Why do you guys decide to use the blockchain? I don't understand.

That's a lot of funding. And an interesting project I plan to look into further.
143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Is Really A Good Investment or Not? on: March 06, 2018, 08:05:04 PM
ICOs can be good investments and they can also be horrible investments. Just do some actually research on the thing you are potentially investing in. They can talk all day about what they are "going" to do. But you have to look at their plans, roadmap and team. You have to see if they are capable and if the goals they are setting are realistic and could actually sell. Be smart, do research. You can find amazing projects and you can find literal junk and scams. Be careful but also know, with great risk there is potential for great reward.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes an altcoin valueable? on: March 06, 2018, 08:02:30 PM
A promising project with a solid team. The development goals should also be realistic. You can tell if a team is selling lies and fantasy pretty easily. If they are, the coin is not going to be valuable.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]True Reply True Coin: the Future is Voice join now and earns daily interest on: March 06, 2018, 07:53:46 PM
Our main goal is to impact the world and create a platform of understanding.

Today, we help companies and organizations understand their communities and audience better through the use of automated, voice-based surveys via telephone and/or Amazon Alexa-powered devices. That understanding comes from making the audio-recorded responses to the surveys completely accessible, searchable, and actionable.

This first step by us impacts the community at large because every survey deployed via Amazon Alexa is done so as an incentivized survey. So if you participate and take a survey via your amazon alexa, you earn money. That money you earn can be cashed out to PayPal OR crypto via TrueCoin. Check out the TrueCoin Economy article we published https://medium.com/@truereply/understanding-the-truecoin-economy-2c8209f2f9a8

Tomorrow, we want to help all companies build a better understanding into their AI, robotics, and home automation systems. Our vision, the Empathy Algorithm, is to allow siri, alexa, and your tesla to understand WHY you say things not just WHAT you're saying or asking for. It's an important difference that is required if you ever want to reach the stage where robots are helping us throughout your home or robots in business.

I know this sounds far fetched, but its not. It's not if but when. And when robots hit our homes at scale, the Empathy Algorithm will fill the simple piece of letting the robots understand your emotion and state of mind.

In short, our audience - the users of True Reply and the True Reply platform - is pretty far reaching; both with what we have today and definitely with what we are building for the world of tomorrow.

Thanks for your reply. That clears up a lot and really helps me understand the purpose and need for True Reply. I think this project could be very valuable because I think many businesses could benefit from analytics provided by the surveys. I also believe participants will enjoy making some profit which will make them want to engage in the surveys. I know if I could just get paid from talking to Alexa and answering questions, I'd do it. I like that you guys have a large audience too. Does your team have any major partners right now?
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] Xtrade.io - Bringing Mature Financial Technologies to Cryptocurrency on: March 06, 2018, 07:48:29 PM
Is there anymore news about the XTRD rebrand and recent partnerships and developments? I have been following social media and Reddit and have not seen a lot. Just wondering if anyone else has another good outlet and anymore news on it.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CellBlocks - Creating an Economy for Inmates in the Prison System on: March 06, 2018, 07:46:09 PM
I am asking myself what kind of economy does exist in prisons other than illegal financial activity? Not that I can't think of anything, but I just haven't been in prison yet. What's your system going to provide in detail to those being in prison? At first glance I thought you want to help them to trade back and forth without the administration being able to take notice.

I really like the "I just haven't been in prison yet" comment.  Grin Honestly though, I think you have good questions and I'm curious to know the answers.
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 😈😈😈[ANN][AIRDROP] The Odin Report - One Coin to Rule Them all 😈😈 on: March 06, 2018, 07:29:48 PM
This is a really cool idea for a project. One thing I am not quite understanding is how the reports work. How will they be created and by who?

Not to diminish them, but the reports are "no more" than newsletters. They are issued bi-weekly (every other week) on Monday, at noon EST. They are written by us, and they detail our current analysis of our top coin choice for that report. We want to make it clear that we're not giving out investment advice; rather, just our own personal beliefs. The reports will include TA and FA about each coin, with accompanying rationale.

Oh, I see. That's helpful. It could ultimately save people a lot of time in research and analysis while also keeping them up to date on coins. How much later do last reports go out after the first report? For example, how much later will the report go out for silver members?
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Be careful on: March 06, 2018, 04:58:04 PM
Thank you for the info. I think people are just so dumb for blindly investing in just anything, hoping they are going to make so much money from it. It is easy to put money into something, and not so easy to actually do a little reading. Honestly, there are some great projects out there and I hate seeing these scams negatively impact all ICOs when it's only a subset of them that are scams.
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what makes you trust a new altcoin? on: March 06, 2018, 04:55:59 PM
The project has to actually look like it is needed (solves a problem) and the goals on the roadmap actually look obtainable in the provided time frame. I look to make sure the team isn't like "we need 18 months to create this mobile and web app and 100,000 BTC to do it." lol I also look to make sure the team looks legit and skilled and the project looks valuable.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FRIENDZ ICO: decentralized peer to peer marketing on: March 06, 2018, 04:49:16 PM
This project is really interesting. I'm wondering about the allocation of tokens. What percentage of Friendz tokens are sold during the pre-sale and ICO?
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin to buy? on: March 06, 2018, 04:46:24 PM
If you are looking for a good coin to invest in, I recommend doing some reading about PinkDate. It’s an upcoming ICO that starts in less than a week. They are building an app that brings together escorts and clients and provides a nice UI for users as well as security with payment in crypto. It’s a promising project and they have really practical goals. They also have bonuses. See for yourself: https://pinkdate.is

I asked this earlier, and I think I better understand the project. However, I am still wondering what is the main goal of True Reply and what audience are you targeting with this project?
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CellBlocks - Creating an Economy for Inmates in the Prison System on: March 06, 2018, 04:39:01 PM
i dont think government and prisons will be approve this. This cant be used in real world i think. good for traders some time  Grin but they have good team and good vision if this can success it will be up. but transactions are untraceable prisoners can be use this for illegal works.

I think you drastically underestimate the need for something like this in prisons. You should look into it. I am typically pessimistic about overly ambitious projects, but I truly do think Cellblocks could get adopted in prisons. Especially since they are taking appropriate action to try to get prisons in on this. It also appears that the prisons are very interested as well.

You are correct.  Remember the state prison system is broke, this is nothing new.  Prisons are not a for profit business.   Anything that can help them save serious money, they will be open to.

I think some people just don't quite understand how the prison financial system works and they don't realize how powerful something like this could be. I think it has the potential to earn a lot of money for prisons, while still being cheaper for family members. It's a win for everyone which is why I think it's attracting so much interest.

156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: PITCH- The Only Place Where Entrepreneurs & Startups Can PItch Investors Live on: March 06, 2018, 04:30:21 PM
Will users be able to earn Pitch tokens on the platform? Or will they need to buy them from an exchange?

Yes, we will have something called information mining which will allow regular people to “mine” (contribute) information about the ICO’s and token sales PITCHing on out platform for “rewards” via based token compensation. This is in order to help eliminate the issues with illegitimate and unethical companies with no value that are launching on the blockchain.

As of now you can purchase tokens directly from us. We have initiated discussions with several exchanges, but do not have a timeline for this yet. Of course, since PITCH is an ERC-20 token, we expect that many decentralized exchanges will support trading of PITCH, although, again, we make no claims to that effect.

That seems like a really good plan. I like that you have a plan to compensate users who are contributing to the system so they can keep earning tokens. That's really smart and I also don't think there would be any issues getting your token on exchanges either.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Deco.Network | Software licenses on the blockchain on: March 06, 2018, 04:27:13 PM
I heard about dual-licensing, but I couldn't find anything in the whitepaper. Can you explain how the dual-licensing works from a legal perspective?
Yeah, I am not only curious how it works from a legal perspective, but also what is it the dual-licensing itself?

Edit: We have a great blog post about this on our blog, but I also answered below.  Check out the blog for more info: https://hackernoon.com/how-to-get-paid-for-open-source-6e13bb238a7f

Great questions!

Dual Licensing is where a project is developed under one main license, but also sells the ability to license the code using an alternative license.

This usually plays out where an open source project is developed using the GNU General Public License (aka the GPL).  The GPL is a "copyleft" or "viral" license, which means that all other projects that utilize or depend on that open source project must also be released under the GPL.  The GPL also stipulates that the source code for all components of a project must be available.  This is really cool for project creators, because they can put their work out into the world for anyone to use for free with the condition that if anyone builds upon it, they must also contribute those changes back to the community by releasing the source of their software.  For example, the most famous open source project, Linux, is licensed under the GPL, and this has facilitated collaboration that has culminated in Linux powering most servers and mobile phones on earth.

This means that, for example, Microsoft can't use any code released under the GPL in Windows because they would have to release Windows under the GPL and make all the source code for Windows available, which they don't want to do.  For this reason, many companies forbid the use of GPL licensed components in their own software, because they wish to keep their source closed.

This is where dual licensing comes in.  Even though your code is primarily released under the GPL, you can sell a proprietary license that does not have the copyleft / viral restrictions of the GPL and does not require the buyer to release their own code under the GPL, so the buyer can keep their source closed.  This is also called "selling an exception to the GPL" and you can read some of Richard Stallman's (creator of the GPL) writing on this topic here: https://www.fsf.org/blogs/rms/selling-exceptions

Our system lets you sell that proprietary license on the blockchain for ETH.  So now, anyone can get paid for their code just by listing their project for sale in our smart contract.  The license sale is logged immutably to the ethereum blockchain so you can always prove that you bought a legit license.

Thanks!

P.S. I am Chris Cassano, co-founder of Deco.Network and I'll be here from time to time, but cryptoreadyplay is also helping Deco.Network with community relations, and is an official representative for us here.

That's a very good explanation. Thanks for the link to your blog post as well. I appreciate your reply.

159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRE-SALE LIVE] DarcMatter Coin (DMC) - The Global Finance Revolution on: March 05, 2018, 03:50:25 PM
I was interested to see that DMC is on the NEM blockchain and not ETH. Why did you guys choose this and what advantages does it have?

We decided to go with NEM vs. ERC20 for a few reasons:
1. The core technology and inception for NEM was specifically created for the more robust financial use case as in the situation with DarcMatter
2. The ease of use with developers and ability to modify the solution we believe to be much better than other blockchains in the market today
3. The ease of a blended public and private use case also drew us as well.
4. PoI (Proof of Importance) is something that is very important to us and we have our own custom modifications to what's important for the network.

In general:
NEM has a very strong team of developers and a great vision which was driven around the development of the underlying technology and its efficient use. There has been significant work that has been put into making the NEM blockchain accessible and modifiable in a much more scalable fashion than others including Ethereum. While the technology is very well designed for platform building for secure transactions such as alternative investments, it also utilizes significantly less power in its harvesting process as opposed to high energy use from mining of other cryptocurrencies; all of which create positive benefits for DMC and DarcMatter.

After that explanation, it does sound like the NEM blockchain was a good choice for DarcMatter. I'm glad to see it is more scalable and modifiable. It is also a huge plus that NEM more robust for financial use cases. Thanks for your help.
