141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do your research before investing in ICOs on: April 25, 2019, 10:18:27 PM
ICOs, or Initial Coin Offerings, have become a popular way for cryptocurrencies to raise funds from the public. However, they have also become an easy way to prey on the vulnerable, and the financial regulator recently warned customers about what it calls “these very high risk, speculative investments”. It warns that there’s little consumer protection and high potential for fraud, as well as high volatility. Some ICOs are regulated by the FCA, but this is on a case-by-case basis, depending on how they are structured.

As the FCA says, you should fully research any ICO before handing over your money. “You should only invest in an ICO project if you are an experienced investor, confident in the quality of the ICO project itself,” a spokesman says. Alternatively, consider investing or trading with a regulated provider.

Conducting a proper research is very important to undertaking wise business decisions. That its why crypto newbies are first encouraged to study the market deeply for a while before engaging in investment adventures
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Binance Is Becoming Too Powerful (and really scary). on: April 25, 2019, 10:05:43 PM
So I wrote this on Medium.com, if you want to read it on Medium you can find it here: https://medium.com/@creampuff/how-binance-is-becoming-too-powerful-4550f6155f5d

Here is the article:

Before beginning, let’s introduce you to Binance. Binance is a company which ran an ICO in 2017 and launched its cryptocurrency exchange during the same year. They quickly became very popular, and a few months after its launch, the exchange was already the largest one in terms of daily volume. Binance, and even more their CEO, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), is constantly incentivizing companies to use Binance Coin (BNB) as a payment method.

Besides, they recently relaunched Binance Launchpad, a way for users to directly participate in ICO’s on Binance. A few days after that relaunch, most of the major exchanges had already announced their versions of Launchpad, showing the impact of Binance in the cryptocurrency world. And even more recently, Binance Chain, was launched. Binance Chain will not only power Binance DEX, Binance decentralized exchange, but will also power tokens.

That’s scary.

Why?

Because if we take the tokens powered by Binance Chain for example, they will become incredibly dependent of Binance. And actually, it’s already the case without even taking in consideration Binance Chain. If we take a look at a low-cap coin listed on Binance, SONM for example, if they were delisted of Binance, their project would be considered as dead, because it wouldn’t have any volume anymore.

Quick side note: I’m not blaming Binance here, with this article, I’m blaming the other exchanges who aren’t capable of competing with Binance and Ethereum not being capable of competing in terms of scalability with Binance Chain. I actually like Binance, I really do. They have a great exchange, they know what they are doing, and they are certainly the most professional exchange I know. So I don’t have any problem in regards with the product itself, the only thing I’m saying is that they are becoming too powerful.

So the main problem behind Binance Chain is that it gives too much power to Binance because with their blockchain, Binance will be able to put even more pressure on cryptocurrency projects.

Imagine you have a company which has created a dApp and a token based on Binance Chain. You raised funds through Binance Launchpad, and were listed on Binance Exchange. Because you are fully based on Binance, you start accepting BNB, logical right?

Congratulations! You are now officially fully dependent of Binance. Smiley

Your dApp activity depends of Binance, most of your clients use BNB instead of your token because it’s much easier, the trading volume of your token fully depends of Binance and 95% of the people who are hodling your token are Binance users because, remember: you ran your ICO on Binance! Because of that, the majority of your token supply is located in Binance wallets.

The result is that your company’s success entirely depends of Binance, not you.

As a conclusion, I think it’s fair to say that Binance is becoming too powerful.

I agree with your submission. Changpeng Zhao is doing his best to monopolise the market. From Exchange markets to blockchain development and he's doing them all right. Its little time before he becomes the biggest figure in cryptocurrency

Why did you ignore all the pms and thread messages left on this thread by participants? Is that how you manage a bounty? Communication = zero

You even gave me your word In pm that you will make corrections but you failed. Sad

If you have free Bounty tokens, would you sell at a loss? It can have advantages or disadvantages to sell at a loss: to avoid more loss but also to realises losses.

Personally I would wait for a better overall crypto market and sell later, because it's a bear market right now. If price rises again you can make a better profit and get more money back per coin if you wait and sell later. Market recovery will be positive to many good projects.

What's your strategy to make most profits now?

If you have collected quality coins like content protocols(cpt), serve and Populous(ppt) from bounty, I will advise you sell some to take profit and hold. The future seems very bright for cryptocurency this year and its manifesting it already

Hello, today was a good day for the bitcoin as the bitcoin jumped to a price 4,800$ In the morning an increase of 16%, Now the current price 4,700 and many analysts expect the price to reach $ 5,500 in the coming days. Can the price of a bitcoin rise to more? What is the reason for this rise and does the April Fool cause this?

Source: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-crypto-currencies/bitcoin-jumps-20-percent-mystery-order-seen-as-catalyst-idUSKCN1RE0JY

Without major news from media quarters, bitcoin has broken the $5000 support and this goes a long way that there has been a subtle adoption of cryptocurrency and the year 2019 has experienced more traders than year 2018
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet hacking is it possible? on: April 13, 2019, 08:20:46 PM
Just like an account where one's fiat currencies are kept so also is wallet where digital assets or cryptocurrencies of crypto lovers are kept. Can the wallet be vulnerable to hacking and if possible how can that happen? If you have experienced it before, I want to learn from your experience.

All wallets bot cold and hot wallets are susceptible to hacking but only when key sensitive information is not secured. Do not give your private keys or mnemonics to any website, if you are confused on the website being a phishing site, kindly go through www.coinmarketcap.com to confirm its authenticity
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: negative views about Bitcoin always come! on: April 13, 2019, 08:17:24 PM
Do many people around you claim that bitcoin is bad? yes this happened around my place.
I don't care what they say, even though I haven't been here long, but I'm sure bitcoin isn't as bad as they think, this is a future technology where when the future comes, we are ahead and they are still behind  Cool. I am sure of that!

Some of the news come out of ignorance. Bitcoin is built on the blockchain technology which a versed majority of the world population can't get a hang on and secondly, the bad news are sometimes orchestrated by bitcoin competitors from through finance sector of the centralized world and a few others interested in buying low from weak hands when panic sets in. Nevertheless, we should focus more on bitcoins utility and future positive impact on the finance sector

155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: You Can't Be Jobless And Be Participating In Bounties on: April 13, 2019, 07:28:24 PM
Truth be told. You can't be jobless and be doing bounties. You will starve  Grin

My advice is to just see bounties as a pass time and don't be too expectant. Find some other job that gives you money. So many factors determine if you will get good rewards from bounties. For instance, when it lists, the price is out of the control of the team (unless they decide to do a buyback which rarely happens). The price of the token can rise if there is a lot of demand for it when it lists. But most times (since the bear run) the demand is low and to make it worse, several holders set ridiculously low prices just to sell off which devalues the coin.

Another factor that determines your reward is the authenticity as well as the success of the team and its project. Many campaigns have closed down in the past after several months of working on them only to announce that they failed to raise enough funds for the project. Worse case is the team devs exit scam and no one gets paid.

Project owners can also decide to execute their "reserved rights" by changing the rules at the end of successful campaigns. Rules changes can usually mean bounty rewards are reduced, locked, subjected to uninformed KYC checks, or distributed over a very long period of time.

If you consider all this then you will see that bounty campaigns are a gamble and cannot be always relied on to provide regular income for people participating in it. Those that participated in Deex bounty campaign (which ended in January 2019) are still waiting for their rewards (3 months after) and the devs are not communicating any date for the distribution. If you ask them they will say "soon". They have been saying "soon" since January, by the way. I'm not trying to slander the project or anything. I'm just advising fellow bounty hunters to try to get something else to do that will fetch them money and not to rely too much on bounty campaigns for payments.

It is simply a recipe for disaster. You will rather find yourself depressed. Cryptocurency bounty hunting shouldn't be a full time job for anyone because it can never be under your control. I will rather you switch to day by day Crypto trading if you have mastered the skills.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why Big Successful ICO Coins Price are sinking? on: April 13, 2019, 07:17:46 PM
What's going on with big successful ICO projects? Big Successful Projects like Pumapay, HDAC, Cryptosolartech, Bankex. Look at their coin price, every coin price is like nothing and their trading volume is too low! Pumapay raised 117 Million USD, but their trading volume less than 2 Million USD and coin price are just ridiculous. HDAC, Such a promising Project it was, but HDAC ico investors are lost their investment, ICO price was 1.25 USD per HDAC Coin and now it's trading with 0.037 USD! Seriously? And the same thing happened with Bankex, Cryptosolartech. But Why? What is the reason behind it?

Most probably lost a huge chunk of their development fund in 2018 ethereum apocalypse and thus have paused development needed to drive positive news in the market and attract investors to increase volume.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DUMP after PUMP! on: April 13, 2019, 07:14:20 PM
The Fundamental Analysis are strong and its the factor sustaining the price, any major negative news may decline the price but I doubt any is forthcoming because Facebook is seriously raising funds for its stablecoin. That alone is positive FA
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Exchange KuCoin and KuCoin shares on: April 13, 2019, 07:08:03 PM
The exchange was born in mid-September and promises and wants to become among the top 10 exchanges in the world, as well as its "twin" Binance.

Among its features:

Reliability: KuCoin uses data encryption, dynamic authentication, multi-level risk identification control, and other systems to guarantee transaction security.

Fast: KuCoin claims that blockchain-based assets will be added to your account within 2 minutes of your transaction, with withdrawals completed in 10 minutes.

Safe Wallet: The KuCoin wallet includes multilayer encryption, offline storage in a bank safe, funds escrow, and regular auditing by the bank.

24/7 Customer Service: KuCoin offers 24/7 customer service through WeChat and other platforms. They claim that customer service issues are addressed within 10 minutes.

Discounted Trading: KuCoin is offering discounted trading until October 27 to encourage users to sign up for the platform. You can get an 80% fee discount (0.02% fee per trade) until October 27.

Profit Sharing Among Token Holders: KuCoin shares 90% of trading fees with users.

Referral System: KuCoin has a referral system where it gives 40% of a user’s transaction fees to the member that referred them to the platform.

Proof of Stake Bonus: KuCoin shares 50% to users who hold KCS on KuCoin’s exchange. You also earn GAS for holding NEO on the exchange.

Multiple Currencies: KuCoin currently offers all of the following cryptocurrencies: ETH, LTC, NEO/GAS, OMG, QTUM, PAY, CVC, EOS, SNT, KNC, BTM, BHC. By December 2017, the company plans to offer over 50 mainstream cryptocurrency pairs. By December 2018, they aim to expand that to 1,000+ cryptocurrencies.

Quarterly Buybacks: KuCoin will buy back KCS each quarter. It will buy back tokens using the 10% of profits collected from transaction fees. Buybacks will continue until 100 million KCS have been destroyed.

Mobile App: KuCoin plans to release an iOS an Android app in November.

What interests us speculators is its currency, much like Binancecoin: KuCoin (KCS) has a total bid of 200 million, but the company plans to repay half of them, 100 million, through a burning policy, as it is exchanging Binance.
Moreover, KUCOIN exchange will be the first exchange to list RedPulse (RPX), which will attract a large number of investors.
I therefore believe that many investors will be drawn to the new policies and facilitations of it, so its domestic currency, KUCOIN, is likely to follow the same exponential trend of BNB when it went from about $ 0.10 to $ 0.20 to $ 2-3 in about a week.

In my opinion, it can be a great and lucrative investment, at least in the short term; then you will see how it will develop and evolve the exchange!

I have my reservations about kucoin. They are hardly articulate and quick to copy Binance which is evident in the recently concluded Multivac IEO sales which I lost over $200 from kcs dump. However, they have their positive sides which is liquidity, easy UI and cheap when compared to its counterparts

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao Considers Delisting BSV Because of Founder’s Behavior
Founder and CEO of major cryptocurrency exchange Binace Changpeng Zhao warned that he will delist Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV) if the creator of the altcoin Craig Wright does not change his behavior in a tweet published on April 11.
https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1116563034476957699

a big dump will coming to bitcoinSV if binance delisting this coin ?
what do you think guys ?

I think CZ's threat will hold any water. For a coin trading at $70 with a market capitalization of $1.2b and daily trade volume of $100+made with Binance accounting of 5 percent of that volume. Binance has it all to loose if it delists BSV
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook is raising money for Facebook Coin on: April 13, 2019, 06:46:27 PM
Yesterday I created a topic here about Facebook Coin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5129560.20

After that Nathaniel Popper, a NYTimes reporter that covers crypto, said Facebook is raising money for its crypto project. Seems like I may not be wrong in my article.
Here and here:
https://twitter.com/nathanielpopper/status/1115331482384388098
https://coingeek.com/facebook-seeks-1-billion-investment-from-vcs-for-its-crypto/

I can't see other reason for Facebook to be raising money if its not to back its own decentralized crypto. FB wouldn't need to raise to issue a stablecoin.
Everybody in the original topic said FBCoin couldn't replace bitcoin. While I agree that the ultimate store of value will remain BTC, I think FBCoin could easily surpass BTC in daily usage and, therefore, market cap.

I ran some numbers and I think its possible that FBCoin launches with around 300B USD market cap and reaches 1T in a few months. I'm comparing to HKD M0/M1 and HKMA's stability fund.
But I think FB should raise at least 10B to cover the initial stage of running a "sovereign" fund to stabilize the currency against extreme volatility, like I wrote in my article: https://medium.com/blockchain-positive/how-facebook-coin-can-help-billions-of-people-by-not-being-a-stablecoin-d780b6579e93

Brace yourselves, new times are coming.

This will be a huge news likely to break the centralized world. It will send a huge positive message describing cryptocurrency and blockchain as truly the currency of the internet. This has been long coming. Mark Zuckerberg sister is already an advisor on another Crypto project called Pledgecamp
