That said, California is full of Native American casinos with plenty in the LA region....with more being added all the time.  And they are springing up in Nevada as well and they are giving LV competition, as is Reno, as is online gambling.  Additionally they each have their different pro/con impact on their clientele and communities/cities/states.

And that said, the poor economic conditions driven by Obama policy is ALSO impacting all of these places whether you want to see that or not.
Didn't know about the native American casinos near LA. Thanks for that info. But as we both pointed out, Vegas is an experience - it's not JUST about a place to place a bet. And the other element - it's long established.  And yes, I already agreed that the economy probably has some effect (having been in Vegas just a couple of weeks ago, I can say it's evident there too), but I think it's hilarious that you still claim that those "poor economic conditions" were "driven by Obama".  Facts indicate otherwise.
Yes, well your idea of economic fact is very different from mine.   Whether you like it or not, I am versed in economics and can spot someone who isn't a mile away.   And neither you nor Obama is.   While he has advisors to be sure, you are not even versed enough to understand they are the same braintrust as Bush's and I didn't support his policies either.  They are both Keynesians, they only differ on how they weight choices within that framework, and by far Obama has done more long term systemic damage.

The market has been overvalued for some time; the fact that they are all singing in unison now makes me wonder if they have some inside information on the direction of Fed policy.
It's much easier to time one's bets when one has a pipeline to the source. I'm speculating here, but you have to wonder.

Meanwhile in the real world Obama continues airstrikes against ISIS militants in Iraq while Russia sends weapons to Assad which ISIS takes pictures with.

As a parent, I appreciate the media coverage this performance art is getting. Parents need to get involved in this issue. Learning about how sexual assault is handled at schools under consideration is a way to start putting pressure on the administrations. www.keephersafe.org is helping harness the purchasing power of parents to make campuses safe for women by providing guidance with a Parent Tool Kit. This kind of widely promoted action is truly helpful.

I believe that if one is "wicked".......he is dealt with in this life.  It's called karma.I do not believe that there's a judgemental "god" who sits on a throne and passes sentence on his "creations"......
So that either means you believe 'god' is ok with the wicked, or...

that 'god' does not exist.  If the latter, then, what makes someone wicked?   If there is no absolute standard, then are you saying that Hitler is wicked by one standard, not so by another, and who is anyone to judge which standard is wrong?
Shit happens - good people get hurt and bad people sometimes get a pass.  But mostly I believe that "evil" folks bring their own karma and it bites them - eventually.

Life is not fair.

As sad as it is that people are losing their jobs because of closing casinos, it's almost comical watching people who haven't got a clue blame President Obama for it.  Yes, the slow economy does have some impact. but the major reason for the Casinos failing in AC is something entirely different. I know, I know - don't bother you with the facts, right? But the REAL reason that AC Casinos are struggling is competition.  Atlantic City was never Vegas. Vegas is a world unto itself. Yes, they make huge fortunes on casino gambling, but it's more than that - it's the atmosphere and the entertainment as well. Atlantic City never captured that same kind of atmosphere of seemingly entering a different world. If you've never been to both places, it's hard to understand what I'm talking about. But the straw that broke the camel's back  - that Vegas doesn't have to concern themselves with - is nearby competition.  People fly in from all over the world to see Vegas. Atlantic City doesn't have that kind of draw, and never has. Then there's location - look at Vegas on the map. Where are the closest major cities? Los Angeles and Phoenix - both of which are at least a 6 hour drive from Vegas.  AC is an hour from Philly and an hour and a half from NYC.  When they opened up casino gambling in AC, that was actually an advantage - a draw. If you come to Philly, you can gamble in AC. Same for NY. And if you come to AC, you're that close to the history of Philly and the night life of NYC.  It was complementary.
I have and I agree.  Las Vegas is an experience...a sin city Disneyland in the middle of the dessert.   Atlantic City which I had heard about my whole life and had imagined as a place to spend a couple of fun filled days is at best lack luster.   On the historic but so-so boardwalk, the lavish casinos stick out like a sore thumb, surrounded by a beach that is just okay, an out door mall that is like every other, and a large sprawl of lower income housing.     We spent as long as it took to walk around all that, went back to the hotel, and adjusted our plans to leave the next day.  So I do think you are right in that AC, as an experience destination, just doesn't cut it.

Pathetic.

150  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Canada to send military advisers to Iraq to counter Isis on: September 05, 2014, 12:32:25 PM
With two major threats, Isis terrorism and Russian expansion, facing the world NATO seems determined to become involved. The question that has to be asked is it merely sabre-rattling or is the organization prepared to go to war? Isis would not last long against a 26 nation fighting force determined to wipe it out but it would mean going after them in Syria as well as Iraq and that could have unpredictable consequences. Stopping Russia in her tracks is far more dangerous. She may not be a super power anymore but she is a nuclear state with a still powerful military that Putin doesn't seem afraid to use. Some reports are saying Ukraine is about to ask for full NATO membership and if given that would guarantee NATO involvement.

Canada's decision to send military advisors to Iraq may be just the first of many NATO countries to do so. As well this could simply be the first step down a path that leads to a major war. We live in unpredictable and dangerous times where small decisions can have very large consequences. I have a feeling those consequences will not be long in coming. What do you think of it all?
151  Other / Politics & Society / Canada to send military advisers to Iraq to counter Isis on: September 05, 2014, 12:28:33 PM
Canada is preparing to send military advisers into Iraq to help in the fight against ISIS. As a meeting of NATO leaders convened in Britain, the organization is facing no shortage of crises and a challenge from two of its dominant partners to confront a virulent new form of Islamic extremism in the Middle East — a challenge that Canada [is]taking its own steps to address. The move is expected to be a Canadian initiative, not part of a wider NATO mission.

On Thursday, U.S. President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron called on the 28-member military alliance to deal with the emerging threat posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. They also promised to protect the tiny Baltic states from possible Russian aggression.

"We meet here at a solemn moment for our alliance and the security of our nations," Cameron said at the opening of the summit, being held on a rolling golf resort in this sea-side Welsh community. "We meet at a crucial time in the history of our alliance. The world faces many dangerous and evolving threats and it is absolutely clear that NATO is as vital to our future as it has been in our past."

152  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fed Gov't Autopsy Finds Michael Brown Not Shot in Back on: September 04, 2014, 05:52:43 PM
And, no it does not put the whole thing to rest.  You're right on that point.  But an investigation is ongoing and I'm sure we'll know more soon.  What it does put to rest is the theory that gentle giant Michael Brown was shot in the back while begging the officer to stop firing.
153  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fed Gov't Autopsy Finds Michael Brown Not Shot in Back on: September 04, 2014, 05:41:02 PM
If this is true, then the eyewitness should be charged with inciting violent riots and put behind bars. He has caused tens of millions of $$ worth of damage to various businesses in the Ferguson region. And the American public owes an apology from those xenophobes who went ballistic after the Brown shooting, such as Eric Holder and Barack Obama.
I'm trying desperately to see how this puts the whole thing to rest.  OK, so he was not shot in the back. We're still supposed to believe that after running away from the cop after being shot initially, he turned, bent way over at the waist and charged the officer, resulting in being shot twice on the top of the head?  Really? Is that what we're supposed to believe - and we're supposed to believe that in spite of the fact that two other witnesses besides Browns companion corroborated his story?
First, we don't know that he was shot initially before turning to charge the officer.  For all we know, all shots that struck Brown were fired after he charged, if that is indeed what happened.  Secondly, why act as if people never act irrationally like what you described above?  You think nobody has ever charged at a cop before, even knowing cops are armed.  C'mon.
154  Economy / Economics / Re: Economics Discussion on: September 04, 2014, 04:37:57 PM
The most wonderful economic element is that there is NO FREE lunch! Those who receive 'handouts' become far to weak to survive on their own, and are therefore cast aside by their culture.

Still, while these Fiends hold political power they do erode our Middle Class by driving our Employers to other nations and they have done this with focused passion. This forced Middle Class Individuals whose jobs have been erased to consume their kids' education savings, and their own Retirement plans as they fought to survive.
Let me help you.  The "will to succeed" is born of freedom. The liberal statists have substituted dependency on government for individual freedom.  We are no longer FREE to succeed. Just try to start a free enterprise in this country today. Without some sort of government intervention or guarantee, (affirmative action?) it is damn near impossible, and in any event, not worth the trouble, because government is going to step in, tell you "you didn't build that" and take it.
155  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fed Gov't Autopsy Finds Michael Brown Not Shot in Back on: September 04, 2014, 04:22:14 PM
Wasn't it Holder who, after the Zimmerman jury handed him his ass, went nationwide with the same civil rights bullshit as he is now doing in Ferguson?

Know what I think?  I think Ferguson ought to be entirely dealt with by blacks, since they are the majority population.  Let the entire fire and police department, and all levels of local government be black controlled.  If they can't find enough people who are actually qualified, do it by damned lottery, because, you know, it's only fair.

Let them sink or swim by their own hands.

Personally, I no longer care.

The other expert who claimed to be a doctor but wasn't is the one that suggested it was possible that one arm wound could have come from behind if MB turned suddenly to face DW. If you watch the presser it seems an unlikely scenario based on Badens response and if you listen to the audio the fbi has of the gunshots that scenario seems even more unlikely. None of the wounds to his arm would have caused him to drop or stagger but the wound to the forehead would and it was immediately followed by the final shot thru the head.
157  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What Happened to All The Money You Donated to Officer Wilson? on: September 04, 2014, 02:47:26 PM
Dr Baden's post-mortem examination found Brown was shot a total of six times, with four bullet wounds in his right arm and two in his head.

The final shot appears to have entered Brown's head at the top of the skull suggesting his head was bowed down at the time.

'This one here looks like his head was bent downward,' he said of the wound at the top of Brown's skull. 'It can be because he’s giving up, or because he’s charging forward at the officer.'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2727568/Autopsy-reveals-Michael-Brown-shot-SIX-times-confrontation-police-officer.html

What concerns me about this conversation, is that it's been had, with quote supplied, many times already.

To further add to the facts that Baden supplied, his scenario to explain the wound to the lower arm was that his arm was up and across his forehead and the bullet that entered the arm exited into the forehead, then exited from the chin and entered the body again. He never suggested that wound or any other wound came while MB had his arms out and hands up in the surrender position.

Does theft now carry the death penalty in the US?

I believe that in the US, you are allowed to defend yourself with a weapon, if you are robbed or attacked during a home invasion. The same case here. Michael Brown tried to attack a police officer, who received serious facial injuries as a result of the attack. The officer had the right to defend himself against the attacker, and he did just that.
Seriously, IF Brown had a juvenile record that included violent crime, and IF his parents and others that might have known about it held him out as though he did not, it is reprehensible.  I know all parents love their children, but IF they allowed all the violence and destruction to continue without comment, that is just an awful reflection on them and on their community, and smacks of racism.

Missouri Court Further Clarifies: No Arrest Record for Michael Brown, Juvenile Records Remain Sealed
http://www.ijreview.com/2014/09/174157-missouri-court-clarifies-arrest-record-michael-brown-juvenile-records-remain-sealed/
Following up on a breaking news story last week regarding a lawsuit filed by journalist Charles C. Johnson to release any possible juvenile arrest records of Ferguson shooting victim Michael Brown, NBC News reports that there are no adult convictions or serious juvenile convictions for Brown:

A Missouri court official said Wednesday that Ferguson police-shooting victim Michael Brown was never convicted of a serious A-level or B-level felony as a juvenile and was not facing any charges at the time of his death, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Wednesday. It’s unknown if he was ever charged with any lesser offenses.

The newspaper is one of two media outlets that went to court to force the release of any juvenile criminal records that might exist for the 18-year-old killed Aug. 9 by a police officer. The court has not decided whether to release the full record, but the official did give a few details during the hearing.

The left, of course, would rather talk about Ferguson, Michael Brown, and Darren Wilson, and ignore Obama's fecklessness. We don't send American troops back into that cesspool.  Obama pulled them out and gave up all the ground they had gained, now we do NOT ask them to go back and die some more for the same real estate and the same raghead assholes.

No one is asking the United States to intervene directly in Iraq. But I can't understand why they are not helping the Peshmerga. The Kurdish fighters are armed only with light weapons and they are finding it increasingly difficult to take on the ISIS. But off course, there is the strong pressure from Turkey against arming the Kurds.
Time to end this once and for all.   If Obama doesn't do something, it's going to get very ugly over here, when ISIS shows up and starts hitting soft targets.  Americans will not take it.
Instead of reacting with no knowledge you might just try and learn about what the problems in the Middle east are.  You show you have no idea,  What is Saudi doing right now and how does that effect what we do.  How do we handle Syria if we kill off Isis who is also fighting Assad.  What are the rest of the powers doing and how will that all effect what we do.  So without that type of Knowledge that you don't have it might be wiser to take time and learn instead of showing how much information you don't have.

The real problem is that the righties just look and see how they can make Obama look bad and don't really give a damn about how it will effect the US and the people in the middle east.
