There is clearly an urgent need for an exchange atm, but i am not sure about rushing into this small exchanges, just for security reasons.
With so many new or unknown exchanges out there we expose the risk of a hack or simply the exchange to close down and we will loose a bunch of coins.
Perhaps we should concentrate in Bittrex until Mintpal is back up and running, hoping there is no loss in faircoins @Mintpal.
Also i think we need just one exchange, that will give us better control on the value.

Agreed that we should take security reasons into consideration. So I really want to recommend to focus on Bittrex (or Cryptsy) for that matter - especially for the funding! I feel that those (together with MintPal when they have put their machinery together again and fix this mess) are the exchanges that should be capable to handle the volume that FairCoin will cause. The more exchanges the better even if they're new and small exchanges. As it helps to decentralise the trading of Faircoin and adds much needed redundancy to the likes of the current MintPal problem.
I too don't see too much harm in small exchanges adding FairCoin to their portfolio. It's a free market and buyers should pay attention where they stash their money (preferably not in an exchange...). Looking at the future, I wonder what the role of exchanges will be. Eventually more and more FairCoin will leave the exchanges. The upcoming Android app is yet another example of that. |

Hi, I'm happy to announce that the first public beta phase of the brand new FairCoin Android Wallet will be starting shortly. Every tester will receive the amount of 10 FAIR which he will then send to a given donation address within one week. After that week we sum up the amount of the actual returned coins and calculate the fairness index out of it. Hope it will be 100%. I would be also able to donate 0.2 BTC to impulse the entering in a major altcoin exchange or several minor ones, if necessary.
I hope more people do the same and we impulse faircoin in this little deaceleration moment (at least in trading matters).

I've got some fairs on my old wallet (v0.9.0.1-gdf9d55a-beta) can I send them to an exchange without losing them? Thanks in advance
If for some reason your account balance doesn't add up, my previous post might help you out: For anyone still using the old wallet (for example you were on vacation and your server has been happily minting ever after), you are syncing and minting on the wrong chain. - Backup your wallet.dat file (default for windows: from C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\FairCoin) - Download and install the latest wallet from http://fair-coin.org/#wallet- Make sure the wallet is no longer running - Delete all files except the wallet.dat from the directory mentioned above - Change to your FairCoin homedir (on windows C:\Program Files\FairCoin and start a cmd prompt there. If you are using Explorer, once changed to that dir, simply type cmd in the location bar) - Run FairCoin-qt.exe -rescan - Wait for the blockchain to sync - Go to Help --> Debug Window --> Console - Type repairwallet at the prompt |
