Hows everyone doing with their bets on the Karma world cup?
Generally I do not gamble but I participated in this event because i thought it would be good to give some coins back to the community and help a good cause.
It looks like the south and central american countries are going strong. I did place some bets on them too because I thought they would have the advantage of being used to the climate.

it's hard to believe how the wonderful coin and project are stil being ignored by the masses.
Most people consider coins with LTC only markets to be garbage or aren't ready to pay the trade fee twice. On the other side, you can still buy large amounts of KARMA for little money. Currently, there are 259.302.962 KARMA available @ Cryptsy and 696.168.776 @ Mintpal, so almost a billion coin, for up to 300 litoshi. To get there would require 2747 LTC or approx. 44 BTC, which is nothing taking into consideration that you would own almost 2% of all coins.
Each Karma will be worth 300 litoshi in a matter of days. But I think that in the meantime we would all be much more productive if we did not talked so much about the price (it will go up and up and up!) and did more work (think about ideas for new IPCOs, help karma team with anything you can help, etc) to make the value (not only the price, but also including the price) skyrocket in the long term. Me and my company have a few ideas in connection with Karma but we cannot release them to the public yet Welcome back! Hope you are still hodling  |

Hey sorry for not reading the whole thread. How many coins will there be in total and is the 5000 nodes test money or already real one ?
600 000 000 / 1341 = 447427 coin Test coins are real and they are yours Will not the "suck" puppet removal change this amount? Maybe even a nice even 500k per stake once socks are cleaned up? |

To spend the money/power/resources to earn a few extra million Karma doesn't add up, IMHO.
You don't need 51% to do a successful attack on KGW. You only need enough nodes to confirm the transaction with enough confidence to fool the exchange, correct? |

I would like to hear what Kosmost and Shaun have to say on the matter. So far there has been no official word from either of them about this here.
The announcement of this 'maybe/may not be' attack caused a significant dumping of coins while it was trending up again. That is not acceptable. The threat should have been proven beyond reasonable doubt before making a public announcement (on both here and reddit I see) and it should have been accompanied by proof for all to verify.
By all accounts it would appear that the threat had already abated before the members posted their announcement - all the more reason to privately inform Kosmost of the concern and let him handle it.
There are ways of dealing with things like this professionally, and although I'm sure the members who posted had no ill intention - it was not professional.

Mintpal had some issues, they took corrective action by upping their confirmations to 200. Cryptsy did not have any problems and confirmations required is still at 3. This action taken by mintpal was done on their own, Kosmost was notified via email concerning the situation. Personally, I do not believe this was an intentional attack as bitwho hypothesized as a possible scenario a few post back. To spend the money/power/resources to earn a few extra million Karma doesn't add up, IMHO. A double spend attack is essentially sending blocks they wrongfully mined on their own fork to an exchange. They use their own blockchain to confirm with the exchange that the Karms are good. Then eventually the real fork takes over and those blocks that were sent to the exchange become orphaned and are worthless. This is a known issue with the PoW system. Its not perfect but still is the best one out there ATM. This could have been unintentional as the pools jump from coin to coin quickly. This could have been to create a slow down at Mintpal and help another exchange. This could have been part of a master plot to bring down Karma. This could have been done to spend millions of Karma and gain LTC. All of these are possible motivations. A large pool will want to return to Karma at some point and keep mining to make money, devaluing Karma doesn't make sense. We are one of the most profitable, if not THE most profitable, coins to mine right now and have been for sometime. Could this be a sinister supporter of Cryptsy trying to move business their way? Doubt it, but possible. Is this just a weak attempt to discredit Karma in general? Perhaps, but not going to work. Maybe it was someone trying to make a quick buck and exploiting a known vulnerability of PoW. As we move up the coinmarketcap.com list, I expect we will see more of this. This is still the Wild West and there are people with vested interests competing with our baby. We need to keep all of our options open, potentially doing an algo tweak toward merged mining or other security fixes. Typical I'm a member of a forum that because of its activities is finding it harder and harder to process donations through the usual payment processors. PayPal has gone out the window.....its international so Visa/MasterCard works kind of spotty. I suggested in a post the following... Why not accept donations in crypto currencies?
Bitcoin, litecoin , doge, worldcoin or karma?
No fees and no transfer headaches.
Screw the credit card and pay transfer companies.
Everyone here is pretty computer savvy and I bet many already are
active in crypto markets.
Just setup a wallet address for each coin the site wants to accept.

No bank will assist you in retrieving your cryptocurrency if lost. There is also no help for those who have to recieve the cryptocurrency if something goes wrong at their end. So pretty much an entirely unsafe way to transfer money to some one." Bear in mind this is a group of several hundred (if not thousands) of users. This is the attitude that all crypto has to change. We are dealing with people who have no idea how useful email is back 20 years ago. We have to ignore this and drive on! |

Fact 2: If you search "karma coin" in baidu.com , you even got nothing related results . If you search : "doge coin" or " lite coin " you got many many pages related results . Fact 3 : Even there are some people in China , they buy or mine karma coin , but , they consider karmar coin is another pump and dump coin .most of them don't understand English at all , they can't understand the contents in http://www.karmashares.com/ . We all joined NEM to support a great egalitarian cause with the understanding that it was something special. That is now 100% gone. Its undeniable. We are left in the same boat as Spaincoin, Aurora, and Flappy.
Just another coin with hopefully great features.
