Today we have a high-voltage match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. The point to remember here is that MI has win 9 out of the last 10 matches between the two teams. I still think MI are a much stronger team in this season of IPL. One match defeat doesn't destroy the morale of any team. KKR are a good side but MI are a much better team, if you compare them both. In today's match I think MI have much greater chance of winning it. Don't forget the match is happening at Chennai not at Mumbai so their strong lineup may struggle as well and on the other side KKR has perfect bowling unit to tackle MI batsmen if the pitch starts assist the spin bowling. But there is no objection in the strong lineup available in MI because they have perfect players for each of the position so even if one batsman plays well the team will reach 170+ in any pitch condition. |

2 quick wickets and game tilting towards KKR for sure but dew could come into play, it should be tight game imo as SRH got depth in their battling line up where Rashid Khan comes at number 8 and he knows how to swing bat.
At this point, the game can swing either way. 88 runs needed from 8 overs at 11 runs per over, with 8 wickets in hand for SRH. And the most important thing here for SRH is that Jonny Bairstow is at the crease. But I disagree when you say that SRH has got depth in their batting. Look at the players who will come next - Vijay Shankar, Mohammad Nabi and Abdul Samad. None of these three are in good form right now. Edit: Bairstow is out. Cummins got the wicket. Samad scored some good runs in the last few balls but no one can be blamed because SRH tried their best and lost the match by 10 runs, David Warner needs more match practice I guess because he was rusty with his bat today. Saha was one of the best player but he is having no form I guess so need someone to open the innings with Warner for better performance in the upcoming matches. |

The left handers of Delhi Capitals have begun their performance in a much stable manner. The power play is well used, both Dawan and Prithvi Shah maintained the run rate above 10. The opening partnership increased the pressure over the CSK bowlers and that is where things went out of control. The same is well utilised by the Delhi Capitals make a big win with 7 wickets remaining.
CSK was just hopeless. Their strategy of including too many oldies (i.e players above 38-40 years of age) is clearly not working. And another big negative is the poor form of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. During the last edition also, Dhoni's batting was unsatisfactory. Ruturaj Gaikwad as the opener is not working. Their bowlers are also conceding too many runs. The only bright spots from the first match were Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina and Moeen Ali. There is no issues on their batting side to be honest, even though the start was too bad and Ruturaj and Dhoni got out too early still they have power to score 180+ is impressive though but the main problem came with the pitch which was not assisting any kind of bowling in the second innings and also from the second half of first innings that is why the game shifted from low to high scoring game. |

Bad start for CSK they have lost 3 wickets and after the end of the 10th over they have scored 80 runs. Suresh Raina needs to stick to the wicket for at least the next 5 overs, he is a good rotator of the strike and could easily increase the present run rate. Still, DC is the favorite for this match.
There is fall of wicket at specific interval, but the players are somehow making contribution to the score. Two wickets fell off initially, and Moen Ali and Raina gave a good start. After the wicket of Moen Ali Ambati Rayudu have come to partner with Raina. Now both are maintaining the partnership scoring 117-3 end of the over 13. Raina have taken his 50 runs. CSK started very bad but Raina and the following batsmen recovered from the initial struggle and ended the match with a terrific total of 188 but DC started the match well from the beginning and took the match away from CSK. Pollard did not do anything, who was the bowler who bowled the last over, Harshal Patel i am seeing his for the first time and the way in which he bowled was incredible and RCB surprised with Washington Sundar opening the batting and i was a great move as he has the ability to swing the bat and it looks like they are open to experimentation and they might try to win the match. I saw that Pollard came just yesterday to join with the team after quarantine that is probably one of the reason but in general he is one of the deadliest current batsmen in the death overs especially in T20 format. Good to see that RCB playing good second innings as well and Maxwell is scoring runs with no hurries can he do this throughout the season?

Expecting competitive wicket (spin) for the 1st game, would be great if its average scoring game but if its road then 200+ score is on the cards for sure and both teams got some fine power hitters in the middle order (Pandaya, Pollard, AB, Maxwell). My money on RCB.

IPL 2021 is finally set to start today people. It's just been a couple of months since the last edition and I can still remember MI lifting the trophy vividly. My wild prediction is that SRH or RCB will lift the trophy this year.
As long as COVID-19 doesn't screw things up, this will probably be one of the most entertaining editions of the IPL so far.
I bet on MI in their opening encounter against RCB primarily due to their in-form players. Excited to watch Maxwell's performances in RCB. Am also curious about whether Arjun Tendulkar gets to play in the main squad or not.
But this time both team are playing away from their home ground so this could be more interesting to watch, Chennai pitch normally assist spin bowling but in the recent matches we had seen it as more flat pitch so we can assume that this match also can be played on such pitch. So the opening match will be a high scoring game in my opinion but RCB got got Chahal who can be more effective on such pitches while MI loaded with full of talents in their batting lineup. |
