NXT FUNDING COMMITTEE VOTE IS NOW UNDERWAY UNTIL 12:01 AM MARCH 8 (UTC)

Per our previous poll, all three committees (NXTmarketingfund, NXTtechdevfund and NXTinfrastructure fund) will consist of five elected members.

Read candidate statements here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=479167.msg5280476#msg5280476

Background:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg5280786#msg5280786

DETAILS ON VOTING :

EVERY NXTer WITH AN ACCOUNT STARTED BEFORE FEB 21 MAY VOTE ON ALL THREE COMMITTEE BALLOTS.

If you want to vote, send me a PM with just the word VOTE in the title.  I will respond with your password and the voting site URL.  I will know who voted but I will not know who you voted for.

LIVE ONGOING VOTE RESULTS:

https://www.electionbuddy.com/elections/12343/results/t34ayqhm2

Update:  At 73 hours into the vote (I was busy an hour ago) and with 95 hours to go,  I have now distributed 355 ballot access codes so far to nominees, candidates, PM requesters, and everybody that has ever posted 10 or more times to this thread per newcn's list of most active posters (see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg5456233#msg5456233 ).

I continue to examine the profile all PM requesters (a dwindling number) and have found all to be legitimate eligible NXTers with the exception of two new accounts discussed previously.

For my current ongoing ballot code blind mailings to NXTers on newcn's "voter registration list", I am including a link to the candidate statements and a request for the recipient to read them before going to vote.  Candidates, you can always go edit your statements and polish them a little if you want.  I think they're really gonna matter.

All ballot codes are going out by PM from me.  At the conclusion of this election, I will publish a list of who got what ballot access code and whether or not they voted.  At that time I will also PM my ElectionBuddy password to all candidates so they can verify from my dashboard there that I did not sneak in extra votes on my own to influence the results.  Trust no one.

NXT VOTER REGISTRATION LIST:

Considering that I'm just winging it here, things are going pretty well.  Here are the list of people that I consider eligible voters.  This list is in three blocks of names, and each block is roughly in the order these people are found in newcn's list of top 500 posters to this thread.  Direct requesters by PM are listed at the back of the first two blocks.  The first block of names (139 total) have voted.  The second block of names (215 total) includes everybody that has posted 10 or more times in this thread, and everybody in this block has an unused ballot code sitting in their PM inbox.  The third block of names (144 total) have posted between 9-5 posts to this thread and are people I would like to send ballot codes to but may not be able to because I am going to Austin tomorrow.  We may have to call the election with just the people in the first two blocks if I can't get more ballots out.  I think is OK if it happens that way because a cutoff of 10 or more posts to this thread is a reasonable selection criteria.   IF YOU ARE IN THE THIRD BLOCK OF PEOPLE HERE AND WANT TO VOTE, PM ME AND I ***WILL*** SEND YOU A BALLOT CODE.

This list by my tabulation has 139+215+144 = 498 people on it and we have 500 total ballots available to distribute to eligible voters.  This leaves me with 2 extra ballots for PM requests from people not on this list.

Let's just release one of our great product like Lophie is saying.

A nice launch website or something. We have to get back on the spotlights.

I love countdowns  Tongue

Please don't do it like the source code with 3 sentences. We have to do it much better than this.

Update:  At 48 hours into the vote I have distributed 200 ballot access codes so far to nominees, candidates, PM requestors, and high-posting members of this thread from newcn's list of most active posters (see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg5456233#msg5456233 ).  I hope to have PMed out the additional ballot codes by 72 hours into the vote that will result in all posters with 10 or more posts in this thread having a ballot access code.  That's about 350 ballots that will have been distributed.  Beyond that, we'll see.  Here comes Austin.

I have vetted all PM requesters and have found all to be legitimate eligible NXTers with two exceptions: NXT-LILY and GT-R.  These two NXTers have created their accounts since the election was announced and so I will not be sending them ballot codes.  (See, I am checking.  Sorry, you two).   I have no pending PM requests for ballot access codes at this time.  I have received no unique requests to vote from nextcoin.org or nxtcrypto.org, only one that was also posted here on bitcointalk as well.

For my current ongoing ballot code blind mailings to NXTers on newcn's "voter registration list", I am including a link to the candidate statements and a request for the recipient to read them before going to vote.  Candidates, you can always go edit your statements and polish them a little if you want.  I think they're really gonna matter.

- build a great gateway á la james
- work hard on AT and atomic cross chain transactions

Without a doubt if we can achieve atomic cross-chain txs then we will have basically got rid of the business model for all exchanges that don't do fiat.

IMO "this is our job".

The future will not be centralised!

So could some stakeholders put the biggest chunk of bounty in history of mankind out there for atomic cross chain transaction on nxt please? During this time (this will take a while?!) we should have the best community driven gateway possible, which james is currently building.

+ to da moon

The deeper into the future I get, the more scared I get.

This is a real good example of why.

i find it hard to believe that i only posted in this thread 83 times

83 is two month ago, now it is 527!
How hard would it be to bump this from 100 people to 300 or even 500 people?  I am looking for involved NXTers to send these ballot codes to...
the list is actually 1018 lines long, I cut it to only 100, the following is top500:

newcn, thank you so much for this list.  I think this is effectively a voter registration list for the current ongoing funding committee votes.  My intention is to get a ballot code to most of the people on this list.  If they cared enough to follow this thread and make multiple posts, they deserve a ballot.

thnx wesleyh...  we need at least one of us to keep it together!!!    Cheesy

Nice execution rickyjames! Thanks for taking the time to organize this in such a professional way.

Hey, thank you.  This is important.

So far I have sent out 64 ballot access codes and I have had requests for 16 more who I don't recognize but that I am going to examine for their association with NXT via their posting history.  So if you're in that group, be patient, I'll get to you.  This is just more tedious than I thought and I need a break.

There's a lot of voting websites out there that are pretty crappy once you get into them and try to set something up.  Electionbuddy was actually the third one I tried.  I bought 500 ballot codes.  We stop the election at 500 votes (if we get that many).

I am gonna try to get these codes out to as many people as possible.  I have some ideas, but right now I need some caffeine and a shower.

NXT FUNDING COMMITTEE VOTE IS NOW UNDERWAY UNTIL 12:15 AM MARCH 8 (UTC)

Does that mean that votes are limited to nominees and candidates by default ? just wondering.

Everybody gets to vote.  I have edited my original post to clarify.

I had hoped to have this better organized at this point, but I've had a bad week.  Sorry.

Hey, guys, if you would, please edit your quote of my vote post so only the corrected original one shows up in the thread here.  Thx.

Thanks rickyjames for putting in the work. I think your reputation is impeccable but imho there may be an issue with voting setup this way as you are the only one who know who votes and by exclusion who does not vote. This may turn out well because people trust you but let's consider this case. If in a certain committee, the fifth voted candidate is only one or two votes above the sixth voted candidate, then sixth candidate should have the right to question you about what criterion you use to decide if an user who asked you for voting can get the right to vote (password+username in this case). It could get even worse if the sixth voted candidate is someone supposed to get in by the public while fifth voted candidate is not.
"Everybody gets to vote" is probably not a well-thought proposition because that means you are giving the votes to new users, as well as Emule if he wants so. So I guess you will use some kind of criterion which imo should be well-defined ASAP.

To be honest, I prefer the open voting style with some activity criterion used back then when we voted for NXT logo. Since the way it is set up now will leave quite a few question marks on the shoulder of the voting organizer. It could work given Rickyhames impeccable reputation but I would rather avoid this type of precedent.

Well, I do have criteria in my mind which should be stated up front.  I do not intend to send a code to anybody who established an account after we started this election process a week ago, and if I don't recognize a familiar name, I intend to check.

As for Emule....why should he not vote?  He is a PITA.  So what?

Lurkers - they should get to vote too, I think.  Lurking is not a crime.

Hopefully this will all turn out OK, with the community overwhelming any outliers as they should.  We'll see.

I agree the possibility exists that some kind of sticky situation coming up at the end.  It is my intention to publish at the end everybody's name who voted and their assigned ID/password.   I am the first filter as an caring individual to make sure that there is no manipulation.  I want to give out as much info at the end so the group as a whole can make that determination too as a second filter.

As far as your worst case scenario, that a sixth person overwhelms a fifth that "should" have won - I don't really see how that can happen or how anybody would know it had happened.  What I worry about is a runoff to break a tie.

All I can say is let's go forward and see what DOES happen.  I've got some codes to mail out....

NXT FUNDING COMMITTEE VOTE IS NOW UNDERWAY UNTIL 12:01 AM MARCH 8 (UTC)

Does that mean that votes are limited to nominees and candidates by default ? just wondering.

Everybody gets to vote.  I have edited my original post to clarify.

I had hoped to have this better organized at this point, but I've had a bad week.  Sorry.

Hey, guys, if you would, please edit your quote of my vote post so only the corrected original one shows up in the thread here.  Thx.

DETAILS ON VOTING :

Per our previous poll, all committees will consist of five elected members.

I am setting this vote up on a special voting website to avoid sock puppets.  To vote, you are going to need a password which will allow you to vote on ALL THREE committee ballots.

EVERYBODY WITH AN ACCOUNT STARTED BEFORE FEB 21 GETS TO VOTE.

I will send this password to all nominees and candidates via PM in the next 24 hours without any further action needed on their part.

If you want to vote, send me a PM with just the word VOTE in the title.  I will respond with your password and the voting site URL.  I will know who voted but I will not know who you voted for.

THIS THREAD IS NOW CONSIDERED CLOSED.  ANYTHING POSTED AFTER THIS POINT WAS POSTED DURING THE OPEN VOTING PERIOD.  NO CANDIDATES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS POST.

Secondleo, technically you announced your candidacy in the one-hour dead zone that I intended to exist before voting.  However, this was an arbitrary decision on my part and mainly for my convenience.  Therefore, I am going to put you on the ballot and you are a now valid candidate.  Good luck.
