141  Economy / Services / Re: Coinbase - Solid or not? on: December 17, 2013, 03:29:33 AM
Coinbase is pretty fair. Their support isn't the BEST, but they do solve your issues in a decently-timed manner. One of the better options if you just need to buy bitcoins in the US.

No they dont. I am going on two weeks since my purchase. I have been trying to sell since Sat and now Im just watching my investment diminish. Because of their crappy service, I will continue to lose money.

Cryptsy, which is somewhat shady service, responded to my email in less than 4 hours, and then did a follow up.

I posted here saying Coinbase has been good for me last week. They are fine until you have an issue. I REALLY want to use them since they are within blocks of my house. I am now using exchanges in shady countries because they are more responsive and I know they will at least try to help if something goes wrong. There is nothing worse than ZERO communication.

I'm done bitching. Good luck out there.
142  Economy / Speculation / Re: lol @ "buying and holding is the best strategy" on: December 17, 2013, 02:21:32 AM
Its a different animal now. Many people just learned about bitcoin. No way its going to drop 94% in the next year. 2014 is going to be an interesting year as there are many people jumping in on the game. New currencies take time to develop and gain traction. Nothing is even close to bitcoin now, its been getting major publicity worldwide. Pretty much everyone has heard of it as this point. Whether they know what it is or not. It will get back up there pretty fast after it falls. Someone just bought a 7m dollar house in Vegas with bitcoin. Its being used...

143  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reason for Today's Crash: China Bans Bitcoin Payment Processors on: December 16, 2013, 11:46:25 PM
One thing people are discussing on here is the validity of the China news today. It seems likely that it is a false report. Everyone is panicking from the news of one reporter, who is interpreting one source.
144  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this Good Stategy? on: December 16, 2013, 10:18:40 PM

So I see it going to $400-$450 especially this wk because of Christams next wk and ppl not buying and/or selling for extra holliday cash.

So your looking at about a 500 difference between where you ought and where you may buy again. It you sell now (around 700) your not really gaining that much. If I was in your shoes, I would hold it out unless I was expecting it to go lower than 350. You would not be gaining that much in profit, if all your predictions are true and you have exchange lag time, etc.

Also, I  have no idea what Im talking about. So take that for what its worth.
145  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's time to buy, not to sell on: December 16, 2013, 09:23:38 PM
Oh Yeah !!!

Buying cheap coin Smiley

woot woot Cheesy

Sold some arround 900-1000

Buying back.. I may almost double my trading stack Smiley

Quite nice !

I've been trying to sell since Sat but I cant cause coinbase never gave me the btc I purchased, after confirming my bank account payment, and the engineers are "looking into it".

I'd wait til 500.
146  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's happening in bitcoin today? on: December 16, 2013, 08:44:12 PM
I'm predicting it will drop to 3-400 then shoot up to 6-700 then fall to 4-500 by the end of the year. Im completely pulling this prediction out of my ass. My ass has been right before though mind you.
147  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fast drop to 800 on: December 16, 2013, 08:39:43 PM
I bought in at 750, was very tempted to sell at 1200, but had a false prediction that it would get to 1800 before correcting.

I'd sell now to buy more in a few days but coinbase fucking wont let me. They have my btc frozen for some asinine reason that Im trying to find out.
148  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bears Bunker - Official thread on: December 16, 2013, 08:33:40 PM
Shouldn't bulls start a 'bull bunker' thread, now that it's going down hard?

As for where the market is, IMO it's in the middle of wave C. The first third was a weak drop, the second third happens now,
and the third and most powerful drop (itself divided into three) should happen in another 2 - 5 days, depending on volume.

good analysis. It was hard to see a week ago. Now its all seemingly coming together like clockwork.

149  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's happening in bitcoin today? on: December 16, 2013, 08:19:01 PM
Has China killed Bitcoin?

even if China were the only country on earth, it would not have killed bitcoin. its more like a pinch.

151  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coinbase spoof site alert! on: December 16, 2013, 05:42:19 PM
Coinbase ignores all emails. They are in over their heads.
152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase Raises $25 Million From Andreessen Horowitz on: December 16, 2013, 05:33:17 PM
Coinbase is fucking the worst exchange out there. They have ZERO support. If anything goes wrong you are just fucked! They show no moves towards customer support. This money will go to more developers so they can succeed. They DO NOT CARE about providing any sort of support for lost btc or seriously delayed transactions. Or anything for that matter.

Look at the site and try to find contact information. All you will get is a faq and an email form that goes to nobody. This company only cares about being the best and is going on the business model that they will screw current customers by not hiring support, so they can hire developers for their future success.
153  Economy / Services / Re: Coinbase - Solid or not? on: December 16, 2013, 05:20:42 PM
DO NOT USE Coinbase!!!

Trust me on this. It will work fine for you and if you have any sort of issue you will be completely ignored. I am still waiting going on two weeks now to received a response from them about a coin I purchased. They completely the credit from my bank account and labeled the transaction as complete. Yet I never received my coin.

In the history it says it is pending into my coinbase account, yet the overall transaction has been switched to completed. There is a gliche in the system and they are ignoring people.

No one responds to any of my emails. There is no way to get in touch with anyone there. I am in the process of taking them to small claims court since the office is down the street from me.

Note that there is no CB job opportunity for tech support so this sort of thing will persist. Its not a small issue. All will be fine until something goes wrong, which it will eventually.
154  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: My Coinbase was just compromised on: December 15, 2013, 06:40:34 PM
Coinbase customer service is piss poor.  There simply isn't enough customer service techs or peeps (what ever you want to call them) to handle all the volume.

Ultimately if they can't pull it together for the long run they will fail.  There are a lot of smaller up and coming companies with  a similar model.

There is no support. I have been trying to get a hold of them for days and all I get is an automated response. I agree with you that if they do not get their act together adn wake up to realize that customer service is HUGE when dealing with people's money, they will quickly go out of business. They have no listing for a customer service tech support rep on their site. Seriously idiotic move.

Cryptsy got back to me within 2 hrs and followed up with the issue. I'm gaining more trust in some of the European exchanges. Nice thing about btc is that it can easily be moved anywhere, and is actually way faster on the other exchanges than it is on coinbase.
155  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcommon - BTC/USD - Technical Analysis. on: December 15, 2013, 06:25:44 PM
the trendlines are signaling a convergence and a possible upswing, if you ignore the quick sell off on the China news. especially on the 4h chart. are you seeing this with your analysis?
156  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Stay away from Coinbase on: December 15, 2013, 06:39:19 AM
I was pro coinbase until they have been ignoring my messages and mysteriously deleting proof of my bitcoin purchase from my account. I am yet to receive my btc and the money was pulled out of my bank account days ago. When I sent them an email saying to look in my buy history, as that is the only place my purcahse was listed, that Buy History was deleted later that same day!!!

If they would only get back to me or provide a phone number where I can reach them, I would be at ease. Instead I receive nothing. The deleting of my History is seriously shady and Im not sure where to go to address this issue. Lickily I printed out the screen and my bank account shows the payment made to them.
157  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: My Coinbase was just compromised on: December 15, 2013, 06:32:51 AM
Login to Coinbase, go to history and check if it says you actually bought coins with them. Something similar happened to me. In te transaction history it said I "sent" Coinbase BTC to exchange for USD, but it does not appear in history. I also have not received any money from Coinbase and never wanted to sell my BTC. Luckily for me, I only lost around $1.50 worth of BTC because I only use web wallets for convenience and I usually put all I have in my local wallet/cold storage.

Im on the same boat as the OP. I logged into coinbase and it showed I had made a purchase under buy history. I checked back later in the day and now that has been deleted! So the only proof I have is a printout of the screen and my checking account shows the money being sent to Coinbase. All week it was listed as pending until 12/14. Now there is nothing. The transaction just vanished.

I would not be posting here if Coinbase responded to my email other than an automated response. There is no way to get in contact with them.

I am warning others to be cautious. I met the guys who run Coinbase and I imagine that they would have gotten back to me if something was not seriously wrong.
158  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: My Coinbase was just compromised on: December 14, 2013, 11:41:35 PM
I believe I am dealing with the same issue. coinbase pulled the money out of my bank account and I am yet to recieve anything after a week. there used to be a pending message that suddenly disappeared and now there is nothing. I was not robbed. I never even had the btc. Coinbase just lost my btc. Now Im dealing with the extreme headache of trying to get it back.

I would steer clear from this place and use localbitcoins with a wallet on your personal pc.  At least you get the transaction completely instantly and can immediately get your btc to safety.

Using Coinbase is like running through South Central LA with a wad of cash and a shirt with a huge dollar sign on it. Kiss your money goodbye.
159  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase - it takes a week to purchase 1 BTC on: December 14, 2013, 11:24:53 PM
They do say that it will take 4-5 business days for the BTC to arrive on their website.  Also, if you hook up a credit card as a backup method to your account, you can get supposedly get the BTC right away.

They have a credit card from me, I'm still waiting after 7 days. They already pulled the money out of my checking (no delay there!). They did this in 4 days (like they say) and I am waiting for the btc to arrive in my wallet. Emailed them and received an automated return message.

Buy details says buy is 'complete'. At the bottom in history it says purchase completed on the 11th, and Coinbase account listed as 'pending'? So its a delay on there end.

I dont understand how they could take money and not give me what I paid for immediately. They were good with pulling the money out of my account! Its a total scam. So far they have lied to me and have been holding my money for three days now. What are they doing with it? We are not dealing with snail mail here.

I'm less than a half mile from the office. I'm temped to knock on the door and ask them wtf is up.
160  Economy / Service Discussion / Coinbase - it takes a week to purchase 1 BTC on: December 14, 2013, 08:28:55 PM
Is it normal for Coinbase to take a week to fund my account 1 BTC? I purchased last Sun. They already received the funds from my bank account.
