141  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Where are you mining? on: March 20, 2014, 09:33:33 PM
I mine on BTCguild and Slush Pool.

Both pools are reliable. BTCguild has better SysOp communications. Slush was the first pool and works well.

BTCguild is PPLNS, Slush is it's own system.
142  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: To mine or not to mine on: March 20, 2014, 09:22:30 PM
To answer this question, one must know why you want to mine. Different people have different reasons for mining.

  • As a fun Hobby? Then anytime is a good time.
  • To get rich? Fo'get about it.
  • To break even? many feel that is unlikely
  • To support Bitcoin and the BTC Network? Yeah, again anytime is good.
  • To get BTCs without using an exchange? Some would argue there are better ways such as local BTC sellers.

There is always Ozcoin's solo pool as an option.
144  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [850 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: March 19, 2014, 04:41:43 PM
Grin
My earnings for our mega round was '0.000000000' yep, that's right, nothing.

I had to laugh when I got home from work and noticed my network was down. Turns out its been down all day.
I'm back on now and ready for the next run of super quick rounds.
 Cheesy

So it is your fault that it took so long because you weren't helping. Wink
145  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [6000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: March 19, 2014, 04:40:11 PM
You guys wanna see bad luck, go look at Slush Pool, they had a 25 hour block. Sad

O.k. so since I am now on the PPLNS method, do I need to set up a Namecoin wallet ASAP? I have very little hash rate, so it could be a long while before I would even be able to sniff at planning a payout. and since ScryptGuild has brought auto-convert to BTC, will you consider making that possible between Namecoin on BTCGuild?

You don't need a Namecoin wallet to earn them, they automatically accrue regardless.  You can set the wallet to an exchange (generally BTC-e) and trade them for BTC there.  I'm not planning on any auto conversion of NMC on BTC Guild.

I hve been mining btcguild for over a month with 230gh... I had no idea there is any namecoin reward or am I reading this wrong?

As stated above, NMC is hidden by default since the majority of users don't care about it.  You can enable it on the Settings page.  It doesn't include the detail that BTC does, basically just a balance counter and a CSV export in the settings page for your payouts.

Unlike a few other pools, BTC Guild doesn't keep the NMC if you had it hidden or didn't include a wallet.  Your account, as long as it was on PPLNS, was generating NMC the entire time and has accumulated a balance.

I guess you didn't like my suggestion about autoconverting NMC to BTC?
147  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Should we rename BFGMiner? on: March 16, 2014, 07:23:33 PM

148  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Which Pool ??? on: March 15, 2014, 05:33:03 PM
Which are the best pools?

All of them.
149  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: USA's largest mining farm? 1 petahash making 8 million a month (see the vid) on: March 15, 2014, 03:41:40 PM
Actually, saying that any amount per month is made can't be correct. Unless you constantly add new hardware, every month you will make less than you did the month before because of other people bring new hardware on line.
150  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Overall Mining Problems on: March 15, 2014, 03:25:15 PM
So is an antminer USB a good investment?

Investment? no. When it comes to mining, there is no good investment. But, it is a good starting point to get a feel about how things work.
151  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: USA's largest mining farm? 1 petahash making 8 million a month (see the vid) on: March 14, 2014, 08:50:58 PM

152  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: First time miner on: March 14, 2014, 08:21:58 PM
Forget surge protector, i'd get a UPS. it will keep you running through minor dropouts. I've like APC's UPS.
153  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Overall Mining Problems on: March 14, 2014, 08:19:17 PM
You need to run mining software such as cgminer to run your USBs. Then the easiest route is to pick a pool to mine at.  the pool will send your coins to your wallet when you accumulate a certain amount.

There are lots of other ways, i'm sure others will chime in with their way is better. This is just what i see as the easyist while you learn.
154  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: I'm looking for a low power PC solution on: March 14, 2014, 08:13:09 PM
Intel sells MBs with the atom processor for about US$80.00 of course you need other parts. I built a machine for about US$150.00 It is currently running 36 Block Erupters and isn't even breathing hard. The computer itself uses about 35 watts. I'm running Ubuntu Linux, but it would run windows as well.

ASUS Eee PC would also fit you need. They used to come with XP, even after XP was discontinued.

155  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Finally a question about Bitcoin that I could not answer. on: March 14, 2014, 08:01:59 PM

156  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can coins be destroyed in a more 'polite' way? on: March 14, 2014, 08:00:44 PM
Want to effectively destroy your bitcoins?
  • make a wallet with no backup copy
  • store coins in it
  • reformat disk

a bit extreme, Shocked i know.
157  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Which Pool ??? on: March 11, 2014, 07:56:54 PM
In what way can i choose the best Poll? Is there any guideline?

There is no "best pool", only opinions.
158  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Shares on: March 11, 2014, 07:45:43 PM
Sorry for a newby question! I'm new for mining. What do shares mean?

When you mine in a pool, the work you do earns you shares of the payout when a block is finally found. It is a proof of work thing. It doesn't mean anything to bitcoin specifically.
159  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5500 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: March 11, 2014, 02:40:54 AM
um... not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but do you think you could make the option to automatically change our nmc into btc like you do on scryptguild? Roll Eyes
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.5.2 Released, please update! on: March 10, 2014, 11:45:46 PM
Why bother mining DOGE anymore?  The rewards aren't what it used to be.  Mine Trollcoins.  They still pay out 50K blocks if you mine solo.  And yes you can still mine solo... Discuss...

You are in the wrong thread. No discuss.
