141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any profit left in Altcoin ? Setting up GPU rig. on: October 20, 2013, 04:35:39 PM
http://ltc.kattare.com/calc.php

If you mine LTC at 2.6 MH/s and 850W (I don't know the exact figures, but they should be in this range) and at 1000 difficulty, you'll earn $140 a month. If you go to multipool.us, you should get a bit better (set auto cashout, auto sell), but probably not by much.

The payback time for this should be less than 1 year, unless the scrypt FPGA boards come out quickly, in which case you should sell.

How ? Not even with 4 7950.

YouŽll have to pull a good oc on 4X7950 with about 250W each one, plus 150 watts of mobo and HD

The real thing is about 2-2.5 khash/w

In this moment, youŽll have to invest in hardware and electrity every month (it depends on the $/KWH of your country, but likely too expansive for mining) . We are too many mining, we need people developing services for the Alts, not miners.

1150W and 2.6MH/s, with a pessimistic 1.2K difficulty gives $115 per month, making the break-even point about 1 year.

For services: Agree totally. Many of the current altcoins are created because they have interesting new proof-of-work algorithm, or just for the sake of creating a new coin, but few take into account the need for services.
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Pool Question on: October 20, 2013, 02:41:57 PM
... I get around 20kh/s between 2 CPU's when mining FeatherCoin. I am mining on MultiPool currently.

With CPUs, you're not going to get much. Mine some CPU coins (or at least some where GPUs aren't at much advantage over CPUs). Or you could try collecting coins that are not on exchanges yet, in the hope that they will be added in the future.

Just curious, the CPU power works out to be 10KH/s... you are mining on a laptop? Mine gets 16KH/s (i5-3337U), and desktop CPUs can get about 30~40.

144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Offerings to Cthulhu - Now Worshipping. on: October 20, 2013, 12:40:50 PM
A day ago I started up my wallet to try and make more offerings. Imagine my horror when I found that most of my offerings were missing - only six of them left. Desparate to find them back, I tried to rescan... "Wallet corrupted."

 Cry Cry Cry

All in all, I lost 41 offerings. I am working hard to repay this.

If you would like to help me, I will give your offerings to the Dark Lord at QcADLJivXrNw3zbayNesZgxpGqLNNoaYfs.

Seconded the use of scrypt.

Also, if we create another new coin it should not be SHA-256. Minting these coins is something all should be able to do, not just those with ASICs.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm offering some offerings to offer people some free offerings. (OPEN) on: October 18, 2013, 05:08:08 PM
Yesterday, opened client and found that I had lost quite a number of blocks (all except 2), did a rescan and found I had nothing left

I wonder if we could try out a system similar to proof-of-burn here. Basically, you prove that in the old blockchain you sent coins (from an address you own) to an unspendable address (and that that event actually occurred), and that gives you new coins.

I'm not sure how feasible that would be, though. You would need to get a full record of unspent txouts, as well as give people time. A complete cross-reference would also be advised.

The superblock idea, though, looks good - mine a few superblocks corresponding to the entire KED supply and send it to the addresses containing KED.

Question about PoS: Is there a way to make PoS consume multiple txouts, or is it only possible to stake one at a time?

KED getwork gives the following... Can anyone decipher it?

Disagree with SHA coin. Assuming our intention is to make this marketable to Star Trek fans, we should not require specialised equipment to mine it.

After looking at above link, and poking around a bit:

81660 was the last POW Block accepted into the network.

81661 was the FIRST POS BLOCK GENERATED ON THE BLOCK CHAIN (I am almost positive, I have not seen a POS block before 81661)

No - I mined PoS blocks 75306, 75170 and 73945. All zero reward. (for some reason min PoS reward is set rather high, I think it should be set to a lower value say 0.0001)

Also, what's the maturity time for stake? Is it 30 days? (I hope not... I just sent my entire 189 KED to myself for stake generation)
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 10,000 YACoin Bounty on: October 18, 2013, 12:37:57 AM
ybcminer --scrypt --benchmark --Nfmin x --Nfmax x

this would suffice for testing nfactor x

Switch intensities within ybcminer interface

However this will not work for testing CPUs

What is the minimum PoS on KED? I've so far generated a few blocks, all 0.00 KED.

I take video. Now what?

Anyway, sites like JD, PD already have a client seed that you can change at will. The roll can only be determined from the secret server seed and your own seed.

I can do this. I need links for the block explorers for YAC, YBC, ZCC, GPL, ONC, CENT, CPR.

It happened today again... this time with yet another client. I typed "stop" and the whole computer BSOD'd.

More details in the OP.

Sure.

Let us part ways amicably.

158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 【ANN】【HTC】huitong coin has launched on October 12th 【new algorithm scrypt-HTC 】 on: October 13, 2013, 01:01:05 PM
(snip...)

Need a PROOF.
I am not a supporter of this coin. I just need to know mine or not to mine HTC-coin. And what you say - absolutely nothing to prove. By the way, your post without proof strongly suggests that you mine this coin youself, and just troll other people. I apologize if this is not the case, but need proof.

Sorry if I came off as a troll.

See PGC:

Also, KING. I did not mine this at the start, but saw that the diff was low and so wanted to collect a few.
  • https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=278834.0 was the launch of Pangucoin, which claimed scrypt-new as its algorithm, and provided a CPUminer. It launched without source, so people were naturally suspicious.
  • When version 1.1 was released, it came to light that it was scrypt-jane all along, with changed parameters (Nfmin=10, Nfmax=30, StartT=1376913600). It is entirely possible that a GPU miner had been used. Due to this, it has now been labeled a scamcoin and is near-dead.

Knowing this, how could I trust this coin which claims yet another "new" scrypt algorithm, which probably is just another scrypt-jane?
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 【ANN】【HTC】huitong coin has launched on October 12th 【new algorithm scrypt-HTC 】 on: October 13, 2013, 12:02:13 PM
scrypt-htc is  - just another scrypt-jane that is disguised as a CPU-mining algo while the creators mine on their GPUs
Just words. Proof is needed. I tried to mine HTC coin by GPU, but without success.

Please at least have the decency to quote my entire sentence, and not just cherry-pick.

For your information, the correct quote is
scrypt-htc is reminscent of scrypt-pgc (Pangu) and scrypt-new (Kingcoin) - just another scrypt-jane that is disguised as a CPU-mining algo while the creators mine on their GPUs

Because we have already two scamcoins that claimed to be new scrypt algo, but turned out to be scrypt-jane. They are Kingcoin and Pangubi. So I am hesitant to accept this coin, and let others exercise caution when trying out this kind of coins.

IIRC the Pangubi developers closed off the RPC mining port so all miners could only use CPU; however it was launched with 128 blocks already created. At a few hours after launch, the difficulty was 2^-12, but the global hashrate was in the single-digit kilohashes per second. Without a doubt PGC developers pre-mined with GPU.

I think we should have a separate topic for "bringing down" coins from BTC to LTC/XPM market... very low-value coins (GDC@33, QRK@135 as mentioned above, as well as STR@127, BQC@805, EMD@660, GLC@331, SBC@311)
