141  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin and free testnet mining! on: December 04, 2014, 10:59:05 PM
Can I mine with a Block Erupter?  I mean it, seriously. Can one BE gets me 'in the door' like a dollar lottery ticket?
The odds..I know. But would it work?

Is anyone else unable to access Multipool? I'm reaching an Incapsula Connection Failed page.

Same here

How about an S3 to S3+ upgrade kit?
144  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 20, 2014, 07:37:50 PM
this is the page of configuration:

The miner status section show no result.. What's a typo?

Try user name Wolframio.1 instead of Wolframio.worker1
145  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 16, 2014, 11:27:27 PM
That's my suspection:

The first difficulty in june was about 24% - i think this was the time Bitmaintech has set all available S3 online.
Now the next difficulty was only 3% and they say - hey lets make us the money and say ohhhh sorry we have some problems to deliver our S3 right now.
All S3 are mining for the factory and make money for them - okay they give the customers a little bit discount with an voucher...
And with the next (possible) higher difficulty they deliver - but all money from the 3% diff is gone to Bitmaintech...

Just my two cents...

I am disappointed that they haven't shipped today.

It does give you pause to think.

For the novice, what are the pluses and minuses of a p2pool?
147  Economy / Economics / Re: Please stop with mBTC, microBTC, ...! on: July 13, 2014, 05:26:05 PM
Leave BTC alone.  It's already simple.  .001BTC today is .629 dollars or 62.9 cents.
A change in divisor is an endeavor to make it palatable to hoards who like and can deal in multiples and
and shun percentages. But who would ever use BTC without finding out first what it's worth?
The day BTC price becomes so stable that we don't need to think about that is a day
I don't look forward to. Cry
148  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: July 12, 2014, 10:26:19 PM
Man, still no orders shipped...i sense people are starting to get nervous.

Maybe there's a last minute surprise coming. Maybe a firmware update to 625 GH/s and 325 watts?  I'd like that a lot.
What would your maybe be?

The 'purity' of MDMA is expressed as 84 or 86 or whatever percent simply because  MDMA is a pH basic, liquid, and acrid substance that has to be neutralized and crystallized in order to be distributable and palatable. They turn it into a salt with an acid, probably sulfuric. Adderall is made the same way so there's nothing weird going on here. 84/86% pure is really 100% pure, minus the amount of acid needed to turn it into a salt. It's the 84% claim that I would be skeptical of. Chemical reactions such as making MDMA  never result in pure product. Further, it is likely 'cut' from the get go with plain amphetamine precursors or far worse with cheap substituted ones like flouro benzaldehyde that yeilds fenfluramine  (remember fen-fen? this was the first fen in fen-fen and was shown (far too late) to cause potentially fatal pulmonary hypertension and heart valve problems (from wiki).  These mixtures can be separated and decent MDMA obtained. Street/rave  drugs on the other hand count on these contaminates to help *uc* you up and save on expensive purification steps. It's not like they know you or care how you fare.  Angry
150  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit Sales Open, official sales price $2260 per Kit on: June 03, 2014, 10:45:37 PM
Perhaps someone can help.  I ordered a S2 and it just arrived today, I am in the U.S., but the power plug that came with the unit seems to be different than a standard U.S. plug.  It has 3 prongs, but they are all flat, has anyone else encountered this and can I just go and buy a proper cord from a store to replace it?

I want to answer this question but I just can't. Roll Eyes

I just got one the last S2's to ever be produced. Gen 5 with the metal plate.
I think I'm going to mothball it...could be worth a small fortune one day Grin
152  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner Batch 4, Price changes daily, now 2309 USD for 1TH/s on: May 31, 2014, 12:48:25 PM
It's just the temp sensor, you have all ten cards hashing according to this screen.  Did you upgrade your power supply?

Thanks.. quite a relief.

No, I didn't upgrade. Still running the stock Enermax Revolution87+. Most PSUs will do a little over their specification. It's still the limiting factor on this machine, though. I tried to push it a little further, and while the asics could handle the extra load, the PSU couldn't.

What frequency did you finally decide on? I'm poking on the numbers this weekend and would welcome the input!

Well, yeah.. it's a bit dicey isn't it. At 206mhz the machine's stable. That's where I'm at right now. I get a large number of rejected/stale shares (~2.5%), but that still provides for a better overall hashrate than 196 or 200.

At 212 the machine will run for about an hour, maybe two, then shut down, presumably because the PSU can't handle it. I've tried repeatedly to get it to run continually, but eventually it always goes kaput..

In the end I'll probably just end up upgrading PSUs, because I know the chips can take it. Temps are not an issue regardless of speed - always below 60. I figure that anything below 75 is safe, so there's lots of headspace.

You'll find a list of frequency codes on this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=589429.0;all

Hope this helps & good luck. Smiley

Can someone post a keystroke by keystroke tutorial or a link on how to putty into an S2?
There was plenty of 'how to' when the S1 came out yet still a dearth of information on S2.
153  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: May 30, 2014, 08:58:25 PM
My new S2 is generating only 800 GH/s. Are two "chains" dead? Should I open the box and check if the boards are properly connected?

Yes, you are missing two cards.  Open the device and carefully remove and reseat all ten boards.

Let us know how it looks.

I went ahead and opened the device. Two cards were completely loose and couple were not seated all the way. I made sure all the cards were seated properly. The work on heatsinks was quite rough and the heat sinks have sharp edges. I cut my finger and couple of drops of blood dropped on one of the boards. I wiped the blood off with a tissue and reassembled the device. The sacrifice of virgin blood seemed to work and now all 10 boards are hashing, and I am getting 1 TH/s. Cheesy

Well done!  A little blood never hurt anything, to be sure.

If you're not bleeding you aren't working hard enough  Cheesy

For anyone who's flown in the back of a plane, or sat in the back of the school bus knows - bumpy rides are VERY bumpy in the back.  The front - not so much.  I keep reading about how UPS must be treating their packages poorly, resulting in damage while in transit.  I'm sure there are some cases of this, but the real problem, which is 100% out of UPS's control, is turbulence during flight.

Do you really think the captain of a UPS flight from china to anchorage flies around turbulence, in a effort to find some nice smooth air for all the boxes in the back of the plane?  I imagine he just plows through it.  It's not that bumpy up front.

Bitmaintech should either find a way to secure the cards SECURELY, without putting any stress on the PCI slots (pc case manufactures figured this out decades ago - they screw the boards to the case, not the motherboard), OR, ship miners with boards not installed.

You should be able to put an S2 in a paint shaker at your local hardware store and not cause any damage.  You can with any other pc or server (ok, only if you remove the hard drive first...).

My S2 received yesterday has a metal plate completely covering and holding in the boards. Arrived in perfect condition.

Anyone else notice that the power supplies are used? The Enermax labels are peeiing as if from age and heat. Still they work fine.

has anyone attempted upgrading to a new 1300 Watt PSU?
I upgraded to an old Enermax 1350. Had to stuff the braided cables through the hole where the
little fan used to be. Runs excellent!
156  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: May 26, 2014, 02:55:19 PM
I'm thinking of re-powering two or three  S2's with a mix of power supplies and  don't want to waste available amperage where it isn't needed. Of the the 5 pci-e connectors on the backplane, are they each equally power hungry or do only two or three of them really need most of the amperage?

When does this coupon expire exactly date and time wise?
AntMiner S2 Coupon 400 USD    1    0    2014-05-11 00:00:00~2014-05-27 00:00:00
Is it China time, Greenwich (UTC) time?  What's the equivalent date and time in NE USA?  I'm figuring Tue. May 26 at midnight.
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Total number of bitcoins will DECREASE on: May 19, 2014, 11:52:52 PM
One thing that most people don't seem to understand is that after 21 million Bitcoins have been produced, the TOTAL number of Bitcoins in circulation will decrease in a LINEAR fashion each year.  Why? Because a consistent number of people (maybe 0.05%) will always - ALWAYS - lose their private keys.  This is inevitable.

So with the number of Bitcoins DECLINING (after 21 million) and the demand RISING, classical economics tells us that the price will SURGE.

I wonder how old I'll have to get to be to participate in that surge Cry
159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the Bitcoin Foundation behind the disappearance of Satoshi Nakamoto? on: May 16, 2014, 11:01:52 PM
I do have a membership ... I think the foundation should focus mainly on educational mater ... It could be and (in my point of view) should include all industry sectors; but if you step forward to talk in name of our community it should be to talk about the knowhow, experience, best practices, etc and always keeping the educational line.
Can you tell me what the benefits of your membership are?  Would it help me to try and become a member?
160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the Bitcoin Foundation behind the disappearance of Satoshi Nakamoto? on: May 16, 2014, 07:09:36 PM
Why is there a Bitcoin foundation and why is it important to Bitcoin or to me?
