop will continue until zero. We all know that anything can happen to bitcoin.
Yes we all know that anything can happen to bitcoin. But i don't think it will drop to zero. Bitcoin will remain in the circulation for a long time. That's for sure.

Nothing is sure in this world, and nothing is immortal, so even Bitcoin one day will probably disappear. But for the moment we are still in the realm of the normal behavior of Bitcoin - after a sharp rise it has always heavily dropped to shake off weak hands.
151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Friendly countries on: February 06, 2018, 04:09:29 PM
I think I am lucky enough that the country I am into goes along with Bitcoin. I am from Philippines and so far this country is willingly accepting bitcoin. Although there were not sp good opinions about it, the country/citizens continuously use it especially those who actually know the worth. There is also available ATM machines which allows your to withdraw from your Bitcoin account.

Japan is one of the most friendly countries for bitcoin and other digital currencies. Japan's bitcoin trading volume has surpassed that of the United States, second only to China and now ranks second in the world. The success of MITSUBISHI will bring a new inspiration to most banks, especially those with a broad international network.

Let's hope then that Japanese investors step it to buy Bitcoins and stop this selloff. But I guess that most of the Western media FUD is finalized to bring down the price so that Western bankers can buy cheap coins.
152  Economy / Exchanges / Re: About Bitfinex - Tether FRAUD on: February 06, 2018, 04:07:19 PM
Bloomberg says that both Bitfinex and Tether have been Supoenaed by the American regulators:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-01-30/crypto-exchange-bitfinex-tether-said-to-get-subpoenaed-by-cftc

It happened on Dec 6th, but has only just been leaked to the press.

This does not look good at all. It could very much be related to the big drop in the price that we are witnessing right now.
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - lowest fee - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: February 06, 2018, 04:05:34 PM
Bit of a thninking here:

Many people ask for bigger exchange. And do I agree, but I as well agree on right timing, thus no rush from my perspective. It's in roadmap and I believe it won't be only one (in future, not only Q1).

However I think that as well why BTX is holding it's value is that actually right now is not listed on any bigger exchange otherwise to some extend we would see bigger sell out of "investors".

I would rather like to see primarily BTX as "real world" usable coin and after that, secondarily as an investment.

Your inputs/ideas/options are welcomed, this is not a flame.

I agree on this. Current holders of BTX seem to differ very much from current holders of "big coins". The latter probably have often zero interest for the coins they buy except for the ROI they get. I don't want to say that BTX investors are not here for a ROI, but probably they are investing less in absolute terms and they can afford to hold for the long term.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - lowest fee - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: February 05, 2018, 01:00:27 PM
Did the airdrop already happen today or is it still in the process? I see from comments that some people have already got it but since I didn't I am feeling compelled to ask.

EDIT: Just received a lot of BTX now - you can feel the addtional 1% Smiley
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DGX token allegedly backed with physical gold rocking while the rest is falling on: February 05, 2018, 12:22:50 PM
If I'd be sure that DGX tokens would be really backed by physical gold (which I am not - I am actually rather sure of the contrary) I could give it a thought. But in fact, if you like gold you'd better buy the real one, the one that you can touch, and not a non-existent paper gold or a dubious crypto-gold.
As for me I own both cryptos AND physical gold. You never know which turns will take reality in the future...
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why aren't there more women in Bitcoin? on: February 05, 2018, 12:18:06 PM
(..)  In which part of the world do you live by the way Julia? If Julia is your real name of course, and not perhaps Igor or Johnny Cheesy

Just laugh at them  Smiley Aren't they hilarious? The most effective thing to make a man feel uncomfortable is to laugh at him, especially when he's not fully dressed haha

Julia is a real woman. There cannot be doubts about it. No man in disguise pretending to be a women would have ever even be able to think about publishing a line like this. Smiley Cheers Julia Wink
157  Economy / Exchanges / Re: About Bitfinex - Tether FRAUD on: January 30, 2018, 09:41:21 PM
The fact that the New York Times is reporting such a thing is scaring, because if there is anything not perfectly OK at all at Bitfinex this news could become a self fulfilling prophecy.
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can you do with Bitcoins but can't do with Dollars? on: January 30, 2018, 09:38:12 PM
You can behold them inside your Ledger Nano S, you can lose them by forgetting the wallet's password or losing the private keys, while still have them in front of you, you can have them stolen in your home without a thief actually never physically entering your home, you can carry bitcoins worth billions in the pocket of a jacket that you then forget in a bar...
159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if another altcoin surpasses BTC in value? on: January 30, 2018, 09:33:58 PM
I guess one day it will inevitably happen - and this is likely to have a huge symbolic value - Bitcoin could crash at that point and perhaps not fully recover any more...
160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Woman Busted sending BTC to ISIS on: January 30, 2018, 09:18:11 PM
This looks to me like one of those "fake news" that the mainstream media is spreading more and more often. If this had happened, how would they find out? ISIS already has (or had) so much money that it makes ridiculous that they would need to receive it from a woman in USA. And how would they then change the Bitcoin? On localbitcoins in Palmira? Or in the Iraqi desert? Come on...
