141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethbits Crowdsale (ICO) MORE THAN 13644 ETH RAISED ! on: September 04, 2017, 12:32:25 PM
This is the issue I have with the team, the dividends contract should have been deployed automatically the way Tass team did their, instead of expecting us the investors to go about the procedure ourselves, this is what led to the token swap to be done twice until the team did it themselves

Deploying dividends automatically would be much better than requiring holders to keep exposing private keys which is a security threat. Why can't the ETBS team do this too?

Why do it needs our private key, Isn't this something of a security issue later?
I'm not sure if I would like to get my Dividends already but would like to hear something from an expert who knew more about this. Waiting for the exchange too.

True. If they send to any eth address who holds ETBS, they can do it as TAAS did. Its not normal to keep copy-pasting private keys.
Exactly exposing privates keys arent worth the dividend paid. I want to buy in the ICO but it needs some upgrading.

I really suggest you get legal council. There are places that specialize with cryptos. You need to press the issue deeper!

146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] (QTUM) - A Scalable PoS Smart Contract Platform - TestNet Live! on: August 28, 2017, 02:25:45 PM
I just heard Qtum will be listed on a Korean exchange tomorrow. Can anyone confirm me about? Usually the effect should be on listing a new exchange like its demand increased so does it's price. So, QTUM a good choice to buy for some reason.

I mean it could pump or dump, but I think it will go up... Some guys are talking about ghost month and that some Asians don't buy at this time, but I think that it's bullshit...

Ghost month has been proven to be FUD. BiteSizeBitcoin made a good video about it showing it to be wrong. I think September will be an overall Bullish month on all cryptos. Hopefully I am right about that.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MSP] Mothership - EU Exchange & Token Market | ICO Live - over 50% sold on: August 28, 2017, 02:13:04 PM
Mothership is my Starship pick Wink
But seriously though I am loving the progress. I can wait till we get some more traction.

It has been a fantastic couple of weeks for Mothership. Estonia has been in the news everywhere, and more people are starting to realize how significant it is to have a government supported KYC partner. Mothership has the potential to be the go-to exchange for both Estonians and Estonia's e-residents (huge market!). I picked up some $MSP because it is a bet on Estonia's policies and what is happening over there. Opening up their ecosystem to e-residents comprised of digital nomads and progressive entrepreneurs is a brilliant move and tough to ignore. Mothership is now climbing the ranks quickly and knocking on the Top 100 on CoinMarketCap. Despite only being listed on a few exchanges, $MSP is doing much more volume than assets with 2-5x the market cap. Just from a trading perspective it is flashing some great signs. With great fundamentals to boot, this is looking like a monster opportunity.

I couldn't agree with you more. Estonia is a gold mine in terms of an untapped market. And if you look at their plan. They will also try to be a Eur-Asian exchange. Trading EUR and CNY. I see great growth potential here. Also if you look at their twitter page. You can see that they've hired more developers to speed up the launch. Also they are encouraging investors come visit their office where they are making the exchange. It's all a matter of time from here.
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SCRYPT] Dotcoin on: August 25, 2017, 06:07:16 PM
Is the mining now over? If not, can somebody please remind me when it was supposed to end? Thanks a lot.

This is what they said initially after the dot 51% attack

Source: https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/news

Cutoff Block: 1,200,000
Total DOT at block 1,200,000: 522,500,000 DOT
New DOT Asset Total: 522,500,000 DOT

The current block height is given here
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dot/

However, their Waves forked  (check same source) early this week because of some confusion in updating the node. There seems to be a pending decision on whether to support waves and waves assets on their exchange. This also affects the DotCoin.

From, what I understand they were planning to move DOTCOIN to a Waves asset and the cutoff block for doing so was 1,200,000 blocks at 522,500,000 DOT. The waves client has an option to generate these waves assets as re-issueable. That means they could generate more DOT coins later if they want to if they enabled re-issue (at token creation). Its upto the coin owners to decide whether their coins are-reissueable or not when they first create their waves asset.
Maybe attack was another exchange

150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][UBQ] Ubiq - Smart Contracts For An Automated World on: August 25, 2017, 01:47:07 PM
hello,

New to Ubiq! It got mentioned in some article I read with some other coins and this one was the only one I didnt knew so thought let me check it out.

Read the op and roadmap and some pages of the tread. From what I understand there are some consensus lv changes made to the protocol. So what are these changes exact ? We have the different mining algo. But dont seem ant other changes listed on the OP? probably is me though, maybe someone could highlight some things? Or point me in the right direction?

How is ubiq in regards to scaling for example ? How is it different than eth in regards to launching icos/ dapps on the platform?
Check out the UBQ site. UBQ looks promising to me. You can buy in cryptopia. (Linked my signiture.)
At its current valuation its a good buy. The team is essential trying to improve ethereums short comings in their own platform.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: August 25, 2017, 01:25:09 PM
Can anyone explain why coinmarketcap.com reporting different "Circulating Supply",it's not same amount btc and bch? It's that the maximum coins or what in circulation till now?

That's because so many miners came on that they ended up mining blocks too fast before the difficulty could actually adjust. The difficulty for BCH is going to be a roller coaster as miners come and go.

After seeing the great Gifs the community is putting out, we've decided to run a Gif contest on Twitter!

How its going to work:
You'll have one week to design Mothership related Gifs and post them on twitter with the hashtag #MSPGifs. The prize pool is 1,500 MSP, split among 3 winners equally. One winner is chosen by the Mothership team, one by our Telegram community, and one is the Gif with the most retweets.

Only one prize per person will be awarded.

Contest will close in 1 week, so you have until next Friday, August 25th, and make sure you use the hashtag #MSPGifs.

Good luck everyone!
Sounds like fun

The last time we did an event in Shanghai it was streamed, but we used a Chinese service.  We can try to upload it for others to see if streaming isn't possible for Western audiences.
Hopefully all goes well with the event. I hope to view it (hopefully subtitled in english). Let's just say I have a lot of hope.

Qtum, will probably replace ethereum because it is simpler and has fewer problems. The UXTO model is much cleaner. They have a lot of previous developers and have already done two previous coins and are the best team I have seen so far.

I won't trust dev that promoting qtum-SCAM.....

I have not looked at qtum's code.

We know the qtum founder and he is one of the largest investors in Skycoin from four years ago, before qtum or any of this. Some of the people around him are legendary scammers, but he is not a scammer.

I think Patricks role in the bitbay situation is exaggerated. I read through the arguments and it just sounds like drama.

Many of the people in the Bitcoin community are sociopaths. They often steal things or cause drama, then immediately blame it or scapegoat it on someone else. They are not even done stealing the money, before they go on campaign of moral indignation against the fall person.

I think Patrick was blamed for Bitbay because his personality makes him an easy victim for sociopaths and the human predators in the bitcoin community. There are people walking around, sizing people up and trying to determine whether they can manipulate someone, setup a scam, steal things and who is going to be gullible or a fall person.

If you knew the people involved, you would understand what the social dynamic is.

>Also how can you be so confident qtum is going to replace ETH based on it's tech when they haven't released code yet?

Ethereum is using an accounts model, like Ripple. Which is anti-blockchain and anti-privacy and very traceable. It is against the philosophy of Bitcoin.

All coins going forward will be on the UXTO model and it is best practice for blockchain. Moving turing complete smart contracts off of accounts model and onto UXTO is extremely important and that is what qtum appears to be doing.

We need to figure out how to do general computation on a UXTO model. Instead of being restrained to the Ripple/Ethereum accounts model.

I think they will get closer to the goal, but only get there part way
- thin client for smart contracts (major limitation for existing system)
- moving smart contracts onto UXTO (major milestone)

I do not know if qtum has succeeded, but they seem to be going in right direction. I talked to one of their technical leads and they were focused on "Getting it working with something we can do now" and then incremental improvement over time. So first implementing the Ethereum virtual machine on top of UXTO, then working out the research problems for a native turing complete UXTO language later.

I do not know if there is a way to full UXTO while still having "gas". I think you will need to get rid of the "gas". In the ethereum model to take full advantage. I do not know if qtum will be able to go far enough in doing that, but is heading in the correct direction.

Ethereum tries to be both a token and a computer.
- we started with pure tokens (Bitcoin)
- then we added a computer to the tokens (Ethereum)
- now we just trying to figure out how to build  pure computer on UXTO
- Then once we have the computer, the tokens or coins just become a program or entity running on this "distributed computer"

Bitcoin, Ethereum, qtum, byteballs, etc are just stepping stones. Towards a final solution. None of these will exist or be relevant in ten years. We are in an age of transition and I am looking at the projects that are getting closer to the goal, in a pure mathematical sense.

Even Skycoin is being ripped up and its foundations constantly rewritten when it is advantageous to do so. Bitcoin is static and relatively unchanging, while Ethereum has been able to get the community to accept constant small changes.

Skycoin is on a punctuated equilibrium model, where we do bug fixes and polishing, then completely rip up and rebuild the foundation as needed, then go back to bug fixes and polishing.

Right now, we are exploring new networking primitives and the advantage of immutable data structures, but are still on blockchain. Putting EVM on UXTO is heading towards immutable data structures from the perspective of computation, while we are heading towards immutable data structures from the path of consensus, networking and simplifying object synchronization protocols.

One of the pilots that is being spun out of that project is the distibuted, peer-to-peer social media platform built upon immutable data structures and peer-to-peer object replication. For this Skycoin chose a public key, cryptographic publisher/subscriber model and DAG immutable object tree. While Ethereum's project chose a Kadmelia DHT block storage model.

Ignoring the individuals and the drama, I am just looking at the "future direction" and who is heading in that direction.

>Also how can you be so confident qtum is going to replace ETH based on it's tech when they haven't released code yet?

I am not confident it will replace Ethereum. At the start, it will be equivalent to ethereum in terms of being able to run the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) on top of qtum with UXTO. Then they will do a native language.

It will depend on the implementation. I do not know if qtum has succeeded, but they seem to be going in right direction.

Similarly, Byteballs may fail or may not exist in ten years, but they are pioneering the first experiments into replacing the Blockchain with a DAG. Which we have been considering for several years now.

Similarly, Bitcoin was the first but people are getting used to the idea that it will not be the final or best cryptocurrency. That it was just the first generation and that we can build better and improve it substantially.

thank you skycoin dev, because of you, i brought into qtum and made some money.

i like this post, everyone should read it.

that's one of the most exciting post this year.

yes that's a good post for sure.

I will the event be streamed or uploaded in anyway?

Is the problem bios Insufficient memory warning code 12
Somebody help me pls mobo msi z170 m5 and 5 gpu sapphire rx 570 OS Windows 10

I had the same problem and I seen your thread.
I figured out the problem and I though I should share it.
You need to go into your BIOS. Go into Advanced settings.
Then go into Advanced System Agent Configuration.
Set Above 4G decoding to ENABLED.
And poof it will work. You need to do this on any kaby lake board I believe.
