Btw just had another person running daemon report the same thing on windows, regarding connections

Having multiple socket failures on daemon both recent versions, is this a problem on my end??

seeing many more than usual to the point that wallet RPC failed
Strange. I have tested the wallet quite a bit and I haven't had any problems with it, but others report various issues. Is this Windows or Linux? The broken pipe/connection reset issues are unclear, could be peers not responding (normal) or something else. Can you try rebuilding HEAD from master on my repo and let me know if any different. I have a couple of minor fixes there. https://github.com/iamsmooth/aeonIt is Linux running a pool I am building a fresh server as I believe this one may be having issues, it is almost complete (for pool that is) if this one has same issues I'll send a message. I resaved and reloaded blockchain just to check but the errors are already piling up again after an hour, also not finding blocks. Let you know what happens.

FOR THOSE INTERESTED I HAVE CREATED 2 SLACK CHANNELS
ONE FOR GENERAL DISCUSSION AND ONE FOR POOL OPERATORS
GENERAL DISCUSSION SHOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IS FOUND HERE:

ALL THOSE WHO SIGN UP PLEASE BE COURTEOUS AND KIND AS I HAVE NOT IMPLEMENTED ANY RESTRICTIONS AT THIS TIME.
FOR KNOWN AND LISTED POOL OPERATORS PLEASE DM ME FOR A LINK TO A TESTING CHANNEL PER SMOOTH'S RECENT REQUEST
THANK YOU EVERYONE!! I don't use Slack, but there's are already Slack and Telegram relay bots in the #aeon Freenode IRC channel. I think maybe they're run by needmoney90 who also runs them for Monero channels. OK, didn't see much action there and Slack tends to be the common medium in which most collaborators communicate. If anything it is there if people want to use it

Looking for a technical opinion or fact for that matter: When pool mining is it better to specify a static difficulty within a range of your known capabilities, or to let the pool adjust difficulty. I have been under the impression that , for the sake of share submission, a rate of 1 (yay!) every 15-30 secs is good, to keep low diff share submissions to a minimum (pool flooding) while contending for a good number of shares for your portion of the reward when a block is found by a member of that pool. However, if you have no need to compete for share quantity, like a private pool, would it be better to allow auto adjustment of difficulty by the pool software in the interest of solving higher difficulties with a higher probability of finding a block? What effect does the difficulty adjustment time and pool timeouts have on time between submissions (guesses at block answer)? I suppose, to summarize the question what I'm asking would be: Does setting a static difficulty reduce the possibility or "power" to solve blocks? Is this how it works? Opinions, facts, or comments welcomed

Screen shots of disparity in chain: This is a shot of aeon.sumominer.com pool (supposedly on the correct fork) with network hash shown at 329 KH (below their own pool speed) and at block height 798850 https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1kO2IWa-HLTc29WWElMTUVvbHMThis is a shot of my private pool which has been untouched since .0.9.6.0 and show network support of over 1MH at block 799526 I cannot connect to the fork that sumo and krypto pools are on , even when syncing from another computer from fresh There is no consensus in the net and I keep connecting to the "wrong/old/strongest" fork is what I suspect. How can we instruct everyone on how to get this fixed? As I am not having success it appears many others are still on the original fork as well=confusion. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1kO2IWa-HLTTEVDVExwbnZIYkE

What block should we be on now with update? Wallet sync suggests 799518 is top block but other pools are in the 798xxx. Am saving current wallet sync at this time and cannot look. How to confirm chain is correctly synced with 0.9.8.0 update?
Latest block right now: id: <97a757763c94daf9f1d8d62c58735e04cd49bfeb44332935c895f616e73ea90c> PoW: <179aedc26e5566e49a365e3d2b4761dc7d41a83e3b8d5f2e63ebdae407000000> HEIGHT 798833, difficulty: 82866055 block reward: 18.193170674478(18.193170674478 + 0.000000000000), coinbase_blob_size: 250, cumulative size: 250, 14(0/14)ms If your wallet sync is showing 799xxx that means you are connecting the wallet to an unmatched node or you need to do a wallet rescan (move wallet.bin out of the way and restart simplewallet with just the .keys file present) This my 3rd attempt since last night from different computers wallets syncing fresh to get into the 798xxx blocks, I have not even launched wallet yet, and have not become synced yet. Daemon says synced but always 2 days behind and displays as block to reach in the 799xxx. I will do as you say. I have 2 pools, one public and one private and one wont sync to update and other has been mining in the 799xxx ever since update Ill keep trying , I keep thinking I am doing something wrong but I am not that inept! Thanks as always!

Sync has already passed. Open wallet. Ok I must have been asleep when it passed, how can you tell it has passed? Also why does it say 2 days behind?

Yes! Just one of the many things in the works. You can thank Antonio8 for that. Actually all thanks to Epsylon3 of yiimp. Pool is back up and active. Everyone please hop on and mine there. Very cool that Deep is up! Still had my wallet Would love to help put Deep back on the map, I'll cook up some application ideas and see what the community thinks. In the mean time I just threw 60+MH at Yiimp And added a node ( moved DCN out of the red ) 4 connections on the explorer now. Btw Epsylon3 been wanting to say how great Yiimp is, so nice! I have turned all of my fellow miners there. I've been away from the "commenting" and promoting arena for awhile, I think this might get me going again.

Looking forward to getting back into GAP! Having trouble using Gapminer 5 with the crt files could someone post a quick how-to for Windows ? Also some tips on miner compilation for linux as well please, I use both but am far less proficient with the latter.
I also have a few servers we could use for nodes, PM me instructions or possibly for access to set up. Thanks again!
