The one thing I hate about Bitcoin rising is fonzie inevitable come to post his shit each 2 minutes. Was so good without him while we were at bottom. What a sad fuck.

142  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're not going anywhere, until the 51% question is answered on: June 11, 2014, 03:48:01 AM
No because within 10 minutes Ghash.IO would lose at least 5% hashing power due to panic ending the 'attack'

The problem is that miners won't care about US sanctions against Russia, or about Ukrainian people hating Russians.
Miners even won't notice that some transactions are not being included into blocks.

There are a lot of threats in this kind of situation, whatever Andreas says.
And no one does anything real to prevent this centralization in the future.

The system should not rely on people's responsibility. The system should be designed to work even if everyone is too stupid to change anything on his computer.

Pretty sure you're trolling us now. Have fun with that.
143  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're not going anywhere, until the 51% question is answered on: June 11, 2014, 03:38:16 AM
Because that's not what an individual with 51% mining power could do. Educate yourself.

Will Ghash.IO be able, for example, to block all transactions from Russian IPs because of US sanctions?
Simply not include thos txs into blocks.

144  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're not going anywhere, until the 51% question is answered on: June 11, 2014, 03:34:00 AM
No, it wouldn't.

I don't see why the centralized payment system "Bitcoin" (owned by GHash inc.) wouldn't be the same as Visa.

Because that's not what an individual with 51% mining power could do. Educate yourself.

145  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're not going anywhere, until the 51% question is answered on: June 11, 2014, 03:31:25 AM
(wouldn't do major damage to the system)

The system will become the same as visa/mastercard/paypal. Isn't that a major damage?

No, it wouldn't. Stop trolling. As previously mentioned the effects wouldn't even last long.
146  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're not going anywhere, until the 51% question is answered on: June 11, 2014, 03:17:35 AM
one of the main points is Bitcoin is decentralized. Allowing one entity with a large percent of the hash rate defeats this and goes against the whole idea. I really have a hard time understanding why people dont see this as bad.

Because if you looked into the "issue" it's not very impactful (wouldn't do major damage to the system) and completely stops taking effect after miners switch pools immediately following the attack.

1W MACD bout to cross
148  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're not going anywhere, until the 51% question is answered on: June 11, 2014, 02:08:01 AM
It will stop being asked when it stops being a problem. Seriously, it can't be that hard to understand.

But it's not a problem, seriously. Stop.
149  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're not going anywhere, until the 51% question is answered on: June 11, 2014, 01:41:53 AM
The tired argument that the disincentive to the 51% attack is so great that no one would consider it... is a flawed argument that comes with the assumption that there are only rational actors on stage...

We all know that there are men who just want to watch the world burn... that 51% attack is coming, and it needs to be addressed.

You're an idiot OP
150  Economy / Speculation / Re: Something, something, something, technical analysis on: June 10, 2014, 08:57:30 PM
My analysis (short to medium term) based on nothing but a gut feeling is the current rise is a tiny bit overextended, which is perfect for an engineered smack down designed to shake out a few loose coins to be snapped up cheap, before we resume a gentle uptrend.

Long term, I think this is it for super-exponential rises followed by blowoffs.

I think the 4-5 figure target is almost inevitable in the 2-5 year timeframe, but I think the route by which we get there is going to be very different to what people are used to and fraught with peril.

Forgive me for the lack of chart to back up my rambling Wink

Your rambling is unsubstantiated. There has yet to be a break in the overall trend line. We're going up:

Expect a couple weeks of this stability.
151  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: 13 double spends today? (edit went back to 14) on: June 10, 2014, 03:57:21 PM
https://blockchain.info/double-spends
13 14 as of 6/10/14, in the last 500k transactions (edit: went up to 14 then went back to 13, then went back to 14)

This is the first time I have seen double spends while checking this section of blockchain.
Can someone explain what is going on (I assume a misunderstanding)

152  Economy / Speculation / Re: 647-650-653 on: June 10, 2014, 03:47:28 PM
647-650-653 bounce bounce 647-650-653 bounce bounce 647-650-653.
Can anyone explain me why the price is bouncing a bit around?
Whats the point?

That's just how markets naturally move on a day by day basis.

Maybe you should go outside and take a little break.
153  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is bitpay necessary for mainstream adoption? on: June 10, 2014, 01:58:05 AM

http://newsbtc.com/2014/06/09/bitpay-names-visa-veteren-tim-byun-chief-compliance-officer/

Bitpay is being used by companies as a way to work with bitcoin (and to convert to fiat). Is this service necessary for mainstream adoption? They already hired the former visa executive as their chief compliance officer.

Can bitcoin succeed without an intermediate service like bitpay that converts to fiat?
Will bitcoin eventually just be kept and not converted to fiat (right away)?

Thoughts appreciated.

Is this service necessary for mainstream adoption?
Yes

Can bitcoin succeed without an intermediate service like bitpay that converts to fiat?
No

Will bitcoin eventually just be kept and not converted to fiat (right away)?
Maybe
154  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it my imagination or does Bitcoin tend to gravitate towards $666 on: June 10, 2014, 12:02:03 AM
Bitcoin is the currency of choice in Hell?

If Satan comes out with the announcement we will straight to da Moon!!

Now now don't give any coin creators ideas I can soon imagine a proof of work for the Hellcoin

The coin chosen by demons of the underworld  Grin

What are the odds there  is already a hellcoin out there? They were struggling to find new names for new clone coins.

Well, the Catholic Church once sold some kind of 'heaven receipts' or whatever they are called. And when you sinned you could pay your way out of hell or something like that. So that's the original hell coin sort of.

Indulgence

We stagnated in the 570-580 range for 5 long days. Soon we'll break 700.

What are your guys thoughts on NXT? I have been hearing a lot about it since it took 3rd... I think bitcoin in the future will be used for large payments and litecoin for smaller day to day transactions. nxt could also fit in there somewhere I think...what are your guys thoughts?

There is no sense in incorporating a whole new currency (ltc) into the mainstream for smaller "day to day" transactions when Bitcoin handles it just fine
160  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 05, 2014, 07:57:49 PM

The MACD did not cross

Not yet in the west, but it has in China... it seems like there is someone trying very hard to hold it back.

China isn't as significant as people would like to believe
