141  Other / Obsolete (selling) / [For Sale] IOTA DLS-55 12v power supply / battery charger on: May 14, 2011, 12:13:43 PM
"The DLS 55 Power Converter/Battery Charger from IOTA Engineering converts nominal 120 AC voltage to 13.4 DC voltage for both DC load operation and 12V battery charging. As a power supply, the unit's tightly controlled regulation allows the user to operate a nominal 12VDC load up to 55 amps. As a battery charger, the unit will maintain the battery, delivering its full rated current when the battery capacity falls sufficiently low. Input voltage 108 132 AC.Output voltage 13.4 @ 55A, 740 watts. Dimensions 9.7" x 6.7" x 3.4". "

I have several of these NIB Iota charger/power supplies left over from EV projects.  These are versitile, high quality, high tolerance parts that are used is many applications. They can even be run off of DC to act as a DC-DC converter in an EV.

I have several of these NIB quantum 600w digital ballasts for sale. This can run either a high pressure sodium or metal halide bulb of 600 watts at either 600, 450, or 300 watts. So Wikipedia has no problem maintaining a frivolous article like this but won't put up one on Bitcoin?  Huh

Bitcoin is too scary

UPDATE: Most first run orders have been shipped! We will begin accepting preorders for the next round of Bitbills tonight!

Fantastic. I was looking for a shipping update, and got a sweet photo too.

My mother asked for and received 100 bitcoins for mothers day, but doesn't want to deal with protecting and backing up a wallet. This is the perfect solution
146  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin is not used as money anymore on: May 12, 2011, 04:26:54 PM
I recently went to the Wiki and had my mind blown, bitcoin is accepted as money more than ever.

I have bought and sold physical goods using bitcoins more times in the last week than I have in the past 2 months.
147  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: [For Sale] Gold nuggets at 10.2BTC per gram on: May 11, 2011, 08:06:52 AM
is there any certificate with the nugget's purity?

No
So, there is little to no way of verifying you are truly selling gold at all then?

Equal to any other gold bought on the net, sure. So...are you buying?  Or just trying to scare off others from my sale thread?

EDIT - OK guys, I'm printing off a nice official looking "certificate" that PROMISES this is REAL GOLD! Will that make you feel better? LOL

155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Article names bitcoin as "standard unit of tracking computational work" - LOL on: May 04, 2011, 07:20:47 PM
http://www.searchenginejournal.com/new-google-grant-awards-researchers-with-cpu-power/29122/

"This program, dubbed the “Exacycle for Visiting Faculty Grant Program,” will distribute a billion core-hours to researchers around the globe. Exactly what “core-hours” mean in technical specifications is actually difficult to pinpoint, as core-hours isn’t one of the standard tracking units for CPU work (“bitcoins” being the more commonly used computation tracking unit). However, Google assures applicants that the amount granted represents a “magnitude larger than the computational resources most scientists normally have access to.”

I thought it was funny that some reporter did a quick google and decided that a "bitcoin" was a unit of measure of computational work.

....Not exactly wrong, but far from right Smiley
156  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ~.62% of the bitcoin network for sale - 3000 BTC on: May 04, 2011, 03:41:57 PM
For reference this setup generates around 60 bitcoins a day, or 840 every 2 weeks at this diff.

At current prices (3.5/btc) thats $2940 in two weeks of operation.
157  Economy / Marketplace / ~.62% of the bitcoin network for sale - 3000 BTC on: May 03, 2011, 06:42:15 PM
I'm looking for a single buyer for ~7 Ghash/sec of mining equipment. (.62% of the network at 1.130 THash/sec) This consists of;

4x Dual 5970 w/ Sempron 3.7ghz, 2gb ram, 750w Corsair Gold 90 Plus PSU, 30gb SSD, 4u Rackmount case - Ubuntu
1x Dual 5870 w/ Sempron 3.7ghz, 2gb ram, 750w Corsair Gold 90 PSU, 30gb SSD, no case - Ubuntu
1x Dual 5870 w/ AMD Phenom x4 955, 8gb Ram, 1200w Corsair Gold 90 PSU, 80gb HD, 4u Rackmount case - Win XP

1 spare brand new XFX 5870 on RMA from newegg. Each node has 1 1x PCI-e port open so there is room for it if you wish to use a riser cable

Hardware is ready to boot up and begin mining. It took many weeks but every node is now 100% stable with individual settings for each core

Price is 3000 BTC, not including shipping.  Can include individual acer x223w 23" widescreen DVI LCD monitor, keyboard, and mouse for all 6 rigs for just 350BTC more. WinXP node could be imaged with Ubuntu if buyer prefers, I was using it as a workstation/gaming computer/miner so XP fit the bill a little better.

Pictures of hardware available to interest parties. Would consider bank transfer, certified check, precious metals for at most 50% of sale, bitcoins making up the remainder.

My plan is to increase my bitcoin holdings before I launch a new bitcoin webservice or two, and I don't have the capital to do it while keeping my mining operation
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin morpheus on: May 03, 2011, 12:24:20 AM
I don't think it's a coincidence that CoinPal and Morpheus had their accounts frozen at roughly the same time. Paypal is afraid of somethinig.

Competition
159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal as honeypot... on: May 02, 2011, 12:38:16 PM
This is indeed bad, coinpal was simple no thrills exchange cash for coins, plus paypal was a nice method to convert the coins into useable cash that could appear at the ATM. I'm not sure why they frooze his account really if he has cash to give away in exchange for btc isn't that his prerogative, no doubt it was the volumes both large and small that drew attention, perhaps this is a temporary thing time will tell.

Competition. Paypal got wise and realized they were helping a competitor bootstrap itself into existence.
