141  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Book/Website Suggestions ? on: September 23, 2021, 12:45:13 AM
My father loved to gamble, and was a big Blackjack player.  He was an incredibly smart guy, and always did his homework before ever doing anything at all.  That was no different when it came to gambling.  I remember seeing him read several Blackjack books, which was his favorite game to play.  Do you guys own any good gambling books or know of any website where you can learn skills to play certain games like Blackjack, Poker etc?

I think a few other people already mentioned this, but for Blackjack advantage play I would look at Blackjack Apprenticeship.

For poker, I watch Daniel Negreanu's youtube channel where he tends to go into quite a lot of detail for the novice player.

I don't think that it's worth buying a book or buying a training course/subscription. Most of them aren't worth your money/time.
142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: September 23, 2021, 12:18:14 AM
I saw a rumor today that the Lakers are going to be giving Monta Ellis a workout for the team. I’m not sure how old he is these days, but Monta was a killer back with the Warriors in Steph’s early days. If he can still play and is motivated to go for a championship, that could be a great pickup. Hopefully he’s still got some in the tank.

I doubt it.

There is a reason why the Warriors thrived after getting rid of Monta.

He's definitely a talent but I think that it would just be a weird mix of oldheads from a bygone era all trying to mesh in a short period of time. I think that we've seen that in the early 2010s Nets - it's probably not going to work at the end of the day.
143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fake bets on: September 22, 2021, 11:57:40 PM
xposed and the Roobet crew can definitely be classified as frauds.

I think that their behavior should be condemned but I don't think that it's necessarily their fault - it's Roobet's fault for allowing this to happen in the first place.

The overreactions and dramatizations are simply way too overdone at this point to even be entertaining for most people. They're just targeting newbies.
144  Economy / Economics / Re: Tulip Mania 2.0 on: September 22, 2021, 09:48:22 PM
There are many nocoiners that claim that Bitcoin is “Tulip Mania 2.0”, but it has been 10 years. How long must the protocol keep running before the rest of the world accepts that Bitcoin is not going anywhere. In fact, it opened a Pandora’s Box of new possbilities. BUT, I believe the next “Tulip Mania” for this bull cycle are, NFTs.

NFTs are the ICOs of this bull run.

There are simply way too many projects that can be created for virtually no cost for the current price tags on these things.

The people who have levered up to "flip" NFTs as a lifestyle will see their capital get wiped away fairly quickly when things go south in my opinion. It is truly a mania right now.
145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blockchain and Gambling on: September 22, 2021, 09:16:20 PM
Theoretically, yes.

But in reality I think that you're not going to see a lot of complicated applications of blockchain in gambling for a long while.

I do think that cryptocurrencies will be increasingly used as the medium through which people transact with centralized casinos, but I definitely don't see integrations of smart settlement contracts for wagers any time soon.

Why? Once a blockchain is ready (meaning it's fast, secured AND decentralized) I see it's implementation as proof that casino can give to it's clients that they can't and won't tamper with any transactions. I'm not saying casinos are doing that now but with the blockchain implementation clients won't have to trust casinos because everything will be publicly visible on a ledger.

Of course, it could happen when the user interface/experience is friendly enough.

But as of currently, there is no prospect of that happening in the near future.

All of the decentralized casinos are clunky to use and extremely hard to understanding for a novice who is just trying to have some fun on a Saturday night. They'd rather use something like Stake or Bitsler which is way more established.
146  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-21] U.S. to Target Crypto Ransomware Payments With Sanctions on: September 22, 2021, 01:04:32 PM
I'm not sure how to feel about this.

While the enforcement effort is certainly good on the surface to combat these activities, I think that they will increasingly be used as justification to impose stricter KYC/AML.

That is definitely not something that is good in any means for the regular consumer - more potential for hacks of personal info, as well as potential tracking from the government.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SHIB the new tough competitor to DOGE on: September 22, 2021, 12:37:34 PM
Here we go SHIB is now listed in coinbase which is absolutely a great news now the game changer Elon Musk might play a drama to make people fool in upcoming days, probabilities are high because that's what he did for doge coin too. Meme coin became a rockstar over a couple of months and I guess now it's the turn for SHIB coin, guys make use of opportunities it's a rare chance in my opinion go for it if you want to see you as a millionaire.

Never in my life would I have imagined that I would see "Shiba coin being a competitor to Doge".

The memecoin craze is getting a bit ridiculous now.

Where is the value of SHIBA? Is it because of the community/the Vitalik burn? It literally costs like $1k to set up a token on the ETH blockchain, it's not hard at all. I don't think that SHIBA will survive the long run, especially this upcoming crypto bear market when people will be grasping at any liquidity they can get.

149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Karnataka ( A state in India ) they introduced bill in assembly to ban o.gamblin on: September 21, 2021, 09:47:07 PM
https://www.google.com/amp/s/indianexpress.com/article/cities/bangalore/karnataka-government-bill-assembly-ban-online-gambling-7516048/lite/

Karnataka ( A state in India ) just introduced a bill in assembly to ban online gambling in the state which does mean that the players won't be able to use anything like that anymore. People will have maximum imprisonment UpTo 3 years or would have to pay 1 lac. Inr. Virtual currencies are also included in the same. It does not involve lottery or wagering, horse racing outside the state. For people who are addicted the punishment would increase every moment, it would start from a lower amount and lower imprisonment and increase tremendously for every next offence.

What do you think about it ?
( Players from Karnataka India, please do take a note of this and follow this news)

Are they blocking access to these sites?

How do they plan on prosecuting people who simply use a VPN to circumvent the ban, if that is the case?

Especially with a lot of gambling services changing to decentralized platforms now, I'm not positive on their ability to keep their word. The penalties are large but proving guilt is difficult.
150  Economy / Gambling / Re: betfair and excluded countries on: September 21, 2021, 09:20:46 PM
I come from a country excluded for betfair. I am irritated by betfair brokers, it's not the same. There is no worthy alternative for them. Why has no one built something similar, based e.g. on BTC? Isn't it a profitable business? Is it worth it to ban an account from an allowed country? I have doubts, most of it is probably a scam, and after some time it can be blocked anyway.

It's profitable but it's incredibly hard to set up in general and to deal with all the regulations in this field.

A lot of the crypto sportsbooks (fortunejack, Stake, sportsbet, nitro) offer a lot of the markets covered by Betfair though.

Is there a particular reason why you don't want to use crypto based sportsbooks? Are you looking for fiat solutions only?
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: OpenSea admits insider trading on: September 20, 2021, 12:30:08 AM
No surprises here.

I do hope that they can get their stuff together. NFTs have some potential but at the end of the day most of the projects exchanging hands today are doing so at ridiculous valuations.

Volumes are definitely propped up by wash trading to an extent and there is bound to be lawsuits sooner or later.
152  Economy / Economics / Re: Visa reportedly aims to integrate Bitcoin payments in Brazil on: September 19, 2021, 11:46:34 PM
It's a bit ironic that they are willing to integrate BTC at this stage.

I personally believe that it's mostly for the hype value more than anything else - I highly doubt that they are actually willing to adopt decentralized blockchain technology over the long run.

Don't forget that these people are precisely what BTC aims to replace.
153  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc $100k prediction by eoy on: September 19, 2021, 11:29:10 PM
Highly doubt it.

The run up from the start of the year has been absolutely crazy and I think that we are due for a correction as a matter of time.

Institutional interest is high, yes, but even that isn't going to go on forever especially when the interest rates around the world start hiking near the end of the year as most countries exit lockdowns.
154  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do Not Sell! Don't Let The Whales Get Your Precious BTC! on: September 18, 2021, 10:43:35 PM
Great words.

I also think that you should not leave your coins on exchanges, because that provides the shorters the liquidity to take on their positions.

At the end of the day, you should be looking at bitcoin as a long term vehicle for storing your own wealth anyway and not some short term speculative asset. If you adopt that mindset you should find it quite easy to hold onto any cryptos that you've got for a long, long time.
155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bearish Bitcoin TA - Be careful everyone ... on: September 18, 2021, 09:51:01 PM
We have people who have spewed TA since the beginning with about the same accuracy at a coin flip.

Fact of the matter is that Technical Analysis is not good for long run forecasting and it certainly is not rigorous.

I personally think that we're going to consolidate around this level and not necessarily drop down much further given the institutional demand that we're seeing (MSTR for instance has been continuously buying up the stream of new coins minted).
156  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 500xBit.com - Easily Bet On Bitcoin - 500 ❌ 250 ❌ 100 ❌ 50 ❌ Insane Leverage! on: September 18, 2021, 09:08:28 PM
I like the site and the game mode!

Very original and I think that it's fast paced enough to attract gamblers.

I also like the animation side of things. However, I'm just wondering how are you able to control for periods of mass liquidations? Also the fees of 2.50% to the house seems a bit high - are they applied to the leveraged position or just the nominal bet amount?
157  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think about youtube/twitch marketing? Is it ethical? on: September 18, 2021, 04:32:32 AM
We all have seen dozen videos of streamers on twitch/youtube who play with huge amount of money and sometimes win a lot. Overall, the main idea behind these streams is that if you have huge bankroll, then you have a higher chance of win greater amounts of money. This is done in order to attract people with higher bankroll instead of low ones. While I was always saying that adult person is independent in his/her choice and if he/she does anything, it's only his fault, I still look at this marketing like a dirt trick to attract people with bankroll more than they are afford to lose.

Most of the times I have seen youtubers who were using high quality equipment, tech support, etc and had different casino themes on their video but were acting like an actors and were swearing that they were playing with their own money.

So, what do you guys think, is this kind of marketing ethical?

I think that it's completely unethical for that to be allowed without any sort of warning.

People are so easily misled and there are probably underaged viewers to these streams as well which makes it even worse.

I am certainly all for casinos promoting their services but not through these misleading means. I think that the streamers should at least be staking some of their own money as opposed to getting it all from affiliate earnings.
158  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slot vs Video Poker on: September 18, 2021, 03:57:01 AM
Modern-day gambling has increased the quest to gain more skills in playing the various gambling games, while some games require skills to play them, others are relatively simple to play and require little or no skills in playing them.
As the topic specifies slot and video poker are the most friendly and simple games to play for me but the two have some disparity which I will love us to discuss on this thread.
1 what are the similarities between slot games and video pokers?
2 between slot and video poker which is more technical and requires skills to play?
3 what are your personal experiences with both games?

First of all, video poker requires skill, slots do not.

You can maximise your chances of winning in video poker by following a strict strategy but this is not possible when it comes to slots as the outcomes are completely random.

I actually think that video poker is way too slow for my liking and I'd rather get some variance and major wins with slots. And most people tend to agree with this I feel.
159  Other / Off-topic / Re: Corruption and Sports on: September 18, 2021, 03:46:23 AM
One of the main problems is that the same people who are engaged in it are fighting corruption  Grin The result is clearly visible in our country, which was caught on the state doping system and now the entire national sport bears heavy consequences in the form of discrimination even against those athletes who were completely clean (at least they were not caught on anything).

Yeah, I think that it is definitely an issue.

The same people who are breaking the rules are enforcing the rules which is a huge issue in my opinion. The regulators are often the most corrupt people that are getting the benefits of these arrangements.

There needs to be a real effort for change from the government and not superficial rules to actually make a difference.
160  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITGAME|🔥🚀Crypto's Hottest Betting Site🔥🚀|🎁100% Bonus On 1st Deposits🎁 on: September 17, 2021, 12:46:30 AM
Welcome. Site look good.

However regarding your 100% bonus on your 1st deposit, I think that you should disclose in the OP what the wagering requirements are and make it more obvious.

People here hate untransparent bonuses that suck your money in as you try to withdraw. Also, any other rules like what games you can wager on, what the max bet size is, etc. should be listed for the bonus too.
