141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: May 16, 2014, 06:41:29 PM
no block here.
Dev said he sent coins to me but I got nothing yet.
Am I screwed?

Delete wallet.
Then import your seed again and see what's happend.

Please be patient.
I have restarted the servers and they seem to be working again.
I will recheck every transaction.
The easiest way right now is to just redownload the blockchain.
I am going wait a bit and monitor what is happening right now.
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: May 16, 2014, 06:16:49 PM
To those who haven't gotten their transactions yet.
Are you getting any blocks?
It seems the servers are already fucked.
Why didnt this happen during beta.
143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: May 16, 2014, 05:11:14 PM
I am already seeing a small bug. Please ignore your balance and use confirmed balance instead.
It seems unconfirmed balance is not calculating correctly.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: May 16, 2014, 04:39:38 PM
Its a shame the cut and paste function is not in the client for the seed. please put this in the next update.

I dont understand the problem?
You want a seperate button to copy the seed?
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 16, 2014, 04:26:56 PM
Release

The release client is available here.
https://mega.co.nz/#!T4hDVICC!fPGglOmk4pYQ2jAm4Pin_7dWfLd0CZdUysSa-ri9hAs

DO NOT USE THE BETA CLIENT!

Make sure to save your seeds and passwords or make a backup of your wallet folder.
There is always the chance that your wallet could become corrupted.

Receiving your share
To receive your share please pm me with how you want to receive your share.

The recommended way is to create a new wallet and let me send your share to one of your addresses.

A list of all IPO transactions can be found here.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1P_SE9VBAcmuTjmHU-OJVoc7rns-iDVlsMvhnfS2QgJE/edit?usp=sharing

If you used escrow please look at the information below.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=522102.msg6086813#msg6086813

Tips
Double clicking on a transaction will open up a detailed view about that transaction.
Right clicking on a name will allow you to view its details, update or sell it.
To generate blocks your wallet must be unlocked.

Requirements
The application requires a working oracle java 7 installation.

The application requires the use of the following ports:
-   9084 TCP: The port peers use to communicate which each other.
-   9085 TCP: The default port that is used for the RPC commands.
-   123 UDP: For access to NTP.

By default the application needs to have access to its own folder to read the settings and data files.

The application uses native libraries and is therefore only usable on the following systems:
-   Windows x86/x64
-   Linux x86/x64
-   Mac OSX x64

Running the application
The easiest way to run the application is to just execute the run.bat/run.sh file.
Running the application using this file will disable the RPC server and enable the GUI.

To run the application command line only you have to remove the –disablerpc option and instead add the –disablegui option. Both the GUI and RPC cannot be disabled at the same time.

Command Line Interface/Console
After running the application in command line only run the application again but now with the -cli option.
java -jar Qora-jar -cli

To execute a command use the following format:
<method> <url> <data>

Examples:
GET transactions/network
POST payment {"amount":"10.05","fee":"1.000001","sender":"Qdxn4qW8kiPUiBnBSy9mbqMGBrBHRhK2JM","recipient":"QhMaXFowsVqdAhvU2xkcLzuVaH5VDyEWsS"}

Problem solved deploying to servers now and after that I will create the launch post
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 16, 2014, 02:39:39 PM
Because of an unexpected problem with the obfuscated API the launch won't happen at 3PM GMT.
Hopefully this will take less then an hour to solve.
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 15, 2014, 10:06:21 PM
People are excited but please realize that during the beta we were unable to test the application with a large network.
There is the possibility that the client will need a quick bug patch.

Will there be a new wallet on release?

No, the wallet will be the same.

An updated wallet will be released on launch.

@qora
It's important for us to launch qora without unexpected things.
I think we should confirm the address in two ways:
1,PM qora address with btt account.
2,send qora address  to you form the  Email address witch btt account related.

one word:double confirm(btt acc+Email ).

If you want to recieve your share this way just make sure to pm me the email before the release or else this would be useless.

How will this work with the people that used Anon136 escrow service?
Anon is keeping my share in btc so does it means that I will get qora from him
or from the qora developer?
Also on 1st page it says that we need to proof the transaction that we made with Anon?
@qora:
Is it enough to send a PM to you with transaction info?
Does the message need to be signed by BTC wallet?

Please put detailed info on the distribution workflow (steps) on the 1st page
so wee can keep safe from people that would like to use the situation to scam.

Thanks.

The escrow needs to be released before you can receive your full share.
There is the possibility to ask for a small amount of your share before you release the escrow to test the application.

Hi Qora,

Can you give steps to release escrow funds to you? Also i think the mega link is dead. Cant download from there.

Same as above.
Please do not download the beta anymore.
The beta servers are offline and a new client will be available on release time.
Using the beta client on release will cause errors.

Ok boyz, I need some help plz:

I have this version installed: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=522102.msg6032099#msg6032099
Firewall is off
Wallet is unlocked

But I get no connection...
Am I dumb or do I have to make some special actions to get it running? Someone can help?

Same as above.

Hi Dev,

Have you decided on the topic of releasing source or not? Would be better not to for a time frame...

The source code of the complete project will be provided after a 1-3 months. This will protect investors against early clones.

I would prefer longer or let an independent group of well known coders look it over for the community. Source code will just make certain people attack Qora from all angles and then starting their own 'fair' (wince) coin. 6 Months would be a minimum in my opinion. The only people who ever read it are scammers looking to make some bitcoin imo.

Would you be open to opening it up to the Qora community to have some say/vote in the release?

Sure I would wait if the community wants to.
There are already some ideas about implementing a voting system where people can vote which feature should be implemented next.
This is just an idea at this point but could be very useful in the future.

qora, I consider it useful for names casemapping and only English characters. How will it be implemented?

Names will be converted to lowercase to avoid confusion.

how will I receive my coins?

I will contact all investors on launch.
You can choose any way you want to receive your share.
The preferred way is to send the share directly to one of your addresses.
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 13, 2014, 08:58:38 PM
To confirm things the launch will be at 3pm GMT this friday.
At this point it is just testing, testing and testing to make sure everything is solid.

Great news.
Qora has been cataloged by bter.com

https://bter.com/article/719

Can anyone actually understand what it says?
If google translate is working correct they are just following it at this point because they think it might have potential.
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 12, 2014, 09:10:36 PM

"Additionally there will be a fee of 0.02BTC or 0.9% which ever is greater."

The fees have been corrected.

I believe that the ability to send the coins by name would be very helpful. This will give other people your nice and a short address to which they can send coins. However, you should consider protection from naming coinciding with qora-address.

I will not be able to include this before the release.
Implementing it should not take long so it could be available in the first update.

Yeah, there's probably a misunderstanding. But still what the hell is "decentrilized" community? Is that a bunch of people who have no idea what to do, going to different directions in a dark? Some sort of centalization is necessary. Otherwise we'll end up not very well.

I feel centralized development is necessary to make sure the client keeps evolving in a steady pace.
I will not create any foundation or do any marketing in the early stages.
I do think there should be a non-profit organization which goal is purely to develop Qora including mobile wallets and light clients.
Having all these applications under one organization would be a huge advantage in attracting outsiders new to cryptocurrency.
There is still lots to do until we get to that stage.
For me the best marketing at this point is being able to provide new features at a steady pace.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 11, 2014, 09:09:17 PM
Here is the document of all the IPO transactions and the distribution.
I haven't checked every transaction yet but there shouldn't be any mistakes in this.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1P_SE9VBAcmuTjmHU-OJVoc7rns-iDVlsMvhnfS2QgJE/edit?usp=sharing

So , what is the name used for ?
I have not a clearly known of the function of the name. Can anyone explain more clearly?

A name is just a key-value pair.
The text value can be used for many things URLs, addresses, email addresses.
The community should decide how they want to use it.
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 10, 2014, 09:32:35 PM
I created the documentation of the API and it is available here.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yQa7gifMpLb8i_fHEmOPfCObAX70QUYlEYTsQL8-MtA/edit?usp=sharing
Some changes or fixes might still happen to the API before the release.
The documentation should not be taken as final.

Now , I find a bug in the test client, I can't send qora to a name , I can only send qora to an address.
Or if I send some qora to a name which have not been registered by address, is these qora will be sent or just come back to my wallet when the system find it is not registered by an address ?

You can not send Qora directly to a name which has an address as its value.
Naming could be used for that but this is not implemented in the client.
If there is a lot of support for this feature I will implement it.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 09, 2014, 09:23:08 PM
Hi qora, couple questions...

1. When is the final wallet going to be released?  On or before May 16th?  If I generate an account number and give it to you, will you send qora to me?  I think it's the safer method than transferring account seed.

2. Will you tell us in PM how much Qora we will receive?  I just want to know how much I will receive so I can verify the amount later.

3. Could you tell me how POS is going to work in Qora?  Is it a minting process like other pos altcoins (ie. if I unlock my wallet, it will automatically generate new coin block).  I'd like to learn more about POS in qora.

Great coin, great dev!

The wallet will be released on 16th may. You can create a wallet and let me send your share to any of your addresses.

I will release a list with the calculations which shows how much qora each transaction is worth.

To generate blocks you will need to unlock your wallet. the POS relies on the fact that the client has access to a somewhat reliable time source. Basicly it uses time but does not have to rely on a centralized time server to work. Currently it still uses NTP but later on this will be changed so it works completely decentralized.

I don't really understand this "account seed"

Wouldn't it be easier if we just sent you a pm with our account's address and you send each investor their Qora?

I think this will indeed be the best way to handle it.

I think sending an address to Qora is a pretty simple way to do it. I dont have any more secure way???

BUT it's not fool proof. If someone does have access to your PM they could send an address they make.

CALL ME PARANOID BUT THIS FORUM IS FULL OF HACKER TYPES. WE NEED A SECURE WAY TO DO THIS.

PEOPLE SHOULD CHANGE THEIR ACCOUNT ADDRESS NOW IN CASE THEY ARE HACKED ALREADY.

PEOPLE CALLING TO USE SEEDS WITH SOCK PUPPET ACCOUNTS AND BROKEN ENGLISH WORRIES ME, SORRY IF THAT SOUNDS RACIST.

HOW DOES THE SEED THING WORK?

Oke I undestand some people are confused why I say account seed and not private key. Basicly how the Ed25519 library works is it generates your private key and public key from a seed. What bitcoin does is generating your public key using your private key.

Your idea about the list is not bad...  however...  the signing a message (Qora address) with the sending BTC address route is very safe and probably the best way to go...  review how signing messages with your BTC address works and it will become clear very quickly.

Edit:  Will not work for those that sent BTC from exchanges though.

The problem is some people sent directly from the exchange.
The list idea could work but there are only like 3 transaction left from which I do not know the owner.
Most transaction had only one claimer and when there were multiple claimers I asked for proof.
People that want to claim transactions at this point should be able to provide proof.

157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 08, 2014, 09:04:57 PM
Currently I am thinking about launching it at 3pm GMT.
I will release the official date and hour plus the API documentation this weekend.
Also pming around 140 investors with bitcointalk making me wait 30 seconds between a pm is going to take a while.

I also want to know what will the author issuing for ipo investors
Each bitcoin transaction will represent one address.
On launch I will pm all known investors and ask how they want to receive the seed of that address.
Investors can then import that seed into their wallet and use it.

I'm suggesting to consider this service or similar https://privnote.com/

Someone creates a note, sends a link, you can read it just once. After the first time note was open service deletes it.

For example I created a note https://privnote.com/n/cfgyhsorzlnpkbnm/#zefvqzmkmusapetp after someone reads it, it will be deleted and I'll receive notification on my e-mail that the note has been read.

Everyone can choose their own way of receiving their account seed.
The investor is responsible to make sure that the way they use to receive it is secure.
Personally I do not like to send it over personal messages without knowing if the user is online.
Bitcointalk says that they cannot guarantee private messages are private.
Everyone should move their share to a new address as fast as possible for security.
Account seeds that are imported will also not be recoverable.
Any ideas about making this as safe as possible are welcome.
I think the most secure way is to just use Qora itself as in investors pm me the address they want to receive their share on.

Qora? What is different from other pos coins?I have not focused altcoins for a long time,a little out of touch.

People look at these features as a short-term success of a cryptocurrency.
These features are just the ones that look the most promising at this point.
The goal of this cryptocurrency is to be able to adapt easily to new evolutions in cryptocurrency.

A question for Qora or anyone. I played with the Beta again today. Is there a total balance shown if you have coins in the wallet?

I didn't use any coins, so maybe it didn't show. Or will we just know the balance on individual accounts?

Currently there are no totals of the balances.
This is actually something that could be usefull.
I will add it to my list and see if I can get it done before the launch.
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 06, 2014, 09:09:32 PM

For 2 what if you were able to have initiate a buy/sell order via a exchange API that services both coins?

The problem is verifying on both cryptocurrencies that the exchange took place without having to download the whole blockchain of both cryptocurrencies.

Looks good. I wonder how easy it would be to implement though?

Would be great if the client could have this design from the start.

I hope we can have a wallet that opens very simply like Bitcoin wallets do, and not the NXT way of having a web-browser wallet.

Creating a custom design takes a lot of time if you want to make it work properly with java swing.
At this point I prefer developing the core and features instead of developing the GUI.
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 05, 2014, 08:50:33 PM
A small point...Has the error on the first screenshot of the client been mentioned? It says "payment is send"

Obviously it needs to be "Payment is sent" or maybe "payment has been sent".

Plus on the naming service screenshots one window heading is "Cancel Sell Name" Which makes sense but a far better use of English would probably be "Cancel Name Sale" or more simply could be "Cancel Sale"

What do other native speakers think?

What's the usefulness for the average user for the naming service? Anyone know?

Thanks for noticing that I will change it.

Naming could be used for a lot of stuff it might be useless nobody knows unless we actually create and try it.

Possible Features
1)   Anonymous transactions/Zerocoin: One of the biggest problems of Bitcoin is of course that every transaction is traceable. Currently Zerocoin is the most promising project which is trying to solve that problem in a decentralized way.
2)   Cross Blockchain trading.
3)   Finite Blockchain/Blockchain shrinking.

I think above three is more important.

1 and 2 are very difficult to do.
1 Will probably be changed into coinjoin and might transform into zerocoin in the future if it becomes usable.
2 Might not even be possible.
3 Not that difficult but requires a strong network to make it work properly.
