I think a lot of the sell pressure at the moment is due to impatience. People see other coins moving and dump because they want a piece of the action. If you make BTC on other coins, that's fine and well, but the majority of people lose. The altcoin market is worse than penny stocks.

Since the Initial production Model S sells second-hand for it's original sticker price, I can go in for it now and trade it for two Model Es in a few years. No son of mine is going to have oil companies mooching off of him! I understand that industry just was well as I understand crypto, and I went all-in on DRK in early march for a reason... I'm not exactly an Elon Musk fanboy, but facts are facts. Tesla is to Cars as DRK is to Crypto. Those who doubt are simply uneducated. Pretty damn good job then if your initial stake was only $20. Do the battery issues worry you at all? I know it's something that will be ironed out with time but at the moment seems to be a safety concern. Especially if you were considering a second hand one. Electric cars are the future, honestly I'd feel much better driving around in one, but one needs to realize that a lot of the grid power still comes from fossil fuel energy. So when you consume power from the grid, even if you're using an electric car, that power ultimately still came from a dirty source. Obviously that will also change with time (hopefully), but for now it is what it is. That company (Tesla) impresses the hell out of me, I get a tingly Bill Gates feeling from Elon Musk. |

Reasons for not giving an exact date for RC4, should be quite obvious:
1. Implementing software takes time, you can average on when you think its done.
2. When you think your implementation is done, you need to test it, again, no time frame can be given.
3. IF problems are found, these would need to be fixed, and retested.
Rinse, and repeat for each function you implement...
when all points are done, then you can start thinking about releasing....

Hey guys, I have been keeping an eye on dark, but not following it too closely. Can somebody tell me if there is a set release date for RC4 or is mid July the best guesstimate?

Pooling together for masternodes is going to end in tears when the operators disappear with all the perfectly anonymous currency. I see the usual suspects creating large pools for masternodes.
Also putting 100+ masternodes on a server isn't that hard, and now you have a supermasternode that the NSA can put a bump in the wire and intercept it all.
Centralization (of both masternodes, and mining) is bad. This currency has future because the developers are willing to take risks. There's no reason the daemon couldn't just determine which nodes to use to most effectively mix all the coins, and limit the traffic so that any one given node doesn't get too much traffic and become a target.
Creating an economic incentive to pool coins in the hands of few is VERY bad. The 20% proof of stake needs to be distributed evenly to all coin holders.
Yes, I agree. Keep it as decentralized as possible, pooling for MNs is not a good idea. About the 100+ masternodes on one server. It would cost a ton of money to set that up. Even in the event that happened, people could just run darksend through multiple times to increase anonymity. Add that to the new mechanics for darksend (involving multiple MNs) and the likelihood of being compromised is even lower. That's not to say it can't happen, because probability is rarely absolute in the universe. And oh yes, I agree the biggest asset to this currency and the reason I bought in a while back is Evan. He's proven to be an incredibly gifted coder, and an innovator. His commitment to take risks to create a better end product (IE, a complete, working, innovative and useful coin) is basically the reason I have so much confidence in this coin. But that doesn't mean the price will follow that. People are extremely fickle and will flee at the first sign of trouble, but when you're trying to do something that's never been done before you'll generally run into problems. So, for that reason I don't really sweat the price fluctuations. In fact, I haven't really paid that much attention in the past month or so because I've been busy with other things. In a few months I'm fairly certain Darkcoin will fulfill its potential. |

Also in the mean time that DRK has it's downtrend for the next 3 weeks due to delays etc, it's daily volume has been utterly eclipsed by VeriCoins 3000+ daily volume BTC on MintPal, if the VRC volume continues for the coming weeks, DRK could have a serious problem attracting that money back into DRK once it's mostly in VRC which is early in its growth phase, traders and train missers simply go where the highest perceived growth and volume etc. is.
Until Vericoin's volume reaches its limit and begins to die down, and the swarm of moths fly to the next brightest flame. |

Some of you guys need to take a breath. We went up a ridiculous percentage in a short period of time, we're going to go down a bit to correct. People who don't have the patience to wait a couple weeks are selling, day traders are selling, and people who believe they can buy back in lower are selling. This happens in crypto.
The sky is not falling, DRK is not dying, Evan is still coding. Thousands of different people are doing what thousands of different people do. Some people do things out of rational belief, some people do things out of fear and panic. If you want to gamble and buy back in lower, by all means go ahead.
But for the love of god, stop to think for a second before you make a decision and don't let yourself be ruled by emotion.
And if you think 'SugarCoin' or 'TittyCoin' are good investments by all means go invest in them. I'm sure they have competent developers working to break new ground and create something new.

I chalk it up to crypto people being crazy. A release date gets pushed back a week for more testing, and it's a disaster. It's like Apple saying they will release a product a week later and then their stock crashes some insane amount -- a whole lot doesn't make sense to me in cryptoland. I hope the dev never says something like he caught a cold, or people will have him on his deathbed, coin development ceased, and the end is nigh. Yea crypto traders have always been quite hyperactive. A sneeze sends them running for the door screaming. One needs to realize that a portion of the market is just 'riding the wave,' and if there's another wave they think is about to crest they'll jump on it. |

Obviously people would like to see it as soon as possible, but as soon as it's ready is fine with me.
In the mean time, daytraders, the impatient, and those looking to buy back in lower will likely sell.

I see another troll swarm FUD attack is being mounted. Funny these guys (or singular guy) always appear in groups when there is downward price movement, as if to exacerbate it...
When we had the last downward movement into the .009-.01 range, literally every other post was FUD from brand new 1-10 post accounts for about 5-10 pages.

But if I generate a brand new address right now, in a secure manner offline, and I pass that to someone in private, perhaps even through an anonymous channel, then they send money to that address... how can that then be mapped to my SSN by the IRS? No way. With a bit of care and effort you can still achieve a great deal of privacy even just with bitcoin. Of course you also have to be careful with how you spend it, etc..
