141  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 13, 2017, 04:37:01 AM
Today West Indies take on Ireland in a one-off ODI today. This match is crucial to West Indies, who have to win this match as well as the series against England to automatically qualify for the ODI world cup. Ireland will fancy their chances here, given West Indies’ fluctuating performance. Sri Lanka will also be rooting for an Ireland victory here.
142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Ban on ICO is Temporary on: September 13, 2017, 04:31:26 AM

It doesn't matter if it is temporary or not. The market is moved by sentiment and nothing else. Even rumours of a proposed crack down on bitcoin exchanges has resulted in the price plummeting. Only when the government changes its mind and actually introduces licensing of ICOs, will the sentiment change. Until then, sentiment (especially about China) will continue to remain negative.
143  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to 7000 HOT SEPTEMBER on: September 13, 2017, 04:28:46 AM
September seems to be a real bad month for Bitcoin. We have crashed a further 8% from yesterday and have gone below $4000. Now we will have to look at the other support levels, to see where it will stabilize. $7000 in September definitely seems to be out of the question. But then again, if China had not cracked down on ICOs and had not threatened to ban exchanges, then we might have seen a different trajectory.
144  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we already rich, gentleman? on: September 13, 2017, 03:53:58 AM
I don't think that we are the rich gentlemen yet, as I don't believe that most of us including me invested in bitcoin when the price per coin was like 0.1$ or less, so still there is a long way to go before we become rich gentlemen.

I think the OP is talking about whether we are rich, given our current bitcoin holdings. The current market value of these holdings may not be high enough to classify us as "rich", but when bitcoin explodes we will be sitting on a sizeable nest egg. Given bitcoin’s potential, I think it is only a matter of time before its price goes up exponentially.
145  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Law To Declare Bitcoin Ownership on: September 13, 2017, 03:50:09 AM

The question of whether Bitcoin is tainted is different from whether Bitcoin is unaccounted for. The government may be hard pressed to prove that you got your money through illegal means, but they may still be able to nail you for tax evasion. One famous example is the drug lord Al Capone. The Feds couldn't nail him on drug trafficking charges, but they were able to show that he didn't pay taxes.
146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 12, 2017, 05:17:52 PM
World XI are still playing well and Perera just hit 3 back-to-back 4s. If they manage to get 4s and 6s in the last 4 overs, they will probably win this game and Pakistan needs a wicket badly to stop those big runs from coming. Pak played well in the first session but I still feel they were 10-20 runs short and hence now those runs are coming so fast from the other team. Now the chances of them winning is 80-20.

In spite of some big hitting, World-XI were nowhere close to Pakistan’s total in the end. I think they lost their way in the middle overs, when they lost wickets in a lump. It is possible to accelerate in T20 if you have wickets in hand. Hosting this match was just as important to Pakistan as winning this match. They have now shown the world that it is possible to put in fool-proof security in place and host matches in Pakistan.
147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big blockers exposed: $500,000 moved with a $5 cents fee on: September 12, 2017, 12:16:03 PM
The block size debate has not gone away, it has just been postponed till the number of transactions increase and the blocks start getting full again.

Which can happen at any time at the whim of the blockchain spammers. It would be wonderful to have purely organic transaction pressure but there'll never be such a thing. I suspect we'd be years away from $1+ fees if such a thing were possible.

Right now, it does seem like the previous pressure was artificially created. But keep in mind that the blocksize has to cater to peak transaction throughput, not the average throughput. There might be times when blocks are running full due to organic pressure. Even in the current scenario, there are times when we see multiple full blocks (Weight close to the theoretical maximum of 4000).
148  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 【2017-09-12】It Will Take Two or Three Years B4 all Chinese Exchanges Are Banned on: September 12, 2017, 12:12:45 PM
Forget the Chinese news journals, even mainstream world wide media reporting about a possible ban. When publications like Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg start talking about a ban, you have to take them seriously. I am not sure if the Chinese government will achieve its objectives, but it does seem to be trying to crush Bitcoin. The ICO ban was just the first step in a series of efforts.
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big blockers exposed: $500,000 moved with a $5 cents fee on: September 12, 2017, 12:08:50 PM
This is a little bit misleading as the transaction fee is not a function of the value of the transaction, it is a function of the number of input and outputs. So this just is a transaction which has confirmed with a 5 cent fee, the $500,000 value is just incidental to the transaction. The block size debate has not gone away, it has just been postponed till the number of transactions increase and the blocks start getting full again.
150  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Law To Declare Bitcoin Ownership on: September 12, 2017, 09:23:49 AM
I am not sure if your country is having a law requiring all citizens to declare Bitcoin ownership...maybe there is still no such a law yet but what if there is...would you follow that law and be open about your engagement with cryptocurrency or would you choose to just ignore thinking that anyway the government can have a hard time detecting your involvement with it?

In the next few years and as Bitcoin (and cryptocurrency in general) would be more and more popular, there would be more clashes on many pivotal issues regarding laws and regulations focused on Bitcoin. What we are witnessing this year is just an introductory phase on many things to come...so brace yourself and be prepared for the ride of your life.

Welcome to the Bitcoin generation...where all sides are on edges!

This is a tricky question. There are countries where declaration of assets is mandatory and hiding your assets is a crime. So in case the government discovers unaccounted for assets, they can infer that you got the assets through illegal means. At the least, they will nail you for making a false declaration of your assets. So if it does become necessary to declare your crypto assets, the best option would be to come clean.
151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: if bitcoin will become the main coin, what will happen to the money we are using on: September 12, 2017, 09:20:56 AM
i wonder: if Bitcoin will become the main coin, what will happen to the money we are using now like us dollar?

You forget that the biggest driver behind fiat money is the government. As long as taxes are due to the government and they have to be paid in fiat, there will be use for your dollars and euros. No government is going to accept that bitcoins are more valuable than the fiat they print; hence the government will continue to accept fiat money at least for taxes and penalties.
152  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-09-11] North Korea Uses Bitcoin to Fund their Military on: September 12, 2017, 09:18:38 AM
Quote
Because of its lack of control and secretiveness, bitcoin is a useful tool to accelerate North Korea’s military operations.

Just rumors and conjectures. I think there a lot of ways to spare BTC money, except military needs in North Korea. Who said, that those hackers worked for Kim and his regime. They may be just local IT specialists/hackers with access to internet.

Anything related to North Korea seems to be played up by the media these days. If the country wanted bitcoins, they just have to turn to China, where there is an abundant supply. North Korea depends on China for a major portion of its food and oil supplies. If China wants, it can choke North Korea easily. But it sees North Korea as a useful tool to keep the US occupied.
153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 12, 2017, 08:01:39 AM
Pakistan take on the World-XI in the first match of the Independence Cup tomorrow. Given that Pakistan were languishing at the bottom of the ODI tables not a long time ago, this shouldn't have been difficult to predict. But after the Champions' Trophy victory, nobody will write off Pakistan.

I still say that Pakistan is not a strong team and their player performance is like gambling can't predict how they play. Champions Trophy also they won by luck. They got a couple of good bowlers but no consistent batsman, they need to build a good team to win most of the matches they play.  Match fixing may be a reason for their inconsistent performance.

The bookies surprisingly seem to be giving equal chances to both Pakistan and the World-XI. One reason could be that although the World-XI is filled with superstars, they might not have a lot of cohesiveness as a team. Sometimes, a team effort is required to win a match. On the other hand, Pakistani players have played a lot together (although there is a lot of infighting).
154  Economy / Speculation / Re: Last chance for cheap Bitcoin? on: September 12, 2017, 07:58:35 AM
It depends on your definition of “cheap bitcoins”. In the long run, if you are selling bitcoins for a million dollars, it doesn’t matter whether you bought them at $4000 or $5000. I would suggest buy bitcoins periodically, at regular intervals, without worrying whether you are getting the best deal possible.
155  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic equivalance of Bitcoin(time value of Bitcoin) on: September 12, 2017, 07:55:52 AM
Time value of Bitcoin is relevant if you want to discount the value of bitcoins you are getting in the future. Since there is no risk associated with Bitcoin, the discounted value should almost equal the value of bitcoins you are getting. However, if there is some uncertainty about the ability of the person who is paying you, the discount rate should reflect the risk that the payer might fail.

157  Economy / Economics / Re: I want to invest 1000 USD into crypto on: September 04, 2017, 05:44:44 AM
Alright, let's say I have a budget of 1000 USD and I want to invest it into cryptocurrency. Is it better to buy my own setup and mine or do cloud mining or should I buy some coins directly ? What cryptocurrency might be the best for long-term profit ? I am willing to lose that money (although I would be sad ofc) but I wanna somehow start with cryptos since I believe it has got a great future.

Buy bitcoins, put them in cold storage and forget about it. Mining rigs are expensive and there are running costs (primarily electricity) as well. Plus it is no longer a profitable model for small players.
158  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 04, 2017, 05:42:42 AM
I hate to be a Debbie Downer but I do not like the risk/reward for btc right now. If we manage to break through $5000 I see a maximum of $5500 to $7000 before a major (meaning painful) correction. I am talking about $2500 to $2800, 50% correction or back to the weekly 20 MA. You know it will come, we just don't know when. I would rather wait for a huge discount to buy. I hope I am wrong, really, but I doubt it.

Cut
It still doesn't hurt to dip your hands into the cookie jar and buy some Bitcoin right now. It's never a good idea to put too much in at one point anyways, and if you only buy a little now and buy the rest later it can't hurt- I also expect we probably won't break $5000 this time around, and we will continue on a temporary downwards trend.

Most people are already all in - In terms of the maximum exposure they would like to take towards Bitcoin. But if it goes below $3000 again, I am sure they will tweak their asset allocation given the good opportunity they see.
159  Economy / Speculation / Re: Max Keiser: Bitcoin’s going to be worth a trillion dollars soon! on: September 03, 2017, 06:35:02 PM
I think the marketcap will be worth a trillion dollars at some point but I don't think it will be 'soon'. To me soon is anything between next month and 6 months. If he would be right I would be very worried because multiplying the current marketcap times ten in under 6 months just sounds unsustainable.

That is true. Expecting Bitcoin to go up 10x in a year is expecting too much. But, if we look at the last 1.5 years, BTC has risen from $300 to over $4000 now, that is a gain of more than 10x. But expecting that to repeat itself in the next 1 year is asking for too much.
160  Economy / Economics / Re: How to invest in bitcoin? on: September 03, 2017, 06:10:48 PM
best way to invest you bitcoin is to invest in ico's. first you will get bonus and second when they hit market price pump so you gain great profit.or you can invest in potential tokens mainly go for debit card(payment) tokens project as their token price increase rapidly.

Not really good advise. There is additional risk in investing in ICOs. Some day, this bubble is going to burst.
It might be better to invest in bitcoins and hold them in cold storage.
