141  Economy / Economics / Re: Passion for skills. on: February 11, 2024, 08:40:57 PM
There's this thing about learning skills in today's world. I don't know if I'm the only one who gets it, but then deciding to learn a particular skill, you made up your mind and all and then boom, someone just comes with or you discover something better and it becomes hard to focus on the stuff you were learning before. How does one deal with such things ? It may also be due to the fact that the times are changing and information are getting to much for you to keep up with. So the question remains the same, what would one do in this situation?
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Opinions on the Pi network on: February 11, 2024, 08:32:03 PM
I think the pi network are taking too long to launch the mainnet and most especially validate most of their users in queue for the kyc process.
Unlike before, the pi network hype had really gone down because of their delay.

In crypto, too much delay can affect the success of the project because new projects comes out every so often and investors only go with the trend.
Look at how ice network getting things done as soon as possible, they understand the market and knows how to work with the trend.

That's true. Was going to compare Pi and the Ice network, cause I also mine from there. Now thinking about how unhyped people are now , if it comes out today and becomes real big, would anyone want to buy it? And also, what do you think might be the problem ? Cause definitely the producers of the Pi network know that their probably losing grounds with their delay.
143  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Access bank CEO death: is your funds in access bank safe? on: February 11, 2024, 02:35:50 PM
First of all, this is a really sad and shocking news. May their would rest in peace

Secondly, Big firms like this aren't sole proprietorship businesses where the death of the owner necessarily affects the business. Yes, the death of course would affect the business but not to the extent of shutting down. There are investors, stakeholders, and most importantly board of directors where someone responsible enough can easily be singled out as the new CEO. The only way it'll affect us the customers is if their culture changes due to the change in ownership.

My thoughts on continuous banking would be to continue banking. Sometimes these changes in culture may be positive cause a responsible person might want to do better than the last and sometimes negative if an any how person is put on seat.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Opinions on the Pi network on: February 11, 2024, 01:32:30 PM
Let's talk about the Pi network. With about 48 million users known as pioneers, this altcoin has gained popularity already. Also, its easy mining structure makes it more appealing to users than a lot of other altcoins. Although there are good speculations about it, it still hasn't been listed on Binance or any other exchange platform for buying and selling. What may be the reason? Is this how long it took other altcoins before they came into use? It's been more than 4 years since its words came to the public. What do you think caused the long wait and how valuable would it be when it comes out?
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your take on Social Media platforms on the Web 3? on: February 11, 2024, 01:11:05 PM
Have you heard about Quarashi? It's a Web 3 wallet, if I'm correct. I bought their token long ago, and the team developed something like an anonymous social media platform where the wallet users can chat and communicate with one another. There is no personal information needed; you can connect using either a wallet address or a designated username, and the chat is very secure and encrypted.

If that's the kind of web3 social media that you are proposing, then I will say it will be a good one, but it won't gain popularity as not everyone likes wallet connections in order to chat, and not everyone is also an advocate of privacy to the next level. Another factor that people could consider before venturing into it is the speed at which it will be used to convey a message to the next person and data safety.

I haven't heard of them, but will do some research. Xenwave uses more or less the same principle, but with a few more perks incorporated into it, as it also has built-in DeFi support and we will be adding NFT support soon.

In my opinion this has been a long-overdue. We are currently working on Xenwave, a Web 3 application with a social-media spin that allows users to share and communicate using just their Web 3 wallets, and are interested to know what is the broader community's take on both the need for such platforms in the first place, but also on the features that would make them attractive to the crypto and Bitcoin communities.
Welcome i have always wanted to see a highly decentralized social media paletform where members will have that freedom to take control of their privacy and also activities,  so for sure web 3 will definitely create that bridge that will link both freedom and control for the user.
Many of us have been on the lookout for development of such a platform and i am glade that you have co.e up with this, so i am looking forward to see more positive outcome from all of this.

It's already operational, though in very early stages. Could you have a look and give us some feedback? https://xenwave.com

Haven't heard of Xenwave or others either, might carry out research..but I just want to get something straight, are they exchanges where you can get tokens or we are talking about a literal social media. If we're talking about a literal social media, then how do you get tokens from such platforms ?
146  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Difference between bitcoin investment and trading on exchange on: February 11, 2024, 12:56:05 PM
It's not like you asked a question, but, if I was to answer the question from the topic, they're both investments if you ask me. Investments have to do with periods but not necessarily long periods of time. Meanwhile, in this context, one has to do with a short period while another long period. And that's trading and hodling, respectively.

Trading has more risks and on top of the risk, most times lesser returns but most people still prefer and go into it because of quick cash. While investments/hodling would be for futuristic people who want to sacrifice now for later. It has the risk of losing value if the price falls ... But one would still earn something out of it especially now that inflation is taking advantage of all currencies and most especially ours.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don’t you think BRC20 tokens need more spotlight? on: February 11, 2024, 12:34:24 PM
There are many other tokens out there, so why this one though? It doesn't even positively affect the Bitcoin community that much to need to that much spotlight. If you already have these tokens then I'd say you should be patient till when it's price spikes like others, cause it definitely would, but if you haven't then you should properly use your money getting other better and more popular tokens or altcoins.
148  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / A question of answer now on: February 10, 2024, 11:13:41 AM
Good day, my countri people.

So, there's this question which even though I feel would have been better in the Economics board, I'd like to hear your opinion first.

I'm an economics student, and being on this forum I've always had to answer economic-related questions and thought I knew more than enough about our economic problems and how to solve them. But I was asked a straightforward question around last week and I honestly couldn't think of anything. The question was " As an economist, if you were to become the president of the country how would you treat the current hardship in the country ?"

This question had me thinking for hours cause, first of all, I always thought the solution to our economic problems was in the hands of the CBN Governor and the Minister of Finance, so what does the president want to do?

Didn't even want to check any search engine, cause it was a practical question. So, the question is going out to you all. What solution would you administer to the economic problem in this country as the president?
149  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How dollar rise take affect the prices of things? on: February 10, 2024, 10:44:19 AM
The effect of the dollar rise in our country is because, first of all, the higher the difference between the dollar and the naira the less value the naira would have. When the naira has less value, its purchasing power will reduce i.e. when you go to the market 10k can't buy what 10k used to buy.

Another reason would be that Nigeria doesn't produce most of its commodities instead imports from other countries and depends on the dollar exchange rate to pay for those commodities. So when the dollar per naira increases, we pay more and of course sell at a higher rate. There may be other reasons though... but these are the 2 important reasons why.
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Morpheus Network (MNW) - good investment? on: February 09, 2024, 03:27:06 PM
Sounds promising, and one can even gain more from fast-rising altcoins like this one. Although alluring, I wouldn't want to be a victim of scam coins, so, I'd do my research. Want to be quick though so I won't miss out if it turns out to be a really nice opportunity.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This Blockchain Seems Promising and has an Emerging Coin to Watch on: February 08, 2024, 08:16:16 PM
Thanks for this piece of information.

Dymension has been increasing in demand, no surprise its price also increased within the last few days. Probably carry out my research, and watch the market though. You'd never know what can happen in the industry, but regardless an opportunities this shouldn't be taken for granted.
152  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Try all your best to gain knowledge on: February 08, 2024, 07:59:50 PM
My country people good afternoon inside this afternoon, see eh,  anything wey we dy do, make we try all our best to gain knowledge, because even bible talk say knowledge is profitable to direct, see eh, most people for we country wey dy misinformed or wey  lack  knowledge believe say once you dy press phone or laptop too much, mean say you be scammer or yahoo boy, make we look around us for we country, almost all the people doing well get one or two knowledge about  something wey dy pay dem well, ok make we talk about dis crypto industry now, those people wey lack knowledge about the industry, na dem dy mostly go lose money for trading and scammers hand pass because them no know whats up, some of dem dy even invest serious money in shit coin because them lack knowledge, wen de coin fall and refuse to rise again dem go generalize am say crypto generally na scam, or you wan talk of those people wey dy give people money to trade for dem? All this tins dy boils down to lack of knowledge.
I don even see one young fine guy wey one white man wan give one good job like that, because him no sabi read, the man no just know how him fit help am again, because na guy wey him just like, and the job demands documentation, so why I dy tlk all this tins is that make we seek knowledge with everything we get abeg, because e get why.

Na true talk na e you talk so oo. Knowledge is very powerful and important. Saves a man from trouble and a lot of other bad things. Seek knowledge regularly, and strive for perfection in whatever field you decide to focus on. Na why this country dey get unnecessary problems, people dey too quick believe rubbish cause dem no get some foundational knowledge. And the funny part is knowledge is Soo cheap to acquire. The same goes for knowledge about Bitcoin or whatever digital phenomenon there is out there.

Anyways, I'm not going to talk too much. Op and some others have already said more than enough. In conclusion, seek knowledge regularly. Even if it's general or weird information, you'd never know when it'll come in handy.
153  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Having patient in an investment or quit? on: February 04, 2024, 09:04:17 PM
I really couldn't pinpoint your message from this thread but from the topic ... I guess you're talking about the period of time for different investments.

If that's the case then you should know that interests from investments aren't supposed to be seen immediately. If they are seen immediately then that's just a top-up on your savings and nothing extra. Not seeing interests immediately shouldn't be considered as a loss .. cause investments are usually for the far future ... Before whatever time limits you have .. you'd definitely see your returns.

In conclusion, I'd say research matters a lot so you don't get to wait for so long and actually don't see your returns ... Cause that would be terrible.
154  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Accumulate assets of different forms Now on: February 04, 2024, 07:13:24 PM
Yes, this is very true. I remember when I read the story of Laszlo Hanyecz for the first time, I was like "Was he in his right senses or something ?" ... Cause...

Anyway, the main deal here is you'd never know what may become a high-paying asset in the future ... So be very careful with your possessions and also .. whenever something begins to gain gradual popularity ... It'll be advisable to earn it and keep ... Since the worth of most assets increases over time. But then again, be very careful with whatever you're holding. Not everything's worth increases over time. Many people have lost their investments because they didn't have the right knowledge and information to sell their possessions at the right time.
155  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Making wise use of your crypto finance on: February 04, 2024, 09:37:28 AM
I enjoyed reading this post until the part you mentioned investing upto 80% of you outcome. These days with enough responsibility I don't think Investing 80% would be a good idea. Sue to the current increase in dollar inflation is hitting hard and the only way to survive is to reduce excessive spending and buy the needs while you ignore lots of wants, and even with that knowledge, you find out that 20% is very small to meet up those needs. So I advise those who are willing to invest to 10-20% of their income first for holding, and if they feel very  comfortable with that, they could increase it until they feel fulfilled.

Honestly, I understand what the OP is trying to say. Most youths and young people don't have much or any responsibility yet apart from taking care of themselves, and he wasn't talking about married people or just anybody, he specifically said young people.

It's very easy for young people to save over 80% of their income. Although of course, it wouldn't apply to everybody. A person earning over 100k monthly or in whatever period can easily save 80k and make use of simplification.

Simplification is a phenomenon that explains reducing your expenses to the barest minimum. This would work for everyone but not everyone earns over 100k.

So, dividing your income into different sections according to what and how you earn would be better and more advisable for everyone in different age groups.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What do you think about this top GambleFi projects site? on: February 03, 2024, 09:15:35 AM
Don't have any experience with gambling sites ... And I don't want to believe that it's a coincidence your username happens to be the same thing you're asking about.

I'd only say you should properly research before going into any online crypto-gambling services or better still ... Stay away from them. In as much as they have features like sharing revenue tokens with holders, transparency, fairness, and stuff like .. that, I'd rather stay away and not let myself become a victim of loss of hard-earned money.
157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 📢 ₿ Bitcoin will replace Dollar? Even celeb venture capitalists are saying this on: February 03, 2024, 08:32:23 AM
Honestly, I think we'd just have to wait and see. The probability of Bitcoin becoming a legal tender is 50/50. Some experts already said that it's possible for Bitcoin to replace the world's global reserve because of its ability to offer efficient ways of storing wealth and transferring value across borders. Also, it's becoming widely accepted. But at the same time, it has limitations which have made some of us to believe and accept that it can only be an alternative to money.

So, we'd just have to wait and see if Bitcoin lives up to the expectations or remains an alternative asset.
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Black Rock Influence on: February 02, 2024, 04:53:37 PM
I think we're all having different stats cause...

According to my research, they own over 118.585 Billion dollars. Not sure if that's their worth of Bitcoin though...but It can't be over 11,439 BTC worth.

But the main question to answer here would be if they can influence bitcoin market. I'd say, being the largest asset manager, they should have a small chance of doing that. And that chance would be the capacity to attract other investors and have a good impact on the legitimacy and adoption of Bitcoin as they specialize in alternative investments.
159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is bitcoin linked to the main owner? on: February 02, 2024, 04:33:38 PM
When you said, "How is Bitcoin linked to the main owner?"

I wasn't expecting Jimmy but then the story of Jimmy Zhong and the Silk Road incident has got to be the biggest crime story in the history of cryptocurrency. Anyway, I think the answer to your question was literally already written by you before you asked the question.

About 9 years after his theft, he made a huge mistake which cost him imprisonment for 1 year and 1 day. That mistake was transferring Bitcoin to a crypto exchange that followed KYC policy and was traced to his home in Georgia. Afterward, he was arrested.
160  Economy / Exchanges / Re: All my savings on BKEX are gone. on: February 02, 2024, 03:58:26 PM
Sorry to hear that you lost your investments in BKEX.

This is the reason why we ought to do proper research before investing and using some exchange platforms. Although, sometimes our research may even fail us, so, it's a lesson to be learned.

The BKEX itself has been alleged to be involved in wash trading, fake volume, and so on. And honestly, what's way worse than losing your savings would be believing in companies that claim they can retire them back.

I hope the lessons have been learnt though .. be very careful when choosing exchange platforms.
