190,194 Shares left until .0025 on BitFunder

It's taking off. My IRC window is flooded with <+AssetBot> [ActiveMining] purchases.

BTC-TC is down to 1,321,563 shares in the wall.

I am hoping the wall is gone by the end of the weekend.

I wonder whether the S.DICE buyout will help eat up some of the BTCT wall?

That's 150K BTC that will be released tomorrow. I imagine a lot of the shareholders will cash out, but a good proportion of them will be looking for new investment opportunities.

Well, if 2.24% of those BTC choose ActM, the wall is toast! Grin

And USD/BTC might crash too which wouldn't help much haha.

You were right! BTC-e.com USD/BTC is taking a big dip.

Why? You can't cash out on Gox  Grin

Thanks Vbs, I was long ActM, but I had considerably underestimated the growth potential of this venture.
145  Economy / Securities / Re: [LTC-GLOBAL] CIPHERMINE Industruial Cryptocoin Mining & High Perf. Computing on: July 18, 2013, 12:53:39 AM
Kate,

I appreciate your being willing to reduce your own equity to purchase some Avalons for CIPHERMINE, I can even understand your motivation as it will help to shore up dividends in the short to medium term, but in the long term I worry that these coins could have been used better—I suppose it's your donation, though, and you are free to allocate it as you see fit. Does CIPHERMINE plan to start focusing the GPUs on LTC until LTC trading goes live on MtGox? I think there is an opportunity to gain purchasing power with an impending bump in LTC/fiat trading—it's not like anyone in the US could withdraw LTC earnings from MtGox Wink

I think there is a language barrier with Ken, as English is not his first language.  It is not a slight or a flame, I accept that and that is why I offered to him my services to communicate his updates to the community more eloquently.

I'm not sure if this is true—southern English is not that different  Wink. Can someone who has spoken to him please clarify this?

Any shareholders dropped 4K (or more) on a FAST-HASH-ONE preorder yet? (link: http://virtualminingcorp.com/shop1/index.php?id_product=10&controller=product) I'm considering taking the plunge, and I wanted to know if that was a common sentiment amongst ActM shareholders.
149  Economy / Securities / Re: [AMC]-The Official Active Mining Cooperative Discussion on: July 16, 2013, 02:26:36 PM
Conversly, look at the amount of chips inept BFL was able to sell, and we all know the sentiment carried for that POS.  People are ASIC crazy, chip sales will be high

I think the ASIC craze will die down quite a bit after many miners fail to reach their ROI in the coming months—the massive increase in difficulty may squash late order BFLs, block eruptors, and the latest asicminer blades. However, there will always be an enormous demand for the newest, fastest, most efficient mining tech.
150  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Ziggap Bitcoin Sales Service on: July 16, 2013, 02:27:59 AM
also why is this still listed on bitfunder? at least some warning would be appropriate.. because people are still buying those shares

+1

Ukyo, WTF? You need to add a mention of their insolvency, irrational owner, and lack of operational status to the BitFunder listing.
151  Economy / Securities / Re: Active Mining Speculation Thread on: July 15, 2013, 11:56:12 PM
Scooped up 5k,  Can scoop up another 15k maybe, but that would involve me selling all my shares of basic :/

Is it worth it?

Even without talking about the 28nm chip in development, in about a month ActM is gonna have ~6.377 TH/s mining from all the gear arriving. Is it worth it? Grin

What does bASIC have right now & coming? That 6.377 THash/s is necessary for ActM just to keep pace with all the Avalon chips coming online. I'm very glad ActM acquired those 20k Avalon chips to bridge the months until ActM can get the Fast-Hash-one series online. Smart move!
152  Economy / Securities / Re: Active Mining Speculation Thread on: July 13, 2013, 05:59:32 PM
I doubt burnside would bypass the approval process—application fees are an important part of LTC-GLOBAL shareholder dividend structure, and he is already trying to change the application process due to applicant complaints, which is causing some resistance with moderators. 153  Economy / Securities / Re: Active Mining Speculation Thread on: July 13, 2013, 04:11:27 PM
I will be changing the wall in ActiveMining to around ~100,000 shares.

Hi guys
I got a question.
Quote
Public investor's protection plan
The first 10,000,000 ActiveMining shares have the privilege of getting all profits until BTC0.0025/share is paid, starting from the day when dividends begin to be paid.

How to buy shares
ActiveMining shares will be sold on BitFunder and BTCT.CO and any other exchange, following asset approval or tendered by AMC shares. Existing Active Mining Cooperative (AMC) shareholders will be entitled to tender their shares for ActiveMining shares, on a 1:1 basis and are also covered in the public investor's protection plan.
I am an existing AMC shareholder on BTCT.CO, if I choose not to tender to bitfunder thus could not own the first 10M AM shares due to the delay of asset approval on BTCT.CO. Will I still be eligible to be covered in public investor's protection plan to get all profit until 0.0025/share is paid?
 Thanks!

BTC-TC trading will be coming soon, if approved.

Surely these points bear discussion on the speculation thread. Thoughts?
154  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 13, 2013, 11:30:01 AM
just think for a moment.

crushing. yeah right!

noone knows what is going to happen by end of year BUT-

ASIC MINER standing by to deploy
half of BFLs might ship + their chips
AVALONS
Avalon CHIPS
who knows what else avalon will offer this year
Bitfury's
KNCS
unknown players

you guys are truly naive if you think AMC can make a decent dent.
they can play but i think everyone needs to get their expectations in line with reality

I would say that it is the height of naïveté to believe that ASICMINER will not have future competition for blockchain dominance. I ask one simple question: if not ActM, then who? ActM is at least positioning itself to be in the running, so why not get on board when the price is low? A 2% mining share would equate to ActM share prices over 0.025BTC & weekly dividends of 0.00025BTC/share
8% : 0.1BTC/share & weekly dividends of 0.001BTC/share
16% : 0.2BTC/share & weekly dividends of 0.002BTC/share

Can you really afford not to punt some BTC on 5,000 or 10,000 shares?

Care to share your calculations?

Weekly dividends: Blocks/week * block reward / shares
Share price: weekly div. / 0.5%

So, I apologize, I propagated an error through my calculations (used annual dividends to calculate share price on weekly figures). Here are the correct projections.
2%: 0.0040BTC & weekly dividends of 0.00001BTC/share
8%: 0.160BTC & weekly dividends of 0.00004BTC/share
16%: 0.0320BTC & weekly dividends of 0.00008BTC/share
155  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Virtual Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: July 13, 2013, 02:43:56 AM
If you don't want to collect additional user information, use what you already have, which is the public withdrawl address.   The user should be able to sign a message using their bitcoin client to prove their identity.  It's how the Bitcoin OTC/WoT does it.  This might have some barrier for the average user, but instructions can be posted on how to sign a message.

Right now, to my knowledge, an user is identified by an email address.

Feature request: make asset news accessible via API. Please.. Smiley And I'd appreciate a reduction of cache time, but you already addressed that, I think.

Or allow a user to link to a bitcoin-otc identity, then they could sign with the GPG key or wallet address associated with their identity. The more options there are the better it is for users.
156  Economy / Securities / Re: Active Mining Speculation Thread on: July 13, 2013, 02:26:38 AM
So, as far as I know, AM shares were 0.1 btc at IPO and recently hit over 5.0 btc which represents a 50 fold increase in value.

ActM shares were 0.0005 btc at IPO and would be valued at 0.025 btc if they also increased by a factor of 50.

What happened with AM that allowed for such a massive increase in value?

Is it fair to expect the same, or similar, price increase with ActM, assuming they fullfill their promises?

By the time ActM equal AM in terms of network hashrate, and assuming other competitors at this point have also played their hand, would this mean that the giddy heights of a 50 fold increase from IPO price are resigned to the history books?

And finally, why hasn't anyone photoshopped 'Ken For President'?   Cheesy

A factor of 50 (0.025BTC/share) would equate to weekly dividends of 0.000125BTC modeled at 0.5%(26%APR). During 25BTC block reward period, this would require only 12.4% mining share with VMC breaking dead even on hardware sales/purchases (NOTE: VMC actually stands to make a sizable profit on sales). This is actually less of a mining share than ASICMINER currently boasts. In other words, ActM doesn't even have to reach their mining share dominance to reap a similar return on investment.

I'm officially on the ActiveMining bandwagon now. Looking forward to see some crushing of the blockchain soon Cheesy

Glad to see more joining up, but crushing of the blockchain won't be happening until the 20,000 Avalon chips come online (which will allow for a nice bruising of the blockchain). This is still a long investment that the FAST-HASH-ONE series will be online and crushing the blockchain by Q1/Q2 of 2014. So, lock your shares up and forget about them until next year and you might just bring home a tidy profit on dividends and share valuation. Hold tight folks!

160  Economy / Securities / Re: Active Mining Speculation Thread on: July 12, 2013, 04:44:32 PM
Sure is a lot of AsicMiner speculation on the ActiveMiner Speculation Thread.  Not hard to figure out who the current industry leader is.

I don't think there is any doubts about the industry leader, but people holding ActM probably believe that there is room for competition. If ActM can build towards 8% mining stake by the 3rd quarter of 2014, then that would equate to ActM mining-only dividends of over 0.001/week and a share price of 0.20BTC/share (Assuming share prices equilibrate to 26% APR which is more or less a good model when looking at ASICMINER and other mining securities). Now, for ActM to actually achieve an 8% mining stake, then VMC would have to be very successful at manufacturing miners, which means hardware sales will bump up those figures substantially.

Yeah I got burned on CIPHERMINE last night thinking I could make a few LTC by trading against BTC during the LTC/BTC price ratio drop. Vircurex went down with my LTC in tow and CIPHERMINE's wall got bought out by a single investor. So be wary of thinking walls will be long-lasting

Doesn't it suck that valuable lessons are always expensive?

Figure out if you want to invest (buy and hold), trade (speculate), or some combination of both (via two separate accounts).  Then commit to and be disciplined in maintaining that approach.

Flopping around on a whim or the latest rumor will only take your money and give it to stronger hands.  Remember that bulls and bears make money, but pigs get slaughtered.

/Oink!  Squeal!

Technically, I didn't lose anything, I failed to gain, but I agree with your point more or less excepting that I am a vegetarian  Wink
