141  Economy / Marketplace / Re: If you are a US citizen you basically can go F yourself - BTCT and now Bitfunder on: October 08, 2013, 11:29:43 PM

We are witnessing the end of the centralized stock exchanges as a business model. The reason it will end is because the single point of failure has been identified and it's Burnside and Ukyo or whoever runs the centralized exchange. When it's decentralized then it will be as hard to shut down as Bittorrent.

Interesting concept.  Hadn't thought of P2P stock exchange, wonder what it would take to make that happen.
I originally was thinking about a stock exchange but hosted in half a dozen countries, one on each continent.

Bitshares or Mastercoin or Colored coins all seem to have more promise. You can also just wait for the US crowdfunding legislation to take effect.

Which government wants a nationally divided Bitcoin community? All of them.

Your kidding right?  I have been waiting for the SEC to publish their crowdfunding rules.  They were supposed to have them done January 2013.  Nothing like meeting your 'legal' obligations on time.  Roll Eyes

Quite true that all of the countries want bitcoin dead!  They have no CONTROL over it and therefore are marginalized.  Our once chance to have a global economy without bankers and politicians.  The next decade is going to be VERY interesting.

OOPS!  I didn't see all the RED entries before.  WOW, was I wrong.  Good, I hope the moron that was using a trading robot really got hosed!

Maybe this is a good thing and will make Bitfunder change their minds??
144  Economy / Marketplace / Re: If you are a US citizen you basically can go F yourself - BTCT and now Bitfunder on: October 08, 2013, 11:03:00 PM
No, I don't think there is going to be any crashing.  Maybe a significant slowdown, but not dead in the water.  Granted, the US contingency was large but not the end all.  The majority of mining is still in Europe, with China rapidly catching up.  Someone has a funky graphic showing where all the coins are being generated.

Is your sister cute?  I could move to England and make us both a ton of money.  Just kidding.
145  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: October 08, 2013, 10:37:04 PM
Dividends did not process.

There is now a notice on Bitfunder that US citizens will not be allowed to participate, and they will have to sell everything and remove their coin by November 1st.  I guess all my funds are in limbo until you move to a new exchange.  Cry

Nice working with you and thanks for the profits! Grin
146  Economy / Marketplace / Re: If you are a US citizen you basically can go F yourself - BTCT and now Bitfunder on: October 08, 2013, 10:29:09 PM
As a dual citizen, I can get the passport + birth certificate + credit card requirement but I'm not going to be able to produce a foreign utility bill. Damn.
Got any family in the 'old country'?  Offer to pay one of their utilities if they put it in your name.  That's how I have 2 addresses in the US.  Mine and my mother's, who is in her 90's.  I manage ALL of her bills, and registered my car at her house.  Saved a TON on car insurance  Grin

Well, it is another interesting day to be an American and find out how much the Banks control your country!!!

Where did you see this? It's not on their website.
Go to the tab marked DASHBOARD!

Did anyone find out why BTCT closed?  Was the Securities and Exchange commission involved?  Frankly with some of the trolls out here I was not surprised that Burnside decided to throw in the towel.
148  Economy / Marketplace / Re: If you are a US citizen you basically can go F yourself - BTCT and now Bitfunder on: October 08, 2013, 10:11:21 PM
now might be a good time to emigrate...

I am seriously thinking about it but will need to scrape together enough money to do so.  My problem is age (mid-50s) and I only speak one language!  Sucks to be me.

Well I guess my website "HowlingMad.us" that I was building is a dead project.  Need to change my signature and cross out the sites that are gone.

Well, it is another interesting day to be an American and find out how much the Banks control your country!!!

Now Bitfunder has joined the fray and is kicking all US users off their site also!!! Cry

Please be advised that BitFunder is implementing the following rules and procedures:

As of October 8th, 2013, BitFunder will not accept new registrations from any United States persons or entities. All new registrants must supply the information required to obtain "Verified" status on their linked WeExchange account. BitFunder may, in its sole direction, decline to accept any new registrations.

As of October 8th, 2013, all current BitFunder users who are located in the United States or are determined to be United States persons or entities will not be able to enter into any new positions on the Bitfunder website, and, as of November 1, 2013, such users will also not be allowed to sell positions on the BitFunder website.

All current BitFunder users who are not United States persons or entities must supply the information required to obtain "Verified" status on their linked WeExchange account before November 1, 2013. Any such users who fail to provide the necessary information will not be able to enter into or sell positions on the BitFunder website as of November 1, 2013.

What next?  Banning even mining over here?  Just when I thought I was going to be able to make a little extra money.  I don't mind paying income taxes, it is everyone's duty to pay.  I am in the 39% tax bracket so I already know what the pain is like.

Well to everyone else in the world, good luck!  It was nice being a member of the community, at least for a little while.

There's an announcement on btct.co and Litecoin Global that CIPHERMINE intend to buy burnside's code and relaunch both exchanges in December.
Yes, I mentioned that above in posting 1330.  Sucks for me if this happens as a US citizen.
151  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: September 29, 2013, 08:47:41 PM
Deprived, I just read the post about a group trying to buy Burnsides' software and host it in the UK.  I live in the US which would disallow my participation with this new exchange.

When is the latest I can sell my DMS shares, if DMS is not listed on Bitfunder or Havelock?

Would that be October 30th?
Thank you for your time.
152  Economy / Trading Discussion / The bitcoin visa card - anyone use in the USA on: September 29, 2013, 08:28:46 PM
Stumbled across this site http://thebitcoincard.co.uk/index.php/ordercard.  Ok, nice to have a prepaid card with coin on it but .5 BTC just to start?

Additionally, the actual Visa card involved is a Transcash visa prepaid.  Which is .1BTC to purchase and then .1BTC monthly with a 950 USD limit.
  • Maximum Daily Withdrawal - May vary by ATM limits   $500
    Maximum Daily Load Amount   $950
Maximum Monthly Load/Balance Amount - General Purpose Card   $5,000
Maximum Monthly Load/Balance Amount - Payroll Card   $10,000
Maximum Loads per Month   10 loads

Wondering if there are any other options for someone in the USA. Huh

153  Economy / Goods / Re: Anonymous reloadable EUR/GBP VISA cards with own bank account [Special offer] on: September 29, 2013, 06:49:00 PM
Special offer this weekend only:
for 10 x EUR cards.
Limited offer, fcfs.

Orders will be shipped on Monday with, tracking, insurance and you need to sign for them, unless you stated otherwise.
Bernard, I am very confused here.  I attempted to buy the cards stated but invoice only allows EUR?  Am I not reading something correctly?
Thank you

Great! Thanks for the answer and link.
155  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: September 29, 2013, 04:42:11 PM
I was wondering if you would be performing another 10 day dividend for PURCHASE and SELLING before BTCT closes?  The tenth day would be Oct. 6th.
156  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: September 27, 2013, 10:57:24 AM
If we don't plan on taking the ciphermine out, how do we ensure that our shares are transferred to wherever this security goes next? This activity has to be done by the October 7th deadline, right?
If I read the banner message from Burnside correctly, all trading will cease October 7th and the websites will go offline around the end of October.  So there are two-three weeks to get coins, etc. straightened out among all the players.

Right now I'm personally willing to buy up pairs of MINING+SELLING at .0075 in decent quantites (10+ BTC worth)
Deprived,
Since I am the FIRST vote for relisting, I will bring up the subject in advance of the new stock exchange.  (Ha, beat the rest of you to the dms.selling motion!)

Was I supposed to be buying mining and selling as pairs?  I was just buying purchase and selling.

Thank you for driving the keyboard so hard during all the lunacy!  It keeps us out here (mostly) sane.

I reckon the reason for not selling may be a legal one, he may have been ordered to close down the site, and that being the case there is no way he can simply sell it. I think there is a lot of things going on that we aren't aware of just yet (or perhaps we never will). Luckily all the information is available so that the shares can be traded on other sites.

So what is my choices for a new stock exchange?
