141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: number_format() is rounding and I don't want it to... on: January 31, 2014, 02:28:35 PM
You can do that in a oneliner:
Code:
$formatted = preg_replace('/^(\d+\.\d\d)(\d+)/', "$1<small>$2</small>", $unmodified_blockchain_balance);
142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: number_format() is rounding and I don't want it to... on: January 31, 2014, 10:49:45 AM
If you only want a formatting like 0.00 without rounding, that code is about an order of magnitude slower.
143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: number_format() is rounding and I don't want it to... on: January 31, 2014, 09:36:29 AM
Code:
$formatted_blockchain_wallet_bal = sprintf('%02d', $formatted_blockchain_wallet_bal);
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: number_format() is rounding and I don't want it to... on: January 29, 2014, 09:51:49 PM
A simple way:
Code:
$formatted_blockchain_wallet_bal = intval($unmodified_blockchain_balance * 100) / 100;

Or if you want to make it look odd:
Code:
$formatted_blockchain_wallet_bal = substr($unmodified_blockchain_balance, 0, strpos($unmodified_blockchain_balance, '.') + 3);

Apart from the chance that mtgox will probably ban your IP for abusing the API, there are other methods too.

Use BigQuery: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=218980.0

Is the bounty ladder still active and paying?

Zynga has announced it will accept Bitcoins.

Zfs for sure. But should Ingo with a single card. Like mentioned above. If I ever want more than 24 I could just add another card.

Or should I got with 3 8 porters to spread risk?
3x 8 ports should be cheaper than 1x 24 ports. I'd buy a spare controller and disk too.
Maybe port multipliers would be worth a try, but they split up the bandwidth of the port.
148  Economy / Services / Re: Someone to help me build Storage Server on: December 25, 2013, 10:42:09 PM
Sure by default nothing is guarantee in life such a job, money, BTC and else anyways he wanted to be certain about his RAID 5 setup so about this, he can transfer data stuff using the Areca ARC-1880ix-24-4G controller without any data failures.
I hope you're not serious. A raid5 array with 24 drives? You're just asking for data loss.
149  Economy / Services / Re: Someone to help me build Storage Server on: December 25, 2013, 10:13:08 AM
Hot swap yes, but I'm more concerned about expandability?
After you have replaced all drives in a zfs pool, you can expand it to the new size.

Windows? Seriously?

And just because it has not been mentioned yet: hardware raid does not guarantee data integrity by default.
Furthermore, your controller is a single point of failure. In case it goes down, there's a chance that it will take down all your data too.
You can't just stuff in another controller and expect everything to work again. Some suggest to keep an identical spare controller, even with the same firmware version.
150  Economy / Services / Re: Someone to help me build Storage Server on: December 23, 2013, 06:46:26 PM
Hook up all your drives and use an OS with ZFS support, like FreeNAS. Depending on how important your data is, use a Z3 instead of a Z2 raid. ZFS likes RAM, so stick in 8GB or more.

The thread is good but how does someone claim this bounty and who is eligible?Anyone or former customers?I'd like this cleared up.Thanks Smiley
If you never had an investment at Bitcoinmax, why should you be able to get a withdrawal?
I only want those requests paid which were made before Pirate defaulted (currently only by someone703 and me). As said, I requested only a part of my investment; for the rest, I still consider Pirate responsible, not Ian.
Whoever convinces Ian to pay can have the promised 10% share. He still should have all the data to verify the requests. It would be very stupid of him to delete that. Assume something is returned from BS&T after SEC is done and he cannot correctly split those coins amongst his investors.

So someone visits him and manages to speak to Ian. His reply, most likely: "It's all gone, blame Trendon, derp".
Ian has coins. Part of my coins moved last in July this year.

The next interesting situation will be if the SEC extracts any funds from Trendon. This may very well be just 0.1% of what he scored. And may very well be in a few years from now on. But maybe the exchange rate will make those 0.1% a fortune. Now what? Ian never sent a list of his users to anyone, as far as I know. Would everybody have to prove individualy to have lost funds? Or will Ian make up a new list? Will Ian receive the funds, as he was the direct contact to Trendon?
That's why I would like to see the option to download posts or private messages signed with an official forum key. Many investors should have recevied their deposit address via PM from him.
154  Economy / Services / Re: [Bounty] [Currently: 43 BTC max] Bitcoinmax / payb.tc / Ian Grice on: December 09, 2013, 10:14:50 PM
I'm confused as to why you think he would pay amounts requested before the default or pay just a few of you?
Why should he not? Some users made perfectly fine withdrawal requests, but he just ignored them.
He was always quick to reply before if you wanted to deposit. Then he did everything he could to complicate things. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=235823

You're offering a bounty for info? Help finding him? A hit squad? How could this possibly help now? If there were a way I would try myself.
His location is known. Someone in Australia just needs to visit him to earn a share from whatever he returns.
And for the records: I do not support violence.

With 1), I understand this thread, but am asthouned that this comes up now, after years and years of the default?
How can anyone help here, when not having any withdrawal requests before Trendon/Pirates' default? Those regular cases who lost coins should rather work on recovering funds from Trendon/Pirate. But then it looks like he was already in gov custody anyway.
Reason is that with exchange rates around $1000 a bounty should be more interesting now. I've PM'ed him a few times in the past and before the default he quickly replied; later, he just ignored any PM. The SEC actions against Pirate are/were really slow, so a year doesn't mean much there. In the past months nothing seems to have happened at all even.

In my opinion, there are two cases here:
1. The funds for which Pirate is responsible: I've asked for approx half of my BMax account; the other half I don't want from Ian. They should come from Pirate, but yeah, I don't see much of a chance there and I consider them lost.
2. The funds for which Ian is responsible: several people made withdrawal requests and he decided not to pay those.

Maybe he can help you
157  Economy / Services / [Bounty] [Currently: 68.7 BTC max] Bitcoinmax / payb.tc / Ian Grice on: November 29, 2013, 03:00:25 PM
As most might know, Bitcoinmax was a passthrough for investing with Pirate's BS&T.

I'm offering 10% of the retrieved coins which I requested before Pirate defaulted. So far, payb.tc has refused to pay those withdrawal requests and ignored all contact attempts.

I would like to point out that I'm only looking for the amount I requested from him and not for the full balance my account had.

Other investors in the same situation are welcome to join.

Well, there's a huge difference between a bounty, a percentage of the returns and a plain fund which pays regardless of the outcome..
With the recent exchange rate, even a few Bitcoins should go a long way though. I'm in, just to see some justice done.

Ente
A fixed bounty might increase the loss if the retrieved amount is lower than the promised bounty. Same for a fund.

A percentage however includes the incentive to be as effective as possible, because a higher return means a higher reward.

Now that's the real amazing news here. No assasination, no (real, mind you) mob formed, no bouty, nothing ever happened. Except, embarrasingly, the government who stepped in.
I said before that I would pay a percentage of any retrieved coins.

With Ian, hmm.. I saw no hard evidence that he did something evil, instead of a simple "did something stupid".
Being stupid is one thing, refusing to help is another. As for evidence: I started to get suspicious when I noticed that coins I sent to Ian were moved in July this year. And from the history of that address, it seems like it was one of Ian's pooling addresses.

I wonder if there's enough left in the community to form a mob? I doubt it, somehow..
With investors spread all over the world, there's not much of a chance for a real mob. That's why I think a bounty might work better.

payb.tc triesto sit this out, ignoring anything related to bitcoinmax and changing nicks and all that.
He's been acting very fishy ever since Pirate defaulted and tried to hide every detail of his passthrough. From what I know, he also refused to work together with the officials (SEC). So I'm not sure anymore if it really was a passthrough at all.
I wonder if anybody living in Australia would be willing to act on behalf on Ian's investors and face him to talk about all this (and maybe even file a lawsuit). Ian seems to have ignored a few withdrawal requests before everything blew up. Considering the current BTC value, a bounty from those investors would most likely equal tens of thousands of dollars.
