my thoughts on the leaf designs is that it might make brand confusion with some people over leaf coin. the tree in the design I think is still a better choice, but for simplicity sake a green layered cloud design for the leaves on top or the triangular design to represent evergreens would be a better choice, with maybe the tree in the C hex shape and we could stick the hex shape on a round coin maybe? can we do mashup designs taking the best of each here and post them for the general use, with out it being a "submission"? and can more than one person win because we used parts from each of them to make the final design???

if a new account on a new forum is being made for voting why do we not have a forum set up on the carboncoin site, and just bring everyone to the same table there.

thanks, still looking for feed back but I think I will be putting something up this friday night on ebay. would still be nice to start working with in the crypto community more.

a video of the rig, getting ready to go back to working on the other aluminum rigs, but anyone think I should make some modifications to that aluminum design so it can have ears put on it and make it rack mountable?

@danonthehill  yeah I could not figure out any on that short of notice though lol. but the coal industry is more responsible for dirtying up the air and putting carbon in it for electricity than oil is from what I have read,

I know this is pretty crude but when I read the description of what you guys wanted for the coin, to reflect what it is all about I thought of this,

essentially an image of a tree growing down into and consuming an oil well is what I tried to display in like 3 minutes or so, if anyone likes the concept I can go ahead and redo it to look more professional and glossy, with maybe a more cloud like looking leaf formation. and make the roots look more like they are wrapped around an oil well or an oil barrel to make sure the message is conveyed and in a format that is easier to convert to a coin.

some more pictures Smiley

this one is just about ready to be sold, if anyone is interested Smiley

Case with out the top or bottom on, from under the MOBO tray *(had to do it this way to mount in the screws for the HD while the brackets were mounted on the side)

Front of the unit with top off to see the GPUS and such

The hard drive mounting brackets with one hard drive in them (and no that is not two nuts really close together, it is a reflection of the one off of the bracket surface Smiley )

here you can see the placement of the hard drive behind the end fan, so it will stay nice and cool no matter what Smiley

from the back of the case with the top still open.

more of an aerial shot, over the top of the case, so you can see the asus and two sapphire r9 270Xs in there Smiley

side of the case from the fan side of the GPUs,

two very nice things about this case,
1. the case and fans are in nearly new shape which means the really good fans have nearly all their life span, and seem to be better than any other fans I have here, like when they are spinning from power, and the power is cut to them, they continue to spin for quite a while, and are much quieter than other fans I have even though they have more air flow they put out.
2. the case when fully assembled is really tough, as in you can sit on it, or stand on it and use it for getting things off a top shelf, so I am sure even with out a rack these could be stacked on top of each other and be fine for extended periods of time as a stack of computers running full time Smiley

also after a lot of digging essentially what I have here is a 6u case, something it seems can not be found on ebay right now. will continue to look for them, to see what the market feels they are worth, as a mining rig.
151  Economy / Goods / Re: currently working on open air mining case for Borgsteamfactory. :) on: April 14, 2014, 06:24:54 PM
few shots of how the somewhat rough inserts for holding the power supplies into the rack system look and removed the grill and old air filter off the fans, and tried the holder in both directions to ensure I did not need to flip the fans if I needed to reverse the airflow (individually instead of just flipping the rails they are attached to Smiley )

the raw materials I used (top is a back to a DVD player) and bottom is an aluminum angle that was used to hold a large screen LCD TV's LCD array of parts to the outer body of the TV set.

After making all the rough cuts and punching holes to hold the power supplies.

and after all the final clean up. and yes I know the PS's are tilted a tiny bit, not sure how that happened but they still work just fine. and I think this looks better than some zip ties lol. also on the side there is enough room to slide in hard drive(s) and put a fan for more air flow.

@pontiacg5 The DXF file worked like a charm Thanks a million. Now I can make them with confidence. Sent the second case to the guy I sent the first one to, and he has confirmed his sabertooth ceram!x mobo mounted to it with all the standoffs I put on the board using that DXF file perfectly Smiley

you can see what I have done as far as re-engineering the design over here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=490358.msg6107523#msg6107523 (warning tons of pics lol)

cases hold 3 power supplies natively, and up to 7 video cards with a full card slot in between each card (ie in a case you would use two screw points on the card then skip a screw point, then use two, to get that amount on there, so if you leave more room like two screw points then you get less on the rig that way, and I can put the holes where ever if someone had a lower quantity of cards they wanted to place, making the spacing between them equal and solid. I would just need to know how many. Now I am going to take a bunch of measurements off the new rack mount case I got and see how I can modify the design to fit racks so people will have more options Smiley got this monster to take the measurements from

So what if i use the carbon from my garden to make a poison whith which i kill you because you're a lousy neighbour because you play loud music all the time? Is that true freedom?
That is a problem with true freedom. I can do whatever i want with it.
As long as there are people out there that may think like this (and they do exist) having true freedom is not something humanity can handle for long. That is just the sad truth of our existence.

yeah because regulation and laws totally stop people from killing each other for what ever reason, sorry but that is not a valid reason to wear shackles of slavery. I am smart enough to know if I am being such a lousy neighbor and there are far less extreme methods that do not take all the work you are talking about using to try and poison me. in fact if you even talked about such a thing I would probably just move away regardless of what business deals we might have had and let everyone know what sort of person you are so that everyone would abandon you as well.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CARBONCOIN: The Completely Carbon Neutral Cryptocurrency on: April 12, 2014, 08:44:24 PM
I have been working on a number of things that would help with carbon offsetting and helping with reduction, one I use right now is reusing parts to things tossed out instead of buying new stuff when I can, so more energy is not going into making more raw material into (or taking old stuff and reforming it like when aluminum scrap is smelted down to make new parts) new parts, Like I use the angle aluminum and steel that is in dead LCD tvs a local repair shop tosses out, and use it when I can to build cases, just ask rev green and he can show you some pics where I inserted the rail for the backs of the video cards, as those are from such stock, I will probably do a number of custom "reduction" cases for those interested that are made entirely of such reused materials,

another item that might be a good project for those not afraid to get their hands dirty doing actual work, as I am not wanting this to be a "donate and help us do something" project, instead I want anyone donating to do so by spending what money they are spending, and using the stuff they bought at their own locations, and spread what I am working on across the globe.

This project basically entails using known processes to convert waste plant matter into actual crude oil, and though it sounds incredibly hard or even impossible, it is not, and each step is relatively simple to deploy. If you are interested in taking carbon out of the air and using that instead of virgin crude oil out of the ground, to make energy, let me know and we can start a group discussion, but please no trolls or we will kick you out instantly, only serious discussion about it, and only real concerns need to be voiced.

The added benefit to doing this, is that we will also have a source to make all the conductive clear plastics we want too, and will be able to do a number of things like making clear solar cells that are flexible plastics, or paint on, as well as bulk of very stable plastics that break down easily to make fuel out of when they are being recycled instead of just melting down and reusing (that is still an option, just if we have need one direction than the other, it is a very viable opportunity Smiley )

I hope I hear from some of you. Show how serious we are about cleaning our atmosphere. Smiley

^you can also just delete the [img]junk.jpg[img] line so that things dont repost a dozen times in a row. if you want to comment on that damn gridseed photo, comment on one of the photos, dont quote all 4 of them

or they could just add a

tag like almost all other forums have, and I am positive SMF has as an option because I have seen it on other forums that use the SMF to power their forum.

and the whole setup is 175watts at the wall
(that is a Zbox ID81+ running the show)

its a gridseed berry bush, bearing bitcoin berries Wink

something new I am working on getting ready while I wait to find out if I have proper hole placement for mounting a mother board (from that DXF file graciously provided by someone who either deleted their post or it was on another thread I started maybe and the name escapes me, so if I can track it down I will definitely give them props Smiley I just hope the placement is right so I can start making these and be sure people with no drill can still use them lol.

this pic kinda shows what I plan on doing to modify it, as the PS was in the back and there was not really enough room to fit a proper motherboard, so I removed all the cages for drives, and will retro fit a unit in the front on the side or between the power supplies, as I am not going to use that plate, but instead make a custom one so I can squeeze two power supplies in the case and still get a motherboard with room to put all the cards on risers

the front with out the power supply mounting plates, though everything here will be gone from that hole and my own custom rails will be in there to mount the top and bottom of the power supplies to,  is it weird to think of the power cords coming out the front of a rack mount case ? Wink

shot of the back, the mother board will be down at the bottom of that big black hole under the card slots, and I guess to make it more adaptable I will make the contact points on the bottom plate with various thicknesses so the mother board can be raised up a bit if need be to make contact with the shorter 16x by 16x riser cables since many are kinda short  (friend said this shot made it look like a heater, and I reminded him that with all those cards in there, it will technically lol.)

fans on the inside just behind the grill on the front of the case above the big hole that is there now that I removed the plate and cages for the drive bays. these should give plenty of air flow over the GPUs even if there is only one card slot totally open and the plate in the back is removed to allow air to be drawn between there to ensure the fans on the cards are not choked Smiley

close up of the slots and how much room there really is between them and the bottom of the case, will be easy to get more room thanks to riser cables Smiley

shot from the front so the amount of card slots in the back can be seen, and a bit of lightening of the shot to make it easier to see Smiley

morphtrust - the possibility of people trading based on this information, and therefore causing higher errors is, of course, inevitable. However, at this point in the site's life I tend to doubt that enough people are actually making decisions based on this data to significantly affect the market though. This is very hard to measure though - especially given that I'm far from an expert in economics or markets and I don't really know how many people are needed to affect the market to what degree.

Xell - I mean, I thought the average error was pretty self explanatory. If it has an average error of 1.3%, that means that on average, it is off by 1.3%. That's about it. If you take all of its predictions and compare them against the actual prices, you'll find that the average of all the errors is 1.3%. A few people have asked about this though, so I'll give a little bit more detail.

The neural network, once it is done training, does some "test runs" where it attempts to make predictions at a few tens of thousands of points on the historic data. It compares its predictions to the actual prices that occurred and calculates the errors. The average errors that show up on the charts on the home page are the averages of all of these errors from the test runs.

With neural networks, there is no data that you would get which corresponds with something like a confidence level. It tries to approximate a function, but there is no probability involved in this.

I think you mis read what I said, the price variance is lower from one year to the next because people are looking at "CHARTS" not "YOUR CHARTS"  basically the same reasons that cause spikes and dips are still happening but they are not as severe because people trying to use that to make money and pressing the event they know BECAUSE IT HAPPENED BEFORE" (not because they even know about your site or have ever been on it) your site would be  possibly effecting that if there were enough people who know about it yes, but right now I doubt that is the case as well, I have not been able to figure out what market your chart is so accurate to, because I trade on BTC38 and it was not very accurate when I checked it, and that is fine because I doubt the people there are on the same pulses the people in general are on your chart, since their market often does not mirror what other places are doing ever,

Computer randomness is pretty pseudorandom, maked up with the ticks of the computers clock to amplify the randomness, but quantic random generators are fucking random itselves.

However when a massive number of humans focus on the same event (11S attack, new years eve, etc). The different quantic rnd generators display a very curious behaviour: they enter in synchronicity offering the same 0's and 1īs at the same time.

Strange.

It seems conscience has a major impact bending probabilities. The wave function collapse is another example in the same line, I bet that these facts are somehow related, but we donīt know how, yet.

Even if I have some reserves about the possibility of predicting BTC prices or tendencies with neural nets, I find your work fascinanting and will keep an eye on it.

ok one last post here lol. this sounds like you have been following the PEAR group at Princeton Uni. heh heh,

for those wondering what he might be talking about, you can check out www.psyleron.com I believe and see the REG (*random event generators) they have built into USB devices to record the changes, or the lights that you "think on/off" with your mind alone. I still have the software that was meant to train a person to use this "conscience" to their advantage, and did quite well against others in competitive mode Smiley (name of the software was shapechanger, and was put out by mindsong inc. Wink
