Да, по баунти выплатам выходят сущие копейки, даже обидно за проделанную работу, хотя большинство проектов за последние месяцы приносит своим участникам лишь символическую награду. Ситуация должна измениться с восстановлением рынка.

I give respect to Debitum, they are still considering HitBTC listing offer, without hurrying. A lot of coins which got listed on this exchange dropped in price and are increasing very slowly. Better to wait until Binance will take decision concerning Debitum request.

Круто, что команда DEBITUM  не спешит принимать предложение от HitBTC о листинге, а вместо этого подает заявку на Binance. Монеты которые заходят на hitbtc часто падают в цене, и растут слабо. Значит, ребята дорожат своей репутацией.
144  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-05-21] Crypto Scams, Fake ICOs Cost Australians Over AU$2 Million in 2017 on: May 21, 2018, 08:39:18 AM
In its annual report on scams, Australia’s national consumer watchdog has revealed that cryptocurrency-related fraud has cost Australians over AUD $2.1 million in losses last year.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has published its annual ‘targeting scams’ report on Monday, revealing accumulated total losses of some AUD $340 million to scammers from 200,000 scam reports submitted to the authority in 2017 – both figures a new record.

Cryptocurrency-related scams, relatively, account for a fraction of those total losses. Between January and September 2017, the ACCC saw about $100,000 in losses reported every month due to fraudulent activity in cryptocurrencies. However, the meteoric rise in the value of cryptocurrencies in the Q4 2017 coincided with a sharp increase in scams in the sector, the ACCC said.

An excerpt from the report read:

As the value of actual cryptocurrencies increased, so too did the scam losses in what people thought were real investments. By the end of the year, reports of losses related to cryptocurrencies exceeded $2.1 million but as with other scams, this is likely the very tip of the iceberg.

As bitcoin price peaked near $20,000 in December 2017, the number of losses reported to ‘Scamwatch’, the ACCC’s scam-alert domain, exceeded $700,000. Average reported losses had jumped from $1,885 in January to $13,205 by the end the year, the authority said.

As reported in November, scams abusing bitcoin spiked 126% in the space of a week amid a heightened interest by retail investors looking to invest in cryptocurrencies.

Fake initial coin offering (ICO) schemes and pyramid investment schemes purporting to be crypto-investment products were cited as the most common forms of fraud.

‘[Crypto scams] capitalised on the general confusion about how cryptocurrency works and instead of people discovering how to directly buy cryptocurrencies, many found themselves caught up in what were essentially pyramid schemes,’ the ACCC added.

Earlier this year, the ACCC said it received a total of 1,289 public complaints related to cryptocurrency scams in 2017.

The Supreme Court (SC) of India has barred all high courts from filing petitions against the central bank’s (RBI) crypto-curbing circular from April. The court also is clubbing all pending petitions, to be transferred to the SC.

As cryptocurrency adopters, exchanges and advocacy groups move various high courts (HC) across the country in filing petitions against the RBI’s circular from April – effectively barring banks from processing all cryptocurrency purchases – the Supreme Court has, in a hearing on Thursday, ruled that HCs will no longer allow any petitions to be filed, domestic news resource Crypto Kanoon revealed.

Further, the Supreme Court has also refused to put any stay, or a temporary suspension, on the central bank’s circular.

As reported previously, a number of cryptocurrency companies including the exchange operator Kali Digital and Flintstone Tech, a crypto trading and storage platform, moved the Delhi High Court against the RBI circular. The RBI’s new policy was “arbitrary, unfair and unconstitutional”, the latter said while filing a petition with the high court.

Earlier this month, four more exchanges across the country challenged the RBI circular and its constitutional validity with a writ petition.

Following Thursday’s developments, The Supreme Court has scheduled the next hearing on the matter on July 20 when it will hear related petitions filed at the court.

Following multiple notices warning the public against cryptocurrency-related investments over the years, the Reserve Bank of India issued a sweeping policy barring all regulated financial institutions including banks from providing services to companies “dealing with or settling [cryptocurrencies]” on April 5. The RBI also mandated banks to settle and shutter their services and relationships with clients dealing with cryptocurrencies in a three-month period that will expire on June 6.

149  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-05-17] PayPal CFO Says Merchants Aren’t Interested in Crypto Due to Volati on: May 17, 2018, 10:26:57 AM
PayPal CFO John Rainey said in an interview with CNBC May 16, that the company doesn't see much interest in digital currencies because price volatility threatens the viability of their merchants’ businesses.

Centralized payment service PayPal was a pioneer in accepting cryptocurrencies. Merchants could opt-in to accept Bitcoin (BTC) on the platform as far back as 2014, when BTC was worth around $400. Today, Rainey stated that PayPal currently doesn’t see much interest in digital currencies from their merchants, as the volatile nature of cryptocurrencies can cause contingent losses, explaining:

"If you're a merchant and you have, let's say, a 10 percent margin on a product that you sell and you accept Bitcoin, for example, and the very next day it moves 15 percent, you're now underwater on that transaction... You could have something that appeals to consumers, but if merchants don't accept it, it's of little value. Right now, we don't see a lot of interest from our merchants.”

“But if it's something that stabilizes in the future and is a better currency, then we'll certainly support that," he added.

The latter statement supports PayPal’s patent filed in March, which aims to speed up cryptocurrency transaction times. If the technology can be implemented at a large commercial scale, it could allow cryptocurrency payments to be processed between merchants and buyers instantly and off-chain, eliminating large transaction fees and long verification periods.

PayPal, which was launched in 1998, has 237 mln registered active accounts, with a payment volume of $132 bln in the first quarter of 2018, up more than $30 bln since the first quarter of 2017.

Today, Square CEO Jack Dorsey expressed optimism toward digital currency adoption on a global scale. At the Consensus conference, Dorsey shared his vision that cryptocurrencies are the future of a legitimate means of global payment, which reaffirms his previous comments that Bitcoin will become the world’s “single currency” within a decade.

153  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-05-16] It’s Official: Azerbaijan Taxes Revenue Received in Cryptocurrency on: May 16, 2018, 06:49:16 AM
Azerbaijan has joined the growing list of countries that are taxing revenue received in cryptocurrencies.

Revenues received in cryptocurrency in Azerbaijan are subject to taxation, according to Nijat Imanov, deputy director general of the tax policy and strategic research department for the Taxes Ministry, according to the country’s Trend News Agency. Imanov noted the requirement during the second Finance and Investment Forum in Baku on May 5.

If someone buys a cryptocurrency and sells it at a higher price, the profit is recorded as income and subject to taxation, Imanov said, calling it a profit tax for legal entities and an income tax for individuals.

Crypto Activity On The Rise

Purchasing and selling cryptocurrencies on the country’s cryptocurrency market is a popular way of earning money. The market grew rapidly from May to December of 2017.

During this time frame, a person could benefit from as little as $10 in any cryptocurrency, according to Elnur Guliyev, director and founder of Crypto Consulting company. Such a situation does not happen often, he said, noting that the least expensive option is to purchase and resell bitcoin. He said the option still exists, although it is hard to say how long it will continue.

Numerous Countries Fall In Line

Azerbaijan is far from alone in taxing its citizens for revenues received in cryptocurrencies.

U.S. taxpayers have been required to report taxable income from cryptocurrency transactions. They are required to include it as part of taxable wages, realized gross income from cryptocurrency mining, or realized capital gains or losses from the exchange or sale of such currency that is held as a capital asset.

South Africa’s tax agency has told taxpayers that cryptocurrency-related income falls under normal tax rules and can incur capital gains tax.

South Korea’s ministry of strategy and finance is planning to announce a cryptocurrency taxation framework by the end of June. Taxation is expected to start in 2019.

Israel’s official tax authority has confirmed that cryptocurrencies will be like assets and investors must pay capital gains tax.

Thailand’s finance minister announced that investors will have to pay 7% in value-added tax on cryptocurrency tradesas well as a 15% capital gains tax.

France has changed the cryptocurrency classification, thereby reducing the tax rate from a maximum 45% to a flat 19%.

Guidelines in India have been ambiguous as cryptocurrencies are not regulated, but taxation department has stated its plans to collect taxes from citizens.

A global venture called Komainu has been created to provide a secure digital asset custody solution for institutional investors. Partners in the venture include Nomura, a global financial services group, Ledger, a digital asset security solutions provider, and Global Advisor Holdings, an international investment house.

Japanese Holding Company Nomura Unveils Institutional-Grade Cryptoasset Custody Service

The new venture will establish an operational framework to allow investors to deploy best practices in the emerging digital asset sector, according to an announcement from Nomura.

The project includes top experts in fund management, digital asset security, asset administration and banking.

Komainu will meet the need for safe investment vehicles at a time when investor interest for digital assets is growing rapidly. Asset managers find existing investment vehicles lacking in the area of safety, citing a lack of regulatory, compliance and security criteria when it comes to digital assets.

The opportunity is abundant, with the 10 largest digital assets claiming a market capitalization of more than $300 billion, pushing institutional investors to find ways to tap this emerging asset class. Already, one-fifth of financial companies are looking at starting digital investment businesses within the year.

“Global investment managers have long been held back from full participation in digital asset markets, limited by operational and regulatory risk,” said Jez Mohideen, Nomura’s global chief digital officer. “Our new partnership will set the required standards that will bring peace of mind to digital asset investors, and provide tools and products to enable better integration with more traditional investment vehicles such as mutual funds.”

An established security solution provider already exists in Ledger, which has sold more than 1 million Nano S hardware wallets, noted Pascal Gauthier, president of that company. The Vault, a key management solution that is hardware based marks a natural expansion of Ledger’s offering.

Digital Joins Financial

“By bringing together financial industry experts and digital asset security leaders, our new venture will provide, for the first time, services and solutions built for business,” Gauthier said.

Global Advisors Holdings Limited, the parent company of CoinShares, has been seeking the type of custody solution that is readily available in the analog financial system, noted Jean-Marie Mognetti, co-principal of the company.

“After six years of research – and collaboration with our administration partner and its regulator – we now have demonstrable progress,” Mognetti said. “This will open new and exciting opportunities to global participants and contribute to move digital asset closer to mainstream offerings.”

155  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-05-15] FedEx CEO: Firms Shouldn't Ignore Blockchain on: May 15, 2018, 07:14:02 AM
"Blockchain has the potential to completely revolutionize what's across the border."

Speaking at CoinDesk's Consensus 2018 in New York today, Fred Smith, chairman and CEO of the U.S. logistic giant FedEx, doubled down on his commitment to embracing blockchain technology as a way for the decades-old company to maintain its game in a rapidly changing digital world.

Smith explained that one major issue that the logistic and transportation industry has faced is the "massive amount of friction" in cross-border logistics, since different countries have different standards, regulations and terminologies.

He told the audience:

"For cross-border shipments, 'trust' is legal requirement for every transaction. What blockchain has is a potential for the first time ever to make the information available for everybody."

As such, the FedEx chief praised the "chain of custody" that blockchain can bring to the entire logistic industry.

All this talk isn't just hot air, either - FedEx joined the Blockchain in Transportation Alliance (BiTA) in February this year in a bid to explore potential blockchain applications alongside other partners within the logistic industry.

At the time, the firm also launched a pilot program to establish what data would be needed for a distributed ledger to ease disputes between customers sending and receiving goods through FedEx. The shipping giant also wants to use blockchain to store its records.

Also speaking at the panel session, Robert Carter, FedEx's CIO and executive vice president of information services, said the firm will first explore that deployment in the freight industry, since one single ship could contain millions of transactions at the same time.

Carter commented:

"We move easily 12 million shipments a day and that more than doubles during the peak seasons. While we absolutely believe this technology is going to scale, right now it makes sense for us to do this in our freight world,"

Answering a question from the panel's host, author Don Tapscott, on how he persuaded Smith  to approve the decision on blockchain exploration, Carter said, in fact, it was the other way round.

"It's Fred that dragged me into this," Carter said, adding:

"The application of these custody chains ... is so critical to the information aspect. We're operating on this plane between the physical world and the digital world."

Speaking on the importance of moving with the times as a company, Smith concluded:

"If you are not operating at the edge of new technologies, you will surely be disrupted. If you are not willing to embrace new technologies like internet of things and blockchain to face those new threats, you are, maybe subtly, at some point ... going to extinction."

156  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-05-15] LedgerX Announces Bitcoin Options Trading Upgrade on: May 15, 2018, 06:21:11 AM
Bitcoin derivatives platform LedgerX is launching a new, simplified interface that lets bitcoin investors earn interest on their holdings.

The new service, announced Tuesday, operates similarly to its existing bitcoin call options with a streamlined user face for investors, according to LedgerX president and chief risk officer Juthica Chou.

Chou explained:

"We're seeing more and more demand for people who want to earn some sort of interest off their bitcoin and lending is not exactly natural to people - especially lending where they earn their interest back in bitcoin. So we're seeing participants come back to trading."

Essentially, participants place a bet on what bitcoin's price will look like at some point in the future. If the price grows to that level within the time period, the participants recoup their investment. In the event that it doesn't, participants can sell their coins and receive fiat currency from the profit on that sale.

This is "by far the largest trade that we've seen people coming in to do," Chou said. "I would say that more than half our volume has been in this kind of trade."

"The contract that people are entering into here is such that they're selling an upside call option, so probably call it [two times] where bitcoin is now. If bitcoin tanks, they still collect the exact same premium and if bitcoin goes up then they end up selling bitcoin at about [two times]," she explained.

Chou added that "overall, I think the volatility is what impacts us ... the more [bitcoin's price] moves, the more fiat [investors] can collect."

Only eligible contract participants, as defined by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, can trade in these call options, however. Users need to undergo "the same [know-your-customer] and application process as standard LedgerX" participants, said Chou.

She concluded:

"I think given the price action people are going to be more and more interested ... we're very excited, because this is something we've seen a lot of on the LedgerX platform."

• Well over 4,000 are expected to attend CoinDesk's Consensus conference in New York City

• With tickets roughly $2,000 each, the conference is likely bringing in at least $8 million

• Not everyone in the cryptocurrency world is happy about the conferences: Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin vowed to boycott Consensus this year, partly because of the high ticket price

Cryptocurrency conferences are still a massive business, even if bitcoin's price has plunged this year.

When it kicks off this week, one ticket to CoinDesk's Consensus three-day conference in New York City can cost roughly $2,000. Well over 4,000 are expected to attend, up from 2,700 attendees last year. So at a minimum, the conference is likely bringing in $8 million.

More than 20 other events, some with similarly high entrance fees, are also scheduled during the days around Consensus. The bitcoin conference that began with 400 attendees three years ago is now the centerpiece of a full-blown "Blockchain Week NYC," an event run in partnership with the New York Economic Development Corporation.

Consensus conference attendance growth over the years

Last year's conferences helped drive the surge of attention on cryptocurrencies.

Around Consensus 2017 last May, Bitcoin accelerated its gains above $2,000, and was bolstered by the first TokenSummit and Ethereal Summit.

Prices then skyrocketed over the rest of the year, drawing Wall Street's interest and topping $10,000 for the first time after the "Consensus Invest" conference in November. Since then, however, Bitcoin has lost more than half its value since topping $19,000 in December, but it remains more than 4 times above where it was last May.

This year's speaker lineup also reflects significant inroads made by the cryptocurrency industry into the mainstream. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, whose mobile payments company Square launched bitcoin trading this year, is set to speak at Consensus on Wednesday. Other conference panelists range from government officials to start-up leaders.

Consensus "does have a reputation of, if you speak at that event you're on the map," said Michael Oved, co-founder of a token exchange called AirSwap, and organizer of a blockchain conference called Fluidity, which took place Thursday.

He said he purposely under-priced his conference – tickets ran from $150 to $250 – because he saw it as "an opportunity for us to talk about the things we've been working on." About 700 people attended the Brooklyn event, Oved said. That would bring ticket sales to about $140,000.

"Clearly there's a lot of money to be made in the enterprise IT world, and blockchain seems to be the flavor of month."
-Bill Barhydt, CEO of Abra

Other events charge at least several hundred dollars for admission, including:

-The two-day Ethereal Summit run by ConsenSys sells tickets for $1,300 each;
-TokenSummit on May 17 is sold out of regular $649 tickets, and a "very late ticket" costs $979;
-The "Women on the Block" conference held on Mother's Day charges $299 for general admission, and $599 for VIP access to a reception and a lounge. Childcare for children ages 5 to 11 costs $80;
-General admission to the May 18 NYC Blockchain Tech & Invest Summit is $899, while investors and VIP tickets are $1,299, according to Eventbrite.
-The ADI Cryptocurrency Mining Summit charges $499 to $699.
