141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: April 16, 2018, 05:20:58 PM
can anyone who's upgraded comment on starpool profit? how is profit switching with the 2 new algos and how are payouts?
I havent upgraded yet, still mining verge on suprnova.

I have upgraded and am currently mining @ Starpool. Profit switching works however they do not have a X11Gost pool. All you need to do is add Nist5=1 to yuor password to enable the switching. Work fine tho. Mines been going between Qubit and Nist5 mostly

It seems to me that StarPool algo switching is just time base rotation and not base on profitable switching.  Is your setting like below? May I know is what is the 1 being set for Nist5=1 mean?

c=LTC,quark=1,qubit=1,myr-gr=1, Nist5=1,skein=0.5

It seems not so profitable on StarPool when I use this algo switching.

thanks,

Those numbers dictate the weighting the Pool uses when determining which pools to show you as Alive. If you have Nist5=1.2, it a multipler for avg mBTC/day. So say Nist5 is earning .002 per day and Qubit is earning .002 per day. If you have NIst5 as 1.2 then its effective Btc per day is .0024 Where as Qubit would be 1* .002 or .002. I use this flag and favor Nist5 more because it draws less power. Therefore even if Nist5 and Qubit are both supposed to make .002 really Nist5 would make more once you subtract electric costs. For instance Skein is .5 because the X10 only has 5GH/s of hashing power but online it shows Skein as earning .0035 per day which would be true if our machines could hit 10GH\s.

Does that help?

I dont think, that this help, because it is totally wrong...

one more day kids... just HODL till official XVG dump announcement Tongue

Cute... But in all fairness, by this time, it could be the biggest thing to hit crypto and it still might not be able to counter the FUD and BS that is coming from totally uninformed people posting with certainty here and on social media about something for which they have NO clue. If Verge wanted to create hype and excitement, they have succeeded, lets hope the actual deal lives up to at least some of the uninformed speculation out there...

So you are the only one that is „informed“? Why can’t you all just stop posting anything and wait until tomorrow. And I mean the supporters as well as the Skeptics. No one knows anything. There are people that invest in Verge, because of the announcement. And there are other people that doubt that there is any partnership. This is fine. Everyone can do what ever he wants to do. But stop trying to force your opinions to all other people to be the only right opinion. And again, this is for the supporters as well as for the Skeptics. We will see tomorrow.

No one knows and the worst thing anyone, who don’t know anything, can do is telling he knows what’s going on. Maybe there will be an announcement tomorrow of the biggest partnership between a cryptocurrency and a big company. Maybe not. We Will see tomorrow...

The skeptics say there is no clue or even proof for the partnership. And that’s right. But is there a clue or a proof, that there is no partnership. No. I think it is not even uncommon that partners wait for a special date to announce there relationship. This could have several reasons. But again, all the things said here are only speculation. No more...

Finally got access to my coins in the wallet, had the wallet to rescan all transactions via console. Took a while, but now the balance is correct. Just in case youre missing coins in your wallet also.

May i ask how you did that? What do i have to type into the console?

Is this an official site of verge: https://verge-blockchain.com/
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: URGEEENT!!! Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: April 12, 2018, 10:22:32 PM
GUYS PLEASE BEWARE!!!

I try to be as safe as I can while networking. But there is some "mofo", called "abbik84.x10", who is using the fact that people are updating Baikals, and he is getting into them, (cause password comes back to baikal, and root password too), it happened to me in a matter of 5 minutes or less. Got into my X10, (of course I had DMZ on my router on it and all that), but I just didnt have the chance to configure it again and this MOFO changed the root password, and made me impossible to configure back my X10, even though I was able to login and modify pools, but on Status page, his account will keep showing up on MPhub. I mean, I swear I cleared Browser Cache, went to different PC, went to Linux and checked again, and he will just keep mining in my X10.

Please confirm anybody who experienced something similar, I though for a while it was a Baikal´s tester username or something like that....

Of course I formatted, disabled DMZ and all that configured everything and Im back mining, but JUST BEWARE!!!

Cheers mates!, and stop arguing about how to make free money and get ur arse working!

Just configure your miner without internet connection and change passwords (web password and root login). Even if i have no idea why anybody can just come to your network and i think you should find out why and how this is possible, it seems to me that this is the easiest way to setup your miner and change passwords before the hacker can do...

same here. any updates with the windows wallet? cant sync mine since yesterday.

- ditto -

should be out within the next few hours, windows compiles for verge are never easy. i'll post here and a tweet as soon as its uploaded to github.

sorry for the delay guys

Sorry for saying that, but do you seriously want to tell me that you are not able to release a new windows wallet for about two or three days now?

Is there an updated Windows wallet by now?

This coin is shit and a total disgrace.

The argumentation in your post is really impressive...
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: April 09, 2018, 04:46:04 AM
fork went smooth guys!

average block time is ~37 seconds again.. no large amounts of scrypt blocks being inserted with 0 difficulty.

android wallets have already been updated on the back end, there is nothing you need to do.

new 4.0.2 version mac wallets are online and can be downloaded here: https://github.com/vergecurrency/VERGE/releases/download/4.0.2/VERGE-Qt-4-7-2018.dmg

windows wallets will be posted shortly.

as far as i know, most pools have updated, and i confirmed that bittrex and binance have both updated as well.

as you can see here:
http://antminepool.com/explorer/XVGB

things look great.

as you can see here, from the attack, they did not look so great:
http://antminepool.com/explorer/XVGB?start=2030000

seeing a block with a slightly earlier timestamp isn't an issue, or even malicious, as all blockchains allow for a drift window.
(and much of our network is across tor which adds some degree of latency)

update, 24 hours after our fork, we had 2400+ blocks, out of an average of 2880 allowed, so the chain is looking very nice again!

Any news about the windows wallet?
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Network Attack on XVG / VERGE on: April 08, 2018, 10:41:58 PM
Quote
“ Speculation :that partnership gonna be very probably with German Bank and they will release xvg debit cards. Imagine Verge chain being attacked in future, how you will pay with such card. Useless. And I'm not even talking about that when I was in team dev said xvg will NEVER partnership with bank, ever. Because it is anonymous, decentralized currency.“

I have been out of this topic as pool operator of NLPool.NL because as pool operator you have to be neutral with your opinion i think. That's something up to the miners, not us.

However, this argument you make here is not making any sense. My bank, and also many more here in this country get D-Dossed multiple times a year, and with that their nice I-Phone app breaks, android app breaks, website down, no pin transactions etc. Also, Skimming of bankcards, creditcards .... it is day to day practice here in the Netherlands. So i don't see how my bank is any better then a xvg-coin in times of difficulty. The argument that the banking system is more secure is also not valid... you and i know it isn't.... it's far worse. If you talk about millions of coins now extra in circulation, that still worry's me less then the amount of coins the ECB printed in a minute.

So i actually do believe that such partnership *can* be possible. I am more worried about the EU stance against crypto then over this thing.
Perhaps this hacker who did this job can solicit at the ECB... he sure as hell knows how to print money from thin air, so he can just continue his job there without anyone caring or bothering.  Grin Grin

So, i left our pool open for XVG during last days. VergeDEV was helpful and communicating and they still are.

So anyone looking for a pool to mine XVG ( Blake / Lyra2V2 or X17 ) , you are welcome @ NLPOOL ( www.nlpool.nl )

And for the other arguments of fellow pool's losing 12.8K of money .... Sorry but is all in the game. If you do XXX's TH/s of traffic and make lot's of money a day, just make a reservation for times it goes bad because we all have our good and bad days in life.

It's a pathological if it's true situation with your banks in NL. I dont see any of these things, in others EU banks, as I was, never ddosed, sometimes some conservative works, and that's it. It's really bad there I see.
And this attack just dusted a cover on verge being a shitcoin, true shitcoin, without even working properly without exploits blockchain, pump and dumpers dream

Do you think your bank will write you a letter each time someone tries to hack them (or someone does hack them)?

I am not a Verge Fan, but what happened to them can happen to any coin any time. Even Bitcoin or Litecoin or any other of the big coins. Definitely, there were made a lot of faults during this attack. But in the end, they fixed the problem. So maybe everyone should just calm down right now again...
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Network Attack on XVG / VERGE on: April 08, 2018, 10:36:38 PM
For a long time I thought that it is almost impossible to launch a successful 51% attack for pretty strong networks like that of XVG. All those bugs in the code that led to this attack, were they amateurish or is that something we have to fear in many code bases?

There was no 51% attack...
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: April 08, 2018, 03:01:19 PM
I hope trex and Binance will shutdown verge market soin.

Perhaps someone will shut you down....

Well said man only in a distorted mind can have that kind of thought because XVG is moving millions every day
In fact yesterday April 7th XVG moved $ 871 million NO Exchange wants to loose that kind a percentage.

By the way rumors are saying that the huge partnership is Litepay because Litepay Broke up with Litecoin.
If this is right wow XVG will be to the moon soon

As you said it is rumors. And if this is true, it would be great for XVG of course. But it would be far away from what I would call the „deal of the century“.

Poolovich.pro have too many orphaned blocks, can you recommend any other for Myriad Gorestl?
Thanks.

I think it's not poolovich fault, verge blockchain is still under attack.
You will find orphaned blocks everywhere until verge devs don't fix it.

The bad thing is, it seems they dont have the skill do fox it... A coin with a worth of about $1billion... And the devs seems to have no really software engineering skills...

True. And sad.
At this point, my doubt is that they do not want to fix it.
Given the current value of that currency and the important partnership that should announce in about ten days, if I were in their place I would urgently pay someone to fix everything as soon as possible.
Instead, in doing so, it seems that the project has arrived there just by chance or by simple commercial skill, but not for a real technical value. Maybe they are trying to sell an empty box.

That are the big questions. Is there a big deal at all? Are all these things happening in the last days just a big exit scam? I dont know. I have some verge... and we will se in 10 days...

OMG, this coin will drop like a stone, and well deserved. The devs are complete idiots. Even after the bug was discovered, they commit a fix where you can clearly see that they lack basic mathematics knowledge. They are stuck at multiplication hahaha. Now imagine them when they have to work on something more complicated.

I am quite sure, you would be able to solve the problem in three minutes... If you dont want to help, why not just shut up?
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Baikal Giant X10 on: April 04, 2018, 10:25:19 PM
Well if you keep the old chain and make it a succesful coin, you can do, look at the forks of Bitcoin like Bitcoin Cash. The fact, that some devs just change algo is a thing, that is completely against decentralization. For me, what they are doing is just a scam. Telling they replace these algorithms, but keeping SHA256 and Scrypt, and telling the reason is decentralization. I can imagine the reason: The devs have only SHA256 and Scrypt ASIC's... In the end, there cant be any decentralization at all, if the devs can just decide to change algorithm. What other proof does anyone need for a completey centralized currency? It is not even better as Mr. Mario Draghi telling the worl he is generating 60 Billion Euro each month.
Fact for me is, that i will not support Digibyte anymore. I will wait for a good price to sell and then sell all my digibyte. In my opinion, this currency has no future with devs like this. For the beginning i will concentrate on Verge now.

If I didn't read wrong, DBG will not "fork" as BTC/BCC: previous chain will simply die and there will not be any dev to keep it alive.
Except for surprises, of course.  :-)
It's a pity, yes.

Thats what i mean. If there were any persons who would be able to keep it alive, there would be a split. Of course i dont know if there is anyone interested in. I do not have the ability, otherwise i would do...

I tried to talk with the devs in there official support channel. But they only start insulting me and deleted my threads. So there is not only no decentralization... There is also censorship. If you write something in there channel they dont want to hear, or they dont want the community to hear, they just delete it. In the end, i am happy to find out how its working there, so i can stop investing time and money in this project right now...

Hmmm, I too have been a huge supporter of DigiByte and do not agree with this. I have a batch of X10's that I was just getting ready to sell off for re-investment of more equipment. However, I will now hold off and research this more. I will fork the repos now into my Company Repo so I have the old code and will consider keeping the old blockchain alive.

Keep in mind though that it's not just that simple. You will still have to do some code configuration updates, list the coin on exchanges and be responsible for future updates and support. I have been working on a new blockchain whitepaper for two months now and initially wanted to use DigiByte as the coin, but did not want to fork. Now it looks like if they go through with this, I may as well just fork and use it as the base coin which will kill two birds with a single stone.

Thoughts?

I think that sounds quite good

DGB will remove Qubit, Groestl & Skein. xvg is just another shitcoin that won't last long..

https://medium.com/@josiah_digibyte/digibyte-through-2018-wallets-algo-swap-and-why-you-dont-need-to-worry-about-a-fork-a22c407319d6

At this point in time it’s looking like SHA256 (Bitcoin ASICs) and Scrypt (Litecoin ASICs) will stay, and we’ll probably replace Qubit, Groestl & Skein.

We’re aware that some people have gone out and purchased things such as Groestl / Skein miners with them only having come out since November ’17, however we’re also aware there are a decent number of other blockchains that users can still use those ASIC miners on, so those with the relatively new ASICs still have other options they can pursue.

Lol, he's a hypocrite. That's like a double standard.

With the following quotes:

"By changing some of the mining algorithms, we’re going to be doing away with some (not all) ASIC mine-able algorithms so that we still get the distribution afforded to us by GPU miners."

"So why are we doing this? If we had to describe why in two words, it would be “Security” & “Decentralization”."

"At this point in time it’s looking like SHA256 (Bitcoin ASICs) and Scrypt (Litecoin ASICs) will stay, and we’ll probably replace Qubit, Groestl & Skein."

In other words, that's not Decentralization cause he favors SHA256 and Scrypt ASIC still. No body mines SHA256 and Scrypt with GPU's... LOL

But it would means a dead of X10 Mining, if they change the algo`s.   Bacause more than 100 TH/s who mine now DGB go to other coins!

But it would means a dead of X10 Mining, if they change the algo`s.   Bacause more than 100 TH/s who mine now DGB go to other coins!
Not happy.
Was supporting DGB. hence i bought x10. Wankers

Guys having problem.
My miner a while of mining doesnt let me to connect.
Any clue why?

Anyone who has the skills (unfortunately  i do not) should keep alive the old blockchain in this hardfork and keep going those algorithms. Just taking away this algos is not what the comminty wants... so we need to show to the dev team, if they do so, they will have a split like ethereum and ethereum classic... maybe they consider to do not then...
How does decentralization fot to the fact, that one persn (or maybe a few persons in the dev team) decide to stop these algorithms. This is centralization as it could not be shown better and if they do so really, i think and i hope that this is the end of Digibyte...

Removing algorithms because of decenralization reasons and keeping exactly those two asic algorithms where you have the most centralization sounds just ridiculous to me...

You can keep old chain as long as you want. You will end having worthless coins, because no one will assept them - nor exchange, nor anyone. If the devs want to change algo, they will do that and no one is going to prevent that. Sad but true.

Well if you keep the old chain and make it a succesful coin, you can do, look at the forks of Bitcoin like Bitcoin Cash.
