Here we go, following the advice above I decided to just update the original post. It makes sense to as theres an option to change the topic title too. As per the updated original post:

*edit* 7th December 2013 - The signature promotion is now changing! See this post. The biggest of the changes is that instead of being weekly, I'm now paying out on a monthly basis.

Here are the new monthly salaries for helping us promote btc.sx:

Posts
100 - 250: US $7
251 - 500: US $9
501 - 750: US $13
750 - 1000: US $18
1001 - 2000: US $22
2000+: US $25

New Terms
  • Payouts will be made in BTC on the 1st of every month on that morning's open price.
  • 50 posts a month for full payout. 30 posts a month for 1/2 payout. 15 posts a month for 1/4 payout.
  • No troll posts.
  • Multiple paid signatures are not allowed.

This signature program is limited to 30 members (we are at that limit already). If you are still keen on joining, look out for misconduct or abuse (or a missing signature) from existing members, report it to me and you can replace them.

As I stated before, this program is closed to new participants with the following members remaining eligible:

it's flakey.  now it's not working again.  but it's not BTCPrice's problem.  it's an issue with Mt. Gox.  I looked at the code and it uses this url for its data: https://mtgox.com/api/1/BTCUSD/ticker and when I call it by hand I get diddley back.  not sure what's up with Mt. Gox but I do see it's using the v1 api call and should probably be upgraded to use v2.  v2 seems to work whereas v1 doesn't

Maybe they've depreciated the v1 api. Can someone update the code?

When the new scheme starts?
I'd like to join.
Seal is working on it and hope its would be came in next few days many waiting for this to join

Hey all, yeah sorry I'm suuuuper busy these days as we navigate our Seed / Series A round of funding for the startup. A very exciting time for all of us involved.

Terms of the new scheme will be similar to the current scheme but monthly which will make it easier for me to manage.

The new scheme will have already started 1st Dec so I'll count all of your posts to date and make the first payment on 1st (or maybe 2nd given that its new year) of Jan. I'll be posting the details up soon.

I think I posted this before but I'll post it again, all existing members will immediately be eligible for the new scheme, just keep doing what you are doing. There will be no new members accepted. Sorry for those who want to join, maybe in the future.

Is it just me or did this stop working?
seems to be working again.  must be a Mt.Gox issue

Yeah I'm getting some problems too... strange.

Love this app btw.
145  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid weekly for your signature on: December 04, 2013, 05:17:39 PM
Hi all, this week's payments have been made.

"Where is the spreadsheet" I hear you cry! Well its not here this week as I've paid EVERYONE regardless of posts.

Why did I do that? Well I have some good news and some bad news.

Bad news is that I'm ending this signature scheme. I believe its the forum's oldest and longest running scheme that has paid out well over 5 BTC in its 7 month life. Thats quite a good chunk in today's money!

And now its time for the Good news! Well, the signature scheme isn't actually ending! "Yaaay" I hear you cheer. Its going to be very similar but with a few refinements, heres a sneak peek:

1. The payment amounts will be similar, but with another tier added for 2000+ posts.
2. Payouts will be by the month with rates remaining competitive.
3. Number of required posts per period will be less.

The main reason I'm creating a new scheme is that the admin time required to make payments every week is getting a bit much for me. I need to focus on growing the site out as its long due refinements. My marketing budget will stay the same.

For EXISTING members of this scheme, you won't have to do anything. Keep posting and you will continue to be paid.

Look out for the new post as I will lock this one shortly.

Thanks for all of the participation so far. Members of this scheme will automatically be placed on the new scheme, details to follow. From day 1 it will be closed to new membership as I'm going to be enforcing a limit of 30 members.
146  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid weekly for your signature on: December 04, 2013, 02:53:50 AM
Sorry for the further delays. I'm going to rethink things over and make an announcement in regards to this scheme after I've had some sleep. I'm a little jet lagged.

Rest assured, all payments will be honoured.
147  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid weekly for your signature on: December 03, 2013, 10:30:57 PM
Seal,
Im making this post to convince you to increase your payouts. First of all, you shouldnt look at the fiat value of bitcoin, but instead look at bitcoin as bitcoin. 0.007 BTC a week is relatively low in bitcoin terms, for 1001+ posts. Additionally, there are other competitors which are offering higher rates monthly. So please take a moment to think about your payouts in terms of bitcoin not fiat. If you are receiving btc constantly (which I think you are) then, paying out a bit higher wouldn't affect you too dearly.

This is what I would suggest for the time being:
100 - 250: 0.002 BTC
251 - 500: 0.004 BTC
501 - 750: 0.006 BTC
750 - 1000: 0.010 BTC
1001+: 0.014 BTC

Look at it in proportion to the bitcoins you have, not in fiat terms.

Overall you are looking at around 0.3 BTC to 0.35 BTC per month. Which is good considering we still do make posts. Many of us make more than the required 14 posts per week. Plus you have our already made posts!
Thanks Seal, please consider it!

+1
When you think about it and analyze it, it's all really about supply and demand. There is surplus supply of people, so with a waitlist, he had little worries of raising the payout rates. People are starting to leave though, so there might just be a change soon.

he must think about these rates going too much less for now and many thinking to leave this now but still he is alone here who is giving for only you past posts not current

Its understandable that its not nice to see the payments drop each week however by design this is the nature of our bitcoin economy which is deflationary. Prices have to be adjusted over time as otherwise we'd all still be paying 10,000 btc per pizza!

I'm not fixing the price due to there being more demand and less supply of advertising schemes. I've been pretty transparent since very early on that I wanted to keep the payments so that the top tier will be paid $5 per week as I think this is more than reasonable for a community that loves to discuss bitcoin. I've also been transparent since early on that my budget is fixed at $100 a week. I regularly go over that by a good chunk most weeks.
148  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid weekly for your signature on: December 03, 2013, 10:20:53 PM
Weird to not have received anything. He is probably busy with his start-up. I'll be leaving the campain after this week's payout, just as a heads up. Good luck with your business!

yes may be bussy or try but site down now taking his time hope he send to all must in next few days

Hi all! Apologies for missing the payment yesterday and not giving an update sooner. I was on a flight to London where I'll be growing out operations a little further. Yep, you guessed it btcton, lots of exciting things happening in the start-up so watch this space. We were back to back in meetings in Singapore last week and presented to the Malaysia bitcoin meetup group too which saw attendance from the Central Bank of Malaysia wanting to know more about bitcoin Smiley

I'll make the payments within the next few hours, thank you for your patience everyone.

Seal, i will be withdrawing from the sig as i've just embarked on a promising business venture. this should allow someone to take my spot. Its been a great run, and i appreciate all you have given to me :-) good luck with btc.sx, i hope that you are doing well.

Understood. Thanks for letting me know r3wt, thanks for your participation.
150  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid weekly for your signature on: November 25, 2013, 07:16:05 PM
Hi all, its Monday again.

With the price increases I've had to readjust the payments again.

From today I'll be fixing the price against USD as the BTC price is too volatile. The price as per every readjustment will follow the original prices when I first introduced the scheme so that's basically $1.50 US a week for the lowest tier and just over $5 US a week for the highest tier. The price I'll readjust to every week will be the current price rounded down to the nearest $50. For this week it'll be as follows:

This is basically what I've been doing all along. Pricing it in $US will make it a lot easier for people to know how much they are going to be paid on a weekly basis whatever the craziness of the week's price action. It'll also help me plan my advertising budget a lot easier for this forum.

Here are they payouts:

Thanks everyone for taking part! See you next week.
151  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid weekly for your signature on: November 25, 2013, 07:04:11 PM
Hey Seal,

I've been inactive on the forum for a month or so but now I'm back.

I've had the sig since June. Can I get back on the active list ? (been back active for a couple weeks now)

If not, please let me know.

Thanks !

Sure.
152  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid weekly for your signature on: November 20, 2013, 07:22:18 AM
Thanks for the BTC! I'm dropping out at least for the time being, though.
Just kidding Tongue. I feel like I really like your startup and want to promote it.

lol. appreciate it! I want to keep growing this to support the bitcoin ecosystem! we need more exchanges and bitcoin businesses!!!
153  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid weekly for your signature on: November 18, 2013, 03:49:57 PM
Hi all!!!

Its that time again! Here are the price adjustments:

The price appreciation of bitcoin lately has been crazy! I guess thats a good thing so don't be disheartened. Price adjustments will become a necessary way of life in the bitcoin economy, after all we don't all want to be paying 10,000 btc per pizza do we!?!?! See here: http://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/1qq3ro/til_a_guy_paid_10000_bitcoin_for_2_pizzas_or/

The last time there were adjustments, a few people mentioned that they would prefer it if i used a non MtGox price, I've added extra to try and cover the difference a little.

This week I've paid out 0.17 btc, which is right on par at around $100 paid out to forum members. Thats back in line with my marketing budget for the forum.

I let marcotheminer join this week as he spotted a member who was no longer rocking the signature (they were relatively inactive too).

Happy to let others take the place of members who are posting without the signature. After all the pay is in exchange for your sig space as a form of marketing in return.

Have a great week watching your bitcoin appreciate! Smiley
154  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid weekly for your signature on: November 18, 2013, 03:08:41 PM
if it were me:

Hero Member & 1500+ posts - .05 require 50 posts per week.
Senior Member & 1500+ posts - .04 require 50 posts per week.
Full member - .015 require 20 posts per week.
Jr member - .0075 require 14 posts per week.
$25 for 50 posts?  That's $0.50 for a post, which takes no effort whatsoever.

Seal is generous for even giving us this much, tbh.

Morning all, I'm currently in Singapore for our startup's seed funding round. I spoke at the Bitcoin Singapore Conference which saw a huge amount of interest from individuals, investors and press alike.

Payouts will come later today, the price increases are just crazy lately which is great for those who hopped on board early as long as you haven't sold out yet Smiley.

In terms of readjusting payouts, no matter what happens to the price (whether it jumps to $1000 tomorrow or down to $100 next week) I always intend to pay out the top tier around ~$5 usd per week for their signatures. I hope this clarifies the second guessing as I mentioned it before and want to remain as transparent about it as possible!
Neat. What startup are you doing, if it's relevant? Good luck and looking forward to later today!

btc.sx IS the startup Smiley I'm hoping to raise the bar for bitcoin trading, with funding my plans are to turn it into an institutional grade investment product like what Schwab or E-trade offer. I'm really excited about what the future brings for bitcoin trading.

this is one of the honest and best offers from this forum

Yes.

The demand to get in is very high.

Thanks.

This seems to be a pretty nice offer.
Do you plan to re-open it to new users again ?

I think he is not going to open again this offer  Sad
Those who aren't in can look for people in the list who are doing spam posts and such and then tell it to Seal so that you can take their place.

Yes this still stands. I'm considering kicking out some of the inactive users. If someone on the list is abusing the scheme, pm me and you're entitled to take their place.

tinus421PUzJmW9VQabHEtxRxMYwWiKn4D6tFXmxV 0.03 BTC received .003 extra

Which I immediately paid back to Seal.

Please let me back in, I only left for a day and made the dumb mistake being tempted by TradeFortress' campaign which bombed immediately after I joined.

It would suck if that would exclude me. Sad

Wow, what timing Sad

I appreciate the honesty tinus42, I'll contact you next week when I've tidied the list up.

Hello all, its that time again! Payday!!!

Here are this week's payouts:

Thanks for your help r3wt, I reimbursed all of the people that I short changed last week (damn rounding to 2dp).

What a crazy week yet again. The price of bitcoin almost touched $400 over at MtGox the other day. Its currently sitting at around $340 currently.

The last price adjustment was at $180. Unless the price dips to ~$250, I'll be readjusting the payouts again next week to keep my costs under control. Go bitcoin! Smiley

0.61 BTC paid out this week ~US$210
158  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid weekly for your signature on: November 08, 2013, 06:52:13 AM
Hi all, I've only just had a chance to catch up on this weeks dramas. Wow what a week!!!

  • The price is now riding new highs $320+!!!  Cheesy
  • Inputs is down and out
  • Bitcoin in the Wall Street Journal! http://imgur.com/4bcGGZG

In terms of payment amounts not adding up, apologies for that. It looks like all of my amounts ended up being chopped to 2 decimal places. I'll make them up in the next payment.

Here's a little task for someone who has a few minutes free time.

The transaction for the payments last Monday are here:

https://blockchain.info/tx/619355929b03518fbea35cf39f2585959e7c1e5ea6afd01f9c6d8c9624928a3c

First person who lists the payment addresses and how much I short changed each one will get 0.01 BTC. Thats $3.20 at todays rate.

With the fall of Inputs, I guess you are now the only one that pays this way Wink. Got a monopoly here, Seal.
Too bad he doesn't accept new members. Cry
Yeah, but right now, Seal's got a sort of monopoly. He could do whatever he wants with prices and still have the same people. After all, it's better something than nothing.
That's true. We certainly don't want to go back to the chaos of individual people having to seek out buyers for their signatures.
I wasn't there at that moment, but if Seal ever stops this... There's always a first time Tongue. I joined this as early as when I had just hit 100 posts.

In terms of price adjustments I'll readjust it once in a while so that the top tier will receive ~$5 a week. This was what the original scheme paid out when it was set up back in June when the price was ~$100 / btc. My budget for marketing on the forums stands at around $100 a week (I think my average weekly payout is way higher though!). I'd prefer to ensure that this scheme lasts for a very long time then allow a flood of members and run it for a shorter time. Again apologies to those who want to join / rejoin.
159  Economy / Services / Re: Get paid weekly for your signature on: November 04, 2013, 01:26:58 AM
Seal, I'm out since last week!

thanks for the payment. I'm out for the time being!

Please give me an address to refund to, if you want the coins back! Smiley

Oh my bad x2!! (I paid you again this week!) Can you pick a charity, your choice and send the additional coins to them. Much appreciated.

Also if you haven't already I'd love a feedback rating
