It says "pay on delivery".  So I take it ordering doesn't require you forking over money yet?
Most likely the site will let you pay for the whole thing if you so desire, sans escrow. Yet another avenue for the scam. We shall see.

That option will not be available for at least 5 months. Sorry to disappoint.

It's very unclear. What exactly does this mean?  Will the site force customers to fork the full amount upfront on Monday or not? Or will the payment be due against delivery via escrow so the site will only take "sign ups" on Monday? You are talking about refunds but also talking about pay against delivery.
So confusing. Please clarify.
Thanks.

That post was directed at Anenome5.

You would be able to reserve your units on Monday and will then be instructed on how to complete your order by sending your deposit to a trusted third party (e.g. Escrow.com or John K) to be released to xCrowd only after you've confirmed the delivery yourself.

You will have the option of only depositing 30% with the escrow providers for a 10% premium. Refund requests will be processed within 48 hours and you won't even have to go through us to have it processed as it can be settled by your escrow agent. Our refund policy and payment methods will be explained in more details on Monday 12:00 (PDT).

Does XCrowd have an engineering team yet?

Yes. The open listings are still in place as we are always open to talking to more talented engineers. Most our R&D work is being currently done by a third party design house with over 200 IC design and verification engineers. Although we won't be ready to ship for at least 4 months (currently still at pre-tape out) it still is an ambitious target to meet so we literally have the best working on it with previous experience in time sensitive projects.

Hello xcrowd!

While I have gone through escrow.com payment options, there might be a problem with paying with paypal or credit card since they request premier service. I would like to know if there is any other paying option on reservation. Will there be reservation with paying also in BTC?

Thanks for all the answers!

John K will be handling all our BTC escrow transaction for a low fee. Escrow.com should be able to process normal credit card transactions and wire transfers. However if you could email us your correspondence with them we'll look into it and confirm it with them to clarify everything before Monday.

Thanks in advance.

oh i thought you work with gridchip..landscape will be different in half a year..  you guarantee difficulty insurance +clear refund policy which sounds refreshing
but by that time 350m difficulty is reached; if there is no no questions asked refund then surely what you'd be left with is only those not paying attention ?
One issue that might come up and this is a negative for x-crowds business. If you are expecting full payment upon delivery, what if people just don't pay you? Or do you mean delivery of miners to your location? How does this work?

The market is tired of seeing new asic manufacturers pop up requesting full payments months in advance where there is a risk of them either running away or the business (& including the deposits) going down the drain. We believe that there will be enough of a demand for us to take this risk but there are redundancies in place in our business model for that scenario.

Hello,

Can you clarify the 6,6$/GH statement please?

What is the minimum volume to get this price?

Do you add the 20% VAT witch is standard in UK?

(would make price go up to about 8$)

Thank you

The units will be most likely exported from China (to be confirmed within the coming weeks) under a Chinese registered firm. Although our prices will include all the taxes on our side (we would be more or less exempt from PRC VAT), but you might end up having to pay import duties and VAT at customs depending on where you are based. We will try our best to reduce the additional costs (including shipping), but there is only so much that we can do.

If all companies offer "Hashrate insurance" then all that will happen is that they'll flood the network with more chips for free, causing nothing to happen.

If this is fact then ull have to reduce for the UK as import tax form China is expensive unless you only decided to declare part of the value on units on waybill numbers etc and DHL and so forth. If you also saying all taxes paid your side then you would also need to prove this on documents to actualy expodite any extra tax on it to show tax has been paid in one country already and no future tax is needed to be paid on it.

Please be aware that Bitcoin through Escrow will not work because you are at the mercy of the Escrow Guy who will release the escrow once the miners were shipped out with a DHL or UPS or Fedex Tracking number. They could send you a box of fans. If Escrow are release only when the customer opens up the box, test and run the miner to his satisfaction and confirm is the real thing and later the funds are release it may work somehow. So it should be 72 or 120 hours continuously satisfactory operation after receiving the miner before escrow funds are released.

I always said this is a good way to do it.  Basically lock up a set amount and just deliver.  Production costs aren't that high.  The problem you have is escrow since if btc goes super high everyone will be trying to get it back out like all of a sudden moving and "not getting" the delivery.  Also John k would be holding a crazy amount of coin but there is a free solution actually to that escrow problem.  Definitely watching.  Under strict terms I'd put a large amount for a preorder no problem.

Thanks for all the answers!

The seller sets up payment methods Im sure xcrowd will get premier service to accept credit cards. Even if the buyer had to sign up for a higher service how is that a problem? Just sign up.

That explains everything. Tnx!!

Elsewhere in the real world, putting down a deposit of 10% is considered reasonable, for items that can't be bought off the shelf. Why can't mining equipment have a similar scheme?

It could, but as long as a percentage of investors are willing to offer 0% interest loans for pre-ordered vaporware, why shouldn't vendors take advantage?

Yes. The escrow fee is the only fee/expense that isn't refundable (out of our hands).

Also are we going to see more information on the specific units on launch because myself and probably a lot of other low level miners are interested in the Arsia 15gh/s model.

Anyways here is to hoping that this affordable miner works out better than most other asic companies have provided.
