144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in 2024; What are your opinions? on: January 21, 2024, 07:26:27 PM
Considering the increasing interest from institutional investors, what impact do you think it will have on the overall value and perception of Bitcoin in 2024?
I for one, personally think that Institutional investors have the potential to significantly impact the value and perception of Bitcoin in 2024. Their involvement brings more legitimacy and stability to the market, which can attract more investors and increase overall confidence in Bitcoin. As institutional adoption grows, it could potentially lead to a higher demand for Bitcoin, driving up its value. It's an exciting development that could shape the future of Bitcoin!
What do you think?
I saw another post of the same type.  I don't know there is any need to create new post again and again for the same type of post.  It's not really necessary.

145  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are your expectations for the few weeks after the halving period? on: January 21, 2024, 04:41:24 PM
There is so much expectation about the bitcoin Halving, and it has even attracted many investors to bitcoins who want to be able to profit from bitcoins after the halving. What is expected to happen during the halving?
Bitcoin halving halves miners' payments for adding new blocks to the blockchain. This happens every four years, or after 210,000 blocks are mined. The halving regulates bitcoin issuance by gradually lowering the supply until 21 million is reached.
When discussing Bitcoin halving, it's essential to recognise the market's speculative nature. Past trends can provide insights, but market factors can change results. Cryptocurrency investors must do research, be cautious, and understand the risks.

It is expected for bitcoin to set a new All time high price. After the Halving, what do you think may happen?
A Bitcoin halving, which halves coin issuance, is expected to set a new record high. A reduced supply of new bitcoins and rising demand can boost price momentum. This combination has increased investors' interest and market optimism, which could push Bitcoin prices to new highs.

Do you think that the number of sellers will increase after the halving, sellers of bitcoins from people who want to cash out on the profit they have made?
Experts and enthusiasts speculate how Bitcoin's much-anticipated halving event will affect the cryptocurrency market. The halving of the bitcoin supply has raised questions about whether more sellers will try to profit from their sales. Many investors and traders are talking about halving, and since the last two halvings caused price increases, interest is high.

Or do you think there will be a reduction in interest of buying bitcoins because of it already very high value that new investors will know they cannot profit from anytime soon?
Expectation is a common question about Bitcoin halving events and investor interest. The lower payout for miners may reinforce the scarcity narrative, attracting new investors hoping to profit from a limited supply. However, the current high valuation of Bitcoin may deter novice investors who fear missing out on significant immediate gains. Predicting post-halving market dynamics is complicated because the debate is over whether a shrinking supply will outweigh concerns about the high value.

Thanks

147  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why they need a license if bitcon is not money? on: January 20, 2024, 06:35:32 PM
Although Bitcoin is called a "digital currency," some people and businesses need licences to use it legally and compliantly.

  • Digital currencies like Bitcoin are government-controlled. These groups enforce AML and KYC laws when people buy and sell cryptocurrencies. Obtaining a licence shows that some groups take these rules seriously.
  • Licencing protects consumers by requiring cryptocurrency businesses to follow rules. Stopping fraud, protecting customer funds, and resolving disputes can help the cryptocurrency industry gain trust.
  • Licencing bodies require cryptocurrency businesses to take security measures to prevent theft, fraud, and hacking. These standards help businesses protect their clients' assets and operate safely. They can implement strong security and conduct regular audits.
  • A cryptocurrency licence can help a business gain recognition. This recognition can attract investors, make partnerships easier, and provide financial services to licenced businesses.

Remember that cryptocurrency laws vary by location. Some countries have licencing systems, while others are still creating them. Individuals and businesses should consult lawyers to determine local business rules.
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing altcoins now or during halving? on: January 20, 2024, 03:58:01 AM
The Bull Run cryptocurrency market is around the corner, while waiting for Bitcoin halving to take place and is the right time to buy as many alt-coins as you can, including Bitcoin. Note before investing any alt-coins make sure you make your research properly to avoid loses.
The timing of altcoin investments depends on your risk tolerance and market analysis. Some investors prefer entering the market before Bitcoin halving, anticipating increased attention and potential altcoin gains. However, it's essential to research individual projects and market conditions to make informed decisions, whether investing now or during the halving period.

I started downloading Bitcoin Core today. It appears that it will be very late because of how slowly my network is operating here, but it should be fine in a while. It might crash very soon, though.

151  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New GekkoScience product, the Smart Hub on: January 19, 2024, 05:29:00 PM
I think the SmartHub is great!!! Is it possible to incorporate the SSH cgminer display into the website?
Your praise of SmartHub makes me happy! But I need more details about your request. We assume you want to embed the SSH cgminer display on a webpage. you read some point:

  • Websites displaying SSH information pose security risks. SSH is a secure protocol for remote system access; posting details online is risky. Use authentication and encryption to protect sensitive data.
  • Check if cgminer has a web-based API or another way to get data. Many programmes offer APIs for data access, which is safer than revealing SSH credentials.
  • Web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript will be needed to create a user interface for displaying cgminer information if you proceed. A server-side technology like Node.js, Python, or PHP may be needed to manage cgminer instance-website communication.
  • Enforce access controls to restrict website cgminer information to authorised users.

Providing a step-by-step tutorial without knowing your setup and requirements is difficult. If cgminer has an API, you could use web technologies to create a dashboard or display relevant data on your website. Security is paramount when handling sensitive data and SSH.

Would it also be possible to integrate the bgminer into a screen process for the Moomlander II and have it displayed on the dashboard?
It is technically possible to integrate bgminer into a Moonlander II screen process and display it on a dashboard, but there are a few steps and things to take into account.
-Screen Process:
Use a tool like 'screen'or 'tmux' to run bgminer in a detached session. This allows the mining process to continue running even if you disconnect from the server.
Example with 'screen':
Detach from the screen session by pressing `Ctrl` + `A`, then `D`.

-Security:
Take appropriate security precautions, particularly if you plan to expose the dashboard online. To manage access, think about employing secure connections (HTTPS) and putting authentication in place.

These steps offer a broad overview; the specifics will vary depending on your setup's specifics and bgminer's capabilities. Security should always come first, particularly when working with mining software and possibly exposing it to outside networks. Furthermore, consult the bgminer and Moonlander II documentation for any particular instructions they may offer.

Very cool little device.

Do you have a Git we can submit PRs to? I changed the display from "Million"/"Billion"/"Trillion" to "Mega"/"Giga"/"Tera" and could make that an option if others want.

Just a few suggestions myself (I'll probably edit this post rather than a new one each time I think of something):-

-- Adjustability of the screen and GUI to display 5min, 15min or Avg Hashrate. The graph doing the 5min is perfect though.

-- Shutdown button/option on the GUI for people like me who like to do occasional maintenance on the sticks/devices, saves potential SD card corruption. Then it's just a simple cycling of the power supply to get it back up and running.

-- Change of Currency option for the screen and GUI. (I've managed to do this, but would prefer an official update if possible).

-- Format of the "Bestshare" on the GUI eg, 1.756Million or 1,756,876 etc

Really pleased I decided to treat myself and get one though. It's a great bit of kit and very intuitive to use. It's also tidied up my desk a treat. No more 7" screen with a Rpi hooked up and cables running around everywhere.

I'm looking forward to the updates as and when they arrive  Smiley
Yes your suggestions were nice. Thanks for helping with such nice suggestions.
152  Economy / Gambling / Re: How Crypto casino market themselves? on: January 16, 2024, 05:47:29 PM
I am curious to know who are their targeted audience and at what age group. In general gambling people target countries like thailand more but probably this is not the case with crypto. Do they target nerds or total dumbs? How efficient they are between their marketing tactics?

It's crucial to use tact when discussing marketing and target markets and to refrain from derogatory language such as "nerds" or "total dumbs." Individuals participate in different activities, such as online gambling, for a variety of reasons, depending on their interests and backgrounds. Aiming to appeal to a broad audience, online casinos, including those that take cryptocurrency, usually use marketing strategies. They might concentrate on people curious about technology, cryptocurrencies, and entertainment or looking for an easy-to-access leisure activity. Classifying prospective casino players as "nerds" or "total dumbs" based on their choices or interests is neither accurate nor courteous.

The effectiveness of marketing strategies is contingent upon multiple elements, such as the clarity of messaging, the allure of promotional incentives, the platform's user interface, and the overall gaming encounter. Casinos frequently spend money on affiliate marketing, promotions, and targeted advertising to draw in and keep players. Depending on how well the platform understands its audience and how competitive the online gambling market is, these strategies may or may not be effective. Marketing strategies used by online casinos aim to draw in customers with a wide range of interests. Nonetheless, given the diversity of the gaming community, it's critical to encourage civil and welcoming conversations about these subjects.
153  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you want to see in casino reviews? on: January 16, 2024, 05:37:06 PM
I try to evaluate all the important components that contribute to a player's overall gaming experience fairly when writing in-depth reviews of casinos. To verify the casino's legitimacy and dedication to fair play, the review ought to look into its licensing and regulatory status.
It is imperative to research reputable software developers and carefully consider every game tabletop, live dealer, and slot that is available. With the assistance of details regarding the bonus and promotional offers of the casino, including wagering requirements, players can also understand the potential value of their gaming activities. You need to know about approved payment options, withdrawal policies, and associated costs for a hassle-free financial transaction.

Overall impressions are influenced by the user-friendliness of the website or app, the effectiveness and responsiveness of the customer service channels, and the mobile friendliness of the gaming platform. Important details regarding reliability and legitimacy can be found by reading over the terms, withdrawal policies, and industry reputation of the casino in addition to player reviews. Facts regarding restrictions based on location and aspects pertaining to responsible gaming are essential parts of a thorough and transparent casino review.
154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of Bitcoin as digital currency on: January 16, 2024, 05:21:04 PM
Prospects for Bitcoin as a digital currency are attractive. The ideas and patterns listed below could direct it: Interoperability, mainstream adoption, cross-chain solutions, technology breakthroughs, smart contracts for Bitcoin, improved security protocols, regulatory advancements, resolving environmental issues, broader applications, community, and governance.

Continuous development of decentralized governance frameworks that incorporate community feedback into decision-making to ensure network modifications meet user needs.
Remember that the cryptocurrency market is unpredictable, and many factors could affect Bitcoin's future. Technology, government, and market dynamics will shape Bitcoin's future.
155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time to buy Bitcoin is around the time of Bitcoin Halving: April 22, 2024 on: January 16, 2024, 05:09:31 PM
The months leading up to the Bitcoin halving is when Bitcoin prices is at it's lowest.

Anyone new to Bitcoin needs to buy from now until the halving. Bitcoin prices always go up after the halving from 2016, 2020 and now 2024.

Unfortunately, most people will only buy during the Bitcoin bull run hype during 2025 when the prices are at an all time high. Which is the worst time to buy Bitcoin.

It's difficult to say when investing in other markets or purchasing Bitcoin is best. It is essential to acknowledge that the data I am sharing is predicated on our present comprehension as of January 2022. The next half of Bitcoin is anticipated for April 22, 2024. It halves every four years. This is finished, based on my most recent update. Half of Bitcoin's value has come from increased interest and bullish market behavior. Bitcoin creation is slowing due to a halving of supply. Numerous factors influence the cryptocurrency market, and there is a complicated relationship between price fluctuations and halving events.
Macroeconomic trends, governmental regulations, advancing technology, and market conditions should all be considered when making investment decisions. Furthermore, there can be significant fluctuations in the value of cryptocurrencies, and historical performance doe only sometimes indicates future results.
Research the market and consult with financial professionals if you want to purchase Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency. It would help to base your decisions on your market knowledge, financial objectives, and risk tolerance because all investments carry some risk.
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My dream business succeeded on: January 16, 2024, 05:01:01 PM
I've been longing to Open my dream business for a very long time now, my dad is an influencial politician in my state. He has companies and some businesses and I've been pestering him to assist me with some funds to start my dream business of having my Own Bar but he never gave me a listening ear. Just on January 2 2024, He sent me #2,000,000 in my local currency which is about ($1560 currently in dollars and 0.037347 in BTC) to start up my dream business.
I was so happy and thankful to him for giving this assistance after a very long time I've been requesting money from him to start up a business.

Now I've furnished and equipped the bar with different brands of drinks. I was thinking of using Bitcoin as a medium of payment for my new business since there have been massive involvement of people from my country in Bitcoin after the initial ban placed on cryptocurrency in my country was being lifted.

My major setback now is the high transactions fees and congestion in the mempool but I've made provisions for my BTC Address to customers but for now they're still patronizing me in fiat.
Even though business is good, it's only sometimes like this.  That being said, the initiative you've shown is very different.  That's fine.  But remember that the fees for Bitcoin transactions are very high, so be careful to keep your money safe.
157  Other / Archival / Re: Suppose you own a Bitcoin now. So what to do? on: January 12, 2024, 07:19:56 PM
There was no option to reply so I did it with reference.  Thank you for reminding me of this.
If there was no option for you to make comment then that means the thread was locked and you have the right to create a new thread on the related topic but when I checked the thread it was not locked and that means you didn't check the thread very well to know if it was locked or not.
It was locked when I found it. I checked a few times.  I tried to reply but couldn't find it.  Now I see the thread is open again.  I don't understand what the matter is.  If the thread were open, I definitely wouldn't open a new thread.  Maybe there was a mistake due to a technical problem I didn't understand.
158  Other / Archival / Re: Suppose you own a Bitcoin now. So what to do? on: January 12, 2024, 06:03:01 PM
Well typically I would want to hold my 1 bitcoin for a lot longer I do not think I am quite satisfied yet with the profit I’ll get if i already take my 1 bitcoin to convert it to fiat money but for the sake of entertainment with 1 bitcoin, i will most likely buy a small house or just rent one and build a business with the rest of the money
Wow, that's a perfect plan. It would be much better to rent a small house.  Rent from the house and business will also provide income. You have an ideal plan. We appreciate you expressing your thoughts.

At the current Bitcoin price you can either purchase roughly 300 sqft of land within metro city limits or you can buy an a land of roughly 800 sqft in towns and much more in villages or country side. Real estate has been so expensive nowadays in my country but yeah there are countries where you can get a lot of things with 1 BTC or settle down in their life or start something big like large scale scale business but in my country one can do it by staying in rural or sub urban are but not in the mainland.
Yes, there are many countries where one BTC can do many things. I understand that in your country, something can be done in the countryside or suburbs, but something needs to be done on the mainland. What would you do if you got one BTC?

Op there was no need for you to create a new thread when the thread you quote is still active. You can create a new thread an a topic when the former thread is inactive for 120 days and in this cause the other thread is still very active and look at the last comment from the thread.
~
So next time when you want to create a thread, you should look at two things and such as the date of the creation of the thread and the last comment of the thread.and if those things are inactive for a long period of time (more than 120 days) then you can create but if it is within this range then you only make comments on the thread and not to create yours. I don't know if there are other observations. Thanks.
There was no option to reply so I did it with reference.  Thank you for reminding me of this.
159  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin [BTC] Price Could Reach $1.5 Million by 2030 Says Cathie Wood on: January 12, 2024, 05:52:43 PM
Bitcoin price will reach 1.5 million dollars by 2030 is not certain. I can't say what will happen with the stock market, Bitcoin, or other assets. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are affected by changes in the market, new technologies, macroeconomic trends, and investor sentiment. Predicting the value of Bitcoin is dangerous. When making predictions, it's important to be careful and do research or talk to a financial expert before investing. Keep in mind that the prices of cryptocurrencies can change quickly when unexpected things happen. Before you invest, you should always think about the risks, how much risk you are willing to take, and your current financial situation.
160  Other / Archival / Suppose you own a Bitcoin now. So what to do? on: January 12, 2024, 05:33:56 PM
In your country, what can you buy with 1 BTC? I'd like to see the nice things about your country.

If I own one bitcoin, then I will buy a duplex house.

And buy a bike of my choice.

What can you buy there if you own Bitcoin now? Or what do you buy?

@LoyceV bro made one such post on October 17, 2021. It was good to see the post, so I also exchanged a little opinion with you.
@LoyceV brother's post can come and see if you want.
