141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: June 03, 2017, 07:48:54 PM
WAVES is now the only top 20 crypto not on Polo. It's gotten this far without Polo, what happens when they add it?

WAVES will likely be to bittrex what ether was to poloniex. It will attract a lot of traffic to the site and will greatly increase the size of bittrex.

WAVES has shown it doesn't need poloniex to become great. Besides, with the DEX it doens't even need exchanges when volumes start to increase there.

Great Post! I concur, POLO's dominance is on its way out with this latest boom of new crypto investors.

I personally hate  Polo's Whale Club who loves manipulating smaller crypto's at the little guys expense.

Whats a safe wallet for Mac, bug free  ?

We recommend to use the Komodo Swing wallet: https://forum.supernet.org/t/komodo-swing-wallet-for-windows-and-osx/48/4

The Agama Wallet is still in early beta and some users have problems with it.

Thanks!!!

I think they're talking about the old UltraCoins.  The previous iteration of Veritaseum built on top of bitcoin used UltraCoins.

The previous version of the platform was a peer to peer asset trading platform based on bitcoin with a feature of no counterparty risk. It was incredibly smooth in operation and quite advanced. This was released, and at the same time consulting and services were purchasable with the first coins.

Shortly after the beta was released for trading, due to regulatory greyness, the trading platform was pulled from public download. Reggie and team continued to work on the big vision, and provided consulting services for those tokens. (in my estimate) The early token purchasers provided funds for growing this business to where we are now.

I knew they had a version in development before I just didn't know how far they got with it.  I guess that should put some of the doubters to rest. They already had/have a working BTC platform thats being ported over to Ethereum.

People who accuse the original site of looking "scammy", wouldn't the application of common sense, knowing where Veritas is in the business cycle (i.e. early) give you an idea of why the lack of polish?

As an investor I'd rather see effort on developing the products and readying the products for public release.  The fact that the original website lacked the pretty final touches tells me mgt. has their priorities straight.  If people can't see or understand that perhaps they should just walk away and look for something else that may be pretty (because of course anything pretty will never be a scam  Wink ).

I say, think a little deeper.  Consider the success and public profile of the CEO and the approach so far.  Does Reggie strike you as scammy?  You may be alone with that thought.

I couldn't agree more. In addition, some even use the interview Tone Vays had with Reggie (https://youtu.be/GfiTk8Z1Pa0) as proof that Veritaseum is a scam. It is laughable to say the least. I suspect someone out there is being paid a lot of money to misdirect potential participants, not only when it comes to Veritaseum, but crypto tokens in general. They normally lie and claim some form of authority.... "I am a software engineer," "I have been an investor in cryptos since the beginning, but this smells like a scam to me" and more. Press them a bit and it quickly becomes clear that they don't know what they are talking about.

In short: They are either bought and paid for or the dumbest trolls around!

Anyone who knows or followed Tone would know he never touts anything but BTC. When Tone first got some acclaim on youtube, I always wondered what other cryptos he was interested because of his views. I actually had an argument with him over Steemit and his rose colored Bitcoin glasses.. LOL  Anyway his views are strict in a way to limit any exposure to scams. He actually does the research, so if he's positive on Veritaseum I put that as a huge plus in the column of supporting evidence of it being legit.

True. Tone is a "bitcoin purist" to a large extent. I hope he invites Reggie back for a follow up interview to answer the last of those questions. It would be great to help set the record straight, as some are going around the net proclaiming that Veritaseum is a scam. They claim Reggie bailed out, not wanting to answer all of Tone's questions.

You also realize that "everyone"... said Ethereum was a scam also ! LOL

Edited:
My opinion:  Good or bad I feel like he is looking for a sure thing with zero risk.  I don't know if that exist.

Reggie,

Do you have an estimate of when VERI will be available on exchanges?

Thanks

The tokens are expected to be on exchanges within 4 weeks.

Thats great news!! Thanks

Also, can somebody set up a Slack Channel. It would be great if Investors could discuss Veritaseum in real time.

Someone chimed in last night about there being one.. They gave the link but its just the basic setup afaik without the auto invite/signup. If they don't have that we would all have to register via the admin by them sending us an email.  I think the auto signup requires a bot setup or something like that.. I'm willing to help out if they want to PM me..

I have a Ledger Nano hardware wallet and the tokens are already supported .  You have to connect to my etherwallet and use the mew function, but everything is handled through the nano. Very safe.. I think any Ethereum wallet thats supports Erc20 tokens will work.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 27, 2017, 06:15:55 AM
For thosw of you requesting a slack channel there is one at veritaseum.slack.com

Do you have the auto invite link?

It should produce something like this .. example  iconomi 's slack auto invite for signing up

https://iconominet.herokuapp.com

or   raiblock's

what will be the marketcap at launch approximately?

From what I've seen approx 59k Eth was sold..  I don't know about the road show sales..
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 27, 2017, 02:22:53 AM
Would be great if Veritaseum can publish a final list of all ETH addresses that has VERI, so anyone interested can double check their ownership is true.
This does not maintain anonymity as all other ETH addresses are disclosed for all to see in one place.

Or have a simple search system whereby we just key in our ETH addresses to check the VERI we have that Veritaseum's smart contract confirms.
This maintains anonymity as we can only search for ETH addresses that we already conveniently know.

Just a suggestion.

If you used the ICO contract address and not the manual address, you can enter your *Ethereum address you sent from in the below link..

In the Filter By: (* section) and hit apply. It will show how many tokens you have.

154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 26, 2017, 09:32:00 PM
My question is - will the floating supply of VERI tokens only ever be about 1 million or about 1% of total supply?

This is about the amount that was issued in the ICO to my knowledge - about 35K ether at 30-1 out of 100 million supply.

My understanding is that the rest of the supply will be sold to institutions directly.  Those tokens will then be used by said institutions to purchase research or run smart contracts and not released onto exchanges.

The reason an institution may use an exchange would be to either
1) Sell some tokens because they no longer find them to be useful (bad sign)
2) Buy tokens if they are trading below price of buying directly (which would take additional supply off the market)

Is this logic correct?  Any thoughts?

That's a very good question. I think your line of logic is valid but that's a Reggie question. If what you're implying is true that bodes well for us. Kind of like restricted shares on the other 98 million.

I contacted Bittrex as a user to put in my vote to add Veritaseum to the exchange.

Awesome .. I added POLO

we all need to do the same!

Polo, Bittrex, Liqui, Kraken..

edit..
Ha I just realized I added them in the rank order I use them.

Looking back at my earlier messages, I realise i was being unreasonable.

Apologies, but I really was quite annoyed that I missed this ICO. This will be the first ICO i invested in since LISK.

I thinkthis project could be one of the best long term investments to date, par ETH.

I'll delete my previous messages.

Thank you Reggie for extending the ICO. Much appreciated.

Actually, although I didn't appreciate your first message, I really do appreciate you being a gentleman and a man about it. Honestly!

Honestly, I was being unfair and venting, and quite frankly, acting immature. I went too far and I should know better.

There was no excuse. Again apologies for my silliness.

I really do appreciate the ICO deadline being extended.

Congratulations on raising a nice chunk of change, quite admirable considering there was no real advertising or awareness campaigns.

If you haven't already got one, I would highly recommend opening a Slack channel for investors, it'll help the community grow.

I second the Slack channel... for the reasons you mentioned

As a community, you can help the process by petitioning your favorite exchange to list VERI, and feel free to point to the GNO research and suggest that summarized forms of such can be offered for many of the tokens they trade. At the end of the day, paying customers have the loudest whispers.
http://veritas.veritaseum.com/index.php/16-the-gnosis-gno-forensic-analysis-and-valuation-report-our-inaugural-digital-asset-research-release

Liqui should be able to list quickly, it has listed most of the erc20 tokens after their ICOs have closed.

I found a link to POLO

Repost from CEO Reggie Middleton May 26: Reference ICO

We will honor any ETH sent to the manual address for the day, up until 9:30 pm EDT (eastern standard time). Email veritas@veritaseum.com to get the manual address. Please be very, very careful of spoofing or phishing attempts. They have been tried more than once. Any email sent from our domain has an SSL seal on it with a domain name that EXACTLY matches our domain name on the site.
We cannot be responsible for phishing attacks or spoofs, and there are plenty bad guys out there.

Awesome ...!!! Thanks Reggie

Exact ending times or Even starting times is a known issue with smart contracts. It's not really an issue it's how they are designed to work.

If I'm not mistaken, the problem with running a clock against a variable blockchain number is the start or an ending time is only an estimate.  We use a clock the smart contract uses block numbers.

The smart contract is set to start and end on a certain block number. Block number's by nature, are controlled by a lot of external factors that makes timing unknowable to the exact minute.  When they will happen is only an estimate.
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Steem actually profitable? on: May 26, 2017, 04:07:41 AM
Have you actually used Steem before? It makes me wonder whenever you could make some serious profit out of it, or it would just be better off to look out for other ways to expand your earnings.

The concept of getting paid for social media content is cool, but I have my doubts of how much I could earn with the Steem platform, since I'm pretty new to it.

Also, I find it rather confusing having three different cryptocurrencies like Steem, Steem Dollars, and Steem Power. Could someone enlighten me in this by the way?

Nevertheless, I would love to hear your thoughts about the possibility of profiting with this new way of publishing content.  Smiley

True story my first real Steemit earning, back in the day when it was around 3.00, I had a $$ whale upvote my comment and made around $600.00. This was my third comment. So yeah I'd say you can make some money on there.
