141  Economy / Service Discussion / Do mtgox wire transfers work again? on: August 20, 2013, 10:26:31 AM
Does mtgox have wire transfers again? How long does a wire transfer take? They suspended them for a while, no?
142  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Powered risers or not? on: August 20, 2013, 09:17:54 AM
You should used powered risers regardless of how many video cards you are using. You could safely run 2-3 cards without powered risers. I made the mistake of not using powered risers because other people said I could run five gpus without them. Well, my mother board had a molex connection for pci-e slots and I had ocz gold psu. well, my cable for my psu burnt out, and somewhere along the line i had to send back my gpu for a replacement.

Use powered risers if you want to power more than 2 or 3 three cards. Do not listen to those who say you do not need them. You could probably get them for around 8-12 each. Or even 6 if you get them directly from China.

Yes you can run 5 GPU without them but it depend of what GPU model. It also depend of the motherboad you use.

I have 10x 6770 but each consume about 90W (undervolted). If you try 5x 7990 ofc it's gonna burn  Roll Eyes

I tried 5x 7950. even 4 made it burn

I looked at your XCrowd products. Everything looks fine and lovely except common usa households cannot handle more than 1920 watts of continuous power. They operate at fuse outlet circuits 120v x 20 amp. And 80%/continuous power of 2400watts is 1920 watts.

Therefore, I could not buy ASCRAEUS nor OLYMPUS. Your prices are more attractive than Cointerra bogus shit.

they got greedy and cocky. thats what happen when you put a bunch of elite engineers together. you get overpriced salaries and over priced products.

Where is the punch line?

They can't be serious. The ROI is horrible. I rather buy a kncminer

You're missing two key figures

$8/GH vs $17/GH

but more importantly

0.6w/GH vs 2.5w/GH

That second number is absolutely key to sustainable mining.

http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/ figures says that a October delivery of a KNCMiner unit and Hashfast November unit has a better ROI than a Cointerra December unit.

KNCminer: 63.7% ROI
Hashfast: 52.% ROI
Cointerra : 37.5% ROI

tell me. If you have only a million dollars to invest, which one or two would you invest in?

TGB has a price of $15,750 for 2TH/sec not sure where they got this from though!

What a farce of a price. I rather wait for the next series of asic hardware. They would surely promise a better ROI.
151  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra GoldStrike System Prices to be Released Soon! on: August 19, 2013, 08:38:00 AM
This is what is going to happen: XCrowd is going to post a price list tomorrow like they said they would. I am going to pre-order all their expensive units like a bunch of other people. Then, I will not have any money left over for Cointerra.

Thats what is going to happen. I'm sorry Cointerra, but you had your chance.

Why wouldn't you give some to Cointerra to spread out the risks. Like the good folks who bought butterfly and at the same time bought avalon, just something to ponder and moreover Conterra could likely deliver earlier?

I was just kidding about XCrowd. XCrowd does not even have an engineering team right now, I think.

Anyone know when the chips finish fabrication or they get sample chips?

I'm still waiting for October to sell out, so I could buy a November unit at a cheaper price.
You realize that an extra month of mining is worth more than the price difference?

ROTFLMAO.

How early in October do you think you could get a unit at this time? I am guessing that you would be cutting it close to November if you order now. Let's say you buy a Jupiter and get a October 25th date. You would never get ROI according to http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/

All the better though. It is honestly better for them to sell out closer to November and not have to pre-order so soon. It is better to get it delivered as soon as you order, so, with luck, they will never sell out of October, and I could order it in November and get it in November.

If sample boards comes out next week, then, does that mean they are ahead of schedule or behind schedule? What usually happens in the time line? where are we?
I'm thinking the boards will already have chips mounted on them, which would mean production shortly after... but that's just me. I'm actually expecting some really good news... like shipping beginning the first week of September, nice, low wattage specs, and "Considerable" Gh/s gains. They do indeed have a track record now concerning the underpromise/overdeliver statement, and I'm lovin' it.

I can only hope that is true. Customer service told me last month that upgrade option would last until the end of August, but it is the middle of August right now and they closed that option. So, they must be at least two weeks ahead of schedule towards shipping.

The first actual date they ever mentioned shipping was September 2013. They've affirmed a few times now that they are on track for that date.

They've taped out, they've shown picts of case and fan, they have PCB picts coming late next week, and they should be receiving chips within the next week or two, or at least their assemblers will be.

July was never on offer.

I think it is at the end of September though, so, like September 30th.
