At this point I don’t think that 5-10 is going to save the day!  Undecided

Just say my weekly "Hello" to all my fellow miners  Grin
Sorry to see our two biggest miners leave, but they are professional miners and probably can not withstand the variance due to cash flow. For those of us who are "hobby miners", while it is much more fun when we are a larger pool with lower variance and are getting more blocks per week, the truth is that it all ends up being the same profitability over time. No one likes long streaks of bad luck, but it evens out when we get streaks of good luck. As long as you don't need regular payments to sustain your cost of running your miners, there is no better pool than this one. When I first started mining a couple years ago, as a newbie I also started on another more "flashy" pool, but it only took me two months to find KanoPool and realize how much better it is due to how well Master Kano runs this pool and is engaged with us miners. No matter how long one of our future bad luck streaks get, I will NEVER leave this pool for two reasons:

1. Kano has the most efficient code of all the pools, has unquestionable integrity, and keeps us all informed on a regular, and ongoing basis.

2. My fellow miners are the most entertaining, funny, helpful, and crazy bunch of folks ever. Been LMAO regarding all the crazy "sacrifices" to the gods of luck.

Thank you Kano, for the FEE FREE mining till end of 2017!

Mine on, you crazy bastards!  Grin

Yes Kano thanks a lot for the free fee till the end of 2017!  That’s if we find a block by then! Lmao  Cheesy

Hey, kano-san, could you please officially announce the no-fee promotion in a different post with no other info, so that I could announce it to some Russian-speaking communities and give a link to it? Some big guys don't speak English but probably will get interested in a no-fee offer.
As promised, I started a topic about no-fee promotion at the largest Russian language crypto forum and sent out a dozen of messages to Russian speaking Telegram mining chats.

будим вместе водку пить!!!
Well, I'm not-so-Russian when it comes to vodka. Tried it several times when I was younger but never liked it.
And i'm writing this in English to stop this off-topic dialogue in a language most ppl don't understand.

Heh, well the aim is to get the variance back down, and that's one way to do it!

Guys can someone please tell me if the Segwit2x happened today or not?  Thanks!  Smiley

Nope - the few btc1 nodes running got stuck on a block before the fork was supposed to activate, and there was a fatal defect that prevented the new chain from spawning.

The write up here: https://twitter.com/jfnewbery/status/931553531471032320

John Newbery on Twitter says:
Quote
I try to assume good intentions in people. Unfortunately, I can no longer do so for @jgarzik. My judgement is that he is acting to disrupt the bitcoin network to advance his own interests.
Segwit2x was announced abandoned last week, but there are still some residual nodes in the network. This morning, those nodes froze at block 494,782. That's two blocks before the intended hard fork at 494,784.
...
Looking at the code, it appears that Jeff made an off-by-one error. That's not entirely surprising. The VersionBitsState() code is confusing, and the commit where Jeff added the hard fork code had no review- https://github.com/btc1/bitcoin/pull/50
I then took a look at the miner activation code. There's another bug there. In the BlockAssembler constructor code, fWitnessSeasoned is being accessed before initialization. The result: no large block can be mined to trigger the fork.
This is a simple bug. Any reasonably competent coder would have spotted this (not least because a compiler or static analysis could have warned that a member was being accessed before initialization). Any reasonable review process would have caught this. Sadly btc1 had neither.
When I pointed this out to Jeff, he immediately created a patch and pushed it out.
In case it's not clear: SegWit2x only makes sense if it has consensus and can bring the network with it. That's what we were told again and again: 2x is an upgrade and will become the one true chain.
...
Trying to create a SegWit2x fork at this point, when it's clear that it doesn't have consensus, is simply sowing discord and confusion.
There are more bugs in the btc1 code. I can't in good conscience reveal what those are, since I have no intention of helping create a disruptive hard fork.
In case it's not clear: no-one should run btc1 code. It is untested, unreviewed, buggy and can only serve to disrupt and confuse the Bitcoin network.

I see, thanks for the insight!  Wink

Hey guys,

New miner here, I have 3 S9 (14TH each) mining on Slushpool but recently i stumble upon KanoPool.

Please if you are experienced in this, would you suggest me to continue mining on Slushpool? Or Would you recommend me to switch over to KanoPool?  :-)

Thanks! Looking forward to learn from y'all and hopefully one day, able to contribute hehe.

Regards

Any experienced miner care to shed some light? :-)

Thanks!
Our fess are less than half his.
He has much lower variance (and ripped off his miners at the end of 2015 Tongue)
Any other discussion isn't really a pool thread subject but rather a "which pool do you prefer" thread question.

I can say that when I started mining I picked the Slutpool from watching a couple of vids on YouTube where some clueless miners just like I was were saying that it was nice and all but then I tried Kano and I was in shock to see how little they payed me compared to Kanoa, At that time, I believe it was 2016 I compared the Slutpool and Kano just to find out that Kano was paying me a hell of a lot more!  And I’ve been here ever since!  Slush is just a pretty site that attracts noobs with their pretty design and all kinds of graphs and all that, nothing more!   Angry.    I can tell you that if we can get 100% luck stats taking like a year period into account or even less than 100% luck, then you can be sure that you are getting payed more than anywhere else!  Wink

Thank you brother for the in-depth insights hehe. Idk why but I am giggling at SLUTpool. LUL. I just started mining in Kanopool, downloaded the app too. To be honest, I don't know what 80% of the stats on the site says LOL. But I guess the understandings of em' will come in time as I mine....

hehehe :-)

Also I forgot to mention that since I started in Kano I’ve received a total of more than 20 btc Rewards in my wallet but it is hard to say at what average TH since I started with just 4.7 TH and was adding more and more when I had a chance and now I got around 150TH so maybe I got these 20 btc from like 70th in average but it is hard to say as well as because of the difficulty increases, before it was easier to get btc.  I just wish I haven’t sold almost all of them until now when the price is what it is!   Cheesy  Lol. But don’t get discouraged with short term luck, here we look at a long run big picture.  Although lately we had a few big miners that left us which hurt the pool, so now it’s fetting harder for miners because we have to wait for a block what seems like forever! But as long as we can stay afloat will be fine.  Cool. I hope!  Grin

Long live Kano !!!

And mine on comrade!

Damn bruh! 150TH/S is amazing! I wish to be like you one day my man. I am currently runing only with a 14TH s9, 2 other units are coming in December (I CANT WAIT!!!!)

I have so many questions to ask but don't know where to ask because they are VERY silly-newbie question lol - like what's luck % etc.

Do you have any videos on youtube that you'd recommend me to watch? I can't seem to find more about kano Pool on YouTube Sad

Regards

Sure I can help you out a little and tell you what I’ve learned so far, just write me a personal message and I will take a look at it tomorrow. Going to sleep now Smiley.   Plus we don’t want to clutter the forum too much because Master Kano doesn’t  like that lol  Cheesy.

Hi,

I cannot trace having recieved my last payout from the pool on the 15th , probably an issue my end is there a way to track it please?
The last transaction has been sent out, but not confirmed.
Bitcoin transactions have 2 steps:
1) Create a transaction and relay it onto the Bitcoin network
2) A miner confirm the transaction into a block

Step 2) can be slow or fast depending on the general network mempool size (transaction backlog) and the fee included in the transaction

In our case I only put a (very) low fee (42,000 sat) so it will be confirmed if the network isn't busy.
However, since we're a pool I can also ensure it's in the next block we find after I send it out.
So in the case of 494458 it will prolly not confirm until we find another block even though 494405 did.

The side effect is that no one has to pay fees for the payout transactions.
... and just to prove me wrong Smiley
Our block payout for 494458 got confirmed a few minutes ago Smiley

Sweet!  Can’t wait to get that fat boy in my wallet!  Grin

Edit: woot woot!  Just got it!   Grin

Guys I have a question and if someone knows the answer please let me know.   I’ve had some btc in Coinbase for a long time now, before the btc gold spit.  They have told all of the users that they will give the same amount in btc gold as the amount of the btc that the user had before the split but at the same tim they are saying that they can not support it at the moment because of some code that wasn’t released to public or some other issue, I’m not sure because I don’t know much about it.  Well what I want to know is that if I sell the btc right now will I still get the btc gold when and if they support it in the near future?

Thanks!  Wink

I don’t think they’ll support it

Who knows my friend, who knows!  But i sure don’t want to miss out on all the gold for the btc I’ve had before the split if they ever do!  Wink

There was no fork, it was cancelled.
I thought gold happened, just had no code right away. The little bit I know about forks with bitcoin cash is that they only look at activity before the fork so selling it would not make a difference with the bitcoin qt app. Obviously coinbase can make whatever rules they want, so be careful if you can't find a document to hold them to it.

Indeed!  That’s why I wrote them an email asking to know for sure! But it will probably take days for them to answer so that’s why I asked if maybe someone has done it before already.  Thanks guys!

There was no fork, it was cancelled.
It think you are thinking of Segwit2x fork that was cancelled. Bitcoin Gold is actively trading now on the exchanges. Bitfinex had it for $162.50/usd as I typed this

Seems like overcon can’t keep up with the latest news!   Cheesy.  Yes I meant the gold fork and not the Segwit2x.  By they way I’ve received an email from Coinbase like 5 hours ago saying this!

Bitcoin Segwit2x Update

Dear Coinbase customer,

There have been a number of developments with Bitcoin Segwit2x since our last update. No action is required and all funds stored on Coinbase remain safe.

Last week, the Segwit2x development team announced they would no longer continue with the project. In addition, a significant portion of miners and other community leaders withdrew their support for the fork. However, despite these developments, a small number of miners may attempt to go forward with a fork.

We wanted to provide clarity about the potential outcomes of the fork and what Coinbase will do in each scenario.

To protect customer funds, Coinbase will disable Bitcoin sends and receives at 2 am Pacific Time on November 17th, and disable buys and sells an hour before the fork, which is currently predicted to occur between 6am to 8am Pacific Time on November 17th. All functionality will be re-enabled shortly afterwards.

Scenario 1: Network is unusable
If support for the fork remains at current levels or decreases, the Bitcoin2x network will be unusable. Coinbase will not support withdrawals or trading as it will not be possible to move these assets. Currently we believe this is the most likely scenario.

If the network gains support at a later date, we will enable Bitcoin2x withdrawals from the platform.

Scenario 2: Network is usable
If transactions are being confirmed at a reasonable speed and miner support is strong, we will allow Coinbase customers to withdraw Bitcoin2x. We will not immediately enable buys and sells as previously stated, but we may enable them at a later date.

We will keep customers updated through our blog.

So the Segwit2x might still activate tomorrow!  Smiley

Yes, it's over a week now to fully ramp up.   We are now below that 35.71 number so it should be 10-11 days before full ramp up.  But once you're in, you're golden!

The pool hash rate for the last day is roughly 35.71PHs which means the 5Nd 'ramp' is roughly 9days 12hrs.

Wow 9 Days,  I didn’t know that the pool size made a difference to the ramp up time.  Now I do, thanks!  Wink

Of course it did...several days. No worries.

With my rewards as they are, I'm peachy. Even with the bad luck period, I'm better off here than either of the other two (large) pools I've been in.

Mine on. Cool

EDIT: What I meant was to take a look at your rewards list, and you can see how the period has fluctuated over the past 100 blocks or so.

I see, thanks!
